ITunes and Safari access problems

Running 10.3.9 with Safari 1.3.2
Suddenly I am having problems with iTunes and Safari. I can no longer access my account in iTunes, get Keychain Invalid error, I have run Keychain first aid, nothing works. Completely deleted all keychains, and still no access
I also can no longer download from Apple site, have limited access to areas on the Apple site. Certain pages from the Apple site aren't loading completely.
Certain other websites not accessible anymore, getting "couldn't establish secure connection" error message.
Seems like something changed in my security settings.
Can access from other computers in house, so not a ISP problem.
Any suggestions on what might be causing problem.

kevgil,
It is not necessary to post a duplicate topic asking the same question. If you find that you are not receiving help from someone you can always "bump" your existing topic by just replying to it. That will of course bring it to the top of the list.
Anyways, you mention "Can access from other computers in house, so not a ISP problem". It would help to know if these other computers are using 10.3.9 and Safari 1.3.2? Are these computer connected in any different manner than the affected computer that you are having the problem with.
Did you try the browser that I suggested in your previous topic (Camino 1.6.8)? Safari 1.3.2 is no longer supported and will have many problems with certain websites and their features (such as flash version etc.) Please try Camino and let us know if the problem persists. This will at least let everyone know that the problem is not with an outdated browser.

  • Why am I not able to access the app store, itunes and safari since upgrading to Mavericks 10.9?

IT tells me they would have to revert to the old OS which they don't want to do or can't do? I have been two months without access. I am at a loss. any help or guidance would be appreciated. I work for state government and our servers are PC-based which I think where the problem is. Is there a work around to gain access to the app store, itunes and safari. The app store icon indicates I have updates available but I am stuck. Please advise.

I know safari is mac's native browser. Since updating to OSX10.9, I have not been able to open safari. Firefox works fine but I preferred safari. Safari just won't open, it acts like it wants to, but the progress bar goes about half way across and stops. What other information do I need to supply?
This is a very frustrating problem when I see that there are updates to apply, but am unable to open the app store to get them. I can't even see them.
IT, in my opinion, has almost thrown in the towel since they are more PC-based.I believe it is a connection problem but they have been unable to fix it. They blame mac for a hasty upgrade release that was not fully tested to see if there were any Mac/PC connection issues.
Thanks for any help you can provide.

  • My macbook pro (2010 13inch) is really laggy when I'm using apps like iTunes and safari. the arrow on the screen seems to not respond and is laggy and when viewing videos it can be really laggy. I just want to know if it was a problem i could fix, thanks.

    You might start with:
Open Activity Monitor in the Utilities folder.  Select All Processes from the Processes dropdown menu.  Click twice on the CPU% column header to display in descending order.  If you find a process using a large amount of CPU time, then select the process and click on the Quit icon in the toolbar.  Click on the Force Quit button to kill the process.  See if that helps.  Be sure to note the name of the runaway process so you can track down the cause of the problem.
If the above reveals nothing helpful, then create a new user account. Log out of your account and log into the new account. Do the problems cease?

  • ITunes (and Safari) won't connect; Firefox fine

I'm not having any difficulty accessing the internet through Firefox, but iTunes (and Safari, for that matter) don't seem to be connected. I've tried checking the proxies for both of them and nothing appears set in the wrong way. Any ideas?
    Thanks.

Despite recent reports to the contrary, the iTunes Store is seeing record traffic and is actually experiencing connection problems. It is possible that your connection via FF is a fluke of the moment.
If this problem still continues over the next week (once the kiddies go back to school), let us know.

  • Why does iTunes and Safari reset data everytime its closed

I have a power mac G5 and after I updated to the highest software update available, I find that iTunes and Safari reset their data everytime I close them. I have checked all settings and tried resetting to regular software and trying again. Any ideas?

Could be many things, we should start with this...
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu at top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    5. Click Repair Disk, (not Repair Permissions). Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
If perchance you can't find your install Disc, at least try it from the Safe Boot part onward.

  • As of the last update for itunes and safari

Itunes and Safari , will no longer connect to the internet, I can still get updates for some of my subscriptions, the apple store will not open, Safari will not open any websites, my friend and myself are from usa, we are both in China at differnt locations, he is running XP and I running Vista

Just found this... this solution worked for me.

