ITunes and App Store saying my password is incorrect when it isn't?

I have never before had an issues with iTunes or the App Store. However, starting yesterday evening, I went to sign into the iTunes Store on my laptop and it told me my password was incorrect. The same problem occured on my iPhone when I went to download a twitter update.
However, I've managed to sign onto the Apple website in order to post this question with no difficulties? Iv'e waited 24 hours now since my password hasn't been working on both my laptop and iPhone and nothing has changed despite changing my password twice?
If anyone could give me a solution or any ideas on how to fix this it would be very much appriciated!

Seeing a lot of threads re: imessage being down in the last hour, could be a problem with the Apple server.  I would try again later.

    If you have Restricted your MAIN account in the perental controls that may be the reason. You may have to create a new Administrators account to change the settings on the parent controls.
    Not sure as I have never used that feature on any computer I own.

    Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
    This works for some users. Not sure why.
    Go to Settings>General>Date and Time> Set Automatically>Off. Set the date ahead by about a year.Then see if you can connect to the store.

    I am stuck.  I can't download apps or music.  I can log into my account and change the password.  As soon as I attemp to buy something, it says the password is wrong.
    I think I may have a second apple ID attached to another email. When I try to add a backup email to the account, it tells me that email is attached to another Apple ID.  But when I ask Apple to send a reset to that email, nothing happens.

I have re entered the account info in settings making sure I am using a US credit card with a US billing address, on a Sprint phone I bought in the US, but it still tries to redirect me to the Australian store even though I am logged in with the apple ID associated with my US account..     Did you tried changing Settings > General > International > Region Format?
    Date & Time  > Time Zone?

    Thank you for your reply. The security code has disappeared but even when I enter it back on it still says incorrect information. I've added the card details again and know they are correct so unsure what is going on! Think a trip to Apple is in order tomorrow!

Unfortunately I had allowed icloud to hijack my airbook files, so of course I am afraid I will lose them tomorrow when I exchange my iphone for a new one and cannot keep an icloud account i cannot access.     When fist setting up your new iphone you will be asked to log in with an apple id and password. If this did not happen you can then do as you suggested going to settings to itunes and app store and add your apple id login. This apple id login must have already been created for the iphone to accept it. If this apple id is already created but is not being accepted by your iphone you then should shut down your iphone and restart the device.

    Content is forever tied to the Apple ID that bought it. Apple does not transfer content from one Apple ID to another. Apple does not merge Apple IDs. You will never be able to access your content bought with another Apple ID with a new Apple ID.
