ITunes also playing videos/movies?

Hi, I have stupid question, can I play in iTunes videos or movies? Thanks for reply.

This problem cropped up for me yesterday. I had just copied a new video to my iTunes library and was testing that it worked properly, but while the sound was playing, the screen was black.
Pausing/pressing the Play button resolves the issue, until I select a new video/movie to play, when I have to do it again.
I'm running MacOS X 10.6.6 and iTunes 10.1.1 (4). I tried reinstalling iTunes, with no luck. I also tried the old mainstay of replacing the Preferences file, but that also didn't help.
There is ONE new wrinkle to this situation. Yesterday, I had installed a new app named AirView to stream videos over AirPlay to my iPad. This works fine, but after this, the issue cropped up, suggesting an AirPlay issue.
I have two iMacs, so decided to try this situation on the Kitchen iMac and played a video on this other iMac just fine, video and sound. I then started up AirView on the iPad and initiated the video stream to the iPad from the Kitchen iMac. The movie played fine on the iPad. I quit AirView and went back to try the video on the Kitchen iMac, and yes, the video now failed to display until I reselected Computer from the AirPlay menu at the bottom of the screen, or used the pause/play solution, even though Computer was still selected as the default in the AirPlay menu. Doing this once seemed to be enough to resolve the issue for playing all videos on the Kitchen iMac, but not on the Office iMac.
The only other difference between iTunes on these two iMacs is that one (the Office iMac) is running its videos from a FireWire 800 attached 2TB hard drive, while the Kitchen iMac's contents are on the internal hard drive.
Deselecting the AirPlay option in Preferences/Devices to start videos correctly on the Office iMac is not a solution, since this iMac serves as our home server for our Apple TV.
Since I have a practical option, however, and since this issue doesn't affect playing videos remotely using AirPlay, this is now a buggy annoyance, but no longer a problem for me.

  • ITunes 7.4.2.4 is freezing any time it tries to play video (Movie, TV)

I bought an iPod Touch yesterday. I then purchases a movie, some TV shows, and a couple of videos. If I navigate to to Movie everything is fine until I try to play it or view info and then iTunes locks up and needs to be force quit. It freezes immediately if I navigate to TV Shows. It freezes if I try to play a video in the music library or try to get info on it.
Music all plays fine. iPod syncs fine, but will freeze before completely transferring any video. It got to the last few seconds of transferring Prison Break, but then froze up. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling. Rebooting many times. Note that all of the video it is having problems with was just purchased last night from iTunes. I haven't tried anything that I've ripped myself with no DRM.
    Any help is appreciated.

I am also having problems playing videos. The music will play and the video freezes. My videos have played before but after I downloaded the last one now none play. Apple says give it two weeks (2 wks so that they could explore the problem) and try to purchase again with a credit that they gave me. They were not much help. If I find a solution I will definitley post it! I don't know if upgrading to iTunes 7.5 make the difference or not.

  • Grey screen in iTunes when playing downloaded movie

Since the update from 10.7.5 Server ed. to 10.9 Mavericks on my Mini-mac I have problems with the playback of downloaded iTunes movies. The only thing I see is a grey screen. This not only is the case for playback with iTunes, but also for playback of DVD's.
When I want to play the movie on my AppleTV (from the iTunes library on the same mini-mac) it's no problem. On my iMac: same. No problem.
So it must be something on the mini that handles the playback of copy-protected material. I think I need to remove something and get it installed anew, probably something Quicktime related.
Is there anyone that can help me out?

Oh, Apple, sometimes you drive me mad.
I filed a bug report.  Seriously????

  • Why does my iTunes not play Videos with AC3 passthrough?

