ITunes App Store Web Service available?

Hi there,
appshopper.com has great lists and rankings about iPhone apps in the App Store. Does anybody happen to know which interface the folks at appshopper use? I am not aware of any official interface (and I don't believe, they do it all manually...).
Hints are welcome.

Apple doesn't publish a web service interface to the App Store. However the iTunes Music (and App) Store is simply a web app and you can actually access iTunes URLs from outside of iTunes.
There are many examples on the Internet of scripts and programs that scrape information from iTMS for various purposes. Search for "iTunes scrape" and you will find some.

ITunes - App Store - There are updates available that ain't available?

First of all, I'm starting to think that the iPhone ***** big time, but that's a whole other story...
So, here's my issue: Apparently there are updates to my applications available. So says iTunes and also the App Store app on the iPhone, both of them reporting the same number of apps available.
I'm quite sure that there was a button to "update all" on the iPhone on 2.0.1 and 2.0, but that seems to be missing? (but not the point anyway)
Then, in iTunes, the applications view tells me that there are updates available. When I click that link on the lower right that usually redirects to the update page, iTunes tells me that there are no updates available for my account?!
How can that be? Either there are or there ain't.
Is there a way to fix that problem? I would have updated the applications trough the iPhone, but as there are many (44) and I would have do update them one-by-one, I'd like to go an easier way...
I'm really patient, but I start to hate my iPhone. As it is now, it is just a ******* expensive piece of junk. :-((

I have fixed a similar issue in my iTunes. Here is my thoughts on why it happened and the fix.
I had recently added a second computer w/ iTunes with which my iPhone is now synching. I wanted to move my music library synching from work to home.
On the 1st PC (@ Work) I was synching:
Info, Contacts
Info, Calendar
Ringtones
Music
Podcasts
Video
Applications
On the 2nd PC (@ Home) I began synching:
Ringtones
Music
Video
Applications (this nicely caused all of my iPhone Applications to be copied to this PC, in case of a need for a restore from home)
After beginning synching on the 2nd PC (@ Home), I disabled synching on 1st PC of:
Ringtones
Music
Video
Applications (This apparently caused the issue)
The issue with phantom updates was showing up on the 1st PC (@ Work), but I was not synching Applications here. Apparently, I had updated some Applications from the 2nd PC (@ Home) and iTunes detected this and saw a need to show that my iTunes Applications needed updating. Something not in synch between iPhone - iTunes - App Store I believe.
The Fix:
On the 1st PC (@ Work) I enabled synching of Applications and then performed a synch. The phantom updates went away. I noted during the synch that my iPhone apparently updated some of the applications in my iTunes library.
I hope this helps or enlightens others having this difficulty.

Games in iTunes Apps Store not available in South Africa?

Hi.
Does anyone know why the Games category for the iPhone and relevant games are not available in the iTunes Apps Store in South Africa?
I obviously live in SA and would like to download some games for the iPhone 3G.

Either the answer is:
1) The developers of said applications (if you are referring to the iPhone and iPod Touch apps) excluded south Africa
2) Its an error in the iTunes store.
Unfortunately there is no way of knowing without emailing Apple directly since they aren't going to be able to comment here.

Why is my iTunes/App Store just blank?

My iTunes/App Store is just blank with no pictures. Text shows up fine but clicking on buttons like "Buy" doesn't do anything. I can still download updates for apps that i already have though, which is weird. This isn't just happening on my Windows computer but also on my sister's Macbook, all of our iPhones, iPads, etc. I did try solutions suggested by other people like resetting my iTunes cache or updating my various software and services, but since the issue isn't limited to just one computer, the issue must be much larger than that. It isn't my Apple ID either since I tried the IDs of my other family members as well to no avail (we live in the Philippines so use the Philippine store).
Any ideas?
This issue started 2 weeks ago and I haven't been able to get any response from Apple support engineers other than that I could pay for one to call me and try to solve my problem. It's pretty silly considering that I want this issue resolved so that I can continue to purchase apps and music from them to begin with.

This is also my problem. It started last week for me. There are no "music", "movies" tabs on top and there are no pictures of albums, movie posters etc. When I tried buying songs, I click on the BUY button but nothing happens.

Angle Bar Solutions Movie Maker app for the iPhone is being miss-sold.
It is advertised as having Time-Lapse capabilities but it does not have these.
When I write a review to warn others the review gets posted before the one saying that all previous reviews are irrelevant as an update has added the functionality.
There is no update!
The app cannot do Time-Lapse!
I want a refund and I want Apple to remove the app from iTunes App Store.

