ITunes and Vista Service Pack1

Service Pack1 for Vista was downloaded this morning. Cannot get itunes to recognize my iPod. Receive error message "Cannot connect ti Itunes error (0xE8000001). Any suggestions

I also installed SP1 this morning. My 1st Gen iPod nano is recognized just fine, but iTunes isn't playing audio. I select a file from my library, click the Play button, it changes to the Pause button, but the file doesn't play. The progress indicator never moves.
I've tried various files, both M4P and MP3 formats. Same result.
MP3s play in WMP just fine.

  • Itunes and vista error message

I just purchased a new computer with vista and now my ipod/itunes won't work. i have upgraded to the itunes 7.1 (i think) and at first- my itunes synced with my ipod nano, and now it won't...error message (-50) An unknown error occured. And then it says: The disk could not be read from or written to. Why? I purchased more songs from itunes and I can't get them on my ipod...any ideas?

iTunes not working in Vista is a bunch of bull...I personally rag on Apple for not releasing a "comaptible" (I put that in quotes because it really does work...I'll explain in a moment) version of iTunes upon release of Vista...considering that many Apple customers run Windows...
Anyway, I bought my laptop in November before Vista even launched...I had an Express Upgrade to Vista...the trick to getting iTunes to work on Vista is a clean install of Vista onto the hard drive. When I clean installed my copy of Vista, iTunes was the first program I installed onto my computer. The results were interesting:
    1. Aero does work with both iTunes and Quicktime. The actual iTunes and Quicktime program themselves don't utilize the Aero interface, but Aero doesn't turn off for the rest of the computer.
    2. iTunes is fully compatible with Vista. All my songs play and my iPod updates just fine.
    3. Purchased music does play in Vista. All my movies, TV shows, and music I bought from iTunes play after iTunes prompts me to authorize my computer...somehow iTunes even knew that I removed my old copy of XP and it must've deauthorized my iTunes from XP because authorizing iTunes in Vista didn't take up an extra authorization of my allowed five.
To do a clean install of Vista follow the directions from this web site. You MUST HAVE A COPY OF YOUR VISTA OPERATING SYSTEM CD WITH THE PRODUCT KEY AND YOUR COMPUTER'S DRIVERS THAT CAME WITH YOUR SYSTEM!!! These are important in case Vista isn't able to use some hardware on your computer upon install, but Vista now has most drivers already installed...when I installed Vista on my Dell the only driver I had to download from Dell's web site was for my Bluetooth device.

  • Adobe Photoshop CS4 Full Version and VISTA Service Pack 2

I have brought CS4 Full and recall seeing VISTA Service Pack 1 as requirement.  I keep getting prompted by my computer to download and install Service Pack 2.  What to do:
    1.  Install Photoshop on current setup (SP 1) and then upgrade to SP 2
    2.  Install SP 2 and then load Photoshop
    Thanks for any insight.

SP2 is very stable, uses less ram, and also less hard drive space. If you have not installed CS4 yet just do the SP2 update then CS4. Don't forget to update CS4 to 11.0.1.
Also either way you want to install works. I installed SP2 with PS CS4 on the system and there were no problems running CS4 afterwards.

  • ITunes and Bonjour services

    Hello All
    iPod Touch 3rd Gen v 4.2.1
Desktop Windows 7 Prof 32 bit
This morning I updated my iTunes to v 10.5.3.3. Then I tried to sync between an app on my iDevice and a desktop component on my Windows Desktop. Before the update of iTunes everything synced correctly....after the update I could not sync with my desktop. The app's Support advised that I should uninstall Bonjour services from my desktop and reinstall. The Bonjour on my desktop is v 3.0.0.10 (updated by Apple when iTunes updated) and the new download to install would be v 2.0.2  The app's Support believes that this version of Bonjour is conflicting with their desktop sync conduit.
What will happen to iTunes and/or syncing my iDevice with iTunes by installing the lower version of Bonjour?
    Thanks

Does your ASUS also have an ethernet NIC card?
By looking at the Bonjour service, the dependency tab shows Bonjour is dependent on TPCIP. And therefore, the brand of NIC card installed with its drivers or firmware.
I was thinking along those lines...several folks are having this problem and I wondered if it was a certain brand or release of NIC card. I'm sure Apple did not test every NIC card on the market. They'd never get anything released.

