Itunes/Apple ID disruption
Hello,
The other day, after years of smooth logins, I suddenly was asked for my Apple ID which had never changed. It would not accept the password and, because I was in a hurry to download a song, I changed the Apple ID. It was accepted but days later, after having to change the ID 8 times, iTunes stilll won't let me log in with any ID I create (though all ID changes were accepted). Something's corrupted, somewhere. What do I do next?

iTunes interrupted...
After years of smooth logins, I've been getting only intermittent access into the iTunes Store since I foolhardily ventured into the parallel universe known as iTunes 11. First of all, I lost my beloved Cover Flow which has been morphed into Cover Billboards (brilliantly engineered via whiteboard display of a donkey chasing a carrot on a stick). What is now occurring on a seemingly random basis is this: One day iTunes is fine, the next day I get stuck in what I affectionately call an "Infinite Loop" with a remarkably similar glitch (like the one you're trying to deal with) in which I am coerced into resetting my password each time I wish to access my privilege to make a purchase. Sometimes, however, that doesn't work either (even with Apple Tech support via telephone) and so I just go to a local store and buy what I wanted to get on iTunes.
I've discussed this with four user-friendly Apple Techs who - although they are diligently trying (which I sincerely appreciate) can't iron the aforementioned, pesky bug out of my otherwise near-flawless iMac/Snow Leopard experience. We're working on it together, however, and it's a sure bet that a fix is in the works... because Apple needs to actually let people sign into the iTunes Store to continue to make money.
Regards,
Michael

After a recent iTunes update my iTunes failed to start. I uninstalled it and then reinstalled it again, but during installation an error message pops up saying: 'Apple Mobile Device' failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start the system services. The three option buttons which can be clicked are 'Abort', 'Retry' and 'Ignore'. I tried pressing ignore, which allowed iTunes to install. However, it seemed that not all parts off the programme installed, as it wouldn't allow me to open iTunes again. Whenever I press retry it just makes the same message pop up again. How can I show that I have 'sufficient privileges'?
Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
Bonjour
Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.

It says this when I try to open iTunes:
Apple Application Support was not found.
Apple Application Support is required to run iTunes. Please uninstall iTunes, then install iTunes again.
Error 2
I've tried uninstalling it and installing it several times. I've tried to download Apple Application Support separately but it just says:
An error occurred during the installation of assembly 'Microsoft.VC80.CRT,version="8.0.50727.4... Please refer to Help and Support for more information. HRESULT:0x800736FDYou have missing information in your Windows programming.
You need to repair your computer so it can run iTunes. If you plug those error codes into your browser you may get an answer. -
HT204150 Sharing the same iTunes, Apple ID and iCloud accounts.
Hi
My wife and I share the same Itunes , Apple Id and Icloud accounts.
How do we keep our contacts seperate, when we open up or back up on I cloud?
As we both have I phones, I would like to keep all my work contacts seperate from hers. Also I don't wish to have her contacts loaded on my phone and vice verser.
Will it mean the I will have to get a seperate apple ID and seperate Icloud account.
Problem is that all our music and photos are on the one Library, because we didn't have two Iphones before, it didn't matter.
We would like to keep the same Itunes library to access music and photos, but like to keep everything else seperate.
Can you please help.
Regards
shervhallYou can continue to share the same ID for purchasing from the iTunes and App stores (your iTunes account/library), but you need to have separate iCloud accounts with separate IDs to prevent merged data such as contacts. (You aren't required to use the same ID for purchasing as you do for other services such as iCloud, iMesage, FaceTime, etc.) The only issue is that photo stream is tied to the iCloud account so when you separate your accounts, you will no longer be sharing the same photo stream. You can still send each other shared photo streams in order to share each other's photos, but they wouldn't be part of the same photo stream.
To separate your iCloud accounts, on the device that will be changing accounts, go to Settings>iCloud and turn all data that is syncing with iCloud (contacts, calendars, etc.) to Off. When prompted choose to keep the data on the device. (If you are syncing iWork documents with iCloud, also open your iWork apps and turn off iCloud syncing and choose to keep the documents on your device.) After everything is turned off, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account. (This will only delete the account from this phone, not from iCloud. The device that will be keeping the existing account will not be effected by this.) Next, set up a new iCloud account on this device using a different Apple ID and turn iCloud data syncing for contacts, etc. back to On. When prompted, choose Merge. This will upload the data to this new account. At this point you will have two different iCloud accounts, one for each phone, with identical data on them.
You will then have to go to icloud.com on your computer and sign into each iCloud account separately and manually delete the unwanted data (such as deleting the other wife's contacts from your account, and vice versa). These changes will be reflected on each phone. When finished you will have individual iCloud accounts with just your own data on them.
To avoid getting each other's text messages and FaceTime calls you also need to use separate IDs for iMessage and FaceTime. To change the ID for iMessage on one of the devices, go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive, tap the ID, sign out, then sign in with a separate ID (such as the new iCloud ID). To change the ID for FaceTime on this device, do the same thing in Settings>FaceTime. -
I have two seperate iTunes apple id accounts. Is there a way to merge them together and only have 1 account?

