Itunes album rating missing
I recently got iTunes match and since getting it, all my album ratings have disappeared? Is there anyway to fix this without manually having to re-enter every single rating?
Yep, here too. Each time I unsubscribe my second machine and resubscribe to iTunes Match, my machine syncs with the cloud. And each time I get a different result: Albums missing, ratings missing or different to the master iTunes library. With my last sync I only get to see albums with 4 stars. Interestingly I have albums in there that have 3 or 5 stars on my other machine. A DISASTER!

I just completed the software update for iTunes 7.6.2 (9) and now all my album covers show an icon with a broken chain. When I click on album cover view iTunes crashes.
Any suggestions or fixes? ThanksHi,
I 've been having the same issue.
One thing I noticed was that it seemed to be like the missing albums were the ones purchased with a different Apple ID (mine but from a different country)... Then I realized that (as you said) it was rather arbitrary since the recently bought ones are either missing or just fine.
But most purchased with a diff ID are missing album covers.
I myself have 4 country IDs since I lived shortly in diff places.
I wish Apple was less constraining regarding this, but I guess it's got to be due to the music houses' rules and conditions... -
Just bought a nano and want to download some of my iTunes library. The "Music" button shows almost all my selections but some albums are missing, yet ONLY those albums appear on the nano icon on my desktop after being dragged there but none of the others. What's happening?
I've read some of the post here that I thought might help but they refer to titles (Music) and triangles in the "Devices" window which are nowhere to be seen when I open the "Devices" window.
I have iTunes 11.0.3 and Mac OS 10.6.8. Does this make a difference?I should mention that, for the first problem, I do make sure that my new tracks are stored in the folder where I told iTunes that my music is in. Also, when I say the cataloging of my library stops short of cataloging all my songs, I have tried leaving the computer unattended for days (my computer's sleep mode is disabled). It always stops before cataloging all of my music regardless of whether I am doing something else while iTunes is cataloging, or if I just let iTunes be the only program that's open during the cataloging process.

I recently transferred my ITunes library to an external hard drive. I made sure to copy all the data from the saved location. After the transfer I noticed that a lot of albums are missing the first song and some recently purchased albums are missing. Is there any way to recover the data? Thanks for any help.
I may have found an answer here:
http://www.ilounge.com/index.php/articles/comments/moving-your-itunes-library-to -a-new-hard-drive
They only thing I can assume is that my external hard drive was slow to start and iTunes defaulted to its old directory (see the last paragraph at the link above). However, once my external was recognized shouldn't everything have fixed itself?

On version 10.5 and was trying to move my itunes music to a larger drive. I had issues and moved it all back to the original drive. Now I see all the music in itunes but when I "explore" the drive many subfolders for my individual albums are missing. Help
really??
Yes, really, I'm sorry to say.
is there anything i can do about it??maybe create another account?
Sorry, but there is nothing you can do about it. There's no place where you could create "another account" that would give you any greater access to media. The content owners do not allow cross-border sales, so you cannot open an account in another country's iTunes Store. So until such time as Apple is able to obtain the necessary licensing and decides that it's practical to open an iTunes Store on your country, I'm afraid that you will not be able to purchase music, videos, or movies from an iTunes Store.
There is only one possibility for you: if what you're looking for are only podcasts, you may be able to find the podcast you want directly from a web site. Apple doesn't host the podcasts, they only link to them, so the podcast you want may be available from another source. You'll have to do a web search and see if the podcast turns up.

Why is iTunes automatically rating my albums?!
I have a whole system built on song ratings. For some strange reason iTunes randomly applies a rating (solid star, not outlined star) to various albums, which then applies a rating (outlined start, not solid star) to all the unrated songs in that album. This really screws up my system! I don't mind that iTunes calculates an album rating based on actual song ratings, but I HATE that it will apply an album rating that effectively rates all my unrated songs for me.
If it matters, I listen to my music almost exclusively on my iPhone. Is there a way to rate albums on mobile devices that I'm not aware of?
Has anyone else experienced this? Any idea what might be causing it?

Error in script to set album rating in iTunes
Hi
I used to use the following script to set album ratings of albums in my iTunes library. It used to work fine, but now it's not working. When I try to debug it I am getting the following error:
"Scripting component error."
on this line in the third block:
repeat with R in (rating of tracks whose album is thisAlbum)
I wonder if anyone can spot what the problem might be?
Thanks,
Nick

Album Pictures Missing Every Time I Open iTunes!!!!
Since I updated to iTunes 8, in a Laptop with Windows Vista, I have the HUGE problem that every time I open the program, some of my songs are with the album picture missing. I have reinstalled iTunes twice, and restored my songs from my backup, but's still happening and I don't know what to do, except thowing the PC to the wall... It is also happening to my iPod songs as well...
It happens the same to pictures of songs downloaded from the internet or uploaded from CD's. I haven't purchased any songs at iTunes. I have Kaspersky Antivirus and it says everything's ok.
Need help and it's URGENT, before I kill my PC...My songs are also on an external hard drive. I upgraded iTunes on my computer at work where the program and songs are on the same drive, and that one seems to be working just fine. I think when I get home I'll try installing the iTunes program on the external drive where my songs are and see if that works.

Album artwork missing on iPod, but not in iTunes
I went tto sync up my iPod Touch because a new song by Gorillaz was free to download (it's Do Ya Thing, great song by the way), but afterwards most of my album artwork was missing. Even stranger, only certain albums have it. All of the artwork is on iTunes. I use windows 7 Ultimate. Is there a bug with iTunes, or did I do something wrong?
I get this on my iPod Touch 5th gen all the time. I think it just has to do with the files getting corrupted. Try removing the songs/albums with missing artwork from the iPad and then sync them back to the device from the cloud

ITunes album art screensaver no longer works
My screensaver suddenly no longer displays the iTunes album artwork library.
Instead it's a black screen saying "Your iTunes Library does not contain any songs with artwork.
What happened here? Album artwork shows up fine in iTunes and the screensaver used to work just fine...Update: I downgraded back to iTunes 8 - and the album artwork screensaver is finally back!
I also missed the photo album sorting feature with non-iPhoto photo syncing,
so for now the iTunes downgrade works for me ...
Hoping Apple will fix some of these issues with one of the next updates! -
Can't remove album rating from an album
For some reason I can't remove the album rating from one of my albums in iTunes 7.6. I can change the rating, but if I swipe the cursor all the way to the left (which removes all stars on other albums) I get weird, hollow stars that then revert to a four-star rating when I play a file.
That was it. One song had a rating (probably dues to a random mouse error lol - I usually don't rate songs).
Thanks. -
Sorry for being a bit vague describing the problems but they are too complicated to summarize in 1 sentence.
I bought a number of albums from iTunes last December, including LeAnn Rimes "I Need You". I have a car that allows me to play iTunes music copied onto its HD from a USB drive. I copied the iTunes music from my MacBook Pro onto the USB drive and then transferred the music to the HD in my car.
I subsequently discovered that some of the music was skipping when played in my car and the dealer thought the HD in the stereo only supports MP3. It was strange because track 4 in "I Need You" sounded very odd, like it was not the original track from the album but a re-mixed version. I thought it was corrupted due to the MP4 format not being supported. At any rate I decided to convert the iTunes tracks to MP3 on my MacBook Pro using iTunes 11.0.4
I selected all the iTunes albums and instructed iTunes to make MP3 copies.
When iTunes got to the 4th track in "I Need You", it reported an error trying to copy the track and stopped. When I tried to manually copy the track, iTunes said my computer was not authorized to play the track and asked me to log in. When I logged in, iTunes said the computer was already authorized and that I had 1 computer authorized and could authorize 5. When I tried to play the track, I got the same iTunes error about not being authorized again.
When I did a "Get info" on the track I noticed it was purchased on the same occasion as all the other tracks in that album but unlike the other tracks it was missing the name of the person who bought it - me.
I deleted the track and enabled iCloud to download another copy. That worked but the track that was downloaded sounds very strange, not like the original track of the album but like a re-mixed version. like the one that played in my car. Track #4 "You Are" from the "I Need You" LeAnn Rimes album is from 2001, an old album. But the re-downloaded version sounds like a recent re-mix. I know this because I have 2 iPads which also contain copies of this iTunes album.
The newer iPad Mini syncs with my Mac frequently and has weird problems with this same album (phantom duplicate tracks that don't play anything) and when I try to play track 4 it plays track 5 instead. On the other hand my iPad 2 is still running iOS 5 and it plays the original track #4 correctly and has no strange issues with anything. The iPad 2 does not get synced very often because it stays at home whereas the iPad Mini travels with me.
I suspect my iTunes library got corrupted by iCloud. The version of track 4 for "I Need You" is not the track I bought. There was a recent occasion when I noticed iCloud was enabled on my MacBook Pro out of the blue without my permission and all my music were showing duplicates. I turned off iCloud and thought it was some sort of fluke occurrence. But now, I think it may have a connection to my problem today. iCloud may have downloaded a new version of the track to my iTunes library on my MacBook.
What is going on with this iTunes album??? How can I restore my libraries with the correct album tracks? Can someone in iTunes please contact me - I can play both copies of the track and you can judge for yourself. This is really bizarre.
Thanks.j. michael wrote:
I agree the track was somehow corrupted but it was likely not during the original download as it played just fine for over 4 months. Another USB drive copy of the same track also plays fine on my other vehicle's stereo. My concern is primarily regarding how it got "munged" on my MacBook. Maybe it's getting old. I notice my battery is on its last legs.
Fair enough, although the age of the file really has nothing to do with it. Digital files do not degrage over time like, say, a printed piece of paper.
I suppose what could have happened is the track could have become damaged by copying it around on storage media that might have damaged blocks. But that is just speculation on my part. I don't know how accurate it might be. At any rate a simple re-download from your purchase history, or restoration from your backups should solve the problem. -
HT1473 CD songs randomly spread over a number of iTunes albums
Hi
When adding songs to iTunes from CDs the content of a single CD is spread across multiple albums in iTunes, seemingly in a random order. As a consequence it seems impossible to play the album either sequentially or in its entirety by opening the first of the iTune albums. I suspect I may be missing the obvious in terms of settings but hope that someone will take pity on me and point me the right direction.
Many thanks

After an update of iTunes and the iPod, not all the music in the library syncs to the iPod. Entire "albums" are missing. Any suggestions?
Yes I've done a reset but it made no difference.

All my album covers show up in Itunes but when I do a backup/sync on my iphone I lose quite a few album covers...I can get them back by restoring to factory settings but the next time I do a back up it takes away the album covers again....any advice on how to get this to stop happening?
I also have album covers missing. I imported all my MP3 songs into itunes as well as downloading new songs from the iTunes shop. I have multiple albums from the same artist, eg The Deltones and some albums have missing artwork, eg Walk like a Man = OK, Tickled Pink = no artwork. Both were purchased as a CD. 3 Neil Diamond albums = no artwork.
Those albums with art work display OK.
