Itunes 9.0.3 not updating to 9.1

I've downloaded and installed 9.1 three times now.
It doesn't seem to be taking and my itunes is still saying its version 9.0.3.
any help or tips?

Well, I finally got things working but what a pain.
After numerous downloads and fresh installs of the iTunes 9.1, I kept getting the corrupt file message. I trashed plists, old installs, etc. and still had the problem. I even completely removed iTunes from my computer and tried the 9.1 install and still got the corrupt file message.
Finally, I removed iTunes from my computer, installed 9.0.3, ran software update and 9.1 loaded and all is well.
Instructions to completely remove iTunes from your computer:

NOTE: Do NOT move or touch anything in your ~/Music/iTunes folder.
I downloaded the old 9.0.3 from here:

  • ITunes on Windows will not update any iOS-device

I have three iOS-devices. An iPod Touch 3rd gen (ver 3.1.3), and iPhone 3GS (4.2.1) and iPad. It's been a really long time that I remember that iTunes offered to update any of them. iTunes itself has been regularly updating and is now 10.5.1.42. The PC is Windows 7 Home Premium.
So, no updates being offered when I sync the devices, it will always check and say it will check again in a few weeks. I agreed to borrow my iPad to a friend, wiped it, and the moment he hooked it up to his Mac-iTunes, it suggested iOS5. I then decided I need to get to the bottom of this update issue of my own iTunes. I started by downloading the relevant ipsw-files for my phone and Touch and trying a direct shift-restore update. The result is the message: The iPhone ... could not be updated because the firmware file is not compatible. Same message for the Touch.
I tried installing iTunes on another computer at home, same message if I check for an update. Same error message if I try using a local file. Tried putting the Touch in DFU-mode, in that case iTunes goes through a lengthy update process, but the result is the same 3.1.3 iOS.
Nothing in the hosts-file about Apple. The Touch and the iPhone have never had any beta-releases or jailbreak code. The only thing I can think of is that I have two iTunes-accounts. My regular European one, and one to the US store. However, the second iTunes I installed is empty of any purchases and only has been signed on with my European account.
Any ideas? Have not tried Apple Support yet...if I can even get it for this old devices...

  • I add songs to itunes, but ipod will not update!

I imported songs onto my itunes library. But when I plug it in the usb to update, it will automatically disconnect after 5 minutes, and the ipod will not update. I've tried adding all music, and just checked songs; both do not not work.
    I have version 7.0.0.7
I have about 50% of room left on my ipod.
    Any suggestions??

    Hello Rex225
The best way to resolve the issue is to remove the music from the iPhone and then download the purchase again using the steps in the following article.
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

  • Apps in iTunes on Macbook will not update

The Apps in my iTunes on my Macbook do not update anymore. I also have an iMac with iTunes logged in as same account and those apps update like normal. I have not been able to fix it.
Also, notmally when you view App Thumbnails in iTunes, if you klik on an icon then it expands to show information, latest version, etc....Mine does not do that anymore.

  • ITunes Music Library.xml not updating when adding new songs

I have about 150.000 music tracks on my iMac and iTunes didnt have any difficulty with it. When using the songs in DJ program Native Instruments Traktor Pro, this program checked the latest update of the iTunes Music Library.xml file and everything went ok. Whenever I changed a smart playlist or added songs, my Traktor looked at the updated .xml file and Traktor updated it's own files.
SUDDENLY, and I dont know why, this iTunes Music Library.xml file did not update anymore. Whenever I change a song or add a song, the 'update date' in my finder next to the iTunes Music Library.xml file stays the same (1 May 2010) This means my DJ software does not show the updated/added songs...
Plse help... what should I do... I am a professional DJ and I especially bought this iMac for the purpose of DJ'ing. Because of this issue, I can't use it anymore...

try if the suggestions in this thread help: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2168081&tstart=0.

  • Itunes in win 7 not updating  ipod or ipad

My itunes, Win 7 Pro is not updating my ipods or Ipad for new tracks/song/files. I have tried to authorize the PC but thats ok. I have shut down and restarted PC. Problem still exists.
    any ideas?  TIA

Let me rephrase the question--when I want to add a file from my "my music" to a playlist--the file (and there are several) does not move to the playlist. Hence, I cannot update my ipods or ipads.

  • How to recover my iPhone 6 from disabled without losing my data as the backup in my iTunes is old and not updated.

