Itunes and win xp pro 64
I am wondering if itunes is not compatible xp 64 bit os sp2, causing an error message warning about improper install, and update failure. I am using 7.4.3.1 itunes. Does Apple have plans to support 64 bit os's ?
Thanks Wes
El Sheepo,
I've seen your October post pointed to about 100 times on these forums but no one ever comes back and says if your instructions work or not. I have on problem with them. I am the sole user of this PC and am always logged on as the administrator. I do not have an administrator pw setup and would prefer not to since I'll have to enter it everytime I reboot. When I follow your instructions and select to run your commands as administrator, xp asks me for a pw and will not execute correctly without it. I'm using XP 64 Pro sp2. Any ideas?

Tried to install iTunes with Win 7 Pro and I get an error 2 message that tells me to uninstall iTunes and reinstall, same error occurs. What's up?
Hello, rodneywjr.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.

ITunes on Win 7 Pro won't recognise iPhone
iPhone 4 S is 12 months old next month.
OS is 7.0.2
iTunes vers is: 11.1.0.126
Computer OS is Win 7 Pro (anti virus is Microsoft Essentials, Firewall is ZoneAlarm)
I have manged to connect the phone to iTunes ... so there is a backup. However, that was a while ago and it's pot luck.
Even when I did connect it required several plugging and unplugging to get a connection.
NB - the computer is recognising the iPhone as I can d/load pictures from Photos and charge via the computer.
(As a clue: wall charge also requires often 6 plug in and out before it connects and begins charging so I use the computer mostly).
I've been through the list provided by Apple Help.
Also I remove Apple from devices so that it installs afresh.
And I have Stopped and Restarted Apple Mobile Device.
I have tried with firewall off (but when it did connect ages ago same firewall was on)
Unable to turn off MSE and really ought not have to uninstall.
So ... if you are into a techie challenge please take on my case.
No offence intended but not interested in amateur good ideas like "try another usb port" (have tried main and subsidiary port)....
I'm franly disappointed, frustrated and tired of the process but remain open to expert input.
thx for reading this post and should you offer expert advice then in advance may I thank you.
best wishes,Never mind answering this question. I was able to figure out a way to fix the problem on my own. All I needed to do was install the Itunes update by itself and then I was able to open Itunes with no trouble.

Running Dual boot windows 8 and win 7 pro with xp mode installed!! I love it!!
It took over 2 days to figure out how to adjust the bios to get my win 7 pro DVD to boot and install dual boot on this GREAT MACHINE!!
Step 1: using diskmgmt.msc you have to shring the C partition. I shrunk it so I had 80GB remaining as unallocated space.
Step 2: You have to enter the machine Bios adn set the BIOS to Both and UEFI as first
Step 3: Connect your usb dvd
Step 4: Put your win 7 pro dvd in the usb dvd drive
Step 5: Reboot your machine and when it starts press F12 to get the boot menu and select the usb dvd drive then press enter
The machine restarts
Message on screen says press a key to boot from cd/dvd
Press space and it boots up the win 7 pro DVD
After files copy and load the setup screen asks to accept the agreement and where to install win 7
BE SURE TO SELECT THE 80GB location
Then follow thru the win 7 prompts to load it.
When the machine restarts you will see a dual boot screen with Windows 7 on top as first selection and Windows 8 below it as 2nd selection.
Make sure to hit enter with windows 7 selected
The win 7 installation completes.
You will see many items with drivers not installed dont fret.
You can load most of the drivers by highlighting the device in control panel/device manager and pick update driver then select BROWSE for DRIVER and be sure to put in drive D:\ which is now the windows 8 drive and hit search.
Many of the windows 8 drivers installed with no issue.
The Realtek driver was an exception .. goto to the lenovo site and pick the x100e tablet and download the LAN driver from there about (4MB). Copy it to flash drive and install it in win 7 from the .exe file. The driver for LAN will install sucessfully. The version of the driver is 7.46 something the 7.11 versions do not workl.
I have only 3 drivers that I could not find - 2 list as unknown and are related to ACPI or power management and 1 lists as USB controller but all the USB stuff works without it.
Be sure to either shutdown the system or sign out of win 8 when your done so you get the dual boot menu. If you shutdown while logged into win 8 the next time you start up it will go right to win 8 until you signout and restart.
Just to let you know an easy way to shutdown is go to the desktop and press ALT + FN + F4 and a shutdown menu comes up on the desktop.
Once win 7 pro is installed you can download the XP mode free from Microsoft and install it.
This is of course AFTER you have ACTIVATED WINDOWS 7 ONLINE with YOUR ACTIVATION KEY(you supply).
ENJOY! This is the BEST machine I ever had! It's been many, many years since I don't do dual boot anymore. Don't find the reason to do it, either. Different kinds of virtualization should be enough. Anyway...

