ITunes 8 Will Not Play Specific Songs

Alright so, this has happened to me a few times, but it just happened again and is beginning to anger me. Yesterday I imported a CD, as .MP3 into my iTunes Library. I start playing it, and everything is going fine. This morning I open up iTunes and notice the Album Spelling is incorrect so I correct it, and when I did that, I tried playing the 12 songs in the album, but they won't play, nothing happens when I double click on them. I even tried removing them from the library and re-importing them, and now iTunes won't even import them. But when I go to Windows Media Player, the songs work fine. I don't understand this issue, anyone willing to help?
Thank you,
Aaron

MINE IS THE OTHER WAY AROUND... wow that is weird... i have no idea what to do... none of my TV shows play!!

  • I have thousands of songs dowloaded from my cds and purchased from itunes that will not play.  It states the file cannot be found.  What happened to them and where are they?

I have thousands of songs dowloaded from my cds and purchased from itunes that will not play.  It says file cannot be found.  What happened and where are they?

When songs cannot be found, it's either because they have been moved from the original location that you told iTunes, renamed or deleted.
    So have you:
    renamed songs?
moved them to a different loaction on your computer since you imported them into itunes?
deleted them since you imported them?
stored you iTunes library on an external drive? If so, that drive needs to be on and ready every time before you start iTunes.
... or is another programme renaming or even moving them, such as Windows Media Player? (It has been known to if you let it.) Did you previously use Windows Media Player?

  • Older itunes purchases will not play on newly authorized computer...

before i got an apple id i was using my aol account for my itues account id.  eventually got an apple id which i've used to make purchases over the last couple of years.  just got a new computer and the songs i purchased with my old aol itunes id will not play on the new computer.  when i try to authorize the song using my current apple id it says my computer is already authorized to play the song.  any ideas?

I meant to mention that I bought a new song from iTunes since getting the new iPod hooked up as a 'test' and it will not play either. I thought possibly the older purchases were associated with the other player...
    Thanks

    Update!
This is what I did to fix both the skipping songs problem and the iPod verifying forever & not able to restore problem (because of iTunes 9):
    a) I used Disk Utility to reformat my iPod while in Disk Mode using the instructions here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1363?viewlocale=en_US
    and here:
    http://www.methodshop.com/gadgets/ipodsupport/erase/index.shtml#backup
    b) Do not unplug your iPod after reformatting (mine showed up as a firewire disk) - simply launch iTunes ( I went back to 8.2) and follow the Restore instructions here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1339
iPod is recognized, syncs and doesn't skip songs anymore after that miserable experience with iTunes 9!!!

  • ITunes downloads will not play on my PC . . .

but they will play on my iPad2 through iCloud.  There are no errors next to the songs and the downloads were successful--but I can only play them on the one device.  The biggest issue is I want to download them onto my shuffle for running--and I have to do that from my laptop, which will not play the songs.

I have the same problem.  EXACTLY the same problem.

  • My coputer is authorized, but will not play a song just purchased saying you need to authorize this computer

My computer is authorized, but will not play a song I just purchased. It says this computer need to be authorized. So, I type in my user name and ID, and it replies this computer is already authorized.

Delete and redownload it if doing so is free in your country.

  • My Shuffle will not play any songs

my shuffle will not play any songs. when i turn it on the green light stays on for about ten secs and nothing happens. it is the same way when i switch it to the last swtich thing. i have reset it and restored it and updated it and nothing seems to work. it was working fine 2 days ago and it started yesterday to give me problems. any suggestions would be greatly appreacated.

Just try charging it properly, make sure you're inserting it into a proper high-power usb port (and not necessarily a high speed usb 2.0 ) and you can make sure its charging if the light turns amber (orange). You should leave it to charge for 4 hours the first time (from 3 to 6:16 isn't enough), until the light finally turns green, or until u get really bored!

  • ITunes Will Not Play Some Songs

I have all my songs (about 4000) on an external hard drive - a mixture of mp3's and m4a's. Last week it seemed to lose all of my Music Library and sub-folders. However I ran a chkdsk and this seemed to recover them. Most songs that I've played through iTunes since then seem ok. However it is still regularly coming up with a few that just will not play so I'm guessing they got corrupted when the disk had its wobble. I've run an mp3 validator on all the mp3's to quickly identify those. Is there an equivalent utility I can run on m4a's or something in iTunes that will check the validity of all the files in its library?

but then i can open that same file in Media Player, Quicktime, VLC, WinAmp, Nero player and on my iPod.
You have the classic symptoms of iTunes being strict/finicky/incompetent (pick your own interpretation) about slight variations in MP3 formats. Treating the files with a 3rd party tag cleanup program such as MP3 Validator usually solves the problem.
i'm going to have to wait for an update.
Actually this problem has been getting worse in recent years. Use MP3 Validator.

  • ITunes will not play music, songs stuck at 0:00

I know this is a frequent question as I've spent three hours searching through the support discussions here as well as elsewhere online, but none of the possible solutions I found posted worked for me.
The problem, if you're unfamiliar with it, is that iTunes will not play any music (either songs I've ripped or songs I've bought off of the iTunes Store).
I've tried updating iTunes and Quicktime, uninstalling and then reinstalling both, updating my audio drivers, playing with the preferences of both iTunes and Quicktime, made both programs the defaults for all associated file types, and rebooted countless times.
I'm on a 3-month old Dell Inspiron running Windows 7 if that makes a difference.
Any new suggestions anyone has or something random you may have tried that solved a similar problem would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

I'm afraid the problem is more widespread than just iTunes and the update didn't fix it. There's a thread out there about users not getting any sound/audio in Lion after wake from sleep or just having it idle for a long while.
Hopefully, Mac OS X 10.7.2 will fix the issue.
    Thanks!

  • When I click play , my computer will not play the song???

When I click play on itunes, my song(s) will not play. My computer is authorized...any suggestions from anyone?

Why is Itunes not answering this question? Why do we have to do the work of solving problems in their software? That is a question I would like to add here.

  • My iTunes and iTunes Store will NOT play on my computer any longer

For some reason none of the songs in my iTunes library or the iTunes store will no longer play on my computer. I can double click the song and it appears in the little box at the top of the screen but it WILL NOT play. Very frustrating. Is there some setting that got changed some how that I can not find??

  • ITunes purchases will not play on new iPod

I have purchased a new 60 gb video iPod to replace the one I just lost on the freeway (motorcycle). My last one played
my iTunes purchases fine, but my new one will not. They are skipped over. I see the song name but then it skips to the next song. My regular mp3s play fine.
I have an Audible account through iTunes and my Audible purchases play fine. I tried
    (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303854):
    * Restoring and updating the OS in my iPod
    * Deauthorize and reauthorize my account in iTunes.
    * Recreate the iTunes Library
I also tried this from the page (http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=1770668??)
The iPod sometimes forgets it is authorized to play the songs.
    If this happens;
    1 - Quit iTunes
    2 - Restart iTunes
3 - Open the iTMS and log in
    4 - Play a purchased song
    5 - Resync the iPod)
Can someone please help me? I have purchased many songs in iTunes and I'd like to play them. One thing in that last solution mentions playing a purchased song while logged into the store. Does that mean through my "Purchased" area or somewhere else?
Finally, since my iPod serial number is registered under the same apple ID as my iTunes account, why can't it check that way?
    Thanks!

I meant to mention that I bought a new song from iTunes since getting the new iPod hooked up as a 'test' and it will not play either. I thought possibly the older purchases were associated with the other player...
