ITunes 9.2.1 not compatible with 10.6.4?

I always, faithfully, respond to Software Update, and today I updated to iTunes 9.2.1, and sorely regret doing so. The app opens but hangs (and must be forced to quit) if I actually try to use iTunes... it hangs if I try to play a song, or click on a playlist in the sidebar, or try to use the menu bar (File, Edit, View, etc.). This software simply does not function. AT ALL. What's happening to Mac? Safari is nearly as slow as FireFox, and often will not open (especially) Google search pages. Now, they put out a failed version of iTunes... any solutions other than reinstall an older version?

I may be having the same trouble on my mid2010 Mac Mini with 4 gigs of Ram.
Checked Activity Monitor - System Memory, iTunes gobbles up memory from launch until there's nothing left, system drags down to a crawl.
If I start a song playing, this stops and iTunes hogs on to whatever memory it consumed to the point the song started playing, 430mbs as I type this.
Already tried uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes, can't find the com.apple.itunes.plist file to thrash.
Same OSX and iTunes versions on my MBP does not display this problem.

ITunes 7 shared music not compatible with previous versions

I installed iTunes 7 on my PC and have iTunes 6.0.5 on my Mac. From my Mac, my iTunes shared library on the PC is greyed out. When I select the shared library, I receive the following message:
"The shared music library ... is not compatible with this version of iTunes."
However, iTunes 7 on my PC can see and play sounds from the shared iTunes 6.0.5 library.
1.42GHZ Mac mini, Sony RX-500E, 2Ghz Mac OS X (10.4.7)

I find this same situation and it would be nice if the two were compatible. I don't want to buy another computer just to play music from a shared library but I like the new iTunes for other reasons. I bet that's what Apple wants me to do though.
I am unsure why the two are not compatible because .mp3 and .aac files can be played in both versions and the files are unchanged. It would be nice if they would give an option for backwards compatibility but why would they spend the money to keep customers happy?

I wanted to update my iTunes to 10.7 so it would be compatible with my iPhone but it requires OS X 10.6.8 or later and i have OS X 10.4.11. Do i need to update my software if so how do i do that?

ITunes 6.0.5 Not compatible with 64 Bit Windows/AMD

I currently have 6.0.4.2, while upgrading to 6.0.5 and error window pops up to say that iTunes 6.0.5 does not support 64Bit. Is there a way I can get to the older 6.0.4.2 download, as I need a new install. My burner software erased over the itunes drive support and now I cannot burn CD's from iTunes.

I have quite a similar problem, I reinstalled Win XP x64 and wanted to install the latest version of iTunes as well. I hoped that this version might fix some problems I had before with QuickTime (it seems there is an incompatibility between QuickTime and a Security Update for Win x64). But instead, it refused to install.
This is really annoying, I bought several songs at the iTunes Music Store in the past and now I can only listen to them on my iBook. That's better than nothing, but I would like to have my music on the PC as well.
I don't want to install an older version of iTunes because there where some security issues in the past.
In another thread, someone mentioned that there will be a 64-bit version of iTunes/Quicktime somewhere in the future, but there's no release-date for it.
Is there a way to give feedback to Apple?

Let's first try the following document, only be sure that none of the boxes in the compatibility mode tab are checked (not just the compatibility mode box itself):

Hello forum! i just setup a TC with two AE with air iTunes. They both work excellent with the sort pauses. Today i decide to run the Ethernet cable to each AE. Did the setup as commanded, i just tested it with a Macbook and MacbookPro and both work fine no more lack(yey). Everything is up to date TC 7.5.1 and AE 7.4.2.
My problem is that when trying to connect from a Windows 7 pc just one AE is connected, the other gives me this message ""The Remote speaker is not compatible with this version of iTunes"" i did every i could, hard reset on both, new setup same OS on both... so i really do not understand what the problem.
i have the lasted iTunes on the pc( re-downloaded twice today)
or
if i just select the AE that give me the error work's fine, but when i add the second one it says it been used by someones else.
please help.......

What program do you run?
Please contact the software provider to confirm if this 32-bit program can run in 64-bit Windows.
As some programs can only run in specific version of Windows, please download the right version of software.
Most programs designed for the 32-bit version of Windows will work on the 64-bit version of Windows. Notable exceptions are many antivirus programs.
Device drivers designed for the 32-bit version of Windows don't work on computers running a 64-bit version of Windows too.

As I said the iTunes program on the computer. You open iTunes on the computer and go to the View menue in the upper rightand then click on preferences. Go to Devices and delete the backup.

I had the exact same thing with my shuffle - same error message saying that it was corrupt so I restored it (wiping everything in the process) and the same message came up as soon as it reloaded. You can transfer itunes purchases from an ipod. File>Transfer Purchases

ITunes Video not compatible with 5th generation 60GB video iPod

I downloaded several videos from the iTunes store to my Mac G4 1.67 powerbook. When updating my iPod, I received a message that some of the videos, really only one, was not downloaded to the iPod because the format was not compatible with my new 5th generation iPod. It seems to play fine on my G4. How can there be a compatibility problem with at video purchased from iTunes and downloaded to a Mac and transferred to a 5th generation iPod ? Who is writing the review? It's not an apple official. How reliable is information in reviews? I've read reviews that have incorrect information. Why not put the fact that a course is incompatible with iPod right in the course description. It would save a lot of time and wasted bandwidth. Why was the book allowed to be downloaded onto an unsupported device?
