ITunes account issues

So....I have some questions about iTunes home sharing.
My family backs up our main iTunes library to our 27" iMac, with the majority of the tracks being saved onto an external hard drive. I have a 17" MacBook Pro that I take with me to work every day-can I still sync it to a Home Sharing with my iMac at home? It would only be connected to the network at night. And if so, how is this different from having it connected permanently to the network with my iMac?
Also-can a Home Sharing network use multiple iTunes accounts? Me and my dad have different iTunes accounts (for password and download reasons), and it would be excellent if we could sync both of their music/app purchases to the Home Sharing.
And finally, if we can't use multiple accounts, how hard would it be to merge our two accounts together?
Any support would be greatly appreciated.

  • Apple TV not playing purchased content. iTunes account Issue?

    Like many others, I'm having issues getting Apple TV to play purchased content for a specific iTunes account. After hitting the play button, the movie or TV show thinks about it then reverts back to the information page.  This has been happening for just under a week.
    I have two other accounts on my Apple TV, and they are both working OK. I asked another mate with an Apple TV to load my account onto his unit and he gets the same issue.
    In an attempt to rectify the issue I have:
    Reset my password fo itunes. No luck.
    Restored the factory settings on the Apple TV. No luck.
    Double check account and billing details. No Luck.
    I really want to get this resolved. Can someone suggest a fix please!

    SOLVED.
    I had the same problem minutes ago... I solved it by signing out my apple id from the apple tv and then sign in again. Movies start playing now! Hope this works for you too

  • Multiple itunes accounts issues...

    I have an itunes account under my username/password, my wife has a separate account under her username/password.  Can someone help me understand why the exact same information (songs, playlists, movie list, etc) pulls up on itunes regardless of which account we are logged in under?  Should I not log in under her name and see her music, etc?  Login under my name and see mine?  Why are these merging and how can I fix this?

    Why do you think you had to create a new .me account to enable iTunes Match? All you had to do was enable it on your existing iTunes Store account ID.
    Be that as it may, iTunes Match does not transfer across iTunes store accounts; it is associated with only one account. However, your use of the word "sync" in this context is confusing and unclear. When you use it do you mean you are physically connecting your iDevice via USB? Because iTM does not "sync" in the traditional sense. So what, precisely, are you trying to do? Set up iTunes Match or sync your iDevice? The two are mutually exclusive.

    A family member has an iTunes account separate from mine however I authorized her computer to use an old iPhone 3G and now when she logs into her iTunes account my billing information shows up, her gift card balance is gone and she doesn't have her wishlist that she had previously.     Does her account show at the top right of the iTunes store home page ? If not then she should be able to log out of your account via Store > Sign Out, and she can then log in with her account via Store > Sign In

  • ITunes/Account Issues - cannot login/download/update

    I've been having issues with iTunes:
    1. I can't download any app. Error message is "Cannot connect to the iTunes Store."
    2. I can't update any app.
    3. I can't view my Apple ID.
    4. I signed out, when I was signing in, it no longer allows me to.
    I have tried:
    1. Resetting my network settings,
    2. Updating my iOS.
    3. Restarting my device.
    4. Turning off the Date/Time settings then turning it on.
    5. Resetting my wi-fi device.
    Result - All these did NOT solve a single issue.
    I've also tried using other online games, social apps, and websites. --- all accessible, which basically proves it's not a network issue.
    Has anyone else been experiencing the same error I did? If so, let's consolidate all complaints or same issues right here in this post and let's all cross our fingers that Apple will address this before the day is over because I badly need this to work for work and play purposes.
    Any help from an Apple MOD would be greatly appreciated.

    Just about everybody if you like to look at the 15+ other posts on the same subject. As has been reported it's a widespread problem, which doesn't appear to be related to any security or other updates. Evidently there is an issue with Apple's servers and it's a question of waiting for them to fix it.

    Additionally, when I connected iPhone #3 to one PC, it removed the contacts from #3 and replaced it with contacts from iPhone #2.  How do I get those contacts back and prevent this from happening again?