Problem with Itunes and new Macbook Pro
I just purchased a Macbook Pro, my first Apple computer ever though I have other Apple products (iPad, iPod, iPhone). All of my iTunes music and playlists are on my Dell PC at work. My hope is to transfer my music to my new Mac (at home) so that I have more room for actual work items on my computer at the office.
I had no trouble transferring the songs (via my iPod) the songs are there but the playlists are not listed on my new computer (the Mac). Is Mac compatible with making playlists in iTunes and if so how can I get those lists back other than paistakingly creating all 45 play lists one by one again?
Thank you in advance for your help.Do you have an external hard drive? If you do, connect the drive to the PC. Copy the iTunes Folder and all the media and various library files it contains from the PC to the drive. Connect the drive to the Mac. Copy the folder and replace the folder on the Mac in your Home > Music with the one from the PC. Start iTunes and it will now be pretty much identical to the one that was on the PC. Caution: If you have put things on the Mac that were not on the PC then you will need to change the process a bit.

Problems connecting - 9i and Win XP Pro
First off, I am a super duper beginner so I understand nothing of this application. I have Win XP Pro and have learned that 8i has issues with P4's so downloaded 9i instead of using the 8i CD I have. I also have the CD for Forms and Reports 6i also. My reason for the installation is a database programming class I am taking. At the current time I have 9i installed and I also installed 6i though am unsure if 9i will work with 6i. I tried to connect to SQL Plus using the username, pw, and hostname my professor gave me and I got an error msg saying "ORA-12541 TNS:no listener" BUT when I check the listener control thing and tell it to start the listener I get an error because it says it has already started and if i stop it and then start it again I still get the same message. I am able to log on to SQL using the generic username and password "Scott" and "tiger" with no hostname but I am unsure if this means anything as I know my info is correct. I am wondering if anyone can help me out. I no nothing about this application to be able to troubleshoot further and also am wondering if 9i will work with 6i. Thanks for reading this far and thanks in advance for any assistance. I think I have installed this app 3 times now and would love to get it all working properly so I can do my assignments....
Jo-AnneThanks for the reply. He gave us each our own usernames, our own passwords and the hostname to connect to the school. The school dns or ip address, either one, is not his it is the school's oracle server. I used my username and password and it gave me the listener error. In order for me to work from home I have to connect to the school's oracle server, i can't leave it blank. Does that make sense? Thanks again.

Copy iTunes from win 7 pro to new Mac Pro?
Have all my work on my iPhone 5s. Do nothing but manually syncing on lates iTunes. What to copy iTunes to new Mac Pro so I can use my iPhone on either computer.
Laptop at work and desktop at home.
All store bought music on C drive in iTunes as it should be along with books etc. but about 8 gbs of my ripped music some mp3 some ACC all at 320 is on my internal drive.
First thought is change iTunes setting to CONSOLIDATE hoping D drive music will go into iTunes properly.
While I searched KB I came up flat. I like a clean organized computer. While I know windows vert well I am new to Mac pros (but not iPhones nor iOS 7)..
Any way I can do this cleanly. I can put a full backup of iTunes onto a USB hard drive I use for 3rd back up off pictures and iTunes
Thank youdoes anyone know how this can be done please?

ITunes and Final Cut Pro 4.5
Everything was fine: OS 10.3.9. G5, Dual Processor. Final Cut Pro 4.5
Updated both iTunes and QuickTime. Trouble! Longer clips wouldn't capture, batch or any method.
So, I go back to QuickTime 6.5.2. That fixes the problem with capturing video clips.
But now, when I try to import my music library CD, I can't. I can do it through iTunes, import into Final Cut, but when I attempt to place it into the Timeline, it shows me 3 tracks...and the red line, as if they were needing to be rendered.
When I play, I get the "beep, beep, beep."
I am bringing them as AIFF files.
Any help? You can use QuickTime to convert the CD's audio tracks (AIF, 44.1khz, 16 bit) into AIF, 48khz, 16 bit.
If you want to use iTunes for this, set the correct audio sampling rate (48khz) in iTunes' preferences.

Self Service Purchasing 5 and Win XP Pro
Hi,
Just like to ask, can SSP5 run on WIN XP Pro?
Cheers
JerryYOu don't need to use the get connected wizard everytime you connect, only once, after the first connection you are automatically connected when you connect the cable.
(in fact, you really don't need to use the get connected wizard with cable even in the first connection, because windows will pick up the phone via the cable and install the necessary drivers anyhow, the wizard is there just to help first time users to find the way how to handle the connection.
(just a note, with Bluetooth you need to make the connection between phone and PC Suite once with get Connected Wizard, but not after that even with Bluetooth)
Anyways, if you have a uncertain outcome each time you connect you:
- most likely have a non-Nokia cable that is bad quality, there are plenty to duff cable out there "in ebays"
- or the mechanical connection between the phone and cable is uncertain -
J2sdkee1.3.1 and win xp pro
does j2ee1.3.1 work on win xp pro? the setup doc seemed a little weak. does anyone have a detailed setup/install doc they would like to share? may be something with some screen shots so i can tell if i have everything running correctly.

