ITunes Album Art Screensaver with iTunes Match in Lion

A well documented problem so far.
Would just like a DEFINITIVE answer
Running iTunes 10.5.3
Lion 10.7.2
iTunes Match working great with songs still stored locally.
Have re-downloaded all album artwork & displays just fine while in iTunes
When activating Screensaver, get the message 'No iTunes artwork found'
Ok all you mac/iTunes geniuses, what have you figured out so far?

I found that I too had this problem.  I have tried everything that is suggested here and else were.
What I had to do was maybe a combo of everything suggested here and what I did.  Don't know for sure, but I am not going to try to break it again to find out.
After none of these suggestions would get it to work I started digging.
Using Activity Monitor, I could see that when I had the System Preferences open it was taking way to much Physical RAM and CPU, so I selected "System Preferences" from the list of open processes and then clicked the "Inspect" button at the top of the Activity Monitor, under the "Open Files and Ports" tab I could see that the "iTunes Library.itl" file was trying to be accessed.  So then I closed the "Inspect" window and clicked the "Sample Process" button.  I got A LOT of information, and a lot of error messages refering to iTunes that contained the text "(in iTunesAccess) load address" and a bunch of different numbers that I couldn't tell you what they mean.  Searching google for "(in iTunesAccess) load address" didn't give me anything of value, so I figured that since System Preferences kept trying to call the "iTunes Library.itl" file and I was getting a bunch of iTunes errors in sampling the System Preferences process, that the problem might lie in my library.
So to test, I copied about 50 or so songs with album art to the iTunes library of a new user I had just created on my computer.  Then I tried to turn on the artwork screen saver, and it worked right out of the gate.  So that told me it wasn't a global problem with the computer, just within my profile. Since I have had the same library for about 10 years though hardware, OS, and iTunes upgrades, I thought, maybe if there was some way I could rebuild my Library file it might be happier, and since I don't want to loose all my play lists and what ever historical data is kept in the library file, rebuilding seemed like the best option.
So here is what I found on how to rebuild the Library file, it is pretty easy, but scary to.  I have a Time Machine back up of my computer so I felt better knowing that I could just revert back.  Before you try this I would make back up copies of "iTunes Library.itl" and "iTunes Music Library.xml" if you aren't backing up your computer already.

Then if you have problems with your PodCasts after.

After all that everything worked like it was suppose to.  Happy day and all the peasants rejoiced.
I really wish Apple would address the issue though, I know it's a small detail, but that attention to small details is sometimes what makes Apple so effing cool.  Seems like they are starting to let more fall through the cracks.

  • ITunes album art screensaver no longer works

My screensaver suddenly no longer displays the iTunes album artwork library.
Instead it's a black screen saying "Your iTunes Library does not contain any songs with artwork.
What happened here? Album artwork shows up fine in iTunes and the screensaver used to work just fine...

Update: I downgraded back to iTunes 8 - and the album artwork screensaver is finally back!
I also missed the photo album sorting feature with non-iPhoto photo syncing,
so for now the iTunes downgrade works for me ...
Hoping Apple will fix some of these issues with one of the next updates!

  • Album Art Screensaver does not work after iTunes 9 upgrade

After I upgraded to iTunes 9 my album art screensaver no longer works. I get the message saying "Your iTunes library does not contain any songs with artwork". I have tried deleting the plist files per another support topic, but this doesn't fix the problem. Ideas?

This is the Tiger forum - you are running Snow Leopard!
But I would suggest you post your question in the iTunes forum:

  • ITunes Album Art in Screen Saver Mode

    Hello,
Most of my 3,000 songs in iTunes have album art associated with them. However, when I set my screensaver to cycle through them, only 1 cycles. Does anyone know how I can get all of them to cycle ?

Not a definite, but perhaps you have a defective preference file. Try Preferential Treatment see if it reports any errors.

  • I can no longer add album art work in iTunes version 10.6.0.40

WHY can I no longer add album art work in iTunes version 10.6.0.40? It is maddening. I have checked many boards and discussion groups but no one has a sure fix. Why is Apple not tending to this problem? They of all groups should know the importance of how something looks.

I had the the same problem albeit with an m4v (same hardware and OS rev too!, iTunes 10.6.3). I was able to add the movie to a new library per Limnos' suggestion here, indicating that iTunes wasn't totally busted. However, I was also able to see the movie in the Recently Added smart playlist (another hat tip to Limnos), although it still did not appear in the Movies section of my iTunes library. (It was also in the iTunes Library.xml file.)
So I called AppleCare, and they directed me to move the file from the external drive where it was living, into the /Users/<Your Name Here>/Movies directory, and to "Add to Library" (Command-O) from that location. Sure enough (and much to my surprise), it showed up immediately (duplicated, actually) in the Movies section of my iTunes library. Subsequent additions to my Library have not misbehaved similiarly.

  • ITunes album art screen saver problem

Hi, recently when I use my iTunes album art work as a screen saver the albums have a purple tint to them. It hasn't always been like that so if anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated.

Just thought I'd let you know that you're not alone. I've tried everything i could think of to fix this problem. The only thing that worked was re-installing the os
and not messing with the settings. But that's not really an option. I only found that out because i got a little delete happy while screwing with my mac.

    Hello howwow,
In iTunes, select the song. Get info (command+I), click on the Artwork Tab at the top. You can drag the image from there to the desktop. Double click it to open it in the Finder, copy the image- just press command+c.
Open Preview, type command+n, this will create a New From Clipboard image of your artwork. Save it as a Jpeg or Pict. Repeat with each song you want and create the folder for your screen saver.

