Itunes access on guest account

I was setting up a Guest Account today on my iBook and I was trying to read my iTunes library from the same location as the Administrator location. My iTunes library is located on my external hard drive. Is there any way that I would be able to use the same library for both accounts?
p.s. I tried to change the location of the library on the Guest Account to the external hard drive, but no music was added. I then tried to add one song just to see what would happen to it and the song lost the artist and album names and was categorized under Unknown Artist in the library on the external hard drive.

I normally use my computer under the Windows XP administrator account. However, I've been advised that this might not always be safe for various reasons. So I logged on using the built-in Guest account. ITunes launched automatically (there was a brief message about it "installing" itself) and scanned both my C and D drives for any and all music files, then it added them to the main library/playlist. The only problem I have with this is that music files on the D drive were copied into the iTunes folder on my C drive. Will I have to go back into the Guest account "version" of iTunes and re-point each duplicated song manually, then delete redundant copies on the C drive?

When I first got XP a few years back, I was given the same advice. I quickly learned that many things don't work right without admin permissions, even things that seemed they should. So I decided it was bad advice, and went back to running the regular way, in my admin account. If you are worried about security, make sure you are running anti-virus and anti-malware programs.

That would be a lot of work. It would be easier to go into Preferences, repoint the iTunes media folder location to where you want it, run Consolidate, and then clean out what you don't want. If you are planning this, first read the Help item on Consolidate so you understand what it will do.

FileVault 2 guest account is greyed out

Yesterday I performed a clean install of OS X Lion for my MBP (early 2011) had some kernel panics recently and I was told that it could be a software related problem. Anyway I installed all of the updates, switched on File Vault, Back to my Mac and everything's looking good except for I can't access the guest account. When booting there's no prompt for signing into the guest account and in system preferences the guest is greyed out.
Before my clean install I had File Vault enabled as well and there was a guest account I could log in to. I'm not sure what's wrong but I suspect a problem with Software Update. I already had to install several updates manually but am not sure if there's still something missing.
Any help would be appreciated.

How do I allow "Guest" account to access my music?

I can't believe I am having such a difficult time with this.
I'd like all the accounts I have set up to be able to access my music library. And if I add music I'd like each account to access the new music without having to update each library. I've read other posts and I can't quite grasp how I share the library.
If I can't share it, how do I move the library from my folder to the guest folder?

It's even worse!
I tried putting the music folder into the shared folder.
I still couldn't access them from the guest account. And worse, I can't get them back into my original account. They are not erased (thank god!), I can see them in a folder, just can't pull them up on itunes.
Should I do the "consolidate music"? I'm leary of making a whole copy as I don't have enough hard drive space.
Now I am going to rant....This should not be that difficult!!!

Why does my itunes work in the guest account but not my administrator account?

I have tried to reset, retry, restart, reinstall and restore itunes on my pc to figure out why it won't work on my administrator account yet it's fine if I sign into my guest account. It worked fine one day and the next, just didn't work. I have Windows 8.1. Any ideas?

Make sure that mouse keys aren't on. System Preferences > Universal Access > Mouse and Trackpad
System Preferences > Language and Text > Make sure that U.S. is selected. If there are multiple languages selected there will be a flag in the menu bar and make sure that that is set to U.S..

I also have the same problem, however if I use Firefox or Opera sites with ssl connection work fine. Still, I can't use Google Chrome (ssl), Safari (ssl), the Mac app store (generally), or the iTunes store (generally). Both the iTunes store, Safari and the app store won't respond, and Chrome displays this error: (net::ERR_TIMED_OUT). The problem persists regardless of what network I'm using. Also, when trying to access the keychain or iCloud, the process will not start (will hang). I didn't have these problems at all before updating to 10.7.2.
Sometimes rebooting helps, and sometimes not. If the problem disappears by rebooting, then it only lasts a few minutes before it reappears. It is very frustrating, especially since there doesn't seem to be any obvious or consistent way of which to fix it.
I'm also using a Macbook Pro 13-inch mid 2010.

I have a PC I use at my vacation house. Need to know if there is a way to allow the guest account to have access to my iTunes library so that they can listen to music and/or watch movies either on the PC or streaming to my AppleTV. I just don't want them to be able to delete or change what I have set up. Is this doable?

There is a possibility in iTunes, by having two user sessions active :
Login to one of the "regular accounts" (one that has full access to the iTunes library"). In iTunes, allow it to share all/some of its library.
Now, keep iTunes running, and just login to the guest account. (=> the existing session is not closed !)
In iTunes, you will find under shared music the iTunes (server) running on the other account, and it will stream whatever you have allowed to share from the account above.
People using this guest account will have "read-only" access to whatever you wished to be shared, and cannot change any (meta)data.
(only minus : need to keep one session running in the background)

I moved my iTunes library from an external hard drive to my new Time Capsule (it is in the Data folder). I can access it fine from my user account, but my husband who has an account on the same MacBook Pro cannot. When he tries to access the Data folder it has a red circle with a white line indicating that he does not have access. I have used Airport Utility to change the file sharing (enable file sharing with time capsule password and airport disk guests access read and write). But still he has no access on his account. The only think of that might be different is the location of the files. The iTunes Music folder is on the Time Capsule but not inside a Data folder. Each user's iTunes Library files are stored in the usual location in their home directory on the machines. iTunes' preferences are set to point to the folder on the Time Capsule.

I'm having some friends round in a few days time and would prefer to have my computer on the Guest Account so that they can't change any of my settings or mess about with any of my work, but we'll want access to my iTunes library so that we can have some music on.

You can either go into your iTunes preferences and Share the library (and turn on look for Shared Libraries in the guest account) OR you'll have to move your iTunes Music Folder to the Shared folder on your drive so that they can access it from the other account.

Mulitple hard drives that i do not want Guest account to be able to access

i have a MacPro with 10.5.5. i have my main hard drive, one for time machine, one for my iTunes library and another for iPhoto library. i also have three external hard drives to back up all of the above. i would like to set up a guest account that has access to various programs, but NO access for the other hard drives. i have tried the parental controls and content, but it seems to pertain to folders, and not hard drives.
any suggestions?

I have figured out an easy way to do this without the use of a third party application.
1- locate your drive in finder
2- right click and "get info"
3- extend the "sharing and permissions" tab at the bottom
4- authenticate to make changes
5- under "everyone" change the privilege to "no access"
6- lock up!
I tried this and when I signed onto the guest account the hard drive showed up as a folder with a little red icon. I was not able to access the contents of the folder from within the guest account.

I did a factory restore and then restored it with iCloud back-up. I have been using lots of Apple products and i have used three different email adresses. Almost all apps restored perfectly but everytime i try to play a song in the Music app, i asks me for a Apple-ID i had no idea i have used.
Hence:
I lost my password for my original iTunes account
I can't recover it because the email address it is registered under is not longer valid
How can I access my old account?
Can't find a place to change the email address to my new one without the password which I no longer remember.
There is no way to just erase Apple-ID's on my device either.
What to do? Should i ju give up and start from scratch and delete 2 years of stuf?

If you can remember the answers to the security questions when you set up that account - I think that you can reset the password without needing email authentication. You can try it here. Read it and see if it's possible. But if you can't remember the answers to the questions it will not work.

Try heading here. Click "Manage your account", login and change your primary email address. You'll then be sent a confirmation email to your new primary address that will ask you to verify it as your own. Click the link, log in, and you're done.

Have you failed to maintain a backup copy of your computer?
