ITunes app stuck processing file?

For awhile now my the iTunes app on my IPod touch
has been stuck processing a video download.
Here are the symptoms:
- Download remains on 'preparing'
- Not downloading on Wi-Fi network
- Cannot be swiped to delete ( on or offline)
- Restarting iPod, iTunes, Apple Sign-In doesn't remove it.
The only thing I can do with the download is to pause or resume it,
Which has no effect on it because the stuck file will not download.
How can remove the file from the download queue?

I would try downloading on computer and then sync and then delete.
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

Itunes has been "processing file" of my down load of Badlands for 8 hours. What is going on?

    Update:
15 hrs later and it's still "Processing Album Artwork".
It does that in the background so I can still use iTunes, but can't import anything else until this is finished.
I have over 100 gigs to import and it's taken almost a day to do under 10 gigs.

  • ITunes stuck processing file

Has anyone else had this issue recently? I am using the latest iTunes x64 on Windows 7 x64. When app updates download from the iTunes store, it freezes when it gets to where it says "processing file" and never completes. I tried using Ccleaner to clean empty junk off my compluter, ran a full disk defrag, and tried running iTunes as anmid, with the antivirus turned off, and the firewall turned off, but alas, it still keeps doing the same thing. I tried chancing allowing multiple downloads at once or only 1 at a time. I tried pausing and unpausing. I tried clearing the store cache. I keep having to cntrl+alt+delete and kill iTunes. No hardware or software has been installed lately to chance anything on my PC. Yet, it keeps doing the same thing. I plan on trying to reinstall iTunes and see if that helps. Anyone else noticing the same issue? Any solutions known that work?

    1. Exit iTunes (if not possible, force-kill it in task manager, Ctrl-Alt-Del > Task Manager, right click on iTunes and select "End task").
    2. Delete every folder in this directory:
    OS X:
~/Music/iTunes/iTunes Media/DownloadsNote: The tilde (~) refers to your Home directory.Windows Vista:
    \Users\username\Music\iTunes\iTunes Media\Downloads\
    Windows 7:
    \Users\username\My Music\iTunes\iTunes Media\Downloads\
    Windows XP:
    \Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\iTunes Media\Downloads\
    3. Start iTunes and start your downloads again.

  • I deleted music in the iTunes app but the files are still in the iTunes Media folder

    Hi everyone,
I am doing my best to free up some HD space and decided to get rid of some of my music library in iTunes. For the record, my iTunes content is accessed from an external HD. My goal is to move the library back to my Mac's HD instead of the external because I don't want to use the external for anything by backups. (I have to get rid of some content in order for the library to fit on my Mac's smaller HD)
I went into the iTunes app and deleted everything I was no longer interested and managed to get my library down to about 50GBs. I moved the files to the trash and did not choose "keep files". Unfortunately, when I looked at the iTunes Media folder on my external HD, the albums I've deleted in the app are still there. That folder is about 80GBs.
Ultimately, I want what's in my iTunes Media folder to reflect what I've narrowed down in the App's library. Im trying to avoid deleted everything again manually in the media folder on my external as it is a pain.
    Any help/suggestions?

Exact same problem even though I selected 'move to thrash option'. Maybe it was because I was using screen sharing to another mac on a LAN but can't see how this would make a difference.

  • ITunes App Stuck Loading on "More" Button

I have a strange issue that I haven't seen reported anywhere else. I recently purchased a song on itunes on my mac, and wanted to download it on my iphone. When I opened the iTunes store and clicked on "More" to find my available purchased downloads, the app will stay in this loading state for ever:
All the other buttons of the store work fine (Music, Movies, etc.). But the "More" button stays like this forever.
    Things I have tried...
    1. Close the store and remove it from memory via double tapping the home button.
    2. Rebooting my phone
    3. Sign out and sign in using my apple id
    4. Complete iphone restore and then restoring from backup
I'm at my wits end on what to try. Any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance.

Of course right after I posted this I realized I hadn't tried one thing.
I closed the iTunes store app.
In settings I signed out of my Apple ID. I did not sign back in
I opened the itunes store app and went to "More"
I was prompted to sign in to an Apple ID and I did
And voila - I got the More menu!
I was able to browse my purchased music and download
The only remaining issue is that Purchased>>Recent Purchases stays stuck in the loading state. At least it exited (i.e. the iTunes app shutdown) after a minute or two.
I hope this helps if you ever get in the same situation.

  • ITunes Download Stuck "Processing"

Does anyone have a suggested fix for a download that's been stuck in "processing" for more than 30 minutes?

    Hey ormana,
First, try force closing the music app:
    Double-click the Home button.
Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.
Swipe the app up to close it.
from: iOS: Force an app to close
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5137
If you reopen the app and the song is still stuck, I would reset the device:
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
from: iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting

    Best,

  • Will changing location for Itunes Apps and Music files to different drive (from dive C: to drive E:)now effect how they work. And will Itunes be able to find them, when I do a sync?

Will changing the location of folders effect how my Itunes will run? As I am runnig out of room fast on my C drive. And have almost a 1 terrabyte of room on the drive I want it to all to go to. I was thinking of just cutting and pasting.

No, but do not simply move files around else you will have a lot of grief...
Do NOT move files then change iTunes prefs to a new location as this will not work.
    Quit iTunes.
Copy your entire /Music/iTunes/ folder (and everything inside it) on your C: drive to the E: drive.
    Hold Shift and launch iTunes.
Select Choose library and select the iTunes folder you copied to the E: drive.
That is all you need to do. You do not need to change any other settings.

  • My itunes is stuck processing?

