ITunes 9.1.1 does not show up in Software Update

I am aware that iTunes 9.1.1 is availible for download at Apple's website, however for some strange reason iTunes always alerts me to upgrade to 9.1.1 but when I open Software Update it says that "Software Update doesn’t have any new software for your computer at this time." I am currently running iTunes 8.2.1 if that helps any, and I would just like to know why the newest version does not show up in my Software Update and if there is anything that can be done to fix this.

If you are the only user on your computer you probably don't have multiple user accounts set up and can disregard that. If you are using iTunes 11 go to View>Show Sidebar. Now see if your iPad appears under Devices on the left side when you connect it. If it does, click on the name of your iPad on the left side and your iTunes sync settings options will appear in folders with tabbed headings to the right.

Missing "message" from above: The iPad "DGMTR" is synced with another iTunes library on DGMTR's MacBook Pro. Do you want to erase this iPad and sync with this iTunes library? An iPad can be synched with only one iTunes library at a time. Erasing and syncing replaces the contents of this iTunes library.

Does a little box come up seeing the iPad as a camera? That doesn't impact iTunes as much as it confirms that your computer sees the device. If your computer doesn't see it then iTunes doesn't know it's there.
If you're plugged into a hub or extender, try plugging it directly into the box or main part of your computer.
If you're using an extension, stop and just use the included sync cable.
Try using a different USB port.
After you installed iTunes, did you restart your computer?
Usually what's needed is the 'apple device driver' which installs automatically, you just need to sometimes trigger the install, using different ports helps with that.
If the simple trouble shooting doesn't help then you can search on the Apple Device Driver and there's more detailed trouble shooting on the site.

Do you have the absolute latest version of iTunes downloaded? If your iTunes software has not been updated in some time, your iPad will not be recognized. With iTunes open, click on Store at the top. Check for available downloads and if there are any, download them. Once you've verified you have the latest software, connect your device again, and it should be recognized.

If you are really on iOS 5 then look in Settings > General > Software update.
Otherwise:
If you are using iOS 4 (or earlier) there is no Software Update in Settings. That feature was first added in iOS 5.
To update you will have to connect your iPad to iTunes on a computer (preferably the one you sync with and backup to).

Nevermind - I answered my own question, which is I CAN"T READ ANY BOOKS I purchased in iBooks on my MacBook Pro. If I want to read on my mac I have to use Kindle or Nook. Which means any book I've already purchased through iBooks has to be read on my iPad. Kind of a drag because there are times when it's more convenient for me to read while I'm sitting with my Mac.

Itunes 10.2.1 does not show remote speakers option

I have been having a strange issue on one of my laptops. I have two laptops - one with Windows 7 64bit and Windows XP 32 bit. On both laptops, I was able to connect to the airport express to stream music to my home theater (receiver) till a few months back. Both have the latest version of Itunes - 10.2.1. Now, the Windows 7 laptop continues to work fine but the Windows XP laptop is having problems. *Itunes does not show the remote speaker option. The airport utility does not recognize the airport express.* In the Windows Firewall exceptions, there are entries for Bonjour (port 5353 UDP), Bonjour Service (mDNSresponder.exe) and Itunes.exe and all are checked. Even if I disable firewall, it does not resolve anything.
The airport express is connected through an ethernet cable to the Belkin Wireless N router. The wireless mode for the airport express is switched off. The firmware on the airport express is version 6.3.
Few differences between the two laptops
Windows XP: I use a Belking Wireless N Notebook card to connect to the Belkin Wireless N Router. Antivirus is "McAfee VirusScan Enterprise + Antispyware Enterprise 8.7.0i"
Windows 7: I use the inbuilt wireless to connect to the same router. Antivirus is "ESET Smart Security 4.0"
Can someone help? I have researched the forum and tried the following things but still does not help.
1. Tried uninstalling Itunes and Airport Utility and reinstalling
2. Tried disabling Windows Firewall

I solved my problem I tried several other programs to play my music and since nothing seemed to work, i started deleting other software from my computer and apparently Uniblue's RegistryBooster was the one that caused the problem. Now able to enjoy music from my computer again

iPad first generation doesn't update beyond 4.2.1, you need at least iPad 2 for this.
If you're using iPad 2 or later, you should connect your iPad to iTunes on a computer and update from there.

i have a HP HP Deskjet D4260 attached to my macs, but the 1.1.1. update doesn't show up in software update. (as 1.1 did)

that the update will only be visible if the printer is connected to your computer or a print queue has been created for an earlier version. well they are.
any suggestions here as i remember that with 1.1 there was only about 100mb installed of the total of 450mb.

here it states that the DeskjetD2400 series drivers are still at 2.3.2. but i thought that with these updates also general printing software is updated

ITunes on Windows 7 does not show iPad2 as a device.

I want to use iTunes to trasfer contents to iPad. iTunes does not detect iPad while iPad shows in Windows Explorer. Last month it used to work sometimes, and every time after I reinstalled iTunes.
I have tried to reinstall iTunes, restart Windows 7 and iPad, and stop other Windows services. iTunes 10.5.2.11 and iOS 5.0.1 are the current versions.
I made an appointment with Apple Expresslane Support later, but wonder if anyone can help me here.

ITunes 11.0.1 does not show purchased apps as 'Install' or 'Download'

For many years including this version, I have been able to tell apps that have been purchased either by a sign 'INSTALL' or 'DOWNLOAD'. For the last 2-3 days, apparently, this has been missing. I see either FREE or prices in all apps, I can't tell which one I have bought and which one I haven't.
Is this server issue or specific to mine? If so, how can I fix it?

Thank you everyone for your confirmation that this isn't a specific issue to my account or my system. This is a very counter-intuitive update as Decodex mentioned it, it is hard to see if we have purchased something, unless you click purchase.
In iTunes app in iOS, the function still works although I don't see a reason why the desktop is to made differently.
One the frustrating point is the competences of iTunes support personal that did not acknowledge the issue and dismiss this as simply a iTunes 11 change (which is not correct as iTunes 10 also has the issue). I was then pushed to a black hole of provide your feedback at this link.
