ITunes 9.0.1 has just deleted most of my apps!

Downloaded the new iTunes 9.0.1 (prompted by software updater) and synced it with my iPhone 3G (OS 3.1).
Now most of my paid + free apps have disappeared off my phone, even after I have authorized my computer with iTunes Store. *** is Apple doing?

My iphone 4 version 5.0.1 has just deleted all my contacts without any explanation. Suddently my girlfriend called and I could only see her number, not her name.
I went to contacts and there was nobody in there!!! Even more, there are also no contacts on my ipad mini!!!! That's weird. What's happening?
I have gone to www.icloud.com and although there are some contacts, contacts are not synced with the latest updates, I also don't know why.
The most important thing in a phone are its contacts! I thought that apple was providing a complete backup solution, but I am afraid it is not reliable.
What can I do? What can Apple offer to me?
Is there a way of restoring an icloud copy directly from the iphone? I have thought on restoring and updating to ios7 and ask for icloud to put my backup copy of today in the morning, but it is possible that icloud does another copy and rewrites the 7am working copy. I have disconnected wifi in order to avoid a copy on icloud without contacts.

Hi Jordi,
I have the exact same problem and judging by the other posts we are not alone. The one thing that seems to be lacking is any official word or support from Apple - a "bury the head in teh sand" strategy appears to be the chosen response from one of the worlds biggest brands.
I took it to my Apple store and they were about as much use as chocolate over gloves and told me "this can happen sometimes"???? Seriously, this from an Apple Genius!!??!?!?
I have not had any joy with iCloud back up so I'm afraid I cant offer any help.
I will be going to Twitter and Facebook to try to get some action from Apple so I suggest we all do the same and create a noise that Apple cannot ignore....

- Unsync/delete all music and resync
To delete all music go to Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Music>Tap edit in upper right and then tap the minus sign by All Music
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup. See:

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If necessary, you can redownload most iTunes purchases by:

Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

There is no way possible for your iphone to delete message by itself.
If your having issue with text - contact your cell phone provider as texting is a carrier feature.

What type of email account is that? Gmail, iCloud, Yahoo, or some individual domain/host/whatever, or an Exchange account?

Latest sync deleted most of my apps including paid for games

my usual sync with itunes just decided to remove most of my apps a few of which were payed for..
i didnt even mean to sync i just plugged it in to charge..

You could use Time Machine to go back in time when your iTunes still had the apps and restore the folder from this backup. The folder is called "Mobile Applications" in user/music/itunes.

This morning I woke up and most of my apps were gone! Thankfully I have iCloud so I just installed them all again..... Does anyone know what happened? I have a iPod touch 4th gen that is running iOS 5. Thanks!

Connect the iPod to your computer and look at the storage used by the various categories as shown in the colored bargarph in iTunes.
If the "other" category is greater than about 1 1/2 GB that usually indicates that the "other" includes corrupted files. Usually restoring from backup eliminated the corrupted files. However, sometimes restoring to factory settings/new iPod is required.

Since the latest iTunes update it takes hours just to update a single app. Never did that before. Why is it doing that now?

It sounds like your are correct and shuffle is turned on in iTunes. Please use the following article as a reference for turning shuffle off.

You can play music in iTunes in various ways.
Shuffle or repeat songs
Do any of the following:
Turn shuffle on or off: Click the Shuffle button. Shuffle is on when the arrows are blue.
Shuffle albums or groupings: Choose Controls > Turn On Shuffle > “by Albums” (or “by Groupings”). iTunes plays the songs in the order in which they appear on the album or in the grouping, and then chooses another album or grouping at random.

The newest iTunes update for the iPhone just deleted at least 15 paid apps

I'm not here to be scolded or have any of the sarcastic or "holier than thou" replies said to me. So cut it out and be serious and save me your self righteous indignation.
Problem: In the middle of updating I experienced an error at the VERY last second of updating that showed me a usb plug and the iTunes image. I researched what this was and found out the problem.
*Item 1.)* all songs lost. So what, I am through with you iTunes, I've backed up and saved so many times without you even validating that fact. I've backed up and without fail somehow all songs have been lost in one way or another so I've come to terms I can't be happy when it comes to having songs. If I don't update I'll never get the new features, if I do update I'll lose all songs on my iPod. (also don't give me the "you need to back up" speech, I know, I accidentally deleted my backup hd and now it is serving as my time machine, however this also permanently makes it useless for windows even after "de-activating" it as a time machine)
*Item 2.)* all applications lost.
*Item 3.)* Able to recover 3%out of 100% of applications:
a. For some reason I've backed up my iPhone every time I've connected and also for some unknown reason it decided to tell me my most recent backup was from two months ago. Negating all paid applications I've made for the past two months. This, to say the least is very agitating. Not only am I angry because I lost all of them, I have no way for the iTunes store to have a shred of sympathy and replace the paid applications even though I have all of the email receipts. (if you know a way to contact them so that I can plead my case, although I've done this before and they basically told me to shove off, please direct me to the proper places to inform them)
I'm not trying to be so mean/mad/uninformed on these subjects but I love apple and their products but their failure to help me every time I mess up is disheartening because their system is set up so that I can't mess up. If I do I'm screwed and need to start over. This will be the 30th or so time I've had to start all over and I'm sick of it. Bloody sick of it.

UPDATE: For some reason it specifically elminated 4 applications, twitterfon pro that was updated to ecofon pro, camerazoom (which was $12.00), and my reddit application.
I'm thinking it failed to finalize the most recent update which resulted in deletion of my applications.

Apple has just deleted my alias - which I was using as my main email address. They deny me creating a new one for 7 days. How can I get in touch with Apple so that they repair what they have broken?

Has anyone had a problems with their alias today?
Apple has deleted mine today; causing me a major headache as they deleted the alias that I use as my main email address.
What happened exactly, is that the @icloud.com alias remained, but the @me.com disapeared. So that the John.Smith alias became valid only for [email protected], but [email protected] disapeared.
To try to restore the situation, I deleted the alias, with the hope of re-creating it: but bad luck, that option is not open to me as I have had 5 aliases active till today, and they now only give you 3, and even once I had deleted 2, they would not allow me to set-up a new one for 7 DAYS.
I can't be without email for 7DAYS, care of Apple. Calling AppleCare does not seem to help, and the line gets dropped once I have explained the problem.
Please help me raise someone at Apple to fix this.

Downloading a movie from the iTunes Store after it has been deleted

I accidentally deleted a purchased movie I was downloading from the iTunes Store. Now when I click on the movie by going to Purchased and clicking on the movie I don't get a button that lets me download the movie from iCloud; instead, there is a button that says "Watch." How can I start downloading the movie again?

Does anyone know how to do this?

Icloud has just deleted my document. First time of trying and it is awful!!

You uploaded the original as a test?
Next time you do something that you have never done before, make a copy. This time you should restore your backup of this important document.