I had the same error when trying to update my apps on my ipod touch. I tried to input my security code numerous times to no avail. I also made sure my billing address was the same as what my bank had on file. To fix the issue I went into iTunes, logged onto the iTunes store, went to account settings and reviewed my recent purchases. Turned out that I had made a recent purchase and didn't have enough money left on my credit card to pay for it at the time. I paid off the credit card, and then input my security code once more and now it works fine. I've heard that some debit or pay as you go credit cards require a minimum balance, so make sure you have at least that amount in your account.

ITUNES APP STORE WITHOUT A CREDIT CARD WITH EXISTING APPLE ID

I've been trying to create a free itunes app store account. First I read the instructions in this link : http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2534, but the link shows how to create a new account, the problem is that I already have a Apple ID.
On the other hand when I try to sign in in the app store with my existing Apple ID, I get the message "This Apple ID has not yet been used with the iTunes Store please review your account information" with two options "cancel" and "review".
Clicking in review, I go to the page with the terms of service, continuing I go to a page where I have to type my email, my password, question and answer for the password and my birth date. The email field has the email that is being used with my current Apple ID, and the password field has the password of my existing Apple ID. The other fields are blank. Completing them, and clicking in next I go to the payment options page, but there's no "none" option, so I can't make a account withou using a credit card.
Is there a way to create a itunes app store without a credit card with my existing apple ID, or a I have to create a new one ?

This may be a silly question, but in itunes>app store I only have tabs for ipad & iphone apps. I cannot find where to buy apps in (itunes>app store) for my MBP. Can someone help please, what I`m I missing ?

Why does my iTunes / App store go to the German version when I travel in Austria?

Since I updated to iOS 6 my iTunes Store and App Store are both going directly to the Austrian stores. I am in Austria at the moment travelling. But how come I can't change back the Canadian stores? I think someone dropped the ball on this one.

No, go to "settings", "iTunes & App Stores" click on your "Apple ID:" should be some type of email address. Then hit "View Apple ID". Once you sign in w/ your password, hit "country or region" (even if it already shows the correct country) your basically reverifying. I'm guessing since you updated while on vacation your locations services were on thats why it changed countries. Anyway follow the steps update your payment info (you will only need the security code for your debit/credit card if it stayed the same). And you should be good!

App Store Searches vs. iTunes App Store searches

Why do searches suck so bad on the App Store and return COMPLETELY different results than searches on the iTunes App store? Not only that, they don't even return a tenth of the apps available!

contact apple support to see what is going on -- there have been complaints about Icloud servers and mail - so hazarding a guess that they have a problem somewhere between you and them. Weather (storms) can cause an internet connection to be slow - or have to be rerouted in the system causing a traffic jam somewhere along the line. Generally - in the US I check the national weather service map and if there are storms in certain areas I give it up for the day as its just not going to connect.

HT201272 why is itunes app store still showing prices for previous purchases?

I have not had this problem until recently. prior to today, I could go into iTunes App Store and a show or movie I already own is available for download but now it shows the cost. I dare click on it for fear of being double billed. This is frustrating because iTunes just started allowing us to access our purchased content without connecting to the computer and downloading them as often as we wanted. Is this problem affecting others or just me?

I started having the same problem yesterday.
In fact, I just now downloaded a free app. With the app now on my PC, it still shows that it is "free" rather than "downloaded" on the iTunes app page. I moved the .jpa file out of the default folder, and refreshed the app page in iTunes. Similarly, it does not show a "download" option like it should. It makes re-downloading apps that I have paid for in the past difficult if there is not the "download" bar to indicate that I am entitled to the app.
It's probably related, but at one point last night I had a bunch of apps with available updates. I tried to go to the iTunes page on my PC to view the apps with updates. At that point I got a pop-up window stating that I did not have any updates available, and it has been zero ever since. I did not download the updates, nor did all of the apps disappear from the iTunes catalog.
I have an iPad 2 and recently got an iPod Touch. I want to re-download some non HD apps for the Touch that I ditched for HD versions on the iPad. I, too, do not want to be re-billed.

No, there isn't, at least none that's openly available that I know of. Apple doesn't allow direct access to the iTunes Store from outside sites by any method I've ever heard of.