    Hello everyone,
I have a problem with my iTunes on my Mac (recent iTunes, recent OS X). As the title says, I can't play videos, that contain AC3 Audio. If I try to play a video with AC3 in iTunes, it just doesn't start playing. When I jump to a later chapter, it just shows one still frame but it doesn't start playing. QuickTime plays every video without any problem. I tried it with (self-encoded) Full HD (1080p) and also SD videos.
QuickTime doesn't have any problem and also my 3rd Gen Apple TV streams the Video without any problem from iTunes... moveis I bought from the iTunes store also work without any problem in iTunes, as they all contain an AAC-Audio track. I didn't recognize that issue before I updated to Mountain Lion... or maybe to the latest version of iTunes.
Does anybody know what possibly is the reason for that and how to solve it? Thank you!

OK, I found another thread here, where my problem has already been solved. It works fine now. For everyone who got stuck on the same problem and finds my thread first, here's the solution, that helped me:
    - download A52Codec.component
    - move it to /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components/ and replace the existing file
    Best regards,
    Michael

  • Itunes freezes playing back movie

This is the first time I have used itunes
I purchased the kids movie Ratatouille this morning. It downloaded just fine. When I tried to play it this evening, after 22 seonds, itunes just completely freezes up. I also tried to play it using quicktime and got the same results.
I have Vista, if it matters.
Anyone know how to fix this kind of thing??
Does itunes not work with Vista??
    Thanks!

I am running Vista 32 and have the latest iTunes and Quicktime apps on a new Gateway desktop with dual core and lots of RAM. iTunes is fine until I click on the movies section and my whole system freezes. I have to hard reboot in order to recover.
I tried playing a movie in Quicktime by locating it in the iTunes folder and playing it -- system crashes again. Very frustrating. I tried multiple movies with the same results. I believe this is a compatibility issue with Quicktime and Vista.
I have searched endlessly on newsgroups and google searches for a fix. I see many folks posting similar issues, but no one has received an answer from Apple. Apple needs to address this quickly before they start losing more market share. Why purchase a movie if we can't play it??
I hope we get a fix soon!

  • When iTunes finishes playing home movies it closes down before it went back to your home movie library

when i play home movies in itunes when the video is finished itunes closes , before it just went back to home movie libary is there a setting i can se to revert it
    thanks David

Yep, done all that.  Repeatly.  Don't get any sort of recovery mode message or the phone showing up on iTunes at all.  iTunes is most current version, all diagnostics show everything fine, and it works fine with my current phone.  Just....nothing.

  • ITunes dont play some movies

    Hello,
I have a question. It sounds maybe stupid. But I still dont understand it.
I downloader some movies from iTunes. Like The Avengers, The Double and Gamer.
All movies are in full hd. I use a HDMI cable to connect my pc with my tv. But whatevery I try I cant play that movies. Not all. The only movie I can play is Gamer HD.
Someone know the problem. I know the movies have a dmr protection. Thats why I use iTunes. But I dont understand why iTunes can't play them.
    Tom.

I forgot to say: I dont get error message from iTunes.

  • Can't authorize iTunes to play a movie I own?

Hi! I bought a movie a long time ago on iTunes and have watched it before. I went to try and watch it again and got an authorization message. I typed in my password, but the same window asking me to authorize this computer to play the movie popped up again. It continues to do so whenever I type in my password, which I know is correct. How do I fix this and get it to play my movie?