I have an I pod five and just downloaded an itunes book and it has been processing for a while now. I am wondering if this is normal or not. Memory is not an issue because I have plenty of space open.

Just force quit iTunes by pressing option+command+esc. Relaunch iTunes and start the syncing again.

  • IPod app fades and quits playing as iTunes app processes downloaded tracks

at least that appears to be the cause...
I'm downloading a bunch of tracks via the iTunes apps, while listening to the tracks via the iPod app.
After a track is downloaded as the iTunes app is "processing" it the iPod app will fade and then stop playing?!
if you leave it alone, sometime when the next track is "processed" the iPod app will start again?!
I suppose this is some sort of feature?!

I'm having the same issue.  I've only noticed it since the 4.3.1 update.  Every time a song hits the "processing" stage of its download, my music playing from the iPod fades and stops playing.
The music will sometimes start back up on its own but usually I have to hit play again.  I'm really hoping this is not a new feature as it is somewhat annoying.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • ITunes app constantly crashes when loading

My daughter has an 8GB iPod Touch (3.1.3). Whenever we try to open the iTunes app, it crashes instantly. None of the other apps appear to have any problems. We've done reboot and reset. Before we go through the wipe/restore process, I checked on the use of memory. According to Settings, the total capacity is 7.1 GB and available capacity is 373 MB. I know that on a Mac we should keep approx. 10% of the HD capacity free for swap files. Is the same true for the Touch? Does the iTunes app use swap files when it is started/operating? Outside of a corrupt iTunes app, this is the only other possible problem cause I can think of.
Thanks for any help you can give us!

I don't believe low memory would cause one specific app to crash, but why don't you remove some things before trying a restore.

  • Apps stuck on "processing file" in 11.1.3.8 for Windows

I don't believe that this was a problem 100% of the time since I downloaded 11.1.3.8 for Windows, but I am noticing that recently, most times the software hangs during the "processing file" portion of updating any app.
If I go into task manager and kill all iTunes processess and restart iTunes I can occasionally get smaller apps to update individually if I run the update process quickly after restarting, but once iTunes has been running for about a minute everything that I attempt to update hangs.
I can update the apps on my iPhone or iPad and sync them to succesfully update the apps on my computer/in iTunes, but downloading them hangs.
I've seen other people complaining about it here so I know it's a legitimate issue, my question is -- can anybody confirm if this is software based in 11.1.3.8 or if this is something on Apple's end where the downloaded software pings their servers for verification during the 'processing file" portion of the update?
Thanks for any info that anybody has!

I have the exact same problem and I am experiencing this since last week. My problem is-
When I try to download/purchase an app using iTunes, it immediately starts downloading. Ideally, download starts and finishes in sometime, depending on the file size. In the last stage of downloading, iTunes tries to process the downloaded file and places it in the '...\Music\AppSync\Mobile Applications' folder in my case. The problem I am facing is that sometimes file never completes downloading and gets stuck. Download reaches 100% then iTunes shows 'processing file' and it gets stuck there and never completes. This means that downloaded ipa file never added to the 'Mobile Applications' folder. Even if I try to delete the download, iTunes does not do anything and then I have to kill the iTunes process manually as it does not even quit by clicking on the cross icon. After killing the iTunes process using task manager in windows, I restart iTunes and go to my purchase history to start downloading that app again. Sometime it succeeds otherwise it gets stuck again and I have to repeat the process of killing iTunes and starting again. But after several attempts, it does get downloaded. Also, note that this does not happen all the time, mostly randomly. If I am trying to download 10 apps for example, it will get stuck in 1 or 2.
This problem comes both updating and downloading new apps. I have not found any solution for this yet. I am following up with iTunes support but all they can think of is to reinstall iTunes.
I have latest version of iTunes and it is running on Windows 8.1. The iTunes account country is USA.

  • My iPhone with iTunes match is extremely slow downloading songs, stuck on processing file

I have a 64GB iPhone 5, with iTunes Match enabled. Whenever I try to download songs to the phone, the songs will download very quickly, usually with 15 seconds, but then it will be stuck on Processing File for 15-20 minutes. This makes it very difficult to download large numbers of songs. I have been trying to download ~3000 songs since Friday and there are still 492 left after 4 days. Any ideas why the processing file action takes so long?
Internet speed: 15ms ping, 35mbps download, 11mbps upload
    iOS version: 7.1.2
    Capacity: 57.1GB
    Available: 30.7GB
    Thanks,
    Randy

I'm trying to load ~20k songs onto my new iPhone 6 via iTunes Match, and I'm only about 1/20 along after two days
I can't even track the progress using the iTunes Store app since the app either crashes immediately upon launch or doesn't show the "Downloads" tab (if I reboot the phone, I'll see the "Downloads" tab once with a badge indicating the number of songs remaining, but after locking up the app for a few minutes, the "Downloads" tab disappears until I reboot again).
Instead, I get alerts every so often reporting "Unable to Purchase" as sync downloads occasionally fail. The only way I'm able to see that anything is still progressing at all is by going to Settings -> General -> About and observing the "Songs" number very slowly incrementing.
Meanwhile, I cannot update any apps since app update downloads appear to queue up behind iTunes Match syncs instead of being entirely independent.
I have been terribly disappointed with Apple's handling of iTunes Match.

  • Download stuck on "processing file" then when iTunes restarted, no record

I have a couple albums downloading in my iTunes. A song will download fine but will get stuck on "processing file"
    Ex. 6.1MB of 6.1MB - processing file
No other songs can start downloading. Thought it was iTunes freezing so I shut it down and restarted it. Now there is no history at all of purchasing the song or downloading it in any of the iTunes tabs.
Thank you for ANY help anyone might have!!! - Meg
