Itunes 8 problems connecting to the itunes store

I recently upgraded to itunes 8.0 and I now cannot connect to the itunes store. I keep getting the error message as follows:
"itunes could not connect to the itunes store, The network connection timed out" and when I run the diagnostics program the first two items are good (green) and the third is bad (red), The secure connection item.
I never had this problem before I upgraded. I have tried reboooting my system and reloading the itunes software.
Can anyone help??
Thanks ...

Thanks again nels4941! It worked. I just reset my Norton firewall and I had the same question pop up. I clicked yes and lo and behold there was the itune store!! More importantly it enabled me to reassign my album covers. I was able to get them all, but 120, which I had to do manually for some reason. Although, I think I now have 2 sets of folders on my hard drive for the album covers, etc. That will be a project for another day. Thanks again for your help!

Try temporarily disabling your firewall and see if you are then able to access the iTunes store.

Okay, so I've tried this, and it didn't work:
    1.C drive/user folder/your username/app data/local/applecomputer folder/(delete cache file here)/then enter itunes folder/(delete itunesprefs here).
    2. C drive/user folder/your username/appdata/roaming/applecomputer/itunes folder(delete itunesprefs here).
I then clicked Ituneson my desktop, accepted the agreements, let it auto configure, said yes to auto arrange folders, all my music was still there. Clicked itunes store and VIOLA!
*BUT THEN I FOUND THIS, AND IT WORKED!!!!!!!!!!!*
*None of these solutions works for me. Not sure how many others have the issue I've been having with Win7, but I found that you could fix the connectivity problem like this:*
*Control Panel/Internet Options/Advanced Tab, click "Reset Internet Explorer Settings"*
*When that's done, start iTunes. This seems to be a recurring problem when I switch between networks and VPNs between work and home. Since I can't seem to solve it, I switched to Firefox, but iTunes is sensitive to the IE problem.*
    *THANK YOU solidifier !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!*

  • ITunes wont connect to the iTunes store, or Detect any devices

I cant connect to the iTunes store or cant Sync my ipad and its been like it for a few weeks now and i am lost, i cannot think what could be the problem i have looked and used many solutions from other threads but nothing worked, i really do not know what to do. Any help or a solution would be greatly appreciated

are you using windows or mac ox ?
if you are using windows you can uninstall iTunes from your pc-> the follow link explains how to do this
Remove and reinstall iTunes and related software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8 - Apple Support
you need to follow the instructions carefully and exactly what it says on this  ,as if you don't and uninstall in any random order ,
when you go to download iTunes again, it won't install correctly
if you follow the step by step guide and go to install iTunes -> connect your iOS device to pc while installing iTunes -> this will insure
that the correct drivers will be installed
    hope this works

  • ITunes wont connect to the itunes store.

Every time I try to connect to the itunes store it says the network connection is timed out and to make sure my network settings are correct then try again.

The top 3 fixes to itunes error 9808 seem to be
    1) Go to Start > Control Panel > Internet Options > Advanced, make sure that SSL 3.0 is checked and TLS 1.0 is checked. Also under Security make sure that the “Check for server certificate revocation (requires restart)” is unchecked. Then click ok and fire up iTunes.
    2) The culprit was Norton. The users are set up as Admin and Standard. I have Parental Controls turned on in both Vista as well as Norton. Admin users had no problems connecting to iTunes. Standard users would get the error. I had to go to Norton’s Personal Firewall and add the program “iTunes Helper.exe” and set the option to “Allowed” (”iTunes.exe should already be in the Allowed category.) in order for the standard users to be able to connect.
    3) close iTunes if you have it open right now. Then go to C:/Documents and Settings/username/Local Settings/Application Data/Apple Computer/iTunes. Delete or cut the preferences.xml file which contains your iTunes preferences. Then go to C:/Documents and Settings/username/Application Data/Apple Computer/iTunes and delete or move the preferences.xml file. For Mac users, there is only one file you must delete or move a to a new location and is located at User > Library > Preferences > com.apple.itunes.plist. Restart iTunes and it will recreate those two (or one) files with the default settings. Feel free to set your preferences back to what they were and then connect to the iTunes store and enjoy!

Norton is the main culprit for iTS not working after an itunes upgrade, so try #2 first.

My itunes isnt connecting to my itunes store. i have internet but its just my itunes store not working.

As previously said I have an iPhone 4 which works fine when connecting and downloading the site using the WIFI router.
That's critical info.  There is a router configuration that will allow regular computers to communicate but will block IOS (iPad/iPod/iPhone) communication.  Good thing that I did not send you down that route.
Well, start witht the easy stuff.  Power down the router, wait ten seconds and power it back up again.
If no good, go to the iPod Settings/WiFi and touch the ">" sign to the right of the router name.  Touch "Forget this Network" and configure your WiFi from the beginning.

  • Why Itunes wont connect to the itunes store on my IMB laptop

No matter how many times i down load itunes it will not connect to the itunes store. When i run the diagnostics I get a no connection to secure itunes store error. How do i fix this so that i can use my computer with my iphones?

it will not connect to the itunes store.
Is it just eternally saying "Accessing iTunes Store"? Or is something a bit different going on?

  • ITunes cannot connect to the iTunes Store. The network connection refused

I guess this ends my relationship with the itunes store. Cannot connect despite following the boards recommended fixes, certificate changes, clock changes.
anyone else having issues connecting to the itunes store?

SO we rule out Winsock provider issue.
Can you try these entries in command prompt (Run as Administrator for Win7/Vista) one at a time?
    ipconfig /release
    then
    ipconfig /renew
    restart computer
    ipconfig /flushdns
totally shut down computer then restart.
    netsh winsock reset all
    restart computer
Now test your iTunes again. If that does not work, uninstall your Antivirus program and test again.