  • Solution for transferring and playing  video/movies through HDMI

This solution is for those of you who want to actually USE the HDMI out on your droid X!
I will explain after the instructions what movies will work and what will not (FYI - on my PC I am using Windows 7 but this also supports Mac and my Droid X has not been rooted):
    1) Download and install the Miro Video Converter (its free)  http://www.mirovideoconverter.com/
    2) Drag and drop the video you want into the converter. It will convert AVI, H264, FLV, MOV, WMV, XVID, MKV and Theora to mp4.
    3) When choosing the device to convert to, choose IPAD. ***DO NOT CHOOSE DROID - IT WILL NOT WORK***
    4) By default the converter will drop the mp4 file into the same directory as your original movie file.
    5) Connect your Droid X via USB. Set your USB to mass storage mode under notifications.
    6) Copy the video file to the DCIM\camera folder. After copy you can unmount your phone.
    7) Once your phone remounts the SD card (mine takes a couple seconds), go to your Gallery app. You will now see the videos you copied and can play them. Choose the HDMI option onscreen to kick out to HDMI (you may have to hit the play button that comes up onscreen after going to HDMI)
***REASONS WHY A CONVERSION MAY NOT WORK***
    1) The droid x only outputs 2 CH audio, so your source file and converted file must also be 2 channel audio. This means you have to make sure you are converting a dvd to 2 channel stereo BEFORE converting it through miro. You will get video but no audio if your audio source is not compatible. you cannot convert multi channel surround into two channel through Miro.
    2) If you choose to use another converter other than miro, make sure you convert video using mp4/h264 and AAC for audio. you cannot just drag an avi or wmv file into your droid x, it doesnt have the supported codecs to play it.
    3) make sure the HDMI out is ON (under settings/hdmi)
    4) you have to make sure your Gallery can see the file - there are other directories that may work - I just chose the one when my Droid X was dropping movies I recorded.
I hope this helps everyone that actually wants to USE their HDMI output!
    ~Tom

Nice information,,,,   BUT wouldn't it be easier to just use DVD Catalyst?  I use it now and the vidoes I have made with it using Motorola Droid default stiings works flawlessly with my HDMI cable, I use my Droid as my own portible DVD Player to play on others tvs when I visit.

  • Can I stream music from my itunes and play a movie at the same time?

I have an Apple TV hooked up to both an audio receiver and my TV with HDMI and optical cables. Can I stream a Netflix movie and also music from itunes (on a Macbook Pro) at the same time, so the audio and video content don't match?

    No.

  • When watching on Apple TV, iTunes is playing another move.

Whenever I watch or browse my playlists on Apple TV, iTunes react as well in making clicking noises, playing songs or playing movies. Why is this?

If you don't want to use a remote with your computer the easiest thing to do is just to turn the IR off. (System Preferences > Security > General, click on the Advanced button in the bottom right corner - If the button is greyed out, click on the lock icon and enter your administrators password))
If you still want to use your computer remote then you must pair your computers remote with the computerAND the Apple TV remote with the Apple TV.
To pair a remote with a device hold down the menu and FF buttons together for six seconds or until you see a chain icon on screen (best take the computer into another room, or turn it off, when you do this)

  • Itunes not syncing Videos/Movies

Itunes will not sync my movies, rentals, nor videos i have bought from itunes.
This is my 3rd ipod classic given to me by the apple store to "fix" the problem that has yet to be "fixed". It will sync the very first time i plug it in as in, just straight out of the package. but never again will it sync. i have tried loading it maunally but that doesnt work either. and since all the people do at the store is hand me a new one i have no other options.

I had that same problem when I tried adding the "Blue Harvest" digital copy to my itunes (family guy movie). If you have an ipod "nano," which one is it? Be sure that the iPod you are using is video capable and has enough memory to take on a movie or video. A 40~45 minute TV show eats up about 450~500mb.
I have the new square looking 3rd generation iPod, so I'll try help. What you do is make sure the cord is NOT connected to your computer yet, plug it into your ipod, then plug the other end into the USB port. It should automatically sync up. After the syncing is complete, select your ipod in the column on the left hand side of the screen. It should look like a little ipod in the column of music lists and other stuff.
Once that is selected, you should see something that has the amount of space that's on your ipod and other interesting information showing on the main menu on your itunes. If you look at the top of that, there should be a row of tabs. Click the one that says Movies/Videos (one or the other, not sure right now, but it should be obvious which tab to click).
Once that is selected, there will be two options. One will already be set, click the other one and set it up so that it syncs up your selected movies, videos, tv shows, etc...
Right after that, don't go anywhere, click on APPLY at the bottom of the screen. It should start syncing up again and that will add the movies/videos to your ipod. It may take a little while to load up, but no more than a few minutes.
    Hope this helps, J.
