ITunes 9.2.0.61 & QuickTime 7.66.73.0 Windows 7 64-bit Application Errors

Hi,
I recently installed iTunes 9.0.3.15 on a Windows 7 64-bit PC and everything worked great. Upon purchasing an iPhone 4, I was told by iTunes that I needed to upgrade to version 9.2 with iPhone 4 functionality. After doing so, I am presented with the following errors when I try to launch either iTunes or QuickTime:

I have already tried completely uninstalling ALL Apple software, cleaning the registry, and reinstalling, but the same error messages return. As indicated above, this happens when I try to launch the program and is preventing me from opening the applications. Please let me know if you have any ideas or suggestions for resolving this problem.
Thanks!

I completed all optional updates except for the MS Office Help files and the Creative audio driver and I was still unable to open iTunes 9.2.0.61.
I never actually tried opening QuickTime directly before now...but I just removed 9.2 so that I could give it a try. After wiping my system clean of all Apple software, I installed a fresh copy of iTunes version 9.0.3.15 once again. I verified that the program opens fine and appears to work normally (I didn't actually attempt to sync). However, when I tried to open QuickTime separately, I received the following error:
Problem signature:

So, to answer your question, it appears the ntdll.dll crash is a pre-existing condition that I didn't discover until now... Any other suggestions? I am using the KLite codec pack full version which has tons of video codecs...any idea if that could be causing some type of conflict with QuickTime?
Thanks again!

iTunes and Quicktime don't work on Windows 7 64-bit. I tried to uninstall and install the package according to Apple support article (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923) but still the same problem. I even tried to stop the Bonjour, it didn't help either. When I try to run either iTunes or Quicktime I get a Windows error message "iTunes has stopped working", with details like this:

Taken as a whole, the symptoms suggest that another application (other than QuickTime itself) has stashed old QuickTime componentry in your system files.
So just in case we'll go looking for older QuickTime componentry in the most common locations for it to be stashed.
First we'll need to change some view settings.
In your Start menu, open Computer.
In your Organise menu, select Folder Options.
In the View tab, make sure that "Show hidden files and folders" is selected, and Hide extensions for known file types is unchecked.
    Click OK.
Now in Computer, open your C:\ drive (or whichever drive you have your operating system installed on).
    Open the "Windows" folder.
    Open the "SysWOW64" folder.
What files and folders can you see in there with QuickTime in the title? (In a standard installation of Quicktime you should be seeing precisely two files... QuickTime.qts and QuickTimeVR.qtx ... and no QuickTime folders whatsoever.)

iTunes 9.0.x is certainly compatible with Win7 64 bit since I use that exact setup on 3 different PCs. Two suggestions for your installation problems:
1)Download a new copy of the 64 bit installer from Apple then, instead of just running the itunes installer right click on it and try 'run as adminstrator'. In my experience that clears up a world of problems with program installation in Win7 and Vista. This is necessary even if you're already logged in as an administrator.
    2) Try the previous version of iTunes (9.0.3). You can get a copy at http://www.oldapps.com/itunes.php?old_itunes=54 again right click on the file and "run as administrator"
    Good luck, hope this helps.

  • Hi, i am also facing the same problem in my windows 7 64 bit showing error R6034 and now lost itunes, cannot reinstall as well

Pls help to resolve the error in installing itunes for Windows 7 64 bit showing error R6034....

    Hello sensuci,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
For more information on this, take a look at:
iTunes 11.1.4 for Windows: Unable to install or open
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5376
    Check for .dll files
Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes and C:\Program Files\iTunes and look for .dll files.
If you find QTMovie.DLL, or any other .dll files, move them to the desktop.
    Reboot your computer.
Note: Depending on your operating system, you may only have one of the listed paths.
    Uninstall and reinstall iTunes
Uninstall iTunes and all of its related components.
Reboot your computer. If you can't uninstall a piece of Apple software, try using the Microsoft Program Install and Uninstall Utility.
    Re-download and reinstall iTunes 11.1.4.
    Best of luck,
    Mario

  • QuickTime Plugins have problems on Windows 7 (64-bit)

Uninstalling/reinstalling QuickTime did not fix the problem. Still get a script error and no QuickTime ActiveX plugin installed when accessing a web page with the embedded player on Windows 7 Pro 64-bit with Internet Explorer 8 (64-bit).
I did more experiments and found the following: Windows 7 Pro 64-bit comes with two versions of Internet Explorer 8; one is 32-bit and the other is 64-bit. The 32-bit version of Internet Explorer will install the QuickTime ActiveX plugin and load a video; however, the Controller bar at the bottom of the player is just pure black--you can't see the controls. If you click on the right place, it will play the video, but you can't see the control your clicking on. This exact same behavior also occurs in Firefox 32-bit, Chrome 32-bit and Safari 32-bit when running on Window 7 Pro 64-bit: they all exhibit the same problem with their respective QuickTime plugins.
So, there appears to be *two issues*: 1) The QuickTime plugins run impaired in 32-bit browsers running on Window 7 (64-bit); and, 2) The QuickTime ActiveX plugin is incompatible with, and will not install in, the 64-bit Internet Explorer 8 browser running on Windows 7 (64-bit).
If anyone at Apple is paying attention--Please fix this and issue an update to include plugins that work in both 32-bit and 64-bit browsers when running on Windows 7 (64-bit). Thank you.