I don't recall any difficulty at all in installing it- it's essentially an automatic install. The caveat, on the download page above, is to use it with J2SE v1.3.1_02 or v1.4. -
IPod, iTunes, and Windows XP Pro SP2
I recently upgraded my computer from running Windows XP Pro (no service packs installed) to running Windows XP Pro SP1a, and now SP2.
While running SP1a, I connected my iPod (5th Generation video, 30GB model) to my computer, but it didn't appear in My Computer, nor iTunes. It was recognized by Windows, as noted by the "Safely Remove Hardware" option, as well as my normal "
"HI-SPEED in non-HI-SPEED" warning (my computer is running USB 1.1). I've also tried all four ports, and all four gave me the same response.
I tried connecting it again once I installed SP2, and again, same problems arose. I began trying to troubleshoot it by doing the Right Click on My Computer -> Manage -> Start/Stop iPod Service thing, uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes, repairing iTunes, using the CD I got with my iPod... nothing worked, and it's still only be recognized but basically unusuable.
The iPod displays the "Do Not Disconnect" message, and shows signs of being charged, so I know it can't be anything wrong with the connection. I've also connected it to my school laptop (running XP Pro SP2, USB 2.0 connection) and it worked perfectly fine, showed up in My Computer and everything.
I've even run iTunes, gone to Help menu -> Run Diagnostics -> iPod Diagnostics, and 3 of the 4 "lights" are green; the last one, "iPod Connection Status" is red. And that, of course, tells me nothing about why my iPod won't be recognized otherwise.
I've come to the conclusion that, under SP2, you can't use USB 1.1 but that makes absolutely no sense at all... could anyone help me out and give me any ideas as to whether or not that is true, or else what might be causing the problem?
Thanks so much in advance!Just tossing in my experience quickly:
Ever since I "upgraded" to v7 of iTunes, my iPod (60G w/Video) hasn't been recognized, same as Rebecca. Also my TransFlash memory cards aren't recognized, either. I went through many steps listed in these forums, to no avail; I even did a repair install of Windows. I have noticed in my Device Manager the following: a yellow exclamation point beside "parport" and "serial". (Right-click "My Computer" > Properties > Hardware > Device Manager > View > Show Hidden Devices) For both of these entries, under their properties, it says this: "This device is not present, is not working properly, or does not have all its drivers installed. (Code 24)" I haven't found much info surfing the net as of yet... I hope this info helps a bit. Don't mean to hijack, here, either. But in my opinion the new iTunes upgrade corrupts the windows registry somehow, as this story of mine seems to be quite prevalent... -
Itunes 9 Win XP Pro XP2 x64 Ipod issue
I followed the installation guide for Itunes 9 under windows xp pro sp2 x64 bit. When I connect my ipod it seems normal but when I open Itunes I get an error message "The Software Required for communicating with the Ipod is not installed correctly. Please reinstall Itunes to reinstall the Ipod software. I also receive a wierd windows startup error message if I leave the Ipod connected when the computer is restarting I received a messing stating "Unknown wireless device connected please remove and restart" or something like that keep in mind this is only an Ipod 160gb video not an Iphone.
I have HP DV2, 4GB ram, AMD Turion X2 Neo 1.6hz, Mobile broadband un2400, Bluetooth 2.0 EDR, Wireless N, etc.
Itunes is 9.0.1.8
I was switching between two different guides to help out. I did the exact way it said on this forum though. Any help or suggestions?
BTW my device manager shows my Ipod only under disc drivers, driver shows says microsoft driver date 10/1/2002 driver version 5.2.3790.1830If you installed the 32 bit version of iTunes, which is all you can do without hacking, you will not get the 64 bit drivers for burning or the iPhone.
You can download the 64 bit drivers for burning from the Gear site, but you are out of luck with the iPhone.
If you hacked the iTunes installer to allow installation of the 64 bit version, I have no experience of that and can't help.

After updating iTunes and rebooting MacBook Pro does not reboot.
So after installing the update of the new iTunes the system needed to reboot. Screen remains black, battery is full and even with connection to the power network. When pressing the power button you hear the system starts working but stops after unpressing the power button. Also no sound of any HDD or other lights start working (apart from the green power light on the battery at the back / power network) Also the small white light next to the screen opener just goes on for 3 seconds or something. My MacBook Pro is from October 2008 and had further all available updates and 4GB of RAM. Anyone a solution?

I want to use a song I bought from the itunes Music store as a soundtrack for a movie I am cutting on Final Cut Pro. I normally convert the song to AIFF format and then import it into FCP. This does not work with purchased music as it is protected. Can anyone tell me how I get round this...please.
Afaik the only workaround is to burn protected music on
b Audio CD
and then re-import it in whatever format you want.

Itunes 7 - win xp pro will not install "iTunes needs quicktime" error
iTunes 7 will not complete the install - it says the old version of iTunes could not be uninstalled and then says "iTunes needs quicktime". I tried installing quicktime alone and it also won't install saying it cannot remove the old version. Tried a manual uninstall and I get the same error.
A tip posted by b noir on the following link solved my problem. I just downloaded "Windows Installer CleanUp Utility" from Microsoft, removed my existing version of Qiucktime. Restarted my computer then started fresh with Itune 7 installation. No more problems.