Aug 15, 2011 5:08 PM (in response to Blackler)
Try resetting Winsock, it looks like it worked for quite a few people in this thread -> With iTunes 10.4 I can access iTunes store.
MTG68 wrote - In windows 7, click on your start menu, go to accessories, right click on the command prompt icon and choose "run as administrator".  Once it opens, type in the following command...
    netsh winsock reset
hit enter and it should say something like winsock reset successful now reboot your computer.
If that doesn't work, try uninstalling Safari, QuickTime, and iTunes (along with related components). Then just reinstall the latest version of iTunes, without installing downloading and installing Safari or QuickTime seperately.

  • Connecting wirelessly in Itunes and Safari

Since yesterday,I cannot connect wirelessly with Safari and itunes. My router is working just fine. I did an archive install and still nothing. I tried dumping the safari and reinstalling it again, and nothing. Apple support doesn't know what's up. Firefox and netscape works. I can connect to the internet. But not with Itunes and safari. What's going on?!
    IMac G5   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

OK, I resolved this - at least on my machine.
Safari, iTunes, internet-based widgets, and software update could all not connect to the internet. In contrast, mail had no problem. Firefox also had no problem.
I tried clearing out some of the .plist files associated with the above, and this did not fix the problem.
Finally, I looked at my proxy settings (HTTP and HTTPS) and they were set to a proxy server that was associated with a place I'd been visiting. After clicking these off and restarting, everything worked just fine.

  • Cannot load and completely open iTunes and Safari

I have partioned my computer's harddrive into two sections: Snow Leopard and Mountain Lion. The Mountain Lion section is fine, but I'm having trouble with building the Snow Leopard section. I installed the Snow Leopard operating system into its designated section. That provided twenty-two icons in the dock, among them being iTunes and Safari. The problem is that clicking on either iTunes or Safri only produces an ad for them. The other twenty icons open properly and completely, but not iTunes and Safari. Apparently, I'm missing the step that opens them completely. What is it?

    Hi Niku,
Open the Applications folder, find those two Apps, double click on them, if they don't open that way do a Get Info on them & report what it says about them.
That didn't help, but before coming back here I found the "problem" with Safari and fixed it. I was hopeful that maybe iTunes had the same problem, but it didn't. I still have been unable to COMPLETELY open iTunes. By "Get Info" I presume you meant for me to Right-Click. I did, but doing that supplied no useful information.
Final word: I found the solution but then ran into a new problem, so I'll close this topic and repost with the current problem. Thanks for your help.

  • After downloading last update itunes and safari will not connect but mozilla and internet explorer does running windows vista

Itunes and safari will not connect after installing the last update, but mozilla and internet explorer does.

    Close your iTunes,
    Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
    (Win XP SP2 & above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
    netsh winsock reset
    Hit "ENTER" key
    Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes, and see if it is working now.
If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:

  • Strange issue with Apple ID in iTunes and Safari

I have a client who recently has had a very odd issue with his Apple ID.  He is unable to purchase any music from the iTunes store on his MacBook Pro running 10.9.4 and iTunes 11.3.  When he tries to purchase a song from the iTunes store, he enters in his correct apple id and password but itunes just returns right back to the login window with blank fields.  There is no error message about using an incorrect password or apple id.  When we try to log in to the Manage Apple ID page using Safari, we get the exact same thing.  No error, just goes right back to the login screen like nothing happened.  We can, however, log in to the site using another browser like Firefox or Chrome without issue.
I have done some extensive troubleshooting and isolated it to the user library since itunes and safari work fine in a test account we created.  I've tried pulling all seemingly related pref files, application support files, caches, keychain items, the safari folder, etc.  Basically if it was in the user library and had safari, apple id or itunes in the file name, I pulled it.  This didn't fix the issue.  I was able to temporarily fix the issue by pulling pretty much everything from the user library folder's application support and preferences folders.  Everything worked for a little while but then the issue returned.
Does anyone have an idea what file could be going corrupt so quickly that is causing both safari and iTunes to no longer log in with his Apple ID?
    Thanks in advance!

Sometimes resetting an Apple ID password can help >  Apple - My Apple ID
If that doesn't help, from the iTunes menu bar click Store > Sign Out
Restart the Mac, launch iTunes then sign in again.

We have an iMac 24-inch Mid 2007 with maximum of 4G bytes of SDRAM, with OX X 10.9.4 Mavericks.  It is routinely locking-up with the rainbow wheel.  Especially with iTunes and Safari.
I'm wondering it it that Mavericks simply uses more RA that the machine allows when also running application, but I don't see the RAM is being maxed out per se' when in Activity Monitor either.  I've also ran the Disk Utility and have run scans wit Sophos, looking for malware, but have found no issues.
Any ideas?  Any better Malware/Spyware applications?
