ITunes and the Finder won't recognise iOS devices but iPhoto will and will recognise my iPod classic

Good day good people,
I seem to be having a problem syncing my iOS devices to iTunes. The Finder and iTunes won't recognise any of my iOS devices (iPads - 1, 2or Mini and iPhone 4s). iPhoto will however. Finder and iTunes will recognise my iPod Classic.
I've tried this:
     http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1591?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
and I tried doing a SCM reset and a PRAM reset (I couldn't get this one to work though) as recommended on another thread which I can't seem to find again.
Note people seem to have had a similar problem with older versions of OSX - I have the latest. They reommend reinstaliling iTunes but I can't do this with more recent versions it seems.
I am confident it is something corrupt with my MacPro as I also have a MacBook Air and it recognises all the iOS devices.
One last thing  - and I'm not sure this is related - but iTunes on my MacPro doesn't seem to be syncing purchases from the iTunes store with my other devices (notably my AppleTV 2).
I have been banging my head against this one for a while - any help would be greatly approeciated.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar.
Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then try the action that you're having trouble with again. Select any messages that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard (command-C). Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.

  • My computer won't recognise my iPod Classic, even in disk mode?

I have a 160GB 6th generation iPod classic and my itunes won't recognise it. When I plug it into my laptop the laptop makes the noise as to say it has a new device connected, but it won't show up in my windows explorer or in my itunes. I have googled it and seen that I can put it into disk mode to try and fix it but when I do that the screen says OK to disconnect, and doesn't change even when I plug it into my computer. The laptop still doesn't recognise it then. I have tried different leads and the computer makes the 'recognises new device' noise with both, but it still doesn't work. The ipod doesn't say it is connected, the charging icon doesn't even come up on the battery on the screen of the ipod but I have left it plugged in and it is charging. I think it's a problem with the iPod as even when I plug it into the plug socket to charge the same thing happens, with no response from the battery icon. The screen does however light up when it's plugged in so the iPod recognises that it is plugged into a charging source, but thats just the backlight coming on and nothing else and it won't let me sync it or anything.
I can't get to an apple store for over 3 weeks as I am home for Easter and there's none near me but any help would be appreciated!!
I have restarted it multiple times, it still doesn't work.

Bump, I have this exact problem.
iPod Classic, 160GB, running the latest OS
Charges, but doesn't display charging icon (no lightning bolt in the top right). Doesn't recognize that it is plugged into the computer, and the computer doesn't recognize it (MacBook Pro, again, latest OS).
I have reset it... twice. And I've put it in disc mode - same results.
It will charge off my computer, but it won't sync, and it hasn't for about a week, so my podcasts are all out of date
    Thanks for the help!

  • My mac won't recognise my iPod classic-any ideas why or how I can fix it?

My ipod classic is quite old but still functioning properly as far as battery life etc is concerned. However I recently bought a Mac Pro and it will not recognise my ipod. Occasionally it will 'find' it but I cannot access it through itunes to edit my library. PLEASE HELP! Thanks, Courts

    Quit iTunes.
Use Disk Utility and select the drive if you can, then select Erase and the middle or security option zero all data option (will delete all data of course).
When that's finished, use iTunes to restore it.
That's how I fixed mine. Make sure it's charged up first, the Mac ports sometimes cut the power off.

  • Crossfade in iTunes and then transfer to iPod classic?

I can crossfade in itunes, but cannot seem to download the same crossfade to my ipod classic, is there a way to do this or is there a third party available.

It's like this... TFB! or TO FRACKING BAD! The iPod touch first and iOS afterwards has never supported crossfade. You have it available on the iPod nano but not the iPod touch. They should rename the iPod touch to iPad micro or something. This is something that has been needed to be addressed for a long time now. I know, let's blame it on Scott Forstall!