Apple engineers generally don't read these forums. The best way to get information to them is to use the feedback page:
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/feedback
or open a Developer account (the "Online" program is free) and use Apple's Bug Reporter (this is usually the best way for an issue like this but you may not want to open a Developer account just for this purpose).
    Regards.

  • Cant install itunes due to "Unsupported 16 bit application" error

    Hey everyone.
A couple weeks ago my iTunes got messed up after my pc froze. Since then, iTunes will pop up with "installing" when my iPod is charging, but nothing happens.
I have tried to re-install with the latest version and with old versions, but I keep getting an error that says "Unsupported 16 bit application."
Is the anyway I can fix this and get iTunes to install?
    Thnaks for your help.

If I remember correctly and if you do some research 16-bit execution is not supported on 64-bit Windows.
See results of a Google for

  • Why does Quicktime crash my computer? Windows 7 64 bit

So I like to edit videos and for my camera I need quicktime to view and import files. I got a new computer and whenever I open quicktime to do that, my computer lags a bit and then just crashes. It says that the card is not in the right drive (F) but it is in the F drive. It then slowly destroys my computer until it crashes. I have uninstalled and reinstalled too, it didn't work. Is anyone else having this problem and if so how do you resolve it?

  • ITunes 9.2.1 doesn't recognise my iPhone 3G (Windows 7 64-bit)

    Hi there
I recently upgraded to iTunes 9.2.1 and the software no longer recgnises my iPhone. Windows does recognise the phone, but it doesn't show in Devices on iTunes. I've tried all the tips on the Apple website several times now (uninstalling/reinstalling iTunes, rebooting, removing all apple products) but nothing works.
It worked fine before I upgraded to iTunes 9 and incidentally my iPod shows up fine. Please help I can't sync my music, calendar or contacts.

I had the same problem at first install. My phone, once plugged in, was not being recognized by either window or iTunes. Same OS and same version. I tried switch USB ports and had no luck. Finally I changed USB cables and for some reason that fixed it. It finally allowed the update of the drivers to kick in and then my iPhone be recognized.
I am not sure if this will help or not but you might give it a shot. Please note that the first cable that would not recognize at first was a 3rd party and once I grabbed a new cable to try it was a apple specific.

  • Has anyone got a solution for the inability to update or reinstall itunes 10.6.3 on a windows 7 64 bit computer

I have been unable to update or reinstall Itunes to my windows 7 64 bit computer.  I have tried most of the suggestions to date to no avail.  My outcome is a dialog box that says itunes was not installed. . .  At one point, it created a situation where my CDDVD drive was disabled but a windows troubleshooter got that back working citing a "class filter driver problem" that it repaired.  Also, Itunes comes up and plays from the optical drive (and the hard drive) but will not write to the CD or refresh my podcast list.  Anyone?

  • Any recent fix when installing latest itunes version 11.1.4 on Windows 7 64 bit PC?

Any fix to the latest itunes update version 11.1.4?  I do not want to try to install again on my Windows 7 64 bit PC after spending hours correcting the last attempt with error code R6034.  When this happened my ystem went out of control and my HP all in one printer failed as well.  After following the instructions to correct given on this site, I was able to get system back to previous condition minus itunes.  I would like to reinstall my destop running windows 7, 64-bit as well as my laptop running Windows 8.1, 64-bit but am afraid to encounter the same poblem as my first attempt to install.  Is there a new update version in the works that does not cause error code R6034?  If so, when can we expect it to be released?

At the time of posting this reply, the 11.1.4.62 version is still the most recent version I'm aware of.

  • ITunes for Windows 7, 64-bit version not connecting to iPod

Hi, everyone! I'm having problems connecting my iPod Touch to iTunes version 11.0.1.12. I'm running Windows 7, 64-bit version on my PC. Whenever I open iTunes with my iPod Touch connected to my PC, iTunes immediately gives me the following error message:
"This iPod cannot be used because the required software is not installed. Run the iTunes installer to remove iTunes, then install the 64-bit version of iTunes."
This confuses me because I already have the 64-bit version for Windows 7 installed on my PC. I've already uninstalled and reinstalled the 64-bit version three times; however, I'm still getting the same error message whenever I connect my iPod Touch and open iTunes.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

now nothing happens when I connect the iPod by USB - it's not even charging.
Do you have a laptop, Nin?
If so, the following document might be of some assistance with that:
