ITunes App updates

I recently went away on annual leave without my laptop. On returning I opened iTunes to find 23 app updates. The first listed (Doodle Buddy) came up with 1,600+hrs to download. Eventually iTunes froze and completed froze my laptop. There was no way of closing programs or restarting windows. It came down to turn my laptop off by using the power button.
This happened 2weeks ago. And still continues to be a problem each time I have tried opening iTunes.
I have tried deleting the app updates. I have tried un-installing and re-installing iTunes. I have downloaded the app updates on my iphone hoping that when I tried sync it with my laptop it would fix the problem. But no ... still having the same problem. I have had my IT manager at work look at the problem and he hasn't been able to fix it either.
I don't really know what I can do purely because everytime iTunes opens, it freezes and my laptop does too.
I would really appreciate someone's advice or suggestions.

Upgrade to iTunes 8, then:
1 Drag the Mobile Applications folder from ~/Music/iTunes to the desktop
2 Open iTunes WITHOUT THE IPHONE/IPOD CONNECTED and select all your applications and delete them. (if your iPhone/iPod were connected, it would now start helpfully deleting apps)
3. When they’re all gone, quit iTunes
4. Start iTunes again and verify that you have no apps listed.
5. Drag your the Mobile Applications folder from the Desktop to your open iTunes window — if you have default iTunes settings (copy/manage my music), then iTunes will start re-adding your applications.
6. Read the iTunes notices carefully — you will likely get something like “an OLDER version of this app already exists, do you want to replace it” (you DO), or “a NEWER version of this app already exists, do you want to replace it” (you DON’T), or sometimes a mention that this app already exists as the same version (replace it).
7. Quit iTunes, then restart it to “set” the changes

  • ITunes App Updates Slow

Running the latest iTunes and everything works normal except the iTunes App updates.  The download is extremely slow.  Typical app is taking 45 minutes minimum to update.  I did a speed test and internet speed on everything else is super fast.  Not sure what to do.

  • What happened to iTunes apps updates?

What happened to the iTunes app updates? Why it is returning a no update message?

the outlook on bug fixing has been poor...it's bad when they dont get fixed in an update, its worse when there is no update, and its just pathetic they continue through several versions.
the QC is bordering on a joke as well...
the crop tool now has an additional bug to the rotate one, and there are bugs that have followed several versions now.
added to the detached 'feature improvements' that infiltrate each version shows that really the end result is that PS's development is lacking, where it exists is out of touch and behind the curve, and faulty.
Anyone who disagrees with that is either a soft user, inexperienced, or delusional...or not paying or not using the product to any serious degree.

  • What's wrong with the iTunes app updates?

The last days the app update is behaving very strange. One moment there are no updates, then suddenly there are 8 but iTunes cannot find them. And at this moment, there are 41 updates being downloaded while 5 minutes ago there were none. What's going one?

I'm having the same problem.  I even tried updating through my computer with no success.

  • ITunes App Updates in Yosemite, no longer show a description of what's new in the app.

    Greetings.
I've noticed since upgrading to OS X 10.10 (Yosemite) a few days a go, when you have app updates waiting in iTunes, if you click on an app's icon, there is no longer a description of what has changed (or is new) in the app.
Is anyone else having this problem?  Is there a fix?
    Thanks for your help.

    Hello,
I'm having the same exact problem on my Mac as well. Its a bug and sadly Apple hasn't yet released a fix to it, but I'm also having an issue where iTunes says "Determining Gapless Playback Information". It's so annoying and I'm really hoping that Apple would read this and fix these problems.

  • Itune apps updating server down?

In my iPhone iTune and iTune apps dating is fine.
    I visit https://developer.apple.com/support/system-status/ .
I have got 5 apps need to updating. But iTune tried to connect to apps updates server.
Do you have iTune App Store announce?
    None on System Status website.

Yes it is down. This is a problem that many users are experiencing now. Apple is working on the fix for this.
According to Fly150 in another discussion, this will work.
If you want to update the Apps while waiting for Apple to fix Updates:
    1. Go to App Store
    2. Select Purchased
    3. Select All
    4. Scroll down to find the Apps showing update
    5. Select update on the Apps
This should update the Apps and get rid of the update count in App Store. Apple needs to fix this, because you cant fix it. It is a workaround only.
if nothing else works, update the apps in iTunes on your computer and sync them to the iPad.

  • TS1424 Cannot connect to iTunes app updates

I'm trying to update my apps on my iPad and I get the error Cannot connect to iTunes .  Please help

You can re-download content purchased from the app store using the purchased option from the Quick Links section in the top right corner of the iTunes homepage in your iTunes application on your computer.
You can re-download content purchased from the app store using the purchased option which is revealed by tapping the updates option at the bottom of the screen of the App store app on your iOS device.
If the problem re-occurs, select the content which is causing a problem and use the 'Report a problem' button in Your Purchase History using your computer.

  • ITunes app updates on phone

For some reason I have two iTunes accounts because my boyfriend set one up on my iPhone when I got it, not knowing I already had one. After I installed 3.0 on my phone, my iPhone switches accounts when it comes to downloading updating apps. I can download them from my phone on one account but if I want to update some apps, it switches to the account that I don't use & won't let me update apps because it says password is incorrect & user ID doesn't exist. How do I get it to stop switching accounts so I can actually update my apps without having to always sync my phone to my computer?

Thank you. That is actually what I have been doing. So I should just ignore the apps section on iTunes that says I apps I need to update?
    Thanks again!

  • My itunes app updates wont work, help please?

HI, i recently created a new apple ID due to my old one being disabled. I have quite a few much needed updates, which include paid and nonpaid items. (irrelevent?) My new ID works in all feilds except updates. When the verification box pops up it uses my old email as my username and I cannot find out how to change that in order to update my apps. The iTunes store itself shows that it is using my new ID, how can I change the username in my verification box inorder to update?
*may I add that I have tried turning on and off my iPhone, and resetting my ID in my computer too.*

  • Erroneous iTunes app update notification

My iTunes has been showing that there is an update to an app in the side bar.  When I click on my apps, it says that there is no update available.  I have no idea which one it is for or why it is there because I keep all my programs updated with the latest version.  How can I tell iTunes to make this notification go away?

I have had the same problem for a while, and noticed the number of incorrect updates was actually increasing. Yesterday it was up to 13! I spent some time with this, and finally found one thing that helped this issue.
It appears that there may be some sort of bug such that, if you have purchased the app directy from within your iPhone or iPad, then iTunes will notify you that they need to be updated (probabl when you connect it to your Mac), but it does not actually have the apps listed within iTunes itself or something, so when you go to update it does not show them as being available. To resolve this:
    1. Connect all your iOS devices
    2. Luanch iTunes.
    3. From the File menu select "Transfer Purhases from (your iOS device)".
    4. Repeat this for all your iOS devices.
This cleared up 10 out of the 13 that were showing up incorrectly on my update count. I still have 3 unresolved ones, so there are apprently other reaons why this can happen.

  • ITunes app update does not agree w iPad

Sigh looks likw iTunes is having a problem in Win7 here. I have two iTunes accounts. One I use to buy apps via gift card . Another is a Canadian based acct which I use for free apps. iTunes shows a circle with a number 3 under Apps in iTunes which I take to mean that there is 3 apps that have updates. I click on Apps and in lower right corner click on check for updates and iTunes refreshes the screen and it goes back to iTunes Store line on the left hand side. I can not see what these 3 apps are that iTunes thinks has updates.
I have logged into both accounts in iTunes and it does not matter I can not see any of these 3 apps that supposedly have updates.
I go to the iPad2 and it shows only 2 apps and their names and both of which require iOS 6.0.1 and iPad is at 5.1.1. iTunes seem to have screwed up regarding Apps.

King Penguin is correct. I have the original version of the iPad and I use Pages. If you want the update you will have to download and install the latest version of iTunes which is iTunes 10.5, then update the iOS on your iPad to iOS 5. Then you can download the update for Pages.

  • Itunes app updates can't resume

those app i updates and paused...the next time i login to itunes it show nothing and i need to start the update again...i thought it will resume from where i stop ???

Thanks, Lucky.  Good to know I'm not alone . . . I was going to try an erase, but based on your response I may wait a while.
Sorry you had a bad first-day experience.  I've had the phone for quite a while (I was one of the loonies who bought it on the first day it was out), and in general I've been pleased with it, but every once in a while it does something funky like this that, unfortunately, requires more time to unravel than I'd like it to.
Good luck, and thanks again for sharing this information.

  • App updates in iTunes 12

Can I get a simple answer to this question? Is it true that you can no longer get app updates (for your iOS devices) from within iTunes 12? In past versions of iTunes, app updates were announced prominently when you plugged in an iOS device to sync. There are "badges" on my iPhone apps now showing that updates are available and I can update them directly using the phone. But there seems to be no such function now in iTunes 12. It would seem a simple and basic function of iTunes isn't it? And if the feature is now removed, well at least tell us how the task is supposed to be performed.

Small correction: the date and version number are displayed, sorry for the mistake. The rest of the problem still stands, though, the descriptions of the changes are missing.

  • ITunes available app update count is incorrect - off by 1

so for the past couple weeks i've been having this problem with itunes app updates. on the left-hand side of itunes where "apps" is, the number that pops up next to it to show the available updates to be downloaded is off by one. if i click and try to install available updates, i receive the notification that there are no new updates to install for any of my apps, but the number still shows one! totally frustrating.
i googled this and have only found one possible solution found on an older itunes support forum, but i have no idea what it means or how to go about this:
+"I experienced this same issue. An update number in iTunes, yet nothing to update once you click the update link.+
+I also realized that I had duplicates in both iTunes itself and in the Music > iTunes > Mobile Applications Folder. The number of duplicated apps matched my false "update number."+
+So, if an application was duplicated in either iTunes itself or in the Mobile Applications Folder, I made sure that each duplicated app was already synced to the iPhone, then simply removed the duplicated applications from both iTunes and from the Mobile Applications Folder.+
+Then when I did my next sync, I made sure to choose the "transfer" button to have my apps synced back into iTunes. Once this was done, the problem completely disappeared. I hope this helps you!"+
can please someone help me figure this out? and if by all means you have a better/clearer solution, please let me know. very much appreciated! thanks!

I had the same problem despite regularly updating my Apps. Problem was that somewhere during the early days of using iCloud iTunes got me logged in to with my mac.com account, rather than my long running imran.com account. Result, I have 8 apps that got purchased with that mac.com ID.
Even until now Apple has failed to provide a way to merge two AppleIDs.
So, now I have to go through the annoying step of logging out of my main iTunes account, logging in with my mac.com account, downloading the available updates for that, then remember to logout and log back in with my primary account. That brings the app update count available to Zero.
Convoluted situation brought to you by Apple's failure to provide linking or merging AppleIDs. Hope this helps.
    Imran
