ITunes 9.0.2 on Windows 7 Version Check BUG!

Hi,
when i run the MSI with logging options, there is these entry, when installing the AppleMobileDeviceService:
The operating system you are running on is not supported. Only Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Server 2003 and Windows codenamed Longhorn are supported.
I use Windows 7 Ultimate and can not install these windows service.
And YES... i deinstalled and reinstalled iTunes several times...

Okay ... let's start checking on possibilities related to the USB machinery and drivers on your PC.
Apple Mobile Device Support installs the iPod USB driver (usbaapl.sys) on a PC (as well as the Apple Mobile Device Service). So it can be sensitive to the state of the USB drivers and USB devices on a PC.
Do you have any non-essential USB devices plugged in to that PC? (Such as a scanner or a printer, or an external hard drive?)
If so, try unplugging those devices (leave USB mice or keyboards plugged in, though), and then doing another iTunes install.
If AMDS still doesn't install, check the manufacturers' websites to see if there are any newer versions of the firmware or drivers for any of your USB peripherals. Also head to the the drivers and downloads page of your PC's manufacturer to see if there are any updates available for your PC that are relevant to your USB ports (like BIOS upgrades or chipset driver updates). If you have any software utilities installed that can affect your PC's performance, also check with the software makers to see if any drivers associated with those software packages are up to date.
Once you're satisfied those things are up to date, try another iTunes install (with non-essential USB devices unplugged).
... if still no luck with getting AMDS to install, we'd better try a disk check. (I've seen disk damage in the wrong place on a PC do strange things to USB drivers.)
Restart the PC, and don't start any applications. (Disk checks can be unhappy if another program is using the disk they are trying to scan.) If your security software does real-time scans of your disks, disconnect from your network and or the internet, and disable your security software. Now right-click your C drive (or whichever drive your Windows 7 is installed on, and select "Properties". Click the "Tools" tab, and start the disk error checking. (It should take a little while to complete.)
If the disk check finds/repairs any damage, try another iTunes install.
If AMDS still doesn't install for you, post back and we'll start checking on other possibilities.

This happened to me after the last iTunes upgrade. The solution for my problem was to completely uninstall and reinstall my security software PC Tools Spyware Doctor with Antivirus) Just disabling it did not work.

This is the simplest fix, if you're still having a problem with it. I had the same problem, am running Windows 8.1. Just be sure to reboot after you copy the dll (dynamic link library) file indicated.
Copy QTMovieWin.dll from: C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support
to: C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes

My library is on a NAS and managed by iTunes on a Mac. I can connect from wife's Windows laptop using iTunes for Windows but every time I do, it Updates iTunes Library. Next time I log in from my Mac it Updates iTunes Library in return. It appears I'm experiencing "Update Wars" between the Mac and Windows versions of iTunes. I would like to allow my wife to stream iTunes songs to her new laptop but I don't want any updates from this source... prefer to manage the library from my Mac and not allow Windows to do any thing other than listen to existing playlists.

Connect the PC to the library on the NAS. Wait while "updated".
Under Edit > Preferences > Advanced make sure the media folder is correctly pointed at the media folder on the NAS. If not correct, close iTunes, wait a few moments, then open iTunes again.
Close iTunes on the PC. Do not open iTunes on the Mac.
Copy the library files, iTunes Library.itl, iTunes Library Extras.itdb, iTunes Library Genius.itdb, sentinel and the folder Album Artwork into an empty iTunes folder on the PC, for example C:\iTunes.
Click the icon to start iTunes and immediately press and hold down SHIFT. Keep holding until prompted to choose or create a library. Click choose and browse to the copied .itl file, e.g. C:\iTunes\iTunes Library.itl
The library should now work properly on the PC, however check the setting for the media folder. If needs be correct, close iTunes and reopen.
Open iTunes on the Mac. It will update again, but that should be last time.

There is some kind of error. The new version of iTunes is 11.1, which although is not available via updates, it can be downloaded from the Apple website here:

After updating iTunes to the newest version you should be able to update your iOS

ITunes Store access causes "iTunes has Stopped working...Windows is check..

When accessing iTunes Store from iTunes, which has worked well for several years, it stops half-way through progress bar and then I get the "iTunes has Stopped working...Windows is checking..."..then " A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you..."
Probably not a related problem, but also, when synching with an iPhone that I recently reset, copying just 188 tracks in selected playlists to transfer to the iPhone, the copying stops and hangs after just a few tracks, so this is unsuccessful too.
Another iPhone worked a synch but fewer tracks to download!
I've uninstalled and re-installed iTunes 9.2 etc - doesn't fix problem. Any help please?

Wow, that is crazy .... but it worked! Thanks for taking the time to post that up as I would never have even dreamed of thinking that the display drivers would stop iTunes working... that *****.
For any one else - this was Windows Vista on a Dell inspiron, went to Start menu-> Settings-> Control Panel-> Device Manager -> Display Adaptors -> right click on ATI Radeon (in my case) and then "Update driver software" and let windows search the web

Is anyone having problems loading the newest version of iTunes (10.6.3) using Windows Vista? My current iTunes program version 10.6.1 keeps telling me there is an update but when I try to load it the information box goes away and nothing happens. I have tried downloading the new version from Apple web site but it brings up a warning screen of " iTunes setup.exe is not commonly downloaded and could harm your computer." I select the action of run anyway and get the next error "iTunes Setup.exe is not a valid Win32 application." What Gives?

Download the current version.
Install it.
When installing, are specific errors being generated?

If iTunes isn't behaving as expected after a system restore on your PC, I'd suggest completely removing and reinstalling it:

I Have downloaded the 64 bit version of iTunes for my Sony running Windows 8. Install went fine and I can get in to iTunes and see the music residing on this machine. However, everytime that I try to run iTunes Match Windows crashes. So frustrating. BTW, this worked fine until a couple of weeks ago. Anyone know what's going on?

How big is your library? I would recommend the following troubleshooting steps:
- Backup your library. Always a good idea before messing with things.
- Create a new library.   Refer to this article for details: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1589. This won't delete your old library, you're just creating a new empty one. Also refer to this article to get back to your old library later.
- Add a few albums into this new library. Not everything, just a small sampling, as a test.
- Activate Match on this new library. You shouldn't have to re-pay, it should just say "Add Computer" or similar.
- At this point, Match should run again. With just a few albums it should complete in just a few minutes.
If iTunes doesn't crash at this point, then likely there's something about your original library that Match doesn't like - what that is I don't know, but at least you'll know it's not your PC.   If iTunes still crashes, then if could be a number of other things, but probably not your library.   My next suggestion (if you haven't already done this) is to uninstall / reinstall iTunes.   If that doesn't work, then my next ideas you won't like.