  • Itunes and Vista, loosing songs

I recently upgraded my pc to Vista Buisness (through my uni)
I installed itunes and had kept the *my music* file from XP so it found all my music again automatically.
Althrough i have been seeing that many music files in itunes have been going missing, and not just a few files, entire albums have gone missing!
i get that little "!" next to them and when i search for them i cant find them anywhere on my computer,
can anyone help? i have already lost about 5 albums so far and it keeps growing
    cheers
    Dingo

What's missing are the specific details. I have no idea if this is on an external drive or where.  Why do you keep on consolidating items?  I can only guess you are doing something non-standard with using iTunes.  I have had my iTunes library since before iTunes was iTunes (it was Soundjam) and I have lost almost no files.
If you keep media on an external drive you need to make sure the drive is on and fully mounted before starting iTunes.
Generally you can redownload past purchases.  You need to delete the entry completely from iTunes first or iTunes will think it is still on a drive somewhere.

  • ITunes and Vista RTM

Ever since I installed ITunes 7.02, I have been unable to sync my iPods with any of my Vista PCs. On different machines I was running RC1, RC2, and even build 5780 which was post RC2. Today I installed the final release version and still can't get the PCs to talk to my iPods correctly. Either iTunes does not see them at all (Windows does) OR if they are visible in iTunes you get all kinds of random errors when trying to sync.
Are others having this problem? Are there any known workarounds? I tried Vista compatibility mode but it did not work either. Vista has been around long enough you would think Apple would have this working by now.

    For what it is worth, I second that;
Vista's "final release" does NOT work with 7.02...
In fact it will reboot your machine randomly without warning and Vista will not "catch" the problem...(no blue screen etc - just instant reboot/bios screen).

  • ITunes and Vista don't accept input for AppleID

Windows Vista and iTunes 8.0.35 (and iPhone 3g) freezes when I try to login or to validate my computer. Can't buy anything from iTunes Store, neither validate any software installed on iPhone. iTunes opens a login window (apple ID and password) but makes only a beep when i try to make anything on that window. The only way to exit the freeze is to terminate iTunes.
    Any workaround?
    TIA
    Franco

You can view your account's full purchase history via your computer's iTunes e.g. by logging into it via the Store > View Account menu option, or on the current version of iTunes by clicking on your name towards the top right of iTunes and then clicking 'account info' on the popup : See your purchase history in the iTunes Store - Apple Support
On your phone you can view the last 90 days purchases, and optionally contact iTunes Support if you have a problem with a purchase via http://reportaproblem.apple.com

  • From Bad to Worse to Unusable the iTunes and Vista story

I have been trying to run iTunes on Vista for about 6 months.
First with some effort it ran and worked.
Then the "update" came.......had to re-install iTunes to get it working again
Then the "update" came.......could listen to music, but not rip any longer
    Then the "update" came.......7.6.2.9
Now all I get is this lovely box saying "iTunes cannot run because it has detected a problem with your audio configuration"
I have uninstalled and re-installed for the entire day in all combinations.
So I am looking for some one with ideas.....I am holding off my kids and their 3 iPods and haven't even considered telling my wife she can't update her music
Are not "updates" suppose to resolve usability issues????? Maybe I am just confused.

Also are you running Norton 360 or some other security software? Try turning that off next time you install/upgrade iTunes. And make sure to run the install from your hard drive, not over the internet.

  • Videos Won't Play in iTunes Under Vista Service Pack 1

While my audio podcasts play fine since installing Vista SP1, the videos do not! I get a badly flickering picture and sound and the control symbols (e.g., the x to close the video) do not show up. Full screen causes Windows to deliver a message that the Nvidia display driver has crashed and been restarted.
I redownloaded and reinstalled iTunes but it failed to fix the problem. The m4v's for these podcasts play perfectly in QuickTime.

