Itunes all of a sudden gone

I pulled up itunes today and everything was gone, blank, and like I have never used it before. I haven't done anything to it. I was on yesterday, downloading some songs and everything worked great. I didn't delete anything or do anything out the ordinary. What the heck happened? Please help!

Try holding down the Shift key in Windows when launching iTunes. In the resulting dialogue you will get the option to create a new library or navigate to an existing one. The default location for your iTunes library is in \Documents and Settings\Username\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\. Look in there and see if you have more than one library file (they have the extension .itl) If you have more than one try opening them in turn, you may find your original library is still intact: How to open an alternate iTunes Library file

  • I can't open iTunes all of a sudden... no problem before!

I tried to open iTunes the other day and the message "iTunes requires Mac OSX 10.4.7 or later". My OS is 10.4.6 but I never had a problem before- why now all of a sudden it wont let me in? What can I do to resolve this? Within the past few weeks I got an iPod nano and hooked it in- could this have anything to do with it?

thanks for the link ... i did do this (more than once) but ...?!? so i am currently doing the update again .... i will see what happens .... i noticed though that the downloading is occurring (like before)and it shows the bar on the bottom of the box the # of MB (...right now "241 MB out of 304 MB--about 8 minutes to go").
... but i did notice that the previous time there was no indication of it being finished with another box saying..."update complete".... so we will see in a few minutes...
...by the way, i appreciate your help....

  • Unable to sync my iPhone with iTunes all of a sudden...

I'm presently unable to sync my iPhone with iTunes for some odd reason. It says "Syncing is disabled on this computer." I checked the iTunes settings and it said under "Syncing" in the preferences that it was in fact enabled so I don't see why all of a sudden I'm having these problems. Any suggestions?

I first reset the sync services in the (Applicantions - Utilities) Terminal: killall SyncServer syncuid SystemUIServer
Then I went to *User/Library/Application Support and dragged the SyncServices folder to the Trash.
Then I logged out from the Apple Menu.
    Then I logged back in.
Now all of the syncing services are working correctly.

  • Itunes all of a sudden can't find original file

A few months ago, I moved my itunes library to an external hard drive. It has all been working fine for the most part.  Every once in a while, it will say that an original file could not be found, but then it works later.
Today, my husband was trying to put songs on his new ipod, and over half the songs he tried to listen to wouldn't play.  It kept saying the original file could not be located.
Can someone help me understand why all of a sudden all these songs would just quit working?

I have beem having the same problem. I even created another user on my PC but developed the same situation! ARGH!

  • Itunes all of a sudden not recognizing iPod.

I have a iPod Video, I've not had any problems at all syncing and using my Ipod and Itunes. All of a sudden, Itunes won't find the Ipod. When I go to My computer, it shows the iPod connected, so the computer is finding it, but Itunes isn't.
I uninstalled my version of Itunes, and redownloaded Itunes, I am using version 6.0.4.2 I have the latest ipod software download, which according to apple.com is from March of 2006.
Any ideas what is going on, and how I can get Itunes to recognize the Ipod again?

    Have you seen these?
iPod appears in Windows Explorer but does not appear in iTunes.
iPod does not appear in iTunes.
Fast user switching in Windows XP is not supported.
    Strange iPod behavior.

  • ITunes all of a sudden won't sync non-purchased songs

Title says it all, other day updated to 7.0.3.  Sync wouldn't update the 3 new cd's I had added and furthermore, those artists that the cd's belonged to wouldn't play.  Meaning any previous song by those artists on my phone also wouldn't play.
7.0.4 fixed nothing infact it just straight up removed all my non-purchased songs off my phone.  iTunes claims there's 1,000 songs on my iPhone but only the 200ish I've purchased show up.  If I go to "on this phone" it shows nearly every song with a grey circle next to it.
    This is ridiculous.

Forgot to add also, all the purchased songs on my phone have the cloud/download button so technically they aren't even there either.  Would have to go through and download all of those as well.
iTunes keeps just randomly changing how much space is available.  It goes from what it should be (2.5ish GB) down to 8 GB free, all of a sudden will jump to only 500 MB free.  Dunno if that is screwing with the Sync, phone things it has no room to add the songs.

  • All my music suddenly GONE!

Please help! I installed the iTunes update Wednesday night and Thursday night, everything was going fine. Then on Friday, I opened up iTunes and ALL of my music and my playlists were gone! I know I didn't do anything out of the blue to accidentally delete it all. And now, when I plug my iPod in, iTunes says that it is synced with another library. All the files still exist on my computer and I am properly logged in to the iTunes store and my computer is authorized.
Has this happened to anyone else? Does anyone know what's going on? Is there a way I can transfer EVERYTHING from my iPod to iTunes (I am desperate to keep my playlists)? I would greatly appreciate any help.

    See if this link helps.

  • Ipod(s) are not syncing with itunes all of a sudden

WARNING, this is going to be very long-winded.  So I've exhausted every avenue I can think of myself, so I figured I'd try just asking on the forum here and hopefully someone can suggest a solution.  First, the specs of the equipment/software involved:
Windows 7 64 bit O.S. on my pc
    Itunes 10.3.1.55
    Ipod touch 4thGen 64GB
    Ipod Nano 4thGen 8GB
So a couple days ago, I tried syncing my ipod touch to my pc, and it wasn't recognized by itunes, it wasn't even recognized by Windows as an ipod.  It doesn't even charge the ipod or light up the screen.  All that happens when I plug it into the sync cable is that after about 10-15 seconds I get a windows error saying "USB device not recognized"  Under windows device manager, in the USB devices section, when the ipod(s) are connected it shows an unknown device connected to the port, but when I right click and look at the details for the unknown device, it gives no indication whatsoever that it is an apple device, doesn't say anything about AppleMobileDevice, or anything like that, just everything about it is unknown as far as windows is concerned.  The catch is, my ipod Nano is getting the exact same result, so if it's a hardware issure with the ipod itself, it struck both my ipods at the exact same time.  So I went to work investigating and troubleshooting.  After reading through the troubleshooting guides on apples website, some exhaustive google searches, consulting with a few people I know who work in I.T. troubleshooting, and reading through this forum for several hours looking for related issues, here is what I've tried:
    1. My pc has 6 usb ports, I've tried using both cables (I have the syncing cables that came with each Ipod) with each Ipod in each USB port.
    2. I've tried resetting both Ipods
    3. I've uninstalled all apple software from my pc, rebooted, reinstalled.
    4. I repeated step 3 but tried installing an older version of itunes (one that I know worked).
    5.  I tried every step I could find suggested by Itunes on the apple support website:  Tried manually uninstalling/reinstalling the driver to the usb device, tried uninstalling the device driver while it was connected and rebooted (leaving it connected) hoping that windows would automatically install the right driver at startup.
    6.  Suspecting it may have been virus related, I've run exhaustive searches for malware/viruses with several different antivirus/antimalware/antirootkit programs using them in and out of windows safemode.
    7.  I did a windows system restore to a restore point back over a week ago, well before I started having issues.
    8.  I emailed apple support and explained the problem in detail, the sent me a link to the "applecare express service".  That was extremely helpful...
    9.  I took my ipod touch, and both my syncing cables over to a friends house and did the following:  Tried syncing it with his pc, he has the same exact version of windows and itunes as me, and it worked fine.  It synced immediately and recognized the device without any problem whatsoever.  While I had it synced to his pc, I master reset it back to factory settings, took it home and tried syncing it to my pc again to no avail.
    10.  I tried very politey asking it to please sync with my pc.
    11.  I plugged it into my stereo which has a built in ipod dock, and it works fine with that device, charges, plays music off the ipod.
I'm willing to consider buying one of the "pay-per-incident" help feature service things from Apple Express lane, if I thought it would help at all.
So, to anyone who was patient enough to read through all of that, any suggestions as to what the problem might be?  I'm still assuming at this point that it has to be something software related, I just have no idea what, and can't think of a single thing that changed on my pc from when I synced it on tuesday morning, to when I tried to sync it on wednesday morning and this all started.

    FIXED!
Follow up for anyone who reads this post and has encountered the same/roughly the same type of error.  To recap basically what happened was one day Itunes on my pc with win7 64bit was working fine and syncing up with both my ipods (ipod touch and ipod nano) and the next day it wasn't working at all.  What happened was when I tried to sync either device with my pc, not only did the proper drivers not install/function, but they wouldn't even charge.  Well I spent some long hours trying to figure what was going on, wound up going so far as to format my hard drive (i had my data backed up first!) and do a clean install of windows 7, and even that still didn't fix it.  In my frustration I decided to try to plug in some other USB devices I had lying around but hadn't used in awhile, (microsoft HD webcam, and a flash memory storage drive) and discovered I got the same exact error/symptoms with those devices, i.e. drivers failed to install in Win7.  So now I realized that whatever was going on was beyond just itunes/ipods, and something was wrong on a systematic level.  Basically, certain USB devices were functioning perfectly fine (mouse, keyboard, x360 controller) while others (ipods, webcam, flash drive) weren't functioning at all.
So what was the solution?  Someone suggested trying adding a stand alone USB add on card.  For those that don't know, it's a card you can plug into an available slot in your motherboard and it adds USB ports to a pc that otherwise doesn't have any, or adds extra ports to your current setup.  I picked up a card at best buy for $20 that plugged into an available PCI slot, gave me two new available USB ports. (set-up is VERY easy for these cards, there is no set-up really, you just plug the card in and turn the pc back on)
VOILA!, after installing the new USB card, I opened Itunes, plugged in my ipod touch, and it synced up right away, I was so relieved.  I still have no idea what caused the USB device/driver issues, or why adding the extra card worked, but it was a cheap and easy solution, and hopefully if anyone else encounters a similar "unsolveable" problem, this might help them.

  • 5002 error in itunes all of a sudden

So my main itunes install is now acting up. I'm getting the 5002 error. It used to work fine. I purchased some songs on my iphone today and sync'd them to my mac mini itunes install where all my music is. I tried to go into my account and it asks for my password, then it says the 5002 error try later. I've tried deauthorizing the mini (doesn't let me, 5002), tried authorizing the mini (it is already authed but it doesn't let me do that either 5002). The shopping cart is not enabled (never has been).
I was able to sync to my phone and get the songs copied over but I can't access buy anything from the mini nor can I pull up my account information.

I can preview songs audibly, but when I try to buy, I also get the error, same thing when I tried to access my account. Some people have been able to access their account, and they said that they refreshed their State info and this negated their 5002 Error, but I cannot get there.

  • Descriptions in Podcast library all of a sudden gone

I've been uploading podcasts for the past few months. The Revolving Door. (http://revolvingdoorpodcast.wordpress.com/). When I uploaded my latest podcast, all of the descriptions went away. If I go to my podcast page in the iTunes store, the descriptions are all there. However, the description does not show up in the Podcast Library. I'm not talk about the most recent descriptions aren't showing up. None of the descriptions are showing up. This has never happened before. I have tried unsubscribing and subscribing again. I've also checked the RSS feed the podcast comes from, but the problem doesn't appear to be there. Please help.

Something odd is going on: it looks like Feedburner strikes again - other people have had problems with it. The iTunes Store page found by searching or using the link has the first episode at the bottom and shows the summaries. The feed is said to be at http://feeds.feedburner.com/RevolvingDoorsPodcast - submitting this to FeedValidator shows the summaries but has the first episode at the top: it also highlights a few oddities:
    http://www.feedvalidator.org/check.cgi?url=feed%3A%2F%2Ffeeds.feedburner.com%2FR evolvingDoorsPodcast
The Feedburner page at http://feeds.feedburner.com/RevolvingDoorsPodcast shows the first episode at the top: the 'View xml' link from there:
    feed://feeds.feedburner.com/RevolvingDoorsPodcast?format=xml
shows the first episode at the bottom.
Subscribing in iTunes, either from the Store page or using the 'Advanced' menu, has the first episode at the bottom and as you say no summaries.
So what is going on between Wordpress and Feedburner I don't know: it looks as if there are two versions of the feed floating about, one in reverse order: Feedburner may be serving up different versions dependent on what is calling it. If they have a help line you might get an answer there.
