ITunes 9 and type library

I'm using COM to access itunes.
Currently I'm on 8.1 and type library 1.12
I downloaded the newest documentation (sep 2009), but the helpfile refers to 1.12 and version 8.1.0.52.
Is the a version 1.13 of the type library?

If you have under 250k tracks then the only viable cloud-based soultion I am aware of is Amazon's Cloud Player which costs $25 a year.

This will not solve your iTunes Match problem but it will mean you have a backup service that costs an equvialent amount. You can stream that music to your iOS and OSX devices too with Cloud Player applications.

    Hi Divine Inspiration,
You wouldn't connect the iPod to the iPad for data transfers. Music is stored and shared either through a computer or iCloud.

  • TS1584 I had my iTunes libray on my old PC, just transferred to my new PC, downloaded iTunes, and my library is there, but can't play songs, says can't locate original files?

I had my iTunes library on my old Dell Inspiron, transferred all info to my new HP Pavilion PC, downloaded iTunes and my library is there, but when I try to play songs, it says can't play because can't locate the original files...how can I activate the songs to play?  The iTunes library is also in my Windows media file, and the songs will play in there, but I set iTunes as my default music manager and want the songs activated in my iTunes library so I can play them and sync my iPod.  Help?  Thanks.

This happens if the file is no longer where iTunes expects to find it. Possible causes are that you or some third party tool has moved, renamed or deleted the file, or that the drive it lives on has had a change of drive letter. It is also possible that iTunes has changed from expecting the files to be in the pre-iTunes 9 layout to post-iTunes 9 layout,or vice-versa, and so is looking in slightly the wrong place.
Select a track with an exclamation mark, use Ctrl-I to get info, then cancel when asked to try to locate the track. Look on the summary tab for the location that iTunes thinks the file should be. Now take a look around your hard drive(s). Hopefully you can locate the track in question. If a section of your library has simply been moved, or a drive letter has changed, it should be possible to reverse the actions.
Alternatively, as long as you can find a location holding the missing files, then you should be able to use my FindTracks script to reconnect them to iTunes .

  • Just opened iTunes, and my library is gone! I have some questions..

I just got home and opened iTunes, and my library was empty. I had alot of music and playlists and stuff, everythings gone.
I connected my iPod to the computer and erased everything off my iPod, then added all the music back to my library from various folders on my computer (what a headache).. It was really annoying and took alot of time.
Why did this happen? I've never had any problems before. How can I prevent it from happening again? And if it does happen again, is there anyway I can get my playlists and ratings back? I know I can copy my entire library from my iPods hard drive, but I don't want to do that because I already have the music on my computer and it would just waste space.
    Thanks!

You'll be able to download previous iTunes Store purchases in iTunes.

I had to reinstall Itunes and my library and ipods did not reinstall how do i get these back?

    Hello DHolland1
You can do one of two things, first is to locate the songs on your computer by looking in the iTunes Folder. Once found then drag and drop them on top of iTunes to import them in. The second option is to revert back to a previous version of your iTunes library to get the data back before you installed. The articles below will assist with those steps.

  • HT1589 i just launched itunes and my library is gone, how do i restore my library?

i just launched itunes and my library is gone, how do i restore my library?

    Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!

I can open iTunes and play library contents but cant see any names or information in the library or any kind of wording at all, please help.

Your synced music (and audiobooks) will go into the iPad's Music app, and films and tv shows into the Videos app - on an iPad the iTunes app is just the store

  • Moving iTunes and music library from one computer to another

I need to move my iTunes and music library with purchased music, playlists, ratings, and legally downloaded music to another computer. How do I do that?

Try posting in the iTunes for Windows area. You'll be more likely to get a quick and accurate answer there than you will here in the iTunes for Macintosh forum. Good luck.

  • Transfering iTunes and music library to another computer

    Hello,
I just got a new computer and I want to transfer my iTunes and music library to it. I would normally just transfer the files to the new computer, install iTunes, and rebuild my library, but there are two things: 1) I don't want to lose my playlists and 2) I have purchased music from the iTunes Music Store and I'm not sure it will play if I do it like that.
I have a feeling it has to do with deauthorizing the old computer.
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks in advance.

Welcome, Fred, to the Apple Discussions!
Here's a post on transferring your Music Library from one computer to another:

You will definitely have to authorize your new computer. And if you won't be using the old one to play purchased songs any more, you should de-authorize it. Have a look at:

  • Copy iTunes and iPhoto library to new air mac

I've just bought a new air mac. I have my entire music and photo library on my imac - which is running snow leopard. I back the imac up to a 1tb time machine.
I tried to use migration assistant over wireless to migrate info to my air mac but this failed - as expected over wireless.
I ideally want to copy over itunes, iphoto , files and folders and my windows for mac to the air mac and retain them on my imac.
Is there an easy way to copy my information to my new air mac ?
There seems to be lots of hacks and options but I'm not usre which is the best way ?

