states this app unable to run on this PC

    Hello jgrn76,
It sounds like you are getting an error stating that the iTunes installer cannot be run on your computer. I would try downloading the 64 bit version of iTunes from here:
    iTunes 11.1.3 for Windows (64-bit)
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1615
If issues persist when trying to install it, I would try running through the steps in the article named:
Issues installing iTunes or QuickTime for Windows

Otherwise, would you mind elaborating a bit on what the error message says, word for word?

  • Siri can't understand "Rate this song 5 stars"

My goal is to rate all of my music.
So I have a playlist of all 'unrated' songs, that I typically play to/from work in the car during the home-work-home commute.
So I'd like to be able to instruct Siri to rate the current sing playing by just saying 'rate this song 4 stars' or something like that.
That would be the least distracting to my driving and allow me to use the commute to rate my songs.
    Other commands could be :
    -Add to playlist <playlist name>
    -Remove from this playlist
-Copy (or move) to playlist <playlist name>
I thought that this would have been one of the most useful Siri command sets for the music playing while driving/moving context.

I this is very strange indeed.in my case it's exactly the opposite that is happening.Siri has no problem understanding me on my iPhone 5 but all of a sudden starting two days ago, Siri Eye in my Honda Civic doesn't understand me or parts of what I'm saying only....

  • With iOS8.1 I can no longer sync MAC iTunes playlists to my iPhone. Purchased new song with iTunes and it is on my MAC but will not update to iPhone when I sync!

With iOS8.1 I can no longer sync my iTunes MAC playlists to my iPhone!  I purchased a song on Itunes store and put it into a playlist on my MAC.  When I sync (as usual) with my iPhone, the playlist no longer updates to include the new song (i.e., playlist stuck at 16 not 17 songs)... yes, all devices are authorized... If I turn on HOME SHARING it will work, but the moment you disconnect, everything goes away... What is APPLE doing?

From my post on what seems like the same issue (found here: https://discussions.apple.com/message/21087892#21087892)
    Take the following steps:
    1) while connected to wifi, toggle off then back on the Show All Music and iTunes Match options shown in my original post. Important: I did this step before, but wasn't connected to wifi, and my music disappeared. Subsequently, I connected to wifi and turned off and then back on those options and everything came back though it was grayed out and my only option was to download music.
    2) To get streaming over cellular back, go into Settings>General>Cellular and scroll down to the "Use Cellular Data for:" options and make sure the iTunes option is set to 'On'
The above steps will bring back the streaming capability which seemed to go away when you update to 6.1. It didn't ACTUALLY go away, but something about the update toggled off the iTunes option in step 2 above.
I did a final test by turning off wifi, opening Music app and selecting a song. It played successfully without downloading! Crossing my fingers, but I think I'm good to go!
    Hope this helps!

  • Set up new iPhone 5 with iCloud restore, then iTunes created new library with only content already on phone. How do I find and sync everything in original library?

My daughter got a new iPhone 5 and we set it up using the option to restore her iPhone 4 backup from iCloud. This worked great and everything on the old phone showed up on the new phone. Because we were traveling, we weren't able to sync the iPhone 5 with iTunes at that time.
She purchased new apps and music on the iPhone 5. When we returned home she synced with iTunes, and it seems to have created a new library, with only the content currently on the phone. I don't know if it prompted her to do this on the first sync or not - she doesn't remember.
So in iTunes, the library now only shows the music on the phone. A sync isn't doing much now because when choosing the phone in iTunes and selecting each content type across the top (Apps, Music, Movies, TV Shows) the box is unchecked to sync that content. When I check the box to "Sync Music", iTunes gives a warning:
Are you sure you want to sync music? all existing songs and playlists on the iPhone Becca's iPhone will be replaced with songs and playlists from your iTunes library.
Same goes for apps, except that warning also mentions that the apps and their data will be erased and replaced.
At some point she was also getting a message that this iPhone was associated with another library, but I'm not sure how she had triggered that. She says she canceled out of that. I can see all of the music
How do we get iTunes to see the "old" library of songs, videos and apps without losing the ones she's purchased already on the iPhone? The music files themselves are still on the computer, and include music both purchased from iTunes as well as music ripped from CDs. Thanks for any advice!

