ITunes and ipod do not sync after loading itunes 10.3.1

The system gets stuck on "verifying your ipod". The Windows 7/64 bit is now recognizing my ipod as a USB mass storage device. Is there anyway to make sure this doesn't happen again. Each time there is an upgrade my iTunes does not sync with my ipod, it crashes with not being able to update my library with not enough memory and my windows operating system recognizes my ipod as a USB mass storage device.
This has happen for every upgrade and its not fair!!!
Each time i've had to uninstall the the upgrade, rename my itunes library then reinstall and it begins to work again. This time it did not work. Does someone have another solution?
I cannot restore my ipod because iTunes freezes and then shuts down.

Basics from the manual are restart, reset, restore from backup, restore as new.
Try restart.
If that fails to solve the issue, try reset, and so on.

When I tried the first time it asked me if i wanted it to stop syncing and to restore. I had to set up an admin user account on my pc after trying to restore my phone after ios 7 nearly broke my pc. I used the admin account to delete all apple stuff as instructed and installed 11.1.4. Hate the new look and all that was left was some old stuff i had bought on itunes.Anything less than about 2 years old and my extensive vinyl library i had uploaded all gone. i back up every week. i found some music in the recycle bin and it took hours to restore that but i was still missing loads. I plugged in my 3rd gen touch. All my sync settings were gone and it would not let me change them, it was all unticked so sync wiped my touch. i tried again but still wouldn't let me select anything and said duplicate names were specified, my options were to erase the touch, overwrite the library on the pc or cancel. So a disaster. Then I logged in under my usual user id where i had failed to download the new itunes and my old library still existed - shame i cannot back up or sync anymore here either. The only thing i could do was restore my wiped touch as i still had a back up left here. whenever i plug in i get the duplicate names specified message erase or cancel and i can't change the settings which are all unticked here too. I think itunes can see my admin account library and my usual account library and can see they are not the same and this is the duplicate names problem
i would like to know how i can get my music out of itunes safely on to my computer so i can play it on something other than itunes.

ITunes store won't open and iPod won't sync after I updated to 10.5 on Windows 7

So I recently upgraded iTunes to 10.5 on my Windows 7 running PC and the minute I did that the store would no longer open up. I get the "accessing" bar and it moves about halfway and then stops and disappears, then leaves my screen with a bunch of boxes and blue links instead of album pictures and what not (and the links don't work either). I also tried to sync my iPod and this will not work either. It goes through the "preparing to sync" mode and then makes it to "step 2 of 4" and freezes just after starting that, never to start again. I've even left it running for hours while I went to sleep or to work just to see if it would kick into gear but the bar never moves again. I've already configured the firewall to accept iTunes and I've done the whole uninstall/reinstall bit about 10 times, all to no avail. I've tried moving back down to iTunes 10.4.1 and it works great, except that my iPod already got the update for 10.5 to go through so it will no longer work with iTunes 10.4. I've been talking to a Tech guy for the past 2 weeks and we have tried a ton of things and nothing works, so if any of you out there have a solution please PLEASE help. This is really driving me insane.

I have had the exact same problem since allowing the 10.5 version of itunes to update on my computer. I spent over 1 hour on the phone with the apple support team, and they couldn't fix it. After they couldn't fix it, they tried to blame my Norton 360 security, even though I tried to explain to them that it is a Windows error, and it even happened after I deinstalled the security software. (and yes, disabled the Windows firewall.) I ended up deinstalling all apple programs, quicktime, bonjour, and itunes from my computer. I then googled "itunes apps. downloads" and found a website where I could download the previous version of itune for free. it's not ideal, but I was stuck in a situation where I couldn't use my ipod at all. I can survive like this until Apple realizes that we're not all crazy, and fixes the problem.

Now that I moved my itunes to a new computer why will my iphone and ipod touch not sync?

I just switched my itunes to my new laptop from my desktop (which no longer works). Everything seemed to be ok after I updated to the newest version of itunes. Now I cannot get my iphone (3G) and my ipod touch to sync at all. In fact when I plugged in my ipod touch it erased everything I had on there. I know these are older devices but I had no problems with syncing previously so why now? Even the backups will not work.

You can only sync to one computer/iTunes library. If you switch iTunes will erase the iPod and replaces the media with what is in the iTunes library of the new computer.
You should have done this:

You said "Even the backups will not work.". What happens when you try to restore from backup?

Identifying iPod models
As for your second question, we need to figure out how your music is configured to sync to your device. So you'll want to double check to see what options you have enabled from under your iPod's Summary and Music configuration tabs in iTunes. To access these tabs, plug your iPod in and click on it from under the Devices section in the left hand pane of iTunes to bring yourself to the Summary tab. Make note of what options are enabled here and then locate the Music tab along the top and select it. Also make note of what you have configured here and report back what you have found out.
For example, if you find that your iPod is set up to Sync only checked songs and videos (this option is found under the Summary tab) then make sure all of these new tracks have tick marks next to them in your main iTunes library.

Leftmy Ipod in my car during a cold nite worked fine when I started my car but went back into a house to grab something I left. When I came back it had a strange kinda greyed screen saying ok to disconnect. Woulnd t respond to anything even after I plugged it into my computer. So I try to restore it to factory settings. It restores but its still using the old name I had for it and it won't sync

Ipod Touch not syncing after Update

I've just restored my Ipod Touch with new software and it's been restored but it won't sync anything other than podcasts and the last album I added to my library.
All the boxes are ticked to sync music, apps, films etc but it's just not doing it.
Any ideas?

ICal and iPod calendar not syncing times

My iCal on my iPod and my iCal on my Mac sync dates but not the correct times. For instance, I type in a time for an appointment at 6pm on my iPod and sync to my Mac. The appointment will show up at the correct date but with a different time. All calendars are selected so that should not be the case. Does anyone have any ideas?

Perhaps the time zone is wrong on one of the devices.
On the Mac:
Go to Apple Menu > System Preferences > Language & Text > Formats > Region. Region should be set to the country of your choice. Do not have it set to "Custom" as this can have unexpected results in the iCal window.
Go to Apple Menu > System Preferences > Date & Time > Time Zone and ensure the time zone is set to your current location.
Go to iCal > Preferences > Advanced and ensure that time zone support is not checked
On the iOS device:
Tap settings > General > Date & Time > Time Zone -- choose the correct time zone
--- Alternatively you may have "Set Automatically" which should automatically set your time zone
Tap settings > Mail, COntacts, Calendars > Calendars > Time Zone Support and set to off
My 2 cents on that one.
