ITunes and multiple iPhones

My wife and I have iPhones. We each have our own computer accounts. Our itunes music is on a second hardrive and we both share the music and playlist. The problem we keep running into is, itunes continues to want to put the iphone apps from the 1 phone onto the other and visa versa. Is there a way to fix this?

iTunes treats each device differently.
you decide which content is synced to each by selecting it in iTunes
with each device connected to iTunes, go to the apps pane and put/remove ticks in/from the little boxes next to the apps, then initiate a sync. ticked apps will be synced, unticked apps will be removed (or not synced).
you may also want to untick the +automatically sync new apps+ option.
as for all other content, create separate playlists for each device and sync only those.

  • Please help Itunes and multiple IPhones and Playlist

    Ok,
The other day my son (11) was "cleaning up" some junk software on our main computer, which we sync 3 iphones and 2 ipods to.
Well when i opened Itunes all of our Playlist are gone, the music is all there but playlist are gone, they are still on the devices thou because we have not re-synced them all.
Because when we synced one IPhone it was not recognized as the same itunes or computer, so we have not synced anything else.
Any help would be most welcome
    MIke

Well I guess this sort of solves the problem but it now brings into question this "Family Sharing" function and authorizing up to five computers. Personally I don't understand the logic behind that. If it's my account, it should accept it in my mind. (Maybe someone is listening...) i can understand not allowing unrelated connections. I will also say, again if someone is listening, the Apple Help Files are just as bad as anyone elses.
Appreciate the reply, I can stop doing things now.....

  • How Does The Playcount Sync Across iTunes and Multiple iPhones/iPods?

Okay, this is more of a lazy question, because I don't feel like investigating myself...
So I have an iPhone with all of my music on it. I also have an iTouch with all of my music. Occasionally I will play music on my iPhone, but primarily it's only used as an iPod when I'm driving and can plug it in.
However, the iTouch is being used more and more to play music on the go.
Both have the exact same library on them. They also have three smart playlists (which yes, I know they only update when synced with iTunes, since something is goofy with the smart lists) which rely on the playcount.
I was wondering how the playcount works when synced across the iPhone to and from the iTouch and iTunes.
    Here's what I'm asking....
    I have songs A, B, C and D.
On the iTouch, I play song A 5 times.
On the iPhone, I play song B 5 times.
On BOTH, I play song C 5 times.
On my computer, I play song D 5 times.
Now, how are they all going to sync? If I plug the iTouch in first, will it show that I played song A and C 5 times, and iTunes will update song D on the iTouch, but when I plug in the iPhone, it'll show that I didn't play song A, so it'll modify the playlist? Or when I sync the iPhone, will it update song C twice, one for the iTouch, one for the iPhone, so it'll show that I played it 10 times (correct)? Or will it only see that song C was played on one device?
My main reason is that I want to know how I should expect my smart lists to function when being spread out over three devices...

Play counts are updated in iTunes when you sync the device, and should then propagate. So, for song A which was played only on the iPod Touch, after those 5 plays if you sync the iPod Touch that will change the iTunes count to 5, then if you sync the iPhone after that, song A will have a play count of 5 for the iPhone's smart playlist (since syncing the iPhone will update the smart playlist at that time).

  • Multiple iTunes and multiple iPhones......... HELP!! (with syncing, I think....)

You will have to forgive me but I am intensely frustrated at the moment and ready to grab all the technology I own and drop it off a bridge! I don't have the time nor the interest to go thru endless tutorials, and non descript help files that are anything but helpful.
Here is my problem in a nutshell. I have 3 different computers running 3 different iTunes. At least I think they are all different. Anyway, there are two primary iPhones that connect to these computers. Each has different content on the computer and phone. Two laptops (Windows 7) machines, do most of the syncing. My phone on my laptop and my daughters on my wife's / daughter's laptop. Sounds pretty straight forward I would have thought. I believe all purchases and signons are under one name and password.
We have a third, older desk top running XP. My daughter has music on both their laptop and older desk top. There seems to be a problem with attaching her iPhone to the old desk top. I can't highlight individual songs and move them to her phone. I just get a "O" with a line through it. The old do not strike through. I don't get it. I believe that home sharing is running on all three machines..... I don't know what to look at. It's driving me crazy! If anyone has a suggestion........
    Thanks,
    Neil

If you use the same Apple ID for iCloud on each device, yes. However, you can use the same Apple ID for iTunes content on each device, but different Apple ID's for iCloud, iMessage, FaceTime, etc., on each device. That way, you can have whatever iTunes content you want on each phone, but keep all of the other data separate. You can create another Apple ID here:

I have new iphone and all data were restored but my music! How can I add my music from Itunes and new iphone?

