ITunes And Digital Copy Question

sorry if this has been asked before but
is there a way to register all my digital copy blu rays onto my itunes and delete them so they dont take space away from my macbook pro?
i copied Juno onto the computer then deleted it, and they let me know that even if i delete the movie, it will stay in my itunes. But it doesnt, how do i/ can i redownload these movies anytime?
PS- reason why im doing this is because i notice Digital Copys expire, and i figured that if i load them up, i would be safe from them not expiring

As I understand what you are trying to accomplish - copy the Bluray to iTunes so you can avoid an expiration date - then delete the items from iTunes to the trash.
If this is what you intend to do then the items are removed from iTune database and deleted from the HD when you empty the Trash.
A possible work around is when you want to d/l the Bluray after the expiration date is to reset your computers current date and time to an earlier date and time - then copy the items.

  • Digital Copy Question

I was wondering for the Digital Copy you get from itunes if your given a portable version of the movie for your iPod and a regular copy of the movie to watch on the PC.

if your given a portable version of the movie for your iPod
    Yes.
and a regular copy of the movie to watch on the PC.
You already purchased the regular copy. It's the DVD.
You can watch the digital copy on your computer (or iPod) or you can watch the DVD on your computer.

  • Itunes and cd copying problem

    hey guys
just wondering if anyone has had similar problems to me...
when i put an audio cd in my cd drive (real cds), and try to copy, sometimes on a particular track it gets stuck, and after it gets stuck the cd drive keeps spinning and stopping, then spinning and stopping (etc)... if i try to close itunes it goes into the spinning rainbow and it wont close... usually i have to force quit it, but that doesn't stop the cd from spinning... i then have to either put it to sleep and hope the cd stops spinning, or i have to force a shutdown and turn it back on...
if i try it again the track does it again... i can copy all the other songs but that one... i dont know if it happens to be that the cd is scratched or something (because the cds i tried to copy i guess arent the BEST condition, but not scratched in a way that wouldnt work on my pc)...
oh.. actually i just spammed my eject button after force quitting itunes and my cd popped out... bu yeah.. anyone know anything about this? had similar problems or know how i can possibly fix it?
its happened to two of my cds, and ive copied over about.. hm... 5 cds? any help would be mucho appreciated!

A good thing to try is to take the same cd's into an apple retail store and attempt the same "rip" there.
If they encounter the same issue then you know where the problem lies, but if all goes well at the store then you've got more work to do.
Try playing back the same tracks on your computer to see if there's any skipping when they're played.
It could be something relating to iTunes, so it may help to try the rip in another user account.
If it happens in two accounts it might be worth it to attempt a PRAM reset, as I've used it to clear up some weird optical drive issues in the past, but try things in the order I've listed and hopefully you get somewhere.

  • ITunes and CDDB/Gracenote question

I have searched on the forum everywhere but no helpful replies. My problem is I just bought a new computer and installed the new version of itunes and the updated software for the Mini. Upon inserting a CD into the computer, iTunes recognizes the CD but will not download the names of the songs. I have even tried highlighting all the songs and doing a manual "get CD track names" from the advanced menu. iTunes just says "connecting to Gracenote CDDB" and immediately stops without any names of songs. I have tried everything deleting and reinstalling, deleting my virus protection software (McAffee), no help. I am using a verizon wireless broadband connection. Any help would be much appreciated as I am to wits end with this thing.
    Thanks

I've solved the problem! My verizon broadband program has something called "Venturi" on it. Venturi compresses data so pages are supposed to load faster. I disabled this funtion (when you clik open the broadband program instead of connecting right to the internet I found a preferences or tools section & within that was a tab for Venturi. I unchecked the box that said to use Venturi). Now as soon as I put a disc in itunes grabs the info without any prompting.
I closed my internet connection and tried to reopen but it didnt load, so I re checked the venturi and it loaded. I'll play with that again when I get home. Instead of rechecking the venturi maybe I could have just refreshed the page. I dont know. Either way, as long as Venturi is disabled while using itunes everything works great!

