Itunes and converting video's

Can anyone help me?
I have some movies (Quicktime and Media Player movies) and I want to convert them to AAC so I can use them for my Ipod.
Problem is I don't know how to do that.
I've tried a lot of convertingprograms, but I couldn't find AAC converters.
Please help me, cause I don't want to buy any movies at the Music Store of Itunes.

Please go to this forum iPod with video and read some of the 100's of posts about this very question.
Please note that AAC is a music format not a video format.

You can't do it in one step. Add to iTunes first, Once the tracks are in iTunes you may convert to a different format.

  • Itunes/QT converts video from sound to no-sound

I have a video that has sound. when i convert it for ipod or when I convert in QT to ipod, it ends up converted with no sound. Any thoughts? Thanks!

iTunes and Quicktime don't much like muxed MPEG files, they lose the sound when you convert them.

  • Need expert advice to import and convert video using Windows COM SDK

    Hi,
Does anybody know can I import a video file and convert the footage to iPod compatible format using vbscript?
I found a COM function 'convertfile', but it seems only work with audio and doesn't work with mpg files. Does the current version of COM SDK 6.0.2.23 support conversion of mpg?
    Set iTunesApp = WScript.CreateObject("iTunes.Application")
    Status = iTunesApp.ConvertFile("m:\test.mpg")
    Thanks in advance.
    Intel   Windows XP Pro

Thanks, but I know iTunes 6 (windows version) has a built-in function to convert a video to a format for iPod G5. That's why I wonder if the iTunes Windows COM SDK has the function call so that I can automatically import my scheduled recording to iPod. I think that's the advantage of iTunes / iPod. Actually I love my iPod G3 and iPod mini, but I don't see a reason for me to upgrade to G5 if it only accept H264 and mp4 because all my recordings (directly from my TV card) are only mpeg format and there is currently no command line tools to convert them for iPod. I know a bit of programming and it is much more conveninent to use scripts to do the mpg -> ipod conversion automatically than doing it manually using GUI programs..
    Thanks

  • ITunes Rejecting Converted video - Why?

I have a 5G Ipod and am using v7.02 for ITunes. I am trying to copy converted video (Mediafork converted) into Itunes but Itunes does not appear to accept this even when using the 'click and drag', 'add to library',or import methods, or when using third-party software such as Podner. I get a green + icon when I drag to the Itunes Library- but then nothing.
I believe I have converted the video files correctly (MPEG4- fps, bitrate etc), so do not consider this to be the problem. Any idea what the problem is here?
The converted files are presenting as Quicktime - could it be Quicktime over-riding Itudes?
    Thanks in advance

    It's not converted correctly.
Did you manually set the parameters or use the default settings present in media fork for the iPod(under H.264 menu)?

There are three easy steps to convert videos to MP4 video for BlackBerry Bold 9000.
Step1: Add the video clips to the BlackBerry Video Converter. Batch video adding and batch video conversion are supported. (You can download BlackBerry Video Converter from: http://www.any-video-converter.com)
Step 2: Choose output profile "BlackBerry MPEG-4 Movie (*.mp4)" in the profile drop-down list. The default settings is good enough. For better enjoying videos on BlackBerry Bold 9000, you can adjust some settings. Set frame size to 480x320 and video bitrate can be up to 1500kbps.

  • Import folders to Itunes and convert bitrate.

I have some 400+ folders relating to 400+ albums I have ripped to 320bps.
This is a Windows XP machine and the folder format is:-
    C:\User\Mp3\Folder 1, C:\User\Mp3\Folder 2.....C:\User\Mp3\Folder 444
I need to retain the original folder format as they are played from my PC through my Hifi; they are backed up off this machine!
I want to convert all the files in these folders to 128bps so that I can put them on my 20GB Ipod.
Every suggestion I have seen seems to mean that I can only do this at file level; opening 400+ folders and selecting the, 4367, files is going to be some task.
Is there a way that Itunes can import these folders AND convert to 128bps?

    Thank you for your advice.
I should explain what I want. I have spent the last month or so ripping my CD collection and storing the results in folders of my choice.
We mainly play the MP3s on our PC using Winamp with the Dynamic Library plugin that allows me to just select a folder which is normally just one album. This means that we don't have to setup play lists to listen to a symphony.
The Ipod is really my wife's. I use a Palm TX to listen to music on the move. I load MP3s onto SD cards and the Palm will again play a folders worth i.e an album from that.
So I need to retain the folder structure I have setup on my PC.
Using Advance > Convert Selection does create a folder structure but not in my way. I creates an Artist folder then a Album folder. I would have to select only the album folders for my Palm; 400 separate selections and I would have to amend every one because my chosen folder name has the Artist or the Composer as the first part of the folder name e.g Beethoven Symphony No 1, Elvis Presley The Collection Vol 1 etc This structure works very well in Dynamic Library and my Palm.
I have found some software that converts to 128 and keeps my folder structure but it loses some of the Tag information.
Before I start looking for other software I thought I would see if Itunes can do the conversion. I suppose I was hoping for a button that said keep users folder structure and names!
Any further advice would be appreciated

  • Can't watch TVshow/movie on mac(itunes) and switch video output to Apple TV

I just got my 2nd gen Apple TV, great product. From the website and the announcement I was to believe that you could be watching a movie/tv show on your mac (using itunes) and have the video automatically "pushed" to your TV by selecting the Apple TV within itunes (continuous play), like music does. I know you can go through the Computers Menu directly on the Apple TV to gain entry to the same content but I thought you could continually watch the show and switch the output to the Apple TV.
Maybe this only be applicable for iPod/iTouch/iPad devices when the new iOS is released with airplay? Or maybe this will become an available function for itunes on macs when they enhance airplay with the new ios? Or maybe I am missing something really basic.
    Let me know ....thanks

    gmac99 wrote:
So will they provide an update to itunes at the same time as the new iOS release in November that will allow itunes on Mac to do the same thing
i don't recall that actually specifically being mentioned at any point, so where did you see that you could do that?