Connect the old phone to your computer, right click on it in iTunes, and choose Transfer Purchases. That should put all of your music in iTunes except any tracks that were not purchased from iTunes. If you have any such you will have to retrieve them from the original source, or see: https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3141.
Apple also has this tip for copying data from an old phone to a new one.

Is your iPhone connected to your computer using the lightning cable or are you doing WiFi sync?
Sometimes the iPhone doesn't show up in the side bar if you're using WiFi syncing, if its not working, then be connected to your WiFi on your phone and on your computer (Same network) let me know how it's going, if it doesn't work still. Turn your phone off and on again and put in your pass code then try to sync it (keep your phone unlocked and not in sleep mode) tel me if it appears in the side bar.

The first step in Upgrading... is to Snow Leopard = OS X 10.6.x
It is Not available as a download... It is a Paid Upgrade.
    Do this first...
Check that your Mac meets the System Requirements for Snow Leopard...

  • HT201263 Connection with Itunes and my Iphone 4s IOS7 is not possible.

Connection with Itunes and my Iphone 4s IOS7 is not possible.  You can see in my iphone in windows explore. But still not the new Itunes for IOS7

Here's an odd fix that worked for me.(After trying restarting AMDS and uninstalling/reinstalling iTunes* to no avail.)
I swapped my current USB cable from it's usual port to one of the front ones. That prompted iTunes to, instead of stare blankly back at me, to force up the error message indicating it recognized an iPhone in Recovery Mode.
This switches iTunes to the Restore from backup screen and gets you back on your way.
    * For anyone having trouble with files being in use when they try to manually delete the 'Common Files\Apple' folder, it works if you go into Safe Mode.

  • ITunes - syncing multiple iPhones and avoiding apps going on the wrong handsets!

    Hi all,
I work for a small telco and i sync multiple iPhone handsets daily to my iTunes on my work PC, the problem i'm having is when the customer wants there applications transferred to their new handset, I have to sync the applications to my itunes and then put in the customer Apple ID password and transfer the purchases. Then what happens is the customers go to update their applications on there handsets and it comes up with another random apple id to update the app. How can i stop this from happening???
    Please I need your Help!!!

My wife and I share almost everything...so when we purchase apps, we use the same Apple account. We have one account with AT&T with two phones. We also have one account at the apple store and charge everything to a specific credit card that has a very low monthly ceiling. This allows us to download the apps to our iphones from different computers. When I buy an app or download a free one, she logs in with our account and is eligible to download the app too. I think it is OK with Apple but have not read the fine print of the agreement.

  • ITunes with multiple iPhones

Does anyone know if it's possible to have multiple iPhones set up on a single iTunes account? If so, how do you do this? I already have an iTunes account but will have a second iPhone in the household... want to be able to share/sync music library, apps, purchased music, movies, etc. Any ideas?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    Claudia

My question is a  bit different. I have not yet been able to wean my wife off her dying Dell. While she has iTunes on it sync fails so she has not backed up her 3GS phone in ages. She has different music, pictures, and apps than I do, and we do not want to share these. So I want to sync her phone (and iPad as well) to my Macbook Pro, but keeping things separate. The responses and Apple material regarding syncing multiple phones to a single Mac talk about shared music and media libraries and do not seem to talk about apps.
I'm afraid if I try to sync her devices to my iTunes it will wipe out her apps and media. Can anyone confirm or refute this?
    Thanks

  • Itunes match has removed my playlists from itunes and my iphone. Not only that, many of the songs 'matched' on itunes do not show up on my iphone. Seriously annoyed, wish I'd never paid for it

Please read the title; itunes match has removed my playlists on itunes and iphone and the songs that are supposedly 'matched' on itunes are not showing up on my iphone.
    Any Really annoyed about this

iTunes Match does not have the ability to remove local files.
The service operates by comparing the selected iTunes Library with the iTunes Store content and 'matching' or 'uploading' - it is very straightforward a 'match' provides equivalent access to iTunes Store content as a recognised 'purchase'; upload simply copies a 256k AAC variant into the cloud.  There are no elements of this activity that can erase the local library content.
Would suggest you explore possible alternative causes of file loss.  Given the pattern described of selective deletion, leaving many Songs intact - would suggest making at least 2 secure offline Song file backups and starting the library again from a fresh install of iTunes once a thorough sweep of the system has been completed for virus.  It is also worth assessing the physical security of the system - who has access & with what privileges.
To access Songs from the cloud, you would have to manually delete the Song from the library or open an empty library - so even when accessing content, iTunes Match provides no local deletion capability.

If you are in recovery mode, you need to restore it through iTunes on your computer. There is no other way.
