ITunes (and other programs) unable to recognize the contents of my iPod classic. Help/advice?
Recently the hard drive of my macbook failed, causing me to lose all of the contents on it - including my music. It wasn't of too major concern for me considering I have my iPod and have ripped music from it to iTunes before. Alas when I attempted to do so today neither iTunes nor any other iPod transfer program (senuti, phone to mac, irip) can recognize it. The music is still on there and I can still listen to it, I just am unable to access it on my computer apparently. Is there any manual way to move the files? iTunes continues to suggest I restore my iPod, but I really don't want to lose the almost 3000 songs I have collected over the last 5 years. Any suggestions/advice would be much appreciated!
Nevermind! I rebooted my iPod and my computer recognized it! Whew!

Since all of your music came from your computer in the first place, then it should still be there and should be included in your backup copy of your computer.

You can sync as many ipods/iphones/ipads as you like to one one library. -

No music in iTunes library and it wont read the content of my iPod? Help please!
So I recently updated to iTunes 10.7 and when I did, all of the content in the iTunes library was gone! i have tried many different things to get it to work, like restoring to a previous iTunes library, but it appears that all the previous iTunes libraries were also deleted when I updated! If there is no other way to get the music back than finding the original files and putting them into iTunes, I guess that will be ok.
The second problem I am having is that when ever I try to sync my iPod it takes a very long time to load, and then it says that iTunes can't read the content of my iPod and that I should restore to the factory settings, but because there is no music or apps in my iTunes library I dont want to do that, because then I will have no way of getting all of my content back on. And I can't restore to a previous backup because it wont read it as my iPod, it just comes up as an unkown iPod. This is very frustrating and I have tried everything I can think of. Please help!Try:
- Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Try another cable and another USB port
- Reboot the computer.
- See if you can find the media by:

I am rebuilding my iTunes library, but still have all the old content on my iPod Classic. I have just download some songs from the iStore and want to add them to the iPod, BUT when I try to sync it asks if I want to delete all content from the iPod and add only the material that I have just downloaded from the Store. I do not want to lose my old content, because it is very extensive.
You are trying to sync to other than the one iTunes library you can sync to. You can copy music from multiple library/computer if you use the manual method of syncing. That method is described here

If you want to make this computer/iTunes library your syncing computer/library you have to restore the iPod on this computer/library. Restoring erases the iPod.

Here is my problem:
I'm unable to download the latest software iOS 6.0.1 to my iphone 4 because there is not enough available space. I tried to sync my iphone to itunes and it says, "itunes cannot read the contents of this iPhone. Go to the Summary tab in iPhone preferences and click Restore to restore this iPhone to factory settings."
I backed up my data to icloud to ensure everything is backed up. Is there a way to verify if data was really backed up in icloud?
What else can I do in order to free up enough space to download the newest version iOS 6.0.1? Current version on the iphone is 5.1.1 and there is only 1.6 GB of space remaining. I need 2.5 to download the software.If you really are running OS 10.4.6 you have a long way to go!

iTunes (Only when I open the iTunes Store)
Problem:
After about a minute, the program will hang and become unresponsive (pinwheel) but will not crash. I have to shutdown the program manually. The program will cause my CPU to max out until I force-quit it.
Any ideas for further diagnosis?

I just got a new computer and want my entire library on my ipod classic to be transferred to my computer. I transferred as many files as I could from my old computer through my external hard drive, but many of my cds didn't transfer. When I hook up my ipod, I see it's entire contents. My question is, does a sync only work from the computer to the ipod, or if I sync my ipod will the songs on it be synced to my computer along with all the playlists? My biggest worry is if I sync it, it will go back to the factory settings or I lose all my music. I appreciate any help.

Is there any way to have iTunes accessible and running while another program is active. When using iTunes to hear a song for reference and using another music program (such as a music publishing program) , it is very cumbersome to continually go back and forth to each program.

Problem fixing Lacie disk as storage directory for Itunes and other program

I have a Lacie disk 250 GB, it works well but i don´t know why it creates different volumes, like "Lacie Disk 1", "Lacie Disk 2", etc. Like that untill 5! The problem is that once the system creates a new volume version, i can´t find the files in the older volume version. I have a lot of information in my "Lacie Disk 4" but can´t reach it. Sorry, i didn´t explained it very well, but the problem is that I don´t understand this problem too. So, to answer you. 1) I did not partitioned my disk ; 2) When I connect it, i have just "Lacie Disk" on my finder ; 3) When I mention "volumes" the thing is that when I want to choose a directory for my downloads or Itunes, it appears on Powerbook G4/Volumes/LacieDisk. But then, I try to find it on the Finder but I can´t see that folder "volumes".
I opened Disk utility, and just to show how it appears
"Mount Point : /Volumes/LaCie Disk 5". My problem is that i don´t know why, it changed from LaCieDisk 4 to 5, and that i have information on that one which I can´t see but know it is there.

ITunes and other program links don't work

After reinstalling OS X I stumbled upon the problem that for whatever reason Safari refuses to open Links that link to installed applications. Here's an example.
When open the iTunes webpage in Safari, look at an app and click "View in iTunes", the Tab then switches to "Top Sites" and nothing more happens. Same goes for email links. Furthermore, When I try to install an extension by downloading a .safariextz file and try tp open it, Safari does the same thing.
What is happening?! And how can I fix this?

I have iTunes on an old pc and am thinking of buying a MacBook Air. I am wondering how to get the content of my iPad on to the Mac as I know that sync only happens in one direction, from pc to device. I assume therefore that when I attach my pad to the new Mac it will sync to an empty iTunes and I will have lost all the content of my pad. I know I can restore purchases, but what about contacts, calendar, photos and music not purchased from apple. I have a fairly recent backup on a pen drive but it is a usb2 device and is formatted for a pc. Any advice would be appreciated.
Do I copy my media library or from a backup. I have a backup on my pc and on an external drive. This drive is usb2 and formatted for windows so I can't connect it to a MacBook Air to make the transfer. Equally I don't think there is a way to connect the 2 computers via a cable ie usb2 one end and usb3 the other. Will the computers talk to each other via wifi if I enable home share although I think this is only for music which still leaves contacts, mail etc.

Hi, I installed iOS6 beta without registering it to the developer program. Now on iTunes and on my phone I get the same "We're unable to complete your activation" error. What do I do?
You have to restore your phone. To do this turn off your phone and disconnect it from your pc or mac. You then have to plug in the usb part of your sychronize cable into your pc or mac. Open itunes. Now press and hold on the home button on your iphone and plug the cable into it while still holding down the home button. Your iphone will now be in recovery mode and on itunes you will see the option that says restore. Click on that and your phone will be restored to factory settings. If you backed up your itunes all your apps will be downloaded back on to your phone. Including all your contacts and text messages. It took me a couple of tries to restore my phone when this happened so if it doesnt work the first time do it again. Took me two tries. I'm unable to access content on my iPod Classic while it is connected to iTunes.
The iPod itself shows up and is set to manual management, but I am unable to view or play any of the content on it (music, movies, podcasts etc.).
I can click the tabs Music, Movies etc. but I can't see anywhere to access the files themselves, no music or movies are listed, I only have the option to 'Sync' with the iTunes, which I don't want to do as there is no content on the iTunes!!!

My usb hub, being usb2, was too fast. I moved the wire to a usb port directory on my pc. That is a usb1 port which is slow enough to run your snyc.