  • Can iTunes sync multiple songs with the same name?

My iTunes library has multiple songs with the same name (but they point to different files on the filesystem).
Curiously when iTunes syncs to my iPhone it will only ever sync two of the files, even if more exists. I suspect what is happening is described below, but I have no way of verifying it:
Let's assume I have 5 songs named IdenticalName, on the filesystem these are named IdenticalName.mp3, IdenticalName 1.mp3, IdenticalName 2.mp3, and so on.
I suspect iTunes is syncing the filename without a number postfix, and the file with the "1" postfix and not continuing with the rest of the files.
Has anyone seen similar behaviour? Did you find a workaround (other than renaming your tracks)?

can you manually discover the new instances on the new server?
Then just make sure the name that appears in Grid Control is different.
e.g. prod.world is on server A and B. When you discover in Grid control, you can make it prod_B and you will see the latter without any problem.

  • I tried to set up a new library for my old ipod nano so i could update songs on it however when i tried to import songs from a cd it crashed and i had to end task therefor not getting to sync the new songs with ipod nano. now i cant find old library

However during the process of adding new songs itunes crashed and i had to end task therefor not getting the chance to sync the new songs onto ipod nano. later when i plugged in my current ipod touch all my songs have disappeared and i cant find the original itunes library i had for it! is there anyway to get it back? i have tried pressing shift when opening itunes but still cant find the original itunes that i had!!

Since all of your music came from your computer in the first place, then it should still be there and should be included in your backup copy of your computer.
" it told me when i pluged hers in 2 ipods could not use the same account"
This is not true.  You have misunderstood.
You can sync as many ipods/iphones/ipads as you like to one one library.

  • URGENT PLEASE HELP: iTunes Will Play Songs With No Sound.

Hello all. I recently did the following and significantly screwed up my iTunes:
-Tried to move my directory to an external hard drive.
-This didn't work, so I then had to reload my iTunes.
-I did this by doing the standard copying the .xml library file to the desktop, deleting the old library files and importing the new .xml into the iTunes.
-However, I now have music in my iTunes, but when I click on files, they'll play but with no sound. No exclamation point comes up next to them to signal they're missing, but just no sound.
-Tried uninstalling and then reinstalling the latest iTunes. Still nothing.
I also tried dragging a random song into iTunes to see whether it was just a directory mix-up still, but no dice. Right now, the directory for my iTunes is Macintosh HD:Users:name:Music:iTunes:iTunes Music.
    Please help!!!!

Well, that could be, but before thinking of an hardware issue, first check all possible software settings.
    Try this:
In System Preferences>Sound there are two volume sliders.
Set the Output volume about halfway. Now move the Alert volume slider just a little bit. This normally will invoke the Mac to play the selected alert sound.
    Still no sound?
Can you connect a headphone to the PB?
If yes, does it have sound?

  • How to stop iTunes from adding songs to library automatically???

I love iTunes and almost everything about it. Pretty much the one and only complaint with it is that every time I download a music file (not to my music folder), iTunes can be completely shut down, but starts up and adds the file to my library. I download a LOT of random files that I listen to once and delete immediately, or I will download music to one folder and move it to my music folder at a later date, so having iTunes automatically adding all of these files to the library on its own free will is going to force me to uninstall it. Is there any way to stop iTunes from doing this?????? Even if it were to just add the files only if I played them in iTunes vs any file I add my my computer?

I think you aked this before and didn't get an answer. I don't really know, but here goes.
Any thing iTunes plays it adds to the library and I guess that iTunes is set as your default player for the type of file you are downloading.
You don't say exactly what you are doing but you are using another program to download music files. I am guessing that somewhere in the Options or Settings of the program you are using there is a setting to play after downloading, maybe you can turn that off?

  • Adding a new song with a different computer..?

Ok. I'm on vacation in Costa Rica right now, and I'm using my aunt's computer. My iPod already has music on it, which I put into it on my computer from Texas.
A while ago, I downloaded a song and I would really like to put it on my iPod...so I downloaded iTunes on this computer. But whenever I try to add it, it gives me:
The iPod "Lovelitz"* is linked to another iTunes music library. Do you want to change this link to this iTunes music library and replace all existing songs and playlists on this iPod with those from this library?
    * = the name of my iPod.
Is there any way I can get around this? Obviously I don't want to erase all my songs off my iPod and just have this one song on it. Any help would be greatly appreciated! I'm desperate to have this song on my iPod, haha.