There are several you can download at:
    http://www.legacychurchsc.org/media/video/
These are also posted under iTunes at:

I just upgraded my 10.5 iSight G5 iMac to iTunes 9.1.1 and the following behaviors occured:
    1) The video would not stream properly: you can hear the audio, but the video does not show up (just a greayed out video box).
    2) On a version of the video in my iTunes "Movies" tab, the chapter markers are 'one off'; they jump to the position of the next marker. This does not happen if I open the local movie in Quicktime Player (7.6.6).
These videos were composed in iMovie HD 6.0.4 (I know, I need iMovie '09). Exported for iPod. (I don't think this has much to do with it, myself since iTunes 9.1 had no problems with this type of file).

  • Audible, iTunes and Vista 64bit

Hi everyone, I'm moving to a new computer tomorrow that has Vista 64bit on it. I know that iTunes is now compatible, but I have a lot of audiobooks from Audible and to listen to them I know I'll have to authorise my new computer. I've had a look through the help pages on audible's site and it says that there is a problem with iTunes that stops you from authorising your computer on a 64 bit vista machine: http://audible-uk.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/aid/3666/kw/vista%2064/rid/166
The thing is, some of the info on audible's website can be quite old so I'm not sure if this problem has been addressed yet or not. Has anyone managed to authorise a 64bit vista system for audible content? If not, can anyone think of any work arounds? (other than keeping the old computer around until the problem is fixed!)
    Cheers
    Nicola

I had Vista 64 and now Windows 7 64 and no issues--and there is a 64 bit version of iTunes too. All works well.

  • ITunes and Vista- No Luck

I just installed iTunes 7.1.1 and when I launch iTunes I get the following error:
The folder "iTunes" cannot be found or created, and is required. The default location for this folder is inside the "My Music" folder.
Please help as i would love to get iTunes on my Vista PC.

  • ITunes and Vista compatability

I've just switched to Vista on a Vista-ready laptop. iTunes won't load and I get a message that I need to "repair" iTunes. For whatever reason, I can't seem to "repair" iTunes (probably because it isn't "broken"). Any ideas about what might be wrong and how to make these two work nicely together?

  • The answer to iTunes and Vista issues...

After waiting for weeks for Apple to listen to all the posts about Vista and iTunes issues, I decided I could not wait any longer. I went out and bought Anapod Explorer which syncs music, video and photos effortlessly with Vista. This proves onc and for all that the iTunes issues with Vista are indeed iTunes issues, and Apple should feel ashamed that they are not supporting the vast majority of iPod owners out there who use Windows not Mac.
In the end, it's Apple's loss as now I do not use iTunes at all so will never be able to use the iTunes store. All Windows users should vote with their feet and stop using iTunes until Apple respects them a little more and works quickly to fix issues with Vista support.
If a small company like Red Chair Software can develop a product that works so well with Vista, how come Apple can't? I recommend Anapod 200% and at $30 it is a bargain.

Yay! This works and thanks for the suggestion to use the backed-up .itl library.
The only glitch I got after it finally launched is that iTunes said my computer was not authorized to play tunes. I had to use my last 5 of 5 authorizations. I only have 3 computers, but I've had this glitch before. Hope I never get it again.
Thanks to the forum, and uh... no thanks to Apple!

  • ITunes and Vista Windows on new computer

I just bought a new computer which has Vista installed - my old computer (Windows XP) had my ITunes on it. I have been trying to install ITunes on this Vista (Home Premium) computer and it will not install, I get this message when I try to install it.
ITunes could note be installed because Visual Basic Script (VBScript) is not installed or has been disabled. Make sure VBScript is installed, turn off script blocking in anti-virus and personal firewall software, re-register VBScript, and then install ITunes.
I have no idea what this means or how to fix whatever it is, can someone help me or tell me of a website I can find to help fix this problem.
    Thanks for any info
    Darlene

Lots of problems with Vista installs. Eventually Apple will update iTunes to install/run better on Vista. Nobody knows when.