I have multiple Apple IDs. Is there a way for me to merge them into a single Apple ID?
Apple IDs cannot be merged. You should use your preferred Apple ID from now on, but you can still access your purchased items such as music, movies, or software using your other Apple IDs. -

I signed into my icloud and apple id, in both my home sharing and itunes/apple stores setting. Then i tried going to my itunes>downloads>purchased and it showed all my purchased music from my ipad. It had the icloud download button next to the music, so i clicked download all, but when downloads are finished no music has transferred over to my music center. Tried signing out of my icloud/apple id, turning off and on my phone, turning off my ipad, and resetting my phone, but still not luck.. Can anyone HELP!! Thanks!!

Hello, nikkihutchins10.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
I understand that you are attempting to reset your Apple ID password. I would try resetting your password via answering the security questions instead of sending the email. The first article will walk you through that process. If you are still unable to reset your Apple ID password, see the steps in the second article.
If you forgot your Apple ID password
Contact Apple for help with Apple ID account security

I originally hooked my iphone to my cousins itunes/apple account (on my computer). I did so because my computer wouldn't register with itunes (some software problem) so I couldn't hook it up. I've now fixed my computer and want to hook my iphone to my itunes/apple account however when I do it asks me to choose a new phone or restore from backup. Well it was never hooked up to this account so I need to choose new phone, if i do will everything on my phone be erased?
Hello there, pullmyhairout.
The following Knowledge Base article offers up some great guidance for backing up your iOS device to your computer:
Back up and restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iCloud or iTunes
Back up
To back up the content on your iOS device to iTunes on your computer:
Make sure your computer has the latest version of iTunes.
Connect your iOS device to your computer.
Choose File > Devices > Back up.
If you're using iTunes 10.7 or earlier, right-click the device and choose Backup Now.
You can also back up by syncing your iOS device with your computer. When you use iTunes to sync, backing up is the first step.
To check that the backup finished successfully, open iTunes Preferences and select the Devices tab. You'll see the name of the device along with the date and time iTunes created the backup.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.

How can I get a credit card re-instated with ITunes/Apple Store? It was blocked due to an ITunes billing error. Called customer (lacking in) service, but they were no help! The rep emailed that I had to get a new credit card No way.... --PB
Only Apple Account Security could help at this point. You can try calling Apple Support in Canada - you'll have to find one of the several ways, such as Skype, to call an 800 number from outside of the relevant country - and ask for Account Security and see if they can help. Or you can find a friend who speaks Chinese and ask them to help you talk to Apple Support in China. There are really no other options that I know of.
Note, by the way, that these are user-to-user support forums. You aren't speaking with Apple when you post here.

On the opening screen of my 1pad2 the itunes apple icon and usb cord are displayed. How do I delete them? Do NOT tell me to download anything, as I CANNOT GET INTO THE IPAD.
You can't get rid of those icons because that means that you MUST connect the iPad to your computer's iTunes and restore the device. You have no choice. There is no way to remove that from the screen. Something went wrong on the iPad and you need to restore it now.
