ITunes and Bonjour services

Hello All
iPod Touch 3rd Gen v 4.2.1
Desktop Windows 7 Prof 32 bit
This morning I updated my iTunes to v 10.5.3.3. Then I tried to sync between an app on my iDevice and a desktop component on my Windows Desktop. Before the update of iTunes everything synced correctly....after the update I could not sync with my desktop. The app's Support advised that I should uninstall Bonjour services from my desktop and reinstall. The Bonjour on my desktop is v 3.0.0.10 (updated by Apple when iTunes updated) and the new download to install would be v 2.0.2  The app's Support believes that this version of Bonjour is conflicting with their desktop sync conduit.
What will happen to iTunes and/or syncing my iDevice with iTunes by installing the lower version of Bonjour?
Thanks

Does your ASUS also have an ethernet NIC card?
By looking at the Bonjour service, the dependency tab shows Bonjour is dependent on TPCIP. And therefore, the brand of NIC card installed with its drivers or firmware.
I was thinking along those lines...several folks are having this problem and I wondered if it was a certain brand or release of NIC card. I'm sure Apple did not test every NIC card on the market. They'd never get anything released.

    (2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.

  • Hijack This and Bonjour Services

The HijackThis advisor at hijackthis.de tells me that there is an unknown file in Winsock LSP:
c:\program files\bonjour\mdnsnsp.dll and tells me that it should be removed and to try the LSPFix from Cexx.org.
What is this file? Is it corrupted? Will I be unable to use iTunes and QuickTime if I apply the fix that they give me or delete the file?

Bonjour is Apple's service which is used for iTunes Music Sharing. If you apply that "fix", the Music Sharing functionality will not work.
I'd leave it be. HijackThis has not yet updated their information that this is a valid LSP.

  • Linksys Router and Bonjour Services

Does anyone have any experience getting Bonjour services working with a Linksys router. I've got a Linksys Etherfast router (BEFSR41) serving two Tiger Macs, and one Leopard Mac. I can manually connect from any computer to another computer (Go -> Connect to Server) and transfer files. However, bonjour services such as iChat, iPhoto Sharing, and iTunes do not work.
I found out that when I go to the routing tab on the router, and save the settings, as the router powers up and powers down some contacts will quickly appear and disappear in my iChat Bonjour contact list on all of the computers on the network, but even if I quickly click and try to IM with one of them, nothing gets through.
Any thoughts on getting this working?

I used a linksys wrt54g with 3rd party software for the longest time and bonjour worked perfectly.
I would check in the web UI of your router to make sure setting such as 'filter multicast" is disabled as in this example.
Also try setting your mac's built in application firewall to allow all connections.

  • ITunes and Bonjour

Trying to download latest update, but it keeps asking for bonjour.msi file and I don't have the file.  How do I get it or is there a way to download without bonjour?

it keeps asking for bonjour.msi file
Unfortunately, this sort of trouble has gotten more complicated to deal with ever since Microsoft pulled the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from their Download Center on June 25. First we have to find a copy of the utility.
Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for at least version 3.0 of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (The results from mydigitallife and Major Geeks are worth checking.)
After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any Bonjour entries and click "Remove".
Restart the PC, and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • ITunes and Vista Service Pack1

Service Pack1 for Vista was downloaded this morning. Cannot get itunes to recognize my iPod. Receive error message "Cannot connect ti Itunes error (0xE8000001). Any suggestions

I also installed SP1 this morning. My 1st Gen iPod nano is recognized just fine, but iTunes isn't playing audio. I select a file from my library, click the Play button, it changes to the Pause button, but the file doesn't play. The progress indicator never moves.
I've tried various files, both M4P and MP3 formats. Same result.
MP3s play in WMP just fine.

  • TS4123 This is not correct solution. I have fresh copy of Windows 7 64 bit and I have the same problem.  Autorun only shows the Bonjour service.  It started when try to sync more than one iphone.

This is not correct solution. I have fresh/new copy of Windows 7 64 bit and I have the same problem.
Autorun only shows the Apple Bonjour service.  It started when try to sync more than one iphone over WiFi. I have two iphones and an iPad. I turned off syncing over WiFi and still has high CPU utilization. One of the CPU's is pegged at 100%.  It is the AppleMobileDeviceService.exe process.