    Perhaps this will help: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301748.
Your iPhoto library is located in the /Home/Pictures/ folder. If you've already migrated the home folder then everything has been moved including the iTunes library which is in the /Home/Music/ folder.

  • Common itunes and iphoto library across many apple devices & users using AExtreme?

Is it possible to maintain a common itunes library and iphoto library shared across multiple users and multiple devices in a home via airport extreme or via airport express and a NAS?

i realized that an itunes library folder is different from an itunes media folder although the later resides in the former. turns out while each user account with apple should have its own library they can point to the same media folder.
right now i have my dad and my itunes library on my mac point to the same media folder inside /Users/Shared and that way we are able to access the same music and movies for our iphones and ipads.
i guess now all we need to do is move this to a network drive and make itunes point there.

  • Updated iTunes and my library is gone now...

I updated my iTunes on my iMac to the 10.3.1 version.  When I went to reuse it again after rebooting, I noticed my desk top was wiped clean and placed into a folder called "Desktop" in my HD.
Then when I went to open iTunes, it opened as if I had never had iTunes installed on my comp before.  My music was wiped out, playlists gone, etc..  I found my music on my HD, however I could not get iTunes to load up with my personal information.  What did I do wrong?  Or what can I do to get my iTunes back to what it was (with playlists, play counts, music, album art, etc.)
**I think I made a mistake by dragging my music from  my HD into iTunes...**
I also noticed that my desktop was restored with my files and folders again when I rebooting my computer for the second time...and these items were no longer placed in a "Desktop" folder on the HD.
Not sure what's going on with that iTunes update.
I also have a Time Machine...so if need be I can restore my computer back to what it was before I updated iTunes, right?  And if I do...how do I prevent this whole issue from happening again when I update iTunes?
Thanks so much for your time everyone...hope someone can help!

Sounds like Itunes lost your Library file right after update for some reason. You should not have copied the music again. Quit Itunes, In finder go to where your music is stored and drag the Itunes library file from there to the desktop. In the Itunes Folder, open the Previous Music library sub -folder and see the library file w/the date of when you upgraded Itunes (not the one where you dragged the music back in). Drag this file from this inside folder to the Itunes Folder and name it Itunes Library. Now open Itunes and it should be all there. If  it it did not help, may yyou used the wrong "previous library file" You could check your library files to find the one you need--Quit Itunes and launch it while holding Option button, click on Choose library and navigate to the Music/Itunes folder and go inside the Previous Music and try one of those library files to see if they have your staff as you remember it. If you find the correct one, you would need to switch your Itunes Library file w/the one you found (drage the original out of there and then put the one you found in its place adn name it Itunes library) and then switch Itunes library back to it.

  • Share one iTunes and iPhoto library between 2 computers

I have a network with an iMac and a G5 and I'd like to use a ethernet hard drive to store a common iTunes music and iPhoto library so either computer uses the same files and isn't depending upon the other computer being turned on (so I think this rules out a firewire or USB external drive). Any suggestions. Both computers would need read/write access to the ethernet hard drive. Thanks.

If you turn on iTunes sharing in the network settings and then point each copy of iTunes to that ethernet HD, it should be fine.

  • Time Machine Backup Potential Warning - Omits itunes and iphoto library

I recently had to restore from time machine, only to discover that in over one month of backups (since upgrading to Leopard and replacing carbon cloner w/ TM) it in fact never backed up my itunes and iphoto libraries. No warnings, no prompts, no messages to the effect that the backup wasn't backing up ALL of my files. Both these folders resided as subfolders in a media folder, not in their default locations (no warning about that being a problem either...). Now I am trying data recovery, but looks like I will be out 4000+ songs and thousands of irreplaceable photos -- the reason I was backing up in the first place.
Trying to remain composed, I wanted to put this out there as a warning in case other folks are relying on TM and end up in the same position, and also to invite suggestions for possible recovery fixes (in addition to using prosoft data recover 2)
    thanks

well this post made me go double check my TM. I was able to see both my iPhoto DB and all my iTunes songs. My iTunes are on an EHD, but I was able to check albums as I added them. I just happened to remember when I added a new song and was able to look at the day before this and it wasn't there, then the day after and it was. Also on my iPhoto I was able to see it grow in size from Dec 30th until today in TM.
I know this didn't help, but maybe it will make folks check it out to see that TM is or is not working. At some point I hope to get around to cloning my HD, as you can never have too many backups.