  • Used ITunes to Convert Video for IPod, But No Go!

I have a video from a vodcast I want to play on my video IPod. I used ITunes to convert the video from the .mov to .mv4 format. The video plays well in ITunes (in both formats). But when I try to sync it to my IPod, I get the warning that it cannot play on this IPod.
The thing is, I'm able to sync other .mv4 or .mp4 files on the IPod.

  • What program to install and convert video formats...?

I am trying to find a program that will install on 10.3.9 and that can convert video formats (ie mpg and mp4 to wmv). Any suggestions and help would be greatly appreciated. I did buy a newer Mac (PowerBook G4 with Leopard) but for now need to use my old Mac. I need to convert to WMV to use on my GoGear mp3 player, which is NOT Mac compatible, only Windows. How I miss my iPod Thanks again for any help.

Well ffmpeg should be included by default. It is the core of the VH engine, but it may have been updated since your version of VH. And you may not need it depending on the conversion you are trying to make. Which version of VH is it ?
So you are trying to convert the mpeg and mp4 files into wmv. Do you select the 320 pixels wide option ? Are the source movies 320 pixels wide ? or larger ?
What settings do you use in VH ? ie. Which tab do you select for converting to ? and what options do you select within it ?
Do you change the destination directory ?
If you open the mkv files in QuickTime, it may complain about missing codecs, click Cancel and it'll leave you with a blank window. Select "Show Movie Properties" under the Window menu, what is under "Format" for the Video Track ? Is there also an Audio Track ?
QuickTime shouln't complain about the movie, mpeg and mp4 should open and play just fine. If it does complain it's almost certain that the files are not the format they claim to be - the Show Movie Properties will sort this out.

  • How to Rip DVD and Convert Video for Your iPad On ...

Aiseesoft iPad Converter Suite is newly released software for iPad fans. It can rip any DVD files (DVD-Video, DVD folder and DVD IFO file) to iPad, convert all popular videos/audios to iPad formats and transfer files from PC to iPad, from iPad to PC and from iPad to iPad. It works similar to iTunes. So why do you always buy movies and songs from iTunes with extra money? It can help you make use of your resources.
The product is very easy in use. You just need download, install and run the trial version.
The product is multifunctional. It can trim, crop, edit video effect, merge, add text and image watermark, select audio track and subtitle, adjust video settings and snapshot.
If you are Mac user, you can choose Aiseesoft iPad Converter Suite for Mac.

To create an iTunes playlist, at the iTunes menu bar go to File and select New Playlist. Or at the bottom of the iTunes source list is a + button. Selecting the + button will add a new Playlist.
Enter a name for the Playlist.
Select Music under Library in the iTunes source list to view all music available in your iTunes library. Select and drag the music that you want in the Playlist to the Playlist and then release. This does not copy the music. This creates a pointer to the music in your iTunes library only. To delete a song from the Playlist, select the song followed by delete. Deleting a song from a Playlist does not delete the song from your iTunes library. You can have the same song in multiple playlists.
With the iPhone connected to iTunes, under the Music tab for your iPhone sync preferences select Sync Music and below select selected playlists. All iTunes playlists are available in the window below. Select the Playlist or Playlists that you want transferred to your iPhone followed by a sync.
To add additional music to your iPhone, add the music to the Playlist or Playlist in iTunes that you have selected to be transferred to your iPhone followed by a sync. To remove a song from your iPhone, delete the song from the Playlist that you have selected to be transferred to your iPhone followed by a sync.

  • ITunes and QTime videos and movies work horrible in Netbooks, All Versions

I own several Netbooks and my latest purchase is the HP 5101 Mini which is one of the best Netbooks on the market. I can't understand why my movie files that I purchased on iTunes play back so choppy. Yet, movie files I purchased that I can play through DivX7, PowerDVD 9 and even Windows Media Player work without a hitch. I also downloaded the MPEG-2 converter for QTime and there is not a bit of difference in video playback on my Netbooks. I thought Apple was supposed to have the best codec software for playback, etc. What gives?

As far as I know, there is no way to make iTune or QuickTime runs faster on Windows platform. However, this should somewhat answer your question as of why movie file play back is so choppy.
"iTunes for Windows carries a base of intermediary code which translates the OS X framework into specific Windows program calls, adding significantly to the overall bloat and overhead.
The technique allows Apple to rapidly develop applications in parallel for both OS X and Windows, and it keep a single code base, which simplifies maintenance. It also results in Windows versions being a pixel-perfect copy of their OS X counterparts because the same code defines internal logic and aesthetics in both application versions. But the intermediary "translation" layer that's added to the Windows version of iTunes eats up a lot of CPU time, resulting in a sluggish performance under Windows."

  • ITunes and s-video to TV

I cannot get iTunes video to play on my TV via my s-video connection.
Real time and Windows media players work fine but not Quick time or iTunes.
    Any ideas?

Well we found out what to do, Go to itues Prefrences and then go to play back, check the Preferred Video Version, and make sure it's in 720p not 1080p, you can down load 1080p movies and tv showe, but on the 1st and 2nd Gen Apple TV's they only play back 720p, the 3rd Generation plays 1080p and it's only 99.00.  We are getting one for Christmas from a Family member I think.  Good luck, and I hope this helps!!!
