ITunes account in various countries...

I have an account with a UK credit card, using a the Switzerland iTunes.  I am now in USA and have just bought a gift card to "redeem" so I can buy app/music from the States. Everytime I try to "redeem" it asks for my Apple ID: Therefore not letting me access the iTunes store in the States to use the gift card!
Any help, greatly appreciated!

A gift card needs to be redeemed onto an account in order to use it as any purchases that you make with it need to linked to an account. To redeem a US gift card you will need a US billing address and US iTunes account (all gift cards are country-specific). You could update your existing account to have your US billing address (you won't be able to change countries if you have a balance on your account, have an iTunes Match subscription, or have outstanding rentals and/or season passes), or you could create a new account with your US address.

  • How do you set up an iTunes account in two countries

I have an address that I use in two different counties. How do I set up two iTunes accounts; one for each country.

iTunes accounts are not designed to be used in multiple countries.  It affects a few people but probably makes it simpler for Apple given the complexities of international copyright.
You would have to set up a separate account for each country with a different AppleID.  Each account would have to have separate credit card information for a CC issued in that country, with a physical address in each country.  If you do this, remember that items purchased under one AppleID are not transferable to another.  Then too you will have issues with authorizing your computer for  downloads (a 90 day wait period for changing authorizations).  There's a host of issues with having purchases scattered between multiple accounts.
You can change country for a particular account, again once every 90 days if I recall correctly.  However, that has its own set of issues which people have encountered when trying to do something such as update an app that is only available in the other country.
You could likely make it work 90% but it won't be simple.
Technically you are not supposed to use an account while out of the country. People seem to get away with it but Apple can do things to stop you.  E.g., "The iTunes Service is available to you only in the United States, its territories, and possessions. You agree not to use or attempt to use the iTunes Service from outside these locations. Apple may use technologies to verify your compliance." - http://www.apple.com/legal/itunes/us/terms.html#SERVICE

  • Itunes account on various personal computers

can i have the same itunes account on my laptop and desktop? wanting to download music onto my ipod from both computers

You can use the same Apple ID on up to five computers, but you can automatically sync an iPod with only one computer. You can, apparently, manage music manually with multiple computers if you want, but be careful to make sure you keep copies of your purchases on the various computers because you can't re-download (though you might be able to "file" > "transfer purchases"). • Best way to manage multiple iTunes accounts (from different countries)

Ok, wasn't sure if this was the best community to ask this question, but here goes.
My wife and I have two iTunes accounts, one originally from the United States, the other originally from Australia. Over the years content has been purchased using both accounts.
We currently reside in Australia and primarily view our content on Apple TV. So far we’ve had no problems logging into either account and accessing all our content.
Now, I have a fear (perhaps an irrational one) that if we choose to permanently reside in one country (Australia, the US, somewhere else) that at some point Apple may cancel/restrict one of these accounts. Since there is no way for me to merge all our purchased digital content into the one digital library, we’re now wondering the best way to manage this?
I see there is a new "family sharing" feature soon to be launched, so that may be half the solution (assuming it will work with family members in different continents). If so, the other half of the question is, will we be able to still purchase content on both accounts? While in Australia since April we have rented movies on both accounts, but have only purchased movies etc on the Australian account (we can still do this on the US account, but we haven't risked it in case it gets cancelled because Apple decides we're no longer in the US - in other words, we don't want to spend $$$ on movies we may not be able to access in future).
What do others think? What is the best way for us to manage our scenario? Or am I worried about nothing and we can continue purchasing content on either account without fear of “losing” it later?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated! I did try and ring Apple, but the guy refused to give me advice until I provided my details and I did't want to do that at this stage.
    Thanks everyone for your help!
    MM

You may lose the ability to purchase content from the USA, but any content you've already bought will remain accessible. Back everything up.

  • I have an ipod touch that i first recieved in the united states, now i am currently residing in canada. my question is can i have an itunes account from both countries without wiping out all the songs and apps. on my ipod??

please help, i am wondering if i can have both an itunes account from the usa and canada on the same ipod without wiping out my music and apps.???

You can retain the apps and music for the USA account.  However, you can only use the iTunes store in the country you are physically located.  Thus, you can't update the USA purchased app when in Canada.  See the following too:

  • How can I update the apps. with the new iTune, that's really silly especially I have two iTune account for different countries

I used 2 iPhones and a iPad, 2 Apple ID for different countries so that I can download apps. from different country.  Its a pain and sometimes no possible to update the apps. on the ISO devices.  Apple really needs to fix this aspect.  Also the new iTunes is so difficult to use, please bring back the old one.

    When Itunes opens
    1) Click on drop dow list button top left under the player controls
    2) Select Apps
    3) At the bottom right there are two buttons, Check for updates and Get More Apps
An Alternative is when iTunes opens in the top menu Click on View, Show Sidebar. Then you will see your apps page as in itunes 10. Click on that option and as before you should have two buttons, Check for updates and Get More Apps.
NB this is all within Itunes NOT the iTunes Store

  • Can I have 2 iTunes accounts (in different countries)?

When I want to use my iTunes store, it asks me to "Create an Apple Account for x iTunes store".
Now, I study in country A, and have a bank card there. I live in B, and have a bank card there too.
The question seems to imply that it's possible to have an Apple Account for each iTunes store (as long as one has a billing address in the country in question).
    Is this indeed the case?

