ITunes 8 will not connect to my airport speakers

I just upgraded to iTunes 8 and wanted to listen to my music with my speakers connected to my airport express card. iTunes states it can't connect and shows code -3256.
What must I do?

There are already two threads on the subject, I suggest you continue there.

Since the MacBook Pro currently works, you should put it next to the iMac and compare the network settings for AirPort in System Preferences Network pane Advanced. Also, if you want to start off with the default network settings, you can use Location drop down menu and select +Edit Locations+. Then click the plus sign to create a new location. Set up that new location.
On System Preferences Network pane, AirPort should appear at the top of the list (in the sidebar). To change the service order, click on the gear icon and select +Set Service Order+.
Some additional tests you can try, on top of seeing if it works with (1) WEP security disabled and (2) a direct wired connection to the router.
If you get it to work with either (1) or (2), be sure to run Software Update at least two times to apply any recent updates from Apple. See if that makes any difference to using AirPort with WEP back on.
    (3) Start up in Safe Mode
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1455
I don't know if any third-party software has been installed on the iMac at this point, but Safe Mode will start up with only the essential Apple extensions and processes running. See if it works any better in Safe Mode.
    (4) Create a new admin user account in System Preferences Accounts pane
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.6/en/8235.html
Log out and log in to the new account. Try connecting with AirPort in the new account.
    (5) Connect the MacBook Pro to the router with a wired Ethernet connection. Make sure its Internet access works. On System Preferences Sharing pane, set it up for +Internet Sharing+ so that it is set to +Share your connection from Ethernet - To computers using AirPort+. On the iMac, try to connect to that wireless network and access the Internet.
That last one (5) may be a good one to try first. It would at least show that the iMac's AirPort is working - you can even set it up to use WEP. If you have any questions about using the +Internal Sharing+ feature, please ask.

  • My Ipad will not connect to my airport express

I was having a sound issue so I reset my Ipad.  Now it will not connect to my Airport Express for internet.  The message I get is to contact Apple Support.

    Hello sgraziano,
I suggest taking a look at this article named iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections found here http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1398.
Follow these steps to troubleshoot the above issues.
Be sure that you are in range of your Wi-Fi router (access point).
Tap Settings > Wi-Fi and turn Wi-Fi off and then on again. If unable to do so, see this article.
Confirm that your Wi-Fi router and Cable or DSL modem are connected to power, turned on, and indicate that they are connected to the Internet. If not, refer to your network administrator or ISP for assistance.
    Restart your iOS device.
Tap Settings > Wi-Fi and locate the Wi-Fi network to which you are connected. Then tap > and Forget this Network. Try to connect to your desired Wi-Fi network again.
Note: You will need to enter your Wi-Fi password again if your desired network requires one.
Turn your Wi-Fi router off and then on again2. If your ISP also provides cable or phone service, check with them before attempting this step to avoid interruption of service.
Update your device to the latest version of software.
Update your Wi-Fi router to the latest firmware2.For AirPort Base Stations, see this article for information about firmware updates.
And this section at the bottom if that troubleshooting does not resolve hte issue:
Unable to connect to a Wi-Fi network
Verify that you are attempting to connect your desired Wi-Fi network.
Make sure you are entering your Wi-Fi password correctly.Passwords may be case sensitive and may contain numbers or special characters.
Reset network settings by tapping Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
Note: This will reset all network settings including: previously connected Wi-Fi networks and passwords, recently used Bluetooth accessories, VPN and APN settings.
    Take care,
    Sterling

  • We have an old titanium PowerBook that will not connect to our AirPort Extreme network. What gives.

We have an old titanium PowerBook that will easily connect to any WiFi cafe or hotel network, but will not connect to our AirPort Extreme network. What gives.
When the Apple Tec. installed our network for our 3 iMAXs, he couldn't it to connect either. Of course our two iPads have no trouble connecting.
We are also having trouble getting it to upgrade from OS 10.5.8 to 10.6, even though I have a Snow Leopard up date family pack.

What is your Wireless Security setting on the network?  Since you are running Leopard, I may not have the desired answer, but some of the Airport-equipped laptops, like the TiBooks, are said not to support all of the settings.  I have an AE network which supports b and g, with "WPA2 Personal" settings and the TiBooks connect with that one OK with 811.b Airport.
Oh, and no way to upgrade beyond 10.5.8 Leopard for PPC machines like the Titanium G4 Powerbooks, as 10.6 and above require Intel processors.
EDIT: I didn't notice this, but the TiBooks may be connecting with WPA encryption on my network, as I have the following display on my settings:

  • How do i restore my wifi setting back to the factory settings? I have changed it somehow :/ and now my wifi will not connect. My Airport is on and showing full strength but will not connect.