    If you resintall iTunes, it should fix the issue. The following document will go over how to remove iTunes fully and then reinstall. Depending on what version of Windows you're running you'll either follow the directions here:

    Same problem. I can see the itunes store so not a problem with windows firewall. The account is active on my iphone so i know i am not locked out. I can connect the PC to my iphone so i know itunes is working ok. It is just logging into itunes on this pc which doesn't work. Only thing I can think of is that the email address I use for my apple id has been offline for a while and is working again now, I'm wondering whether this has been the case for others who are having this issue?

    If you still have the old computer, you should be able to connect the iPad, run iTunes and restore from a backup from a previous sync.  Now that you have it updated, you will not need to do that again.

    I'm just about to purchase my first Mac (about time I know). I've been an iPhone and iPad user for some time and decided it was time to take the final leap and get a mac. So here's my first question..... I have an iPhone 4 and so does my wife. She didn't set up her own iTunes account and instead it just runs off mine, which was fine originally but obviously it now causes issues with reference to contacts etc etc... So I want to look at setting her up on her own iTunes and iCloud account... Problem I have is that she has made 100's of App and song purchase from iTunes and the app store in the past and obviously she doesn't want to loose these. Does anyone out there know of any way I can transfer my wife's items from my iTunes account to her new one? I was thinking of just downloading all her tracks onto cd and then try importing them again on the new iTunes account, would this work?
    Next question.... When I set up my iCloud account I used my MobileMe details (same as my iTunes ID which happens to be a Gmail address) how can I get a @me.com account? And can I replaces my gmail with a new @me.com address?
    I'm really hoping that someone out there can help me out.

    Set the iTunes login and password and the e-mail addresses on the iPad iCloud setup to the same as the owner of the Family Sharing and iCloud account, which in this case is you.

  • Syncing issues with lost of iTunes account.

    We have a house with 1 computer, 2x iPhones 4S, 1x iPad, 2xiPad mini's and 6x iTunes accounts (including 1 account we no longer use). When syncing the iPads an error message comes up saying some files can not be synced because iPads can only hold files from upto 5 iTunes accounts. how do we solve this issue? Can we close down the old account and keep the file from there? Any advice happily accepted.

  • Bizarre OS 3.0 Issue, says my iTunes account doesn't exist

    Okay, I'm a bit frustrated right now. See, I updated to OS 3.0 on my first-generation iPod Touch earlier today, and since then, I haven't been able to purchase a single thing on the Wi-Fi store without plugging the pod into my computer. Some of the things it's spat back at me include:
    (When trying to buy an app, and I've entered the proper password) - Invalid password message, followed up by change password link via iForgot after a few tries.
    (When trying to change my iTunes password through the iForgot service) - "The ID for the iTunes account you provided is invalid"
    Among other things if I log out of iTunes on my Touch, I'm unable to log back in for the same reason of "invalid password", until I plug the device back in, and it works swimmingly until I unplug it again.
    Now to avoid misconceptions, all the computers I own are authorized to play my music and sync with my Touch, and my iTunes account works on all of them too with absolutely no issues, and yes, I've tried Apple's bog-standard "Restart, Reboot, Restore, Reinstall, ect, ect..." method and still nothing has been fixed. I've reinstalled iTunes on all my computers, rebooted them all numerous times, rebooted the Touch countless times, wiped all settings, then all media, then restored, and even tried just setting it up as a new device and STILL nothing.
    I'm at the end of my rope here, I've been trying and trying and trying almost all afternoon just to get it to start working as it should once more, but it just doesn't seem to want to. Any suggestions aside from what I've already tried as well as the usual "buy a new one" or "make a new iTunes account" responses would be greatly appreciated. I just want my mobile workstation back on its feet, with ALL its features...
    And just to repeat myself, iTunes rejects my information ONLY from my iPod, and ONLY when it's not plugged into one of my computers.