  • ITunes and Album Artwork question on Mac with two users

Hey everyone, I have what I hope is a pretty simple question. Right now, on my iMac, I have 2 user accounts, one for me and one for my wife. I wanted us to be able to share all of our music, so when I was setting up the computer, I put the iTunes Music Library in a /User/Shared/Music directory. Then, inside iTunes, for both users, I pointed to this new library. Everything here works great. When I add a song under 1 user, I just have to go to Add to Library under the other user and the songs are added. Works fine.
My main question is about the album artwork. I recently spent a lot of time under my user account going through and making sure I have all of the album artwork for every song we have in our library. I never thought about checking this on my wife's account, but when I did I realized that all of the stuff I added is not there. Anyway, I did some checking and found out that the album artwork is stored in each users Music directory. I did some reading on the web, and what I did was move my album artwork folder to the /Users/Shared/ directory, then created a symbolic link in my user directory to the shared folder. I did the same in my wife's account. I thought this would do the trick but it hasn't changed anything. Can anyone help me out here? Thanks so much for your time.

The artwork is stored in Music/iTunes/Artwork.
iTunes handles everything in that folder when iTunes adds it to the database.
This info is maintained in the iTunes library file in the iTunes folder.
iTunes will not do anything by copying or pointing to the artwork folder in your folder.
Unless you are both using the same iTunes library file, you will need to get your own artwork.
I put the iTunes Music Library
Do you mean the iTunes music folder?
Here's a way to do what you want.
Move your *iTunes folder* to the shared directory.
Open iTunes holding Option and select *Choose existing library*.
Select the iTunes library file in the Shared directory.
    Everything should work fine.
    Quit iTunes.
Move the *iTunes music folder* from /User/Shared/Music directory into the *iTunes folder* you moved into the Shared directory.
    Start iTunes. Everything should work.
    Quit iTunes.
    Log into your wife's account.
Start iTunes holding the Option key, select *Choose existing library* and select the *iTunes library file* in the iTunes folder you moved into the Shared directory.
Everything should be there including all artwork.
Each user needs to quit iTunes before the other user can open it.
Shouldn't be a problem since you are using the same computer.

  • ITunes and radio broadcasting question

Hello.  I have a rather large iTunes library that's stored on an external hard drive.  When I do a radio show, I use my MacBook and the external hard drive.  I have recently experienced several disastrous crashes of iTunes during a show.  I'm wondering if things wouldn't go better if I somehow made a 'sub-set' of my iTunes Library for each show, put it on my desktop and ran iTunes that way.  If that's a good idea, I'm not 100% sure how to set that all up without somehow screwing up my Library.  Thanks for the community's assistance.

Once you make sure that your EHD is functional, you can play music from it, your computer recognizes the location of the iTunes music folder on the EHD, yes, you can erase the iTunes music folder off the main HD. I ran iTunes off an EHD on my old PC before I got my Mac, & when I made the initial move, I simply went through & made sure everything was working from the EHD before I erased from the main HD. Make sure you DO NOT erase to folders in your "my music " folder, one is the iTunes.xml, & the other is the .itl file. Those 2 files are the database for your library & must stay on your system's main HD as that is their "home."
I was asking about playlists, etc. as their is a way to back those up to the EHD in case of a crash. It would be a good idea to export copies of the .xml & .itl files to the EHD. That way in case of a crash, you will have everything you need on the EHD to get iTunes up & running. Good Luck!

  • ITunes and Digital Media Center?

I am looking for a Digital Media Center as a replacement for my CD Juke Box that can organize music, photos, videos, etc - has anyone done that - or is there a manufacturer that makes one available? Everything that I have found runs Windows Media Center which I am very unhappy with. Want something that I can transfer all my media to but using iTiunes rather than the Windows system??? Anybody have suggestion??

  • HT1539 my daughter has taken the insert page with redemption code out of the dvd case and we cannot find it.  is there any way i can still download my digital copy of the movie in itunes?

We Have managed to lose the insert page that came with our dvd and digital copy.  Is there a way i can still download the digital copy without the redemption code?

Please please help me, if you know how.