  • BSOD when using Itunes And/Or when connecting IPOD classic

I have started getting a blue screen of death (BSOD)when opening Itunes followed by opening Iexplorer after a computer restart. I also get the same error when connecting the Ipod 80gb classic, it may take 3 or 4 attempts to get the Ipod conencted, initial recognition but then "ok to disconnect" within 10 seconds.
    Error code is 1000007e, parameter1 c0000005, parameter2 804e83e8, parameter3 f7938a68, parameter4 f7938764. with no driver of sys file identified.
Currently driving (no pun intended) me crazy. I have updated all drivers I can think of, uninstalled and reinstalled Itunes and Apple Ipod device drivers with no solution.
    Thanks
    Ken

  • ITunes on new computer won't recognise my iPod and won't sync it

I've used an external hard drive to move my iTunes from my old computer to my new Windows laptop following the instructions on the Apple website. I authorised the computer as it asked. When I try to connect my iPod to the new computer to sync my iTunes again I get this message
"This computer is no longer authorised to play purchased items that are on the iPod "XXXX XXXX". Would you like to authorise this computer for items purchased from iTunes store? I you do not authorise this computer 222 items will be removed from this iPod."
I press authorise and it says that 2 computers are now authorised to use this iTunes library. But once I press Ok the same message comes up again that I haven't authorised it.
I haven't got a clue why this has happened I'm no tech-head and I'm getting really frustrated! Any help would be much appreciated!

It should be working fine. Perhaps your cable has gone bad or the USB port has waffled. Hard to say without trying a few different things.

  • I can't sync my iPhone5 to iTunes.  The tutorial said to click on devices, but I don't see it anywhere on my computer screen.  HELP!

I am trying to sync my iPhone 5 to iTunes in order to download some new tones.  I did this back in December and didn't have any trouble.  Now I can't seem to do it.  The tutorial says to click ITunes open and then click on devices.  I don't see devices anywhere on my computer.  I do have my phone physically plugged into the computer, so I don't know why it isn't showing devices or the option of "Sync Now".  What am I doing wrong?  It's probably something very simple I'm overlooking.

It is referring to under devices in the iTunes source list, not on your desktop.

  • My computer won't recognize my Iphone but it will recognize my Ipod

I just got a new Iphone 4 and when I try and plug it into my computer nothing happens. No charging, no sound, nothing. It won't even show it being downloaded into the computer as a USB device! But when I put in my ipod it will recognize it and it will work just fine! I can't be the USB or Iphone because if I plug it up to any other computer it's just fine and works how it's suppose to.

I'm having the same issues with my brand new iphone 5.

Try and force iPod into Recovery Mode:
    1. Turn off iPad
    2. Connect USB cable to computer; leave the other end alone
    3. Press and hold the Home button down and connect the docking end of cable to iPad
    4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect To iTune" screen
    5. Release the Home button
    6. Open iTune
    7. You should see "iTunes has detected an iPad in recovery mode"
    8. Use iTune to restore iPod
Note: You need to be patient and repeat the above many times to recover your iPad

  • Where is iTunes Match content stored on apple TV? I recently joined itunes match and it is working on my ios devices, but I can't find my music on Apple TV

Where is iTunes Match content stored on apple TV? I recently joined itunes match and it is working on my ios devices, but I can't find my uploaded music on Apple TV

It isn't actually stored anywhere, it needs to be downloaded from the internet before any content can be played.
iTunes Match content is accessed through the 'Music' icon on the main screen though, it needs turning on though in settings first.

2 Some movies may not be available from iTunes in the Cloud. These movies, if purchased in HD, will download both the HD and SD versions for you to sync to your compatible iPod and iOS devices. Previous purchases may be unavailable if they have been refunded or are no longer available in the iTunes Store, App Store, or iBookstore.

Do you have a question ? Not all content is available for re-downloading e.g. if the content provider (or Apple) removes them from the store, and there are also some film studios (in countries where film re-downlaoding is possible) who haven't agreed to allow their films to be re-downloaded.
    Otherwise, re-downloading : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519

  • Movie I bought from iTunes on the computer won't play?

I just bought Stand By Me on iTunes for $9.99 on my Windows 7 computer, and it said error downloading... The movie will only play until about 17 minutes into it and then stop. It won't let me go forward past that. Now it won't even let me watch it! Every time I open iTunes it automatically says the movie is ready to watch, when I click watch it, it pops up saying "There was a problem downloading Stand By Me. An unknown error occurred (-50)." What do I do???

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Delete and redownlod the music
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
