Itunes 9.1 very slow on brand new laptop.

After installing itunes 9.1.1 on a brand new sony vaio f-series laptop, it is extremely slow. It plays music normally, but when anything else is done (right clicking to edit, selecting anything from the toolbar such as File, edit, etc.) itunes responds very slowly. It takes over thirty seconds for any menu to appear after clicking. Sometimes itunes locks up completely forcing me end the process through Task Manager. Also, Home Sharing does now work on this particular computer. Other computers within the network work fine, but when Home Sharing is activated on this machine, the icon for Home Sharing disappears as soon as I log in. The other computer can see it and each other, but this computer can't see the other computers.

Update: I've discovered on this forum that the problem may be with Sony's media manager scanning my library (currently around 3,000 songs). Has this been confirmed?

Adding songs and editing info is VERY slow on brand new mac

Hello, I have a brand new macbook computer. I'm trying to add songs to my iTunes library, which is mostly empty at this point. As I try to add songs to iTunes, they take quite a bit of time to get added into iTunes. If I try to edit their info (through Get Info), it takes forever for the information to go through. I have my preferences set to organize my music library folder. I noticed that only songs that are in my iTunes Library folder take a long time to get added (so, adding music that's in a random folder on the computer and isn't in my organized library folder gets added to iTunes very quickly, but if I'm adding music that's going to get organized in my library folder, it's very slow.)
I don't remember it being this slow on my older macbook. Any ideas as to why this is going so slow? It's clearly not a RAM or size problem, since this is a brand new macbook.

Thank you for your reply. I forgot to mention that I house my iTunes library on an external drive. I understand that, of course, anything hosted off of my computer would be slower than if it was on my laptop, but this still seems much slower than it was on my older computers (where I also used an external to host the music). Also, I mentioned earlier that if I added music to iTunes that was in a random folder on the external, it would show up instantly on the playlist; but if I added music that was within my iTunes library-folder on the external, it would upload very slowly. Even after it's on the iTunes playlist and "organized" within the Library-folder with the correct titles/folder names, just editing a song (for example, to change the year) would take a long time as well.
Edit: And, I just realized, there is a big delay when I try to click on a song to play. The little spinning color wheel pops up for a few seconds every single time I click to play a new song out of my playlist. I'm sure that NEVER happened in the past on my old macbook when I also used an external drive.

PP5.5 very slow on brand new iMac

I have seen a number of threads similar to this, but none have been helpful.
I purchased a brand new 21.5" iMac late last year.
Processor 2.8 GHz Intel Core i7
Memory 12 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
I installed CS5.5, and found it to be pretty slow. So I got some more RAM. I now hav 12GB of RAM. I saw an improvement, but it's still really slow. Premiere is the worst. When I press play, even on low-res video footage, it often takes a couple seconds to start playing.
I clicked Project Settings, and for Renderer, the "Mercury Playback Engine Software Only" option is grayed out.
I looked at some threads... and apparently I have to manually set a graphics card or something like that? I know nothing about that.
I have finally had enough of this. Very frusterating. I was sold in PP5.5's speed, and it has been extremely slow.

Basically, there is nothing that you can do with that 2011 iMac. Upgrading to CS6 still would not have allowed you to enable GPU acceleration: OpenCL GPU acceleration only works if the GPU has 1GB or more dedicated RAM (and officially, CS6 for MacOS only supports Macbook Pros, not iMacs, with the HD 6750M or HD 6770M and 1GB or more dedicated graphics RAM for OpenCL GPU acceleration on AMD GPUs). Your iMac's GPU has only 512MB of dedicated RAM, as I mentioned. That's too little RAM to even allow the enabling of the GPU acceleration in CS6.
As for the addition of the Thunderbolt external hard drive, that would still gain some improvement in performance, especially since your iMac is bottlenecked by the use of only a single disk (the OS disk for absolutely everything). The iMac's internal hard drive uses a SATA interface like Windows PCs use - and a single SATA connection can only pass data in one direction at a time (this is what I meant by "half-duplex"); a block of transfers in one direction (either read or write) must be completed before any transfers start moving in the opposite direction. And most video editing tasks require simultaneous transfers in both directions on a disk interface (which a single SATA connection cannot perform; this is why we often needed two or more disks).

Why is Firefox 6.0 very very slow on my new laptop (Asus G74) under Windows 7 x64 ?

Hello everyone ! Today I've received my new laptop. An powerfull G74. The first thing I have done was to install Microsoft updates. And then, install Firefox. And then.. waited about 20 sec for beeing able to type something in the url bar. Same thing about tabs. Open a new tab take about 10 secs. I Don't know what I need to do to have the same speed as on my old laptop with Firefox... :/

Premiere Pro CC very slow on brand new iMac

Hi
We have bought a new iMac, set up the Creative Cloud and downloaded Premiere Pro.
We've started a few new projects on this machine and whenever we play them back, the video always freezes on a frame whilst the audio carries on playing. When pausing the playback for the visual to catch up, Premiere takes a while to respond to the pause action.
We've tried changing the video renderer to Open CL, CUDA and Software only and still no luck.
The computer specs are:
Mac OS X Yosemite 10.10.1
3.5 GHz Intel Core i7
16GB 1600 MHz DDR3
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780M 4096MB
Premiere Pro CC 8.2.0
Any suggestions are more than welcome and I will respond with the results.