  • I am trying to redeem a digital copy of a film in Australia from a DVD i bought while in the UK, i get an error message saying this film is only intended for UK and Ireland users. Is there a way to counteract this so i can upload it to my ipad?

I bought Hangover 2 while i was back in the UK and brought it back to Australia with me, it's a Blu-Ray, DVD and Digital copy, i went to redeem the digital copy back in Australia through Itunes but it says the Code is only redeemable in the UK and Ireland. Is there anyway to get around this?

Not legally, and I don't even know if there is a way illegally (which would violate the Terms Of use of this service anyway).

  • The ever popular digital movie copy question

I purchased a dvd with the digital copy. It's a Warner Bros movie and I downloaded their player & movie. I can't get it to load in iTunes. I have found the file, tried the drag and drop method, but I can't get it into iTunes. Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

Is it an iTunes compatible digital copy? Doesn't sound like it since you donwloaded it without iTunes.
If so, you go to the iTunes store and click on Redeem then enter the code for the digital download.
You don't download it then add it to iTunes.

  • HT1539 iTunes digital copy VS Ultra Violet digital copy

Why is it when I purchase the 3D Bluray, Bluray, and Digital Copy of a movie, when I redeem my movie through the UltraViolet method it is in HD format, however, when I redeem it through  iTunes, I only receive an SD version of the movie?  I think it's pretty unreasonable that if I'm purchasing a Bluray editition of a movie that I'm only receiving a SD version in iTunes and everyone else recognizing the fact that I spent the extra money so they give me the version in HD.  Please let me know if I'm doing something wrong when I'm redeeming my movies through iTunes.  I selected the option in iTunes that says download HD when available and HD movies I've purchased directly through iTunes are downloaded in HD.  I've called iTunes support and they say it's not their fault and it's the company that provided the digital copy so I have to get with them.

Update; I was able to transfer/sync Star Trek Into Darkness to my iPad. The movie works fine on the iPad.
As for the extras; The most important one was the commentary. I found the commentary video file from (Windows 7)/Music/iTunes/iTunes Media/Movies/Star Trek Into Darkness - iTunes Extras/Star Trek Into Darkness - iTunes Ext.ite/videos/enhanced_commentary.
I then dragged this commentary file to the iTunes/Library/Movies window. Then a blank icon for that appeared in iTunes.
And I was able to then sync the commentary to my iPad.
So, I've got what I most wanted on my iPad. It's just too bad that the Star Trek Into Darkness extras and the movie do not work properly in iTunes on my Windows PC.

  • HT203167 How to get movie back? iTunes crashed after digital copy download.

We bought The Hunger Games blu-ray and digital copy today. My daughter put the digital copy in her iTunes, iTunes crashed before any chance at backup and the digital copy is no longer there and we can't use the code again. How can we get the digital copy???

Turns out it was a silly error. Problem resolved.

  • HT1539 Bought Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter 3D but unable to redeem Digital Copy code.

Bought Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter 3D Blu Ray and it comes with UltraViolet and Digital Copy. UltraViolet works but Digital Copy says "The code entered is not valid" when redeem. Please help. Thanks

I just ran into this problem today... on Windows, I had to manually launch the MediaManagerII.exe from the DVDROM / MediaManager folder on the disc. I entered the provided code and then it gave me a different code from which to use in iTunes. It worked after that! On a Mac, you just need to launch the Fox Digital Copy.app if it doesn't launch automatically. Let me know if you have any questions!

  • Watchmen digital copy code not working

I just bought a "watchmen director's cut" combo Blu-Ray and digital copy.  It was new in the shrink wrap from Target.  I'm trying to get the digital copy into my itunes, which is current release.  I've done this before for other movies without a problem.  This time it's saying the code is invalid.  I'm not dyslexic and I've tried a bunch of times.  Kind of frustrating.  Anyone else experience this?  How do I get this resolved?  Now that it's unsealed I can't take it back to Target.

I've seen this solution posted to nearly every thread and it hasn't worked for me. I still get the blank screen and if I start messin around too much, iTunes ends of crashing. Any other ideas out there?
