ITunes 9.2 Whole Albums Not Playable

Since upgrading to iTunes 9.2 whole albums (some of which purchased through iTunes) are unplayable and now have no artwork.
Some of the content is MP3 format, some is M4A.
I've tried creating a new user and launching iTunes from there but the problem persists. I've also trashed the prefs and the problem is still there.

your profile suggests you're on OS X 10.4.7. if that's not the case, please update your profile accordingly !
anyhoo, try this:
check if you have read & write permissions for your music folder. in finder, right-click on it and +get info+. unlock the little padlock (you may have to enter your admin password) and change the permission settings. next, click on the little gear-shaped icon and +apply to enclosed items+ like so
you may also give everyone read & write access.

ITunes Matched an (obscure) Album NOT in Store - What's Going On?

So I added an album to my iTunes that I was sure was not in the store, and it wasn't - it's a rare instrumental version of somewhat-rare album, and definitely out of print regardless, eBay has 1 copy for $83 - however iTunes "Matched" it all, and didn't "Uploaded" it...
So my question is this, is it either:
1) iTunes just uploaded my files and mistakingly indicated the album was Matched and not Uploaded?
2) iTunes matched my album with ANOTHER user's version already uploaded?
or
3) iTunes really does have the album in their database, just not in their store, and they are indeed matching my album to their files and letting me download nice 256k versions to other iOS devices??
I would appreciate any input or thoughts, I didn't see this situation listed anywhere else...

I also tried to verify this by purposefully introducing some artifacts into a track, then adding it to iTunes Match again, "Matched" not "Uploaded", then downloading the matched copy to check, and sure enough there was no artifact. So it's either NOT just a version of my uploaded copy, as we think, or it was my previously saved upoloaded copy since I matched it with iTunes a second time, or it's someone elses...
I think the best explanation is like you describe, they have tracks in their database available for match that they do not make available in the store.
Anyone else experience something like this?

I'm a classical music lover, and when I purchase CDs there are always liner notes with translations, artist bios, etc. Some sites offer this as part of the album download, but I've not seen this on iTunes. Does this feature exist?

Not for most albums, no. There are a few albums that are "iTunes LP" that have such extra material, and those will be identified as being those.

That never really took off, though, so such albums are rather a small percentage of all available. There's a list here:

ITunes wont open; states library not playable...

Long story short: Upgraded to iTunes 7.0.1. Used iPod with new iTunes. Went back to iTunes 6.0.5. Everything fine. Plug in iPod into new iTunes (whoops!). iTunes won't open since it can't play the library since it was "made from a later version of iTunes."
Any suggestions?

I've seen this happen with certain malware on a PC, try Ewido http://www.ewido.net/en/download/ and scan for any malware on your PC

When you gift from an iPad, it only allows gifting of a whole album, not an individual track.
But if you log in to your iTunes account on a computer (PC or Mac) you can gift a single song by clicking the little triangle and choosing "Gift This Song" from the menu as shown.

ITunes burns data cds only, not audio cds (CD diagnostics included)

I am unable to burn audio cds in iTunes but I can do so using other software. iTunes will burn data cds (not playable in most of my cd players) but not audio cds. iTunes freezes after "checking playlist" (CPU usage 100%). I followed all the troubleshooting tips in iTunes "help burning CDs."

I then close the dialog box. But when I open it again, the radio button is again selected for the Data files.

When you download something from the iCloud, it is a brand new licensed copy. Your iCloud account just contains a notation that you have this app. It isn't storing an actual copy of the app from your Mac.

Where are you looking to download them from ? You might be able to redownload them via the Purchased link under Quicklinks on the right-hand side of the iTunes store homepage on your Mac's iTunes. If that album shows there but doesn't have the cloud symbol against it for redownloading then that implies that it's still in your iTunes library

Open iTunes on your computer and log in with your apple id that u ise to purchase the songs ,on the left it says store or apple app store ,then on the light side you should see purchases click on it you will see all the stuff you purchased shoose music then you will see your albums with a cloud next it click on the clouds the will start downloading .
Or open iTunes and log In with your apple I'd the computer will let u know that u have stuff ready to download.

Songs greyed in iTunes and not playable on iPhone

Hi, it seems I'm faced against an issue I'm not able to understand and fix.
Yesterday I tried to play some songs in my iPhone Music library. Songs were there, album coversheet is fine, everything seems ok. But even if I click on start playing icon nothing happens. This behavior is shared amongst several songs... Strange, very strange.
This morning I noticed that those songs are greyed out in the iTunes view of my iPhone while those I could play are just in bold. More, the first have a sync small icon. Have a look at the screenshot:
In red the greyed out song I cannot listen (other are shown in the screenshot), in green the ones I can.
In the computer iTunes library all the songs are playable:
In the screenshot the same portion of playlist in the library from the computer. All the songs are playable correctly.
I tried to sync again computer => iPhone without success: iTunes doesn't recognize the greyed out songs to be sync and I cannot listen to them.
Has anyone some explanation for this stuff and possibly some resolution?

Ok, autosolved
I first uncheck the full sync from iTunes to iPhone and this resulted into a full clean up in the iPhone library.
Then I check again the sync and started the sync process. All the songs are then been updated in the iPhone, too and no one is greyed out.

The large text size makes your post almost impossible to read.
Excessive use of bold or capitals (also) makes posts difficult to read.
You can drag most of the column headings left or right, or right-click on the header to turn columns on or off.
Once you've used File > Display Duplicates or Shift > File > Display Exact Duplicates you can use File > Display All or the Display All button at the bottom of the list to restore the display.

oke i'm not done with the whole thing, but i'm doing that right now. Why are the 3 tracks I bought on iTunes a yr ago are missing from the track list just imported from a CD of the whole album ?

1st time question on here...I bought 3 songs off iTunes from the album Feedback by Jurassic 5 last year and those songs are in my librabry. Sometime later I purchased the whole album but on CD. Tonight when I imported the CD and it asked to replace existing duplicates and I said yes. Now I have two identical albums of Feedback in my library. One album has the tracks I bought from ITunes the second has all the tracks but the ones I bought from itunes. When I select to play either albums only the tracks listed play not the whole orignal album. How do I correct this? I want one album listed with all the orignal tracks. Also i'd preffer to keep the apple lossless version i imported from the CD - not the ITunes version. Thanks folks

I have a similar problem , where I had a cd I imported then bought a bonus track on iTunes not on the cd but belonging to the same album, but iTunes showing it to me as 2 separate albums.
My iTunes on the computer now shows it as 1 album, but when I sync it to me device it is still 2 albums and the album with the 1 song asks me if I want to complete it.
Sorry I have no solution yet, I just wanted to share that I too have a similar problem.

If you're trying to do this from an iOS device, you can't. You'll need to use iTunes on a computer to be able to give a single song. If you are using a computer, tell us what OS and iTunes it's running and where you're encountering difficulty and we'll try to help further.