Ok, if other devices are connecting but just not your MacBook then let's start troubleshooting the MacBook to possibly find out why.
Please try each of the following, in order, until hopefully resolved:
Note the following are excerpts from an OS X Daily article.
    * Turn Airport on & off – You can do this via the Airport menu bar or from the Network Preferences. This is the first thing you should try when troubleshooting Mac wireless problems.
    * Make sure Wireless/Airport card software & firmware is up to date – This is usually done just by going to the Software Update menu, if there are any updates available for your Mac or Airport, install them.
    * Delete and recreate connection – Try deleting and recreating/reestablishing the wireless connection, sometimes a setting can be corrupted and this may fix it.
    * Create a new Network Location – Similar to the above suggestion, try creating a new and different wireless network location to see if it resolves the connection problems.
    * Change DHCP auto settings to manual – sometimes there is a problem with the DHCP server, and if you manually set an IP address on the network you can be fine. Remember to set the IP to a high number so it wouldn’t interfere with other DHCP machines. As long as you have the subnet mask, router, and DNS settings configured manually as well, this shouldn’t be a problem.
    * Flush the DNS cache – Launch the Terminal and enter the following command onto one full line within the Terminal: dscacheutil -flushcache
    * Zap the PRAM – Reboot your Mac and hold Command+Option+P+R during restart until you hear another chime, let the Mac boot as usual.
    * Delete Wireless Config files – Delete com.apple.internetconfigpriv.plist and com.apple.internetconfig.plist files from ~/Library/Preferences and reboot
    * Trash your home directories SystemConfiguration – Remove all files within ~/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/ and then reboot your Mac.
    * Reset your Mac’s System Management Controller (SMC) – For MacBook and MacBook Pro’s: Shutdown the MacBook/Pro, remove the battery, disconnect the power, hold the Power Key for 15 seconds. Replace the battery, reconnect power, and zap the PRAM and wait for 2 chimes before letting the keys go. Let boot as usual.

  • Itunes will not connect with my airport express

My new macbook will connect automatically to my airport express network with airtunes but the itunes on my imac will not. It show the network as an option for additional speakers but when I choose the airport express network as my external speakers it gives me a box saying it is connecting then after a few minutes it just goes away and reverts to the computer for my speakers. Any ideas on what to do? The aiport express has the latest firmware update.

Check the Firewall settings in the Sharing area of System Preferences.
I think you need to have iTunes Music Sharing enabled (maybe not).

  • ITunes store will not connect

    Hi,
My iTunes store has been fine up until now with the web downloaded version. I recently bought an iPod Nano 2gb and I decided I would uninstall my current version of iTunes and install the version on the CD provided with my iPod. Since then my iTunes music store will not load.
Error Message: "iTunes could not connect with the music store. The network connection was reset. Make sure your network connection is active and try again.
I'm a bit of a dunce with computers and errors! My network connection is fine...as I am on the internet, and msn messenger works etc etc. It says 'Local Area Connection Speed 100.0 Mbps Status: Connected'
I have tried re-installing and it doesn't work. I have tried to see if I can find other music download programs but none are compatible with iPod's as i'm sure you already know.
I recently got a new internet connection, but as I said my iTunes store was working fine after getting this connection until installing the CD version of the iTunes software.
Please can anyone help as I feel my iPod was a waste of money if I can not get my iTunes to work! I did everything that my instruction booklet told me i.e. installed the version on the CD before plugging my iPod in etc etc.

I haven't actually changed anything i.e. virus programs when I reinstalled the software so I don't know why it work one minute and then not the next.
BUT...I have Windows Firewall enabled (I disabled it once and tried again but it made no difference so I have enabled it again) I have checked my allowed sites and programs and iTunes is listed as allowed. I also hae Sophos anti-virus provided by my university but I have ALWAYS had this, its never caused a problem before.
I also just tried to 'update iTunes' and it said that the update server also could not be connected to 'Please try again later'.

  • My iTunes store will not connect on my computer

Ok, so I've tried just about everything that the apple website has to offer about connection issues, but to no avail. The problem is that I'm not getting an error message, its just simply not connecting. I get the loading bar at the top, but thats it. Anyone have a clue?
This is an example of the screen I've been getting, if that helps any. It just keeps acting like its loading.
After a while, it just stops trying to load and looks like this. So far I havent' seen anyone else having this problem. Also, before you ask, I've already checked my firewall settings to make sure that iTunes is allowed.

    Close your iTunes,
    Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
    (Win XP SP2 & above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
    netsh winsock reset
    Hit "ENTER" key
    Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.
If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:
