ITunes account to pay for gift apps and Apple Store items

Is there a reason why i cannot use my iTunes account funds to pay for gifted apps and Apple Store items?
it only make sense.

You can use your iTunes Store balance to purchase from the Mac App Store, but not from the Apple Online Store.

    I just received an email receipt from Paypal showing a $12.99 purchase from iTunes. I almost NEVER purchase anything over around five dollars in the app or music store. You can, however, turn off the ability to install apps in the Restrictions settings (Settings/General) which blocks the App Store app on the iPhone.     No. Reason being you purchased the app using your Apple ID. It would not work on his computer.
    If you click the gray arrow to the right of the purchase price of an app, if you see, "Gift This App", then you can send that as a "gift" but only apps with that option.
    If he doesn't have one, he will need to setup an iTunes account >  Apple - My Apple ID

    If you use another iTunes ID you can keep your apps, but you need to do some settings first.

    First, you need to copy all of your purchased content so it is on the same Mac or PC with iTunes. This computer should be the one you sync your device with. For more information on how to move your content, see these articles:

    Next, authorize your computer to play content with each Apple ID in iTunes. Once your computer is authorized for all your content, it can be synced to your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. 
    And about the iCloud, I'm not very sure about that. I think maybe you don't need to turn off all of the iCloud settings, just the items you don't want to sync with your husband. For the apps, you can cancel 'automatically download purchased items' in the settings on iOS devices.

    Whenever a menu choice is grayed out, that is because you have Restrictions turned on in Settings.  Be sure to turn it off.
    You are confusing an itunes store account with an icloud account.  You two can continue using the same ID for itunes (thus sharing purchased music, apps, etc.), but you really should have separate accounts (different IDs) for icloud, since an account is intended for one user to keep his/her devices in sync.
    To create a new icloud account, go to
    http://www.apple.com/icloud/setup/
    Then go to Settings>icloud and scroll to the bottom of the screen and tap Delete Account.  (have restrictions turned off)  That will disconnect the device from the account but will not delete data in icloud or other devices.  Then sign in using the new ID.

    We share the same music library on our desktop but any purchases from iTunes in terms of Apps and Songs are only limited to the device/apple ID that we bought it with.
    So here's my question: if I create a new Apple Id that will be used with her iPad, my iPhone and her iPhone will we:
    - Be able to keep the Apps and songs we bought with the original Apple IDs?
    - If so, will they be deleted once I sync it or will I lose saved games (I play Grand Theft Auto), etc?
    - Will we both lose our contacts on our phones?
    - If I so, can I retrieve the current contacts I have on the cloud and import into the new account?
    In terms of the contacts, should I just work on a project to make sure that all my contacts are on my GMail and let my iPhone use that one as default and do the same for her so I don't have to worry about it?

    I have three different accounts and at some time or another have bought apps with them all. If there is an update the Iphone automatically asks me to login with the appropriate credentials to update. They all live happily on Itunes and I can log in and out on Itunes as well with no ill effects.

    I'm getting tired of people who supposedly know what

    Thanks for the suggestion... but I think my first question would be why these parameters would need re-setting? This is a new machine... It has never been shut down hard. It is used at most 10 hours per week... mostly using Office 2004 for MAC. I need to figure this out as I will soon need it as a Cs2/CS3 - Aperture workhorse.
    I too agree that it is best not to use a sledge when a scalpel is needed... but as a novice to the MAC world I may have been misled by Apple support. I seems to have fixed the symptoms ( some) but appears NOT to have addressed the cause... which is what I am after.
    Would TechTool Pro detect a bad HD or RAM?

    okay i made this account for her just recently. however it will not take the password at all. but for some reason, it only takes the password on rare occasions and tells me that i need to verify the account. i have not gotten any of the emails or password resets. and when i try to answer the security question it says my date of birth doesnt match the records. i just cant get into this account, and i just put money on it to complete making it. so why is it doing this and how can i fix it? also, when i seach for my apple id, it doesnt turn up on the records either...maybe bc its not verified?

    If this was an @Mac.com name the password neds to be less then 17 characters  (It can be up to 16 as ths is an AIM server Limit)
    The Apple Registration page does not tell you this.

    It appears that iCloud (@me.com) names set up since iCloud was "released" cannot be used in Snow Leopard/iChat 5 or earlier.

    Sounds like you need to update your billing information.

    Choose Store > View My Account.

    From the Apple Account Information page, click the Edit Payment Information button.
    Edit the information that you would like to change.Note: The payment methods that the iTunes Store accepts can be found in the payment type section. If you do not want a payment method on your account, select None in the payment type section.
    Click the Done button once you've updated all of your information.