    Hi,
I have iPhone 6 and the after the screen has broken the phone was starting to enter random passcode from itself until its locked and disabled. I have replaced the screen with a new one and I need to make a backup of my data in the phone and not reset or restore from the phone backup in my iTunes as it's old and not updated. Kindly advise me how to make this task as I have important data I need to not lose.
    Best regards,

You cannot now. The only way to reset the passcode and remove the disabled status is to restore the device. There is no way to make a new backup now.  That is actually the whole point of the passcode attempt limitation and the disabling of the device - to keep someone without the passcode from getting at your data. Once disabled, your sole single recourse is to restore it in order to be able to do anything with it.
At this point you can restore from your existing backup, or as new. Either way, you've already lost the current data on the device.

  • ITunes Last Played does not update when syncing from iPod

When I synch any of my Ipods, the last played field does not update in Itunes.
If I play the song from Itunes. (11.1.5)  Last Played  works fine.
I tried the crossfade solution, but that did not work. My crossfade was already not selected.
    Any other thoughts?
    Thanks

As if by magic it is now working. I went away from the mac for a couple of hours, came back and it started to work. This is scary as I would expect this kind of action on a Mickysoft machine but not a Mac. Ho Hum - at least the problem has been sorted even if I don't know how.

  • I am having to reinstall itunes as it would not update to the lastest version but it wont install

Hi I am having to reinstall itunes on my PC as it would not update to latest version and it wont now do this, just says there is an error

    Hello lindsay106,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
For more information on this, take a look at:
iTunes 11.1.4 for Windows: Unable to install or open
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5376
    Check for .dll files
Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes and C:\Program Files\iTunes and look for .dll files.
If you find QTMovie.DLL, or any other .dll files, move them to the desktop.
    Reboot your computer.
Note: Depending on your operating system, you may only have one of the listed paths.
    Uninstall and reinstall iTunes
Uninstall iTunes and all of its related components.
Reboot your computer. If you can't uninstall a piece of Apple software, try using the Microsoft Program Install and Uninstall Utility.
    Re-download and reinstall iTunes 11.1.4.
    Best of luck,
    Mario

  • Bug in newest version of iTunes: last played data not updating after songs are played

I just downloaded the newest version of iTunes on my Mac. The "last played" data is not updating automatically after a song has finished playing (even after waiting for a while). Sometimes in the older versions it would take 5-10 second for the data to update automatically, but even after several minutes, "last played" still shows as if the song had not just been played.

    RestonMacGuy wrote:
I did something similar, but not the same: I "played" a few tracks from the iPod (fast-forwarding until about 30 seconds from the end) while the Shuffle was connected to my computer and in iTunes, which then caused the "Last Played" field to be updated.
The next time I connected my Shuffle, the Last Played values were updated.
I bet the Last Played was updated after you stopped playing the tracks...IN FACT. if you were watching your shuffle icon, you might have noticed the rotating thingy to the left of the eject symbol, meaning an update was ongoing.
This will happen AS LONG AS the track has "remember playback position" set.

  • ITunes 12 play counts not updating

So... my home Mac hosts my main iTunes library and was on the last version iTunes 11.  I connect to it from my Windows laptop in my office, with the Home Sharing setting to update play counts and dates turned on (I need this for certain playlists to work).  My Windows machine was also on the latest 11.xx version.  After upgrading the Windows machine to iTunes 12.01, this feature stopped working.  I can play music from my main iTunes library on my laptop just fine, but they don't get updated with the last play date and count on the main library - like it did earlier this morning.
I then upgraded iTunes on my Mac that hosts the iTunes library and it's now on 12.01 as well - but the problem is still there.
Anyone else have this issue?  This isn't the first time I've had an iTunes upgrade break this feature.
Is it ever safe to apply an upgrade to iTunes without worrying about a key feature not working any more?

This again happened to me for a couple of week and all of a sudden my phone decided to go through the 'Trust This Computer' question... and once I clicked 'Yes' it started to remember my last played song.
So... that may be the issue - you, somehow, need to go through that 'Trust This Computer' cycle.  Not sure how to force it to do so but someone / somewhere in this discussion board must have the answer

  • ITunes 10.7 will not update/install on computer

Went to update my iTunes on my computer to 10.7 in advance of downloading the iOs6 update for my iPhone 4s today.  iTunes will not complete the install, and doesn't tell me what the errors are why it cannot complete the installation.  (Running Vista).  iTunes was still working at this point.  I then went to uninstall iTunes and re-install it, and now cannot install or open at all.  Any suggestions?

    many thanks, that's perfect.