Yep. That's usually what happens. My review will be centered around my usual "benchmark" of editing 2 AVCHD inputs, one PiP'd into the other, synced with an external audio source, and then exported to an h.264 MP4. CC on my current Mac Pro (modified dual 3.46Ghz Xeon, 48G, nVidia GTX570) takes that task about 1/2t, if t = length of video. Which is pretty damned good. I make about 60% of my living from Pr, and the rest from Ae and other apps (mostly Adobe).
Given the lack of CUDA, at the moment, I don't expect the new Mac Pro to be a stellar performer with Ae specifically. I assume that Adobe is working on OpenCL'ing Ae as much as they possibly can. But from what I understand, it ain't there yet.
(I'd need a TB monitor and PCI extender, too).
I can understand the need for the PCI extender, but why the TB monitor? I'd in no way even remotely consider one of those, just given how ridiculously priced they are. There's no need for one. Does your display have a DP input? You're all set. No? It has HDMI instead? Still all set. It's dual-linked DVI that becomes problematic.

Nightmare slow with brand new laptop

I updated with a new HP laptop, other was six years old. This new HP run so slow, I type faster than it can keep up with the characters. Doing more than ONE task, will freeze the whole computer. Forget trying to have more than one window open on the internet. Forget trying to photo edit online. I just want to take it back - I am so disappointed! I only buy HP products and read all the reviews prior to purchasing this new little laptop. Is there any way to speed this laptop up? Tips or tricks would be appreciated, or it's going back to the "shelf". TIA

ITunes 64-bit is killing my brand new computer!

Ok ... this started about a week ago when I purchased a dvd with a free digital copy from iTunes. I was psyched and rushed home to download it onto my computer. When I tried to play it back, the video and audio did not sync. The audio would continue to run, but the video would stick and jump around. I have a brand new laptop that is less than a month old, so I know it is completely capable of running the newest iTunes ... in fact, it doesn't give me another option. I have to run the 64-bit version.
Anyway, I contacted the "support" people and after ten exchanged emails, I was given the advice to go to an Apple store and pay to have someone look at the problem. It was insinuated by the person "helping" me that it was something I had done wrong. I needed to update my Quicktime and iTunes, I needed to make sure my operating system could handle the file, I needed to turn off all of the start-up programs on my computer. I did everything they said to do and still nothing.
Now, not only will the movie not play, but purchased videos from iTunes won't play ... at all. No video, no audio, no nothing. And yes, I am also having the problem with songs skipping. I hate iTunes 64-bit and want nothing to do with it! Has anyone else encountered these problems? Has anyone fixed these problems? I really need someones' help who might actually be able to give me decent advice.

*One more observation concerning iTunes 64-bit ... I have noticed that when running the program, if I have anything else running at the same time it drastically slows down my computer, to the point where even typing in a Word document is impossible. Websites take forever to download and even iTunes doesn't respond properly; album artwork not showing up, taking forever to respond to simple commands such as pause, and even not closing properly.

Brand new laptop: Incredibly slow and laggy.

My mum received a brand new laptop on Saturday (this exact laptop) it hasnt been overly used as yet but the laptop seems very VERY slow. Browsers take a good while to open, sites like Facebook take ages to load - Farmville 2 for example takes an age to load and even when it does its very laggy.
Why is this band new laptop so slow? Nothing has been installed on it other than Firefox and the spec of the laptop seems pretty reasonable. Windows 8 is horrible but thats another issue.
Can anyone help or give any advice?

Do you open farmville from the laptop or from the internet? Have you checked the speed of your LAN or wireless?
Which are you using wireless or LAN NIC?
When you open application on the laptop is it slow?
Trying to determine if it is the connectivity is slow or if it is your laptop.
Also what version of AMD Catalyst are you using?
Here are some things you can do to make sure you are fully updated.
Make sure you have the most current .NET Framework 4.0
Make sure you have the most current DirectX 11.2
Make sure all of the other Microsoft Updates are complete as well. Missing Updates can cause issues.
Uninstall the AMD Catalyst you have now, before installing the Beta version.
I know most are trying to use the AMD Catalyst 13.9, which is used Windows 8 64-bit.

Very slow to open new window

How to fix very slow opening window. I have vista 64. Since the last foxfire update it is very slow to open new windows. It can take some windows opening over a minute to open. (yes minutes not seconds)
Once a window is open I can open in new tab with no problem, but not with new window. (I like to have many windows open at a time)
When l click to open a new window either from a link or new window, it seems that nothing is happening. Then clicking to open another one which seems to open faster. Then all of a sudden the first window decides to open after about a minute or so. Sometime it seems to hang longer than other times.

I did try the safe mode and didn't work. I did make iexplorer my default and then back again to foxfire and it somewhat worked. It was work not bad (but not as good as before) until I rebooted and it seemed the more I used it the better it became. Go figure :)
Well I just did another firefox update to 4 and it works perfect and maybe even better than before. (or I got use to how slow it was :) )

ITunes sync is very slow?

iTunes sync is very slow with several minutes of the spinning color dot. Usually happens during the last step (7) of the sync. I then discover that even though I marked to sync all photos from Aperture file, photos are not synced. iTunes seems to be getting more and more of a problem. Any thoughts?

Laggy touchpad on brand new laptop

Hi everyone. I got a new HP Stream 13inch touch screen laptop just yesterday. I realized today that the touchpad (I don't have a wireless mouse of any kind) has been a little slow and laggy. It hasn't frozen up or anything, it's just laggy. Sometimes it will shift in another direction the second I stop using it. It's kinda annoying me and also worrying me, since it's a brand new laptop. Earlier today, I noticed it was doing this, and I restarted my laptop. After that, it was working just fine and I thought it was just one of those glitchy things that happen randomly. But it's happening again right now and Idk what to do. I don't want to have to restart my laptop every single time. Please help! This is my 3rd laptop already and I don't want something bad to happen to this one, too.
