ITunes App icon displays incorrect number of updates

Am currently running iTunes 11.03 but this issue has been around for several months. The App icon in iTunes indicates there are 38 updates available. After downloading them and syncing with my iPhone 3GS, the icon contiues to indicate 38 updates being available. Is there a way to reset the update counter?

When the export conversion completed, the correct number of songs was displayed on both libraries. Thank You.

ITunes app icon counter says I have updates and number continues to grow, but no updates show up to be updated.  Have done soft re-boot.  Still no updates to update.  Recommendations?  iPad mini with IOS 6.1.3.

There are a lot of other threads from people reporting a problem with a blank Updates tab in the App Store app - it looks like there is a problem at Apple's end which they need to fix.
Some posts are suggesting that you if you go into the Purchased tab in the App Store app you might be able to update the apps from there, though you will need to scroll through the list (potentially going through the A to Z list on the left-hand side of the screen, and similarly tapping the 'iPad Apps' button at the top left of the screen and selecting 'iPhone Apps') to find those with updates and individually update them.

Go to iTunes, click on Apps in the left window, to bring up your app library. Then click on "check for updates" in the right window, bottom corner. If there are any updates available, you'll be notified of the number and you'll have to choose the apps you want to update in the next screen shown, or update them all at once after filling in your password.
You can also click on one app in the library and choose "get info" to see the actual version saved in your library.

Not it. Thanks. I tried it, so thanks for the tip, but I get the same error message. That I need to authorize this computer to get the purchases. I guess it's not really an error message. But It will not let me proceed any further. Once again I have deauthorized and this is the only computer that is authorized for this account.
    Then
    Then and last
    Pretty annoying. Any ideas?

I've been having the same problem for days and just solved it. Tried going to Apple ID and had all the same problems you did in the second paragraph. I signed out with my current username on the ipad under settings--->store and signed back in with my oldest apple id and password. Now the apps don't ask for a password to upgrade. I too had a username that wasn't an email address and had to change to one that was at some point. That's what caused the problems. Hope this can work for you.

  • On my ipad 2 the app icon has a number 1 on it, how do I get rid of it?

On my ipad the settings app is marked as number 1. What does this mean?

it means once of your apps has an update. so tap on the app store icon, update the app, and it will go away.

  • App Store shows wrong number of updates

Every time I open the App Store on my iPhone 6 it shows 20 updates available. I touch the "updates" button, and all the updates disappear. Next time I come back it will do the same. Updated to 8.0.2 but no joy.  What's up with this?

Turned out that the problem was that my old iPhone 4 was still registered with the same iTunes account. Once I went to appleid.apple.com and deauthorized the 4, I started to get the correct number of updates in the iPhone 6 App Store.

  • Fixing Permissions (iTunes.app) in OS 10.8.5 Update - HELP FIX?

I recently updated from OS 10.8.4 to OS 10.8.5 .... and although the update went fine, I have seen an issue with the "Apple Disc Utility" that raises concerns for me.
Everytime I have run the "permissions" repair, I have seen a "TON" of repair lines for the "Applications > iTunes.app > Contents . Resources > files.
The list must have been a hundred lines or more ...
(Actually were too many to screen grab, so here are a few I see):
Any idea why these "iTunes" permissions keep poping up to be fixed .... and then once fixed or repaired, just keep popping up again to need "permissions" repair again in the "Apple Disc Utility"?
Also, the first repair "permissions line I see is always:
    > Warning: SUID file "System/Library/CoreServices/RemoteManagement/ARDAgent.app/Contents/MacOS/ARDAg ent" has been modified abd WILL NOT BE REPAIRED
Any idea as to what this is refering too as well.
I never had any problem repairing "permissions" before this OS 10.8.5 update .... and certainly not to the enormous length that the "permissions" repair liting shows. It's a huge list of over 100 iTunes permissions that need "permissions" repaired.
Any help will be appreciated ....

This is what I keep running into when trying to delete (or install new) the iTunes app from/to my HD Applications folder:
I have been having Apple "permission" repair issues with the newer OS10.8.5 update, and want to re-install my previous iTunes version (v11.0.4 or 11.0.5). When I try to remove the existing 11.1.4 version (that has the permission repair issues), I am not allowed to simply place the 11.1.4 app in the trash and delete, as I get the following pop-up window:
When I also try to launch the iTunes 11.0.5 installer package, I then get this:
How do I get around these issues and delete my iTunes 11.1.4, so I can then install the previous iTunes 11.0.4 or 11.0.5.

  • Safely displaying the number of updates

I like my status bar in dwm displaying the number of pacman updates available. Its a nice constant reminder bugging me to update my system every once in a while.
At first, I simply had something like this in my status bar script "dwm-status":
sudo pacman -Qu | wc -l
This always displayed 0 updates because I was not syncing my local database.  So I added something like this to .xinitrc:
    sudo pacman -Sy
This did not work because sudo required a password, so I added something like this to my sudoers file:
    %wheel NOPASSWD: /bin/pacman
Staying logged into X11, this was useless, so I made it a daily cron job, which is my current solution.
I'm worried about this being unsafe as described in here: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=89328
This thread: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=89484 discusses this topic a bit, and provides an ugly solution.  something like this:
    dir=/tmp/somedir
    if [ ! -d ${dir}]
    makedir ${dir}
    sudo pacman -Sy --dbpath
    ln -s /var/lib/pacman/local /tmp/somedir
sudo pacman -Qu --dbpath /tmp/somedir | wc -l
    rm -r ${dir}
oh man is that messy for something that I feel like should be one line.  Anyone have any better suggestion?
    bonus:
a solution that allows me to take that nopasswd line out of my sudoers file
a solution that works with yoaurt too
    EDIT:  Formatting, spelling, etc..

Umm, 'pacman -Syu' already installs packages, so the only thing that needs to be updated are the packages from AUR.
I mean run pacman -Syu before running pacman -S foo.  If you have pacman -Sy as a cronjob and it shows updates, and you run pacman -S foo after the cronjob'd pacman -Sy but before pacman -Syu, then it is the equivalent of running pacman -Sy foo.
E: also it's been a while since I have used yaourt but wouldn't yaourt -Syu --aur display the amount of packages to be updated between both the repos and aur or just the aur packages?
Ex2:  In any event if you install cower you can get what aur packages need to be updated with cower -u.  Then if you put pacman -Sy as a cronjob and use 'sudo pacman -Qu | wc -l' to get the avilable pacman updates, you can then use 'cower -u|wc -l' to get the aur updates count to display as well.