  • Two iTune Accounts in Two countries with Two computers

    Okay,
I have been buying and using my iPod with my Canadian account and the Canadian Music Store. I do alot of work in the US and have a US account in the US Store. I bought the "Lost" series and a few songs on the US account while setting up my new iPod Video 30GB. But the video that I bought on my canadian account is not authorized to play now that I bought on the US account.
How can I do this? I buy and do everything legally but I want to be able to share my legally bought music and content between two computers and two accounts, any suggestions?

Of course. If you have XP, you can create two user accounts, each with a different library, or make use of the Smart Playlists.

Hey, I just got my computer back up after getting rid of a virus. I am trying to reload my music, pictures, apps, back into my iTune account from various iPod, iPod nanos, and iPad.

  • Can I merge my Australian iTunes Account with my UK iTunes Account?

I'm an Australian living in London and have an iTunes account in both countries.
Is it possible to merge these accounts?
What if both accounts could link to my @me.com account - or is .me not going to be around forever?
Please Apple.. solve this problem with one universal email or account. For such a brilliantly simple company, this is a problem that needs a solution!

    Thanks for the feedback Ed.
It was 18 months ago now that I moved over so inevitably I've setup a UK iTunes.
With iCloud I now have 3 accounts - UK, Australia and @me.com!
Surely there is a way to combine all three and have one universal password?

  • Multi iTune accounts in iPhone

I have 2 different iTune accounts for different countries.  However, even after I changed from Account A to B in iTune and App Store, the App update is still stuck in Account A and won't let me to update the Apps only available to Account B.  Suggestions?

Question for you.   I have the same problem BUT...  I can not update my Iphone via the phone because it shows my other account.
I'm not sure why you can't update your phone?
The phone updates don't need an itunes account.
I go into both accounts via computer and I have no idea how to "update" my apps from there.
Updating the apps in itunes is easy too.
Just click on the apps "tab", and you should see "XX Updates available" in the bottom right corner.
Click on that and choose the update options.
It should help you through switching accounts on the fly.
Can't I just change (and how do I do it) my phone to the correct account I want to use?
As I said above you can only have one account active on your phone.
You can't change apps to other accounts, so if you'll have to download/buy the apps again using the one account.
But my phone has apps from three itunes accounts and I have no problems updating apps or my iphone.
I use one mainly, but buy apps on different accounts depending on country and how I want to pay.

  • When i first created my itunes account it selected the local country i lived in, now i have changed countries and it does allow me to buy any apps as the credit card is not valid in that country. what do i do?

You will need to sign into your account using the iTunes app on your Mac or PC and change the region/country for your account. If you do not have a bank card for the new country, you should be able to make purchases with iTunes Gift Cards if they are available in the new country.

  • The mystery of multiple itunes accounts and countries

After about a year , i think i get it,  but could someone just confrim this for me . I used some analogies, helps me thing about it .
Icloud account ( using apple id) is like a parent account that sychs your devices with mail, notes, contacts etc.
Generally speaking, you dont want to change this too often ( if ever)  .
Itunes store account is like a child of Icloud, you can have many Itunes store apple IDs (children)  . Although there is always a favourite child, the eldest child which shares its Apple ID with its parent, the Icloud .
All children ( apple IDs) have to be authorised to bring their toys(music ,apps) to your  mac and on your phone and other stuff .  They can bring their toys to 5 parties ( computers)  .
For the eldest child, all his toys, they work well with the eco system, if he loses toys, the store just gives him new ones, they even have a history of toys that he bought . But were your parent to move countries, and chage the apple ID country address . You cant go back to that store so easily . You can buy duplicates from the local country store though, but not so easy to show them you already bought the toy before. your purchase  history is gone . Even if you convince the new store that they owe you the toy, once you walk away, and lose that toy again, you have to prove it over again . ( purchase history will never update your overseas purchases)
Now when new versions of the toys come out, the eldest child can update his no problem . but the other kids, if their toys were bought in a different coutnry, and their ID's still associdated with that country,  they have to go to that store to update their toys . Iphone does this automatically . But when it gets to the store, and you try to update. theres a problem . You see Icloud parent took the wrong child's passport .. What i am saying here is, Iphone takes you the foreign coutry store where you made your original purchase, but if you were logged into eldest son's account alredy, you wont be able to do anything until you log out and in with the store id for the foreign country . You arrive at the right country, but with the wrong passport .
Its often hard to know which passport to take before you are already boarded and on the flight  .
Heres a start...gonna come back with more, but please....does this make sense ?\

Yes, just make sure that you log into one account and Authorize that computer for that account and then log into the 2nd account and authorize the computer for that account as well. I do this because my wife and I both have iTunes accounts and we share our purchases. Once you do this, you should be able to sync with anything from those 2 accounts without being logged in.

  • I can't delete an itunes account that my xhusband also has on his iphone and my email account as well.  He can read my emails but I can't delete this itunes account because I can't access it for various reasons.  Short of paying apple to delete is a way?

I still think my xhusband can see my emails on his iphone since I had downloaded an app on his iphone using my itunes account. Now I can't get into this account for various reasons.  Is there any way of deleting this itunes account short of paying apple to do it?

You can't delete an iTunes accounr/Apple ID. All you can do is stop using it. What you can do is change your Apple ID password, as well as the password for your email account. That will put an end to this.