  • Refresh iTunes album art fails in DM6

    Hi,
I'm trying to import iTunes album art into Desktop Manager 6 and about halfway through, the process fails. I've checked the log files and found this info that might be relevant:

The log points to a possibly corrupted album art image, but it would be desirable if the Desktop manager could simply ignore that exception and resume the import. Has anybody else encountered this problem?

After having no itunes media sync issues with my 238 albums, other than album art for "Greatest Hits" albums getting mixed up, i have found that DM 6 gets the album art correct, but will not sync approximately 238 of 1500 files.  Who knows how to fix this one.  I am through with RIM, Blackberry and DM.  I don't understand why they can't get this stuff right.

  • My findings -- Album art shown in iTunes 7 but not in iPod

Well, after several round of testings, here's my conclusion:
For song in iTunes library, i can change the album art and upload the song to iPod. The album art shows in iPod and stays...however if i decided to change the album art later for the same song by directly dragging the album art to song info box in iPod, the updated album art displays in iTunes BUT not in iPod, in fact NO ALBUM ART is displayed at all...even though how many times i check/uncheck the DISPLAY ALBUM ART box.
The only way to change the album art again is to drag the new album art to the song in my iTunes library and later drag that song again to iPod.
As a summary, it DOES NOT allow me to add or change any album art directy to songs stored in iPod. The only workaround is have the exact copies of songs stored in iTunes library and do auto sync.
For me this is totally not flexible as in order to save hard drive space, i believe most of us will store songs in Ipod and remove them from iTunes library (correct me if i am wrong). And all we can do is wait til the next release of firmware from Apple.........
Hello Apple, r u listening out there!?!?!
    BTW, i am using iTunes 7 and iPod 5G 60GB 1.2 firmware.

phewww. Been going crazy, thinking i waas the only one with this problem. It was never a problem with 6.5.
and yes, we all dont save tracks in the media library. i have never even used it
    So fix ASAP.

  • Missing/inconsistent/wrong album art after installing iTunes 10

Ever since I installed iTunes 10, weird things are happening with the album art in my iTunes libraries and across my iPods and iPhone.
Before the update, most of my library had album art -- in fact, I had gone to the trouble of pasting it into the individual songs so that it would be "embedded" in the file.
It's still there in the library, but not on my phone or iPods, random tracks are missing artwork, or display artwork from a different track.
Makes no sense, or at least I haven't been able to figure out what the commonality is with the affected tracks. Anyone else seen this?

If all your music is in iTunes, you could try restoring your iPod, this will erase the hard drive, reload the software and put it back to default settings: Restoring iPod to Factory Settings
Alternatively if your iPod is set to update automatically then try this:
    1. Connect your iPod
    2. Disable "Show Album art" in iTunes>Edit>Preferences>iPod.
    3. Syncronise the iPod with iTunes. (Disconnecting and then reconnecting your iPod will do the trick)
    4. Re-enable "Show Album Art" in iTunes>Edit>Preferences>iPod.
    5. Syncronise the iPod again.

  • Album Art Visible in iTunes 8.0.1, but some not visible on 120G iPod

120G iPod Classic (s/w 2.0 ) syncing with iTunes 8.0.1.11. All my artwork is visible in iTunes, but after syncing many songs are missing artwork on iPod.
    Tried the following:
    1) Restore iPod with newest software
    2) Turn off artwork, sync, turn on show artwork, sync.
    3) "Get Info" on first track of album with missing artwork, shows artwork in "Info" tab, and "Artwork" tab.
    4) "Get Info" on track with missing artwork, shows artwork in "Info" tab, and "Artwork" tab
    Any other suggestions?

    Solution
    1) remove the Cache, Download, and Local directories in c:/My Documents/My Music/iTunes/Album Artwork/ then restart iTunes.
2)Next allow iTunes to load all the artwork from the songs in your library.
3)Fix any with missing artwork if you so desire
4)Turn off artwork in music tab, sync, turn on artwork, sync (optimizes album artwork for all songs)

  • Album art screensaver question

I love this album art screensaver. I have a lot of album covers on itunes becuase of hte new downlaoding feature. But...even though i have the album in itunes, only a few show up when i run the screensaver. this is sort of annoying....and i dont understand why it is happening.

Yes, I have this issue as well. The art downloaded in iTunes does not register with the Album Art Screen Saver. The only art that is registered is that which was obtained through third party widgets. I can only assume that the missing art is not being stored in the proper folder. I hope someone has a fix for this.
Thanks for reminding me about this issue, I meant to post it some time ago.

  • Can't exit Album Art Screensaver

How do I exit from Album Art screensaver?  The exit button on the bottom right corner will not allow it when I click the button.

I was also having trouble understanding why the Exit button that appears when you mouse over the lower-right corner of the iTunes Artwork screensaver wasn't working.  Whenever I clicked it, it appeared to do nothing.  However, it happened to be opening my password entry window in the middle of the screen, which I overlooked, as it kind-of blended in with the artwork.  Now that I know what to look for, I understand how the Exit button works.

  • Album Art Screensaver Red?

I just did an erase and install to install leopard on my system. Everything has been great so far. My only issue is that the album art screensaver comes up with a red hue over the albums and the quality of them all is very poor. All the albums look fine in itunes. What should I do?

I've been scouring the internet forever, and I can't figure out exactly what the issue is here...
I have OSX 10.4.9 and I discovered that I could make my iTunes artwork my screensaver. I was tooling aroudn with the two slide-bar settings, and all of a sudden, the window started closing out as though the program wasn't responding. It prompts me to re-open the window, and once I click on the iTunes screensaver option, it closes out again. This is only the case for the iTunes screensaver.
    Any help would be appreciated!