    Nevermind! I figured it out.

  • Moving iTunes to new PC with different drive structure

    Hi
I have just purchased a new laptop.  My current Windows 7 laptop has iTunes in the default file locations c:\users\username\music\itunes etc.
My new laptop however has a partitioned disk with d: being the data drive.  I have copied all the iTunes folders to the d:\ drive and set this as the media folder in iTunes.
I have tried copying the old library files across to the new PC but iTunes fails to find the files, and even after manually resetting a few files still doesn't recognise the new location.
For info, the new c: drive is not big enough to hold the entire iTunes media so I can't put it there and then move.
Any ideas how to get iTunes to recognise the media in the d: drive and keep my library intact.  At nearly 350gb of video and audio I really don't want to lose it, and after 2 days of trying am tearing my hair out.
    Thanks for any help.
    Rob.

Copy your entire iTunes folder from C:\Users\<Username>\Music\iTunes on the old laptop to D:\iTunes on the new one. Hold down shift as you start iTunes and keep holding until asked to choose or create a library. Click choose. Navigate to D:\iTunes\iTunes Library.itl. That should be it.
Since you've already copied over the media you can probably save some time by copying over a fresh copy of the files in the iTunes folder (inc. the Album Artwork folder) and then move the iTunes Media folder into the correct place inside iTunes.

  • Can't install iTunes on new notebook with windows 8.1

First, sorry for my bad english, i hope you can understand what i am trying to say.
I got a new notebook and wanted to install iTunes. First it worked but then i needed to do a system restore because of a virus.
So iTunes was no longer on my notebook and i tried to reinstall it, but it does not work. I always get "try to install new, ERROR 7 (Windows error 5).
I searched through many communities and tried things like activating the Microsoft Frame Network or manual deinstalltion, restarting the computer, ...
    Please help me

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

  • Linking itunes on new computer with library on external drive

I have just purchased a new PC and want to run Itunes on it. I had moved my library to an external hard drive which I want to use with the new computer. I have downloaded iTunes to the new computer but I don't know how to get it to find the library on the external drive. Is this an easy procedure even for someone with limited computer skills?

Thanks for responding Chris. I followed the instructions from Apple and moved the music files over to the external drive. I'm not sure what that left of itunes on the old computer. Now I've downloaded itunes to the new computer and even though the external drive is connected itunes library is empty. I can see that all the music files are actually on the external drive, I just don't know how to get the two linked. I'd like to keep all the music on the external drive to conserve space.

  • Loading iTunes on new PC with Vista disables CD/DVD-RW Drive

When I have loaded iTunes on my new Toshiba Laptop A205 with a Pioneer DVD-R/W drive running Vista Home Premium, the DVD drive stops functioning and when I open Device Manager properties, there is an error message: "This device cannot start. (Code 10)" When I click the button to "Check for solutions..." the message comes back: "COuld not load drive software"
I have uninstalled and reinstalled twice and the issue is consistant. Does anyone have a clue for a solution?

I have the same problem!!! I'm running on Windows Vista, have a DELL Inspiron 530 desktop, and have a Toshiba/Samsung TSSTcorp DVD+-RW TS-H653A ATA Device for my optical drive with the latest drivers. When I install the latest version of iTunes, things are great, when I reboot, my drive "disappears" and shows an "error 10" in the Device Manager. When I uninstall iTunes and reboot, the drive is recognized again! I went a step further and pinpointed the problem to specifically iTunes (versus some other burning software i.e. roxio).
Also, this is not a registry key problem! I read the forums and went in and deleted the upper key and the lower key already had GEAR--something.... whatever Microsoft said should be in the dialog box. When I changed my registry keys, yes my optical drive was recognized, but then iTunes said that it needed to be reinstalled because some files were now missing, so i reinstalled it, rebooted, and my drive goes missing again! ARG!
PLEASE SOMEONE OUT THERE HELP!!! My sister has the same system practically, but on a DELL laptop, and she doesn't have this problem. What's wrong?!
