Itunes 8 stalls during installation

If anyone can assist,
I recently tried downloading the latest itunes software from this website and it will never complete. I am not getting an error message it just stops processing all together around 56%. I have been using a zune and their marketplace for sometime. Oddly enough i had the same issue downloading the marketplace software and had to have MS send me a disc for the installation. I want to buy a ipod classic but before I did I was trying to download the software and give it a test run.
I am a little reluctant now because I am having so much difficulty. I was worried about my system settings and extra junk on my computer so I wiped it clean and rebooted putting it back to the way it was the day I purchased it. I had not done this in years so I was assuming any problems I was experiencing would be cleared up this way.
Unfortunately I still cannot download the Itunes software. Anyone have suggestions as to what i am doing wrong.
Thank you.

Thank you for the response,
Yes I tried downloading from the website : http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
I was trying to just run from the download at first but then I also tried saving to my desktop as you suggested. It times out a little farther down the way at 67% percent when i do this. Keep in mind my system was fully updated when I originally had the problem. All drivers from dell website....and all windows updates. I had installed windows sp 3 prior to rebooting my system all togehter.
I believe you are right in that it is a more general problem than itunes since i had the same issues with the zune marketplace.
The system is fully updated now, no cookies, pop up blocker is off. I am not sure what a web accelerator is to know if I ever had one running.
I also don't know of any alternate web browsers to download from. I am also going to check the dell forum to see if i can get some assistance. Thank you for trying. If anyone else has a suggestion please feel free to let me know.
Thank you.

  • IMac stalls during installation

I have a 17" iMac G5 that just recently started stalling during installation. The computer acts as if it is loading up the OS, but takes forever - somewhere in the neighborhood of 20 minutes. It has in fact eventually made it to the desktop. However, once you restart, it's back to doing the same thing.
I tried starting up from the MAC OS CD by holding down the "C" key, and now the computer just sits, and the icon spins and it has my CD in there.
Has anyone else experienced this problem and what did you do about it? Also, how do I now eject the CD from the computer?

    1. What were you installing? Be very clear.
    2. Where did you get the OS X installer disk? Is it a retail version of 10.4?

  • Adobe updater stalls during installation (Mac)

We bought CS3 premium a couple months ago and have tried to use the auto update from Adobe. Unfortunately after downloading the new version of RAW the updater hangs up and never completes. It is the only CS app that does this.
It's kind of an old Mac, but it has 10.4.11 on it and enough disk space.
    Any suggestions?

Adobe Updater is a piece of ****. It only works when you are the first user created on the system and it does not work when filevault is enabled. Amazing how they can get that program so crappy. It is hard to do this wrong. Just download directly and apply the updaters by hand.

  • Itunes: Fatal Error During Installation (it wont download at all) HELP!

Yesterday my iTunes (7.3.1) was working with no problems then the iTunes + Quicktime upgrade came up telling me to download the newer version but I didnt want to download it yet untill after i restarted my computer so I exited out of both the upgrade screen and iTunes then restarted the computer and when I tried to open up iTunes (after restarting), a little window came up saying:
    +*Preparing to install...*+
Then after a minute or two it said: *+Please wait while Windows configures iTunes+*
Then another window pops up saying:
    *+Error writing to file: C:\Program Files\iTunes\iTunesMiniPlayer.Resources\fi.lproj\iTunesMiniPlayerLocalized.dll. +*
*+Verify that you have access to that directory.+*
and I have no idea what that means so i closed it then a pop up shows saying: *+Fatal Error During Installation.+*
so i deleted iTunes, Quicktime, iPod and everything i could (that my computer would let me) that had to do with Apple and restarted my computer then tried to download iTunes again but now when its reisntalling it says
    *+Error writing to file:+* +*C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\bin\disnoted.exe.*+
+*Verify that you have access to that directory.*+
Then after this i went to the folder
    +*C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\bin\disnoted.exe.*+
and made sure that Read Only wasn't checked but everytime i go to uncheck it and click Apply and OK it doesnt stay it just goes right back to being checked...because when u click OK the window goes away so i immediately opened it back up to see if changed but it was filled again
WHAT DO I DO?!?!? please can someone help me
The details for my computer are:
    Microsoft Windows XP
    Professional Version 2002
    Service Pack 2

    if it helps at all...
I downloaded Quicktime seperately from iTunes and i got that with no problem and it worked just fine but i cant get iTunes at all
and i have follwed the instructions on the website about uninstalling everything but nothing seems to be working
...is there any possible way that anybody can help me out with this.
any help that anyone can offer is very greatly appreciated,
    Please & Thank You.

I have tried to download itunes 10.5 but during installation it gives an error of windows installer. Please let me know how to install it.

    Repair youe Apple Software Update.
Go to START/ALL PROGRAMS/Apple Software Update. If it offers you a newer version of Apple Software Update, do it but Deselect any other software offered at the same time. Once done, try another iTunes install.
If you don't find ASU in All Programs, go to Control Panel, Add & Remove Programs.

  • Itunes 11.1.1 Errors occurred during installation...

Errors occurred during installation before Itunes could be configured. Your system has not been modified. To complete the installatoin, run the instaler again. Click Finish to exit the installer. I've tried re installing iTunes 11.1.1 multiple times and I've redownloaded the file. Has this happend to anyone? If so what was the resolution to fix it? Thank You [:

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

  • ITunes 11.1 - "Error occurred during installation"

Right. So, I updated my iPod to iOS 7, same as most everybody here and attempted to sync to my iTunes. However, I recieved a message saying that iTunes needed to be updated to 11.1 before I could even do that again. Simple enough, clicked on the "Search updates" under help, and set everything to install. When I got to the iTunes portion, however, everything closed out mid-updated. The window said "Installation Completed", but read that an error had occurred during installation. I tried to sync again, sure enough, no change.
So, I checked around the internet for answers. Saw a common reccomendation to uninstall the current iTunes and install a download directly from the website. So, I followed suit with the same procedure--and, sure enough, I recieved the exact same error.
I've tried to restart the computer and perform the install, scanned for any system errors, shut down and booted back up, used a secondary username, but nothing doing. Mind you, I'm not about to accept that I'm locked out of some of the most basic functions of something i paid two hundred and fifty dollars for. So, what needs to be done to fix this?

    Hello there, LandersmanIV.
Properly uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes can be a tricky venture. I would recommend reviewing the following Knowledge Base article for guidance:

  • Updated itunes, error message about mobile popped up during installation, then after installation, tunes will not start. gives error that a dll file is missing.

I downloaded the new Itunes version. During installation, there was an error message that said no Mobile access.  After installation, Itunes would not open.  Gave an error message that a DLL file was not found. Removed itunes from computer and initiated new download.  Same problem with new download. Still does not open. I'm stumped.  I have over  30,000 files in itunes and use it every day HELP

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
    Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.

These ones are typically caused by underlying problems on the PC that also often cause Windows Updates to fail to install. If we can fix the Windows Update trouble, we can usually get the iTunes trouble cleaned up en passant.
Go into your Windows update and try to check for new updates. If updates install, stock up on the ones you're behind on, restarting the PC if requested to do so. After the restart, try installing iTunes again. Does it go through this time for you?
If windows updates fail to install, go into your Update History and doubleclick the failures. What alphanumeric codes appear for you? (For example, 8007000B.)