For the record, I then followed the suggestion of MarcDCMB in https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4291206 of just manually restarting the Apple Mobile Device service in Windows services.msc once each time after starting iTunes and the service no longer hogs CPU after that service restart.  Not too painful as a work-around, and apparently an effective one, but clearly not a solution to the problem.  Again, as above, all the other solutions didn't work for me and I have no conflicting software as far as I can tell. So you'd have to say this Apple's problem.
Also FTR, I am still on the 5.2.0.6 version of the Apple Mobile Device Support MSI and I don't know if that is relevant to this work-around working but my sense is that it is NOT relevant.  I'll report back on this thread if I re-upgrade and the problem returns in spite of the service-restart approach.

  • Conflict between Bonjour service and Airplay!!

Airplay seems to dissappear, seemingly at random, on my Denon 2312ci AVR connected to my LAN through Netgear WNDR3800.  I also have an iPhone and an iPad.
However, I have found a pattern and a possible sorce of the problem.
If the AVR is initialized on the LAN after Bonjour has started up on my Windows 7 PC, then everything works as it is supposed to.  The AVR initialization can be done by switching to or from DHCP on the AVR.  It doesn't matter.  Airplay is available in iTunes, and on my iOS devices.
However, if Bonjour is started after the AVR is on the LAN, like if I reboot my PC, then Airplay disappears from all 3 (iTunes and my 2 iOS devices)!!  The AVR is on the LAN, can be pinged, can be controlled via the browser on the PC, can stream internet radio and from my media server on the LAN.  If I stop the Bonjour service on the PC, Airplay reappears on my iOS devices (but not iTunes, which depends on Bonjour).
Uninstalling iTunes and Bonjour and reinstalling from the latest download from Apple does not help.  As soon as Bonjour loads on my PC,and the AVR is already on the LAN from before, Airplay on the AVR gets disabled!!  If I stop Bonjour manually or shutdown my PC, Airplay shows up on my iPhone and iPad.
My solution now: I have changed Bonjour to not load up automatically. Now, Airplay is available on my iOS devices (except iTunes).  When I need to run iTunes, I start Bonjour manually, run iTunes.  Airplay is disabled during this time.  When I'm done with iTunes, I close iTunes and shut down Bonjour.  Airplay is now available on my iOS devices.
It is a kludge, but it is a workaround.
I googled Netgear and Airplay and someone suggested setting the RIP direction to "Both" and RIP version to "RIP_1" but that has not fixed the problem.
Anyway, I am at my wits end.  Bonjour (and Airplay) is happy if the AVR is initialized on the LAN while Bonjour is running.  How do I make Bonjour cooperate with my 2312ci when the AVR is already initialized on the LAN and Bonjour starts up?
    Aloke

I have recently had the Airplay disappearing problem with a Pioneer SCLX56 AV Amp. I tried disabling the Bojour Print Services on my Windows 8 machine and magically the airplay icon for the amp reappears.
The funny thing is that I have 3 airplay destinations, an airport express, apple tv and the amp and only the amp disappears when I turn on Bonjour on the computer, so it suggests to me that Apple's implimentation of Airplay on their devices is different to the implimentation used by 3rd party manufacturers.
Thanks to you all for starting this thread and following the problem through - it's saved a lot of diagnosis.

  • Unable to uninstall Bonjour and iTunes, and cant get into iTunes at all!!!

I have been trying to install the new iPhone update for iTunes 9 (I have Windows Vista), but it didnt work. So following advice on the Apple Support pages I tried uninstalling it, as it suggests in this order... 1. iTunes 2. QuickTime 3. Apple Software Update 4. Apple Mobile Devices Support 5. Bonjour 6. Apple Application Support, and managed to uninstall everything apart from iTunes and Bonjour, it just will not let me remove these?? so I have tried to re-install iTunes 9, and then I get a message coming up saying 'the older version of Bonjour cannot be removed' and then at the end it says 'installation interupted' I now cannot open iTunes at all and the message I am getting is 'this action is only valid for products that are currently installed' very annoying as I cant do anything at all and so am unable to sync my iPhone!.
    I hope someone can help!
    Many thanks
