Creating/using folders in iTunes apps section for sync (not iOS folders)

So I use my iPad mainly for work. I have about 600-1000 PDF documents I want to organize. I've been using Goodreader for years. The issue is the initial sync of the Folders, it's too clunky. I have to drag a million files into the Apps section of iTunes, and even if I have the folders already created and showing up in the little drag to box, I can't actually put files in that way through iTunes.
Is there a better app or a better way to do this?

ITunes App section grayed out?

When I connect my iPod Touch to iTunes the entire "Apps" page is grayed out for some reason. The other pages are ok. Any thoughts or help would be appreciated.

I had this problem, too, with a 1st gen iPod touch that I was cleaning off to give to my daughter. Turned out that I had restricted addition of apps in the restrictions settings on the iPod touch. When I turned "on" allowing apps to be added, the Apps page wasn't grayed out anymore.

Why when I download an App from iTunes, this app doesn't appear in App section of my iDevice?

Problem Example:
~ Connect the iDevice
~ Open iTunes and click on the iDevice name
~ Go on App section
What do you see is your iDevice, with all your apps that looks like your iDevice
After downloading an App from iTunes store, this app doesn't appear on the image of my iDevice (on iTunes - App section)!!
This app appears only after i click Synchronize, and if i don't want install the app just downloaded I must abort the synchronization and then remove the app that I don't want to install!!

Newly downloaded apps will appear in the column on the left. The images on the right show what is installed on the device. Perphaps the logic has changed slightly with older builds also including what would be synced as well. Untick the box that says Automatically sync new apps and you can choose whether or not to include a new app instead of syncing, then removing.

Where do photos go when shared to iTunes on iPhone on Windows? iTunes under Apps shows somethings been shared based on the size, but there is nothing in the iTunes photo section, and it says 0 photos???

I'm new to iPhoto, and I'm trying to figure out where sharing a photo to iTunes goes on the iPhone4 and/or Windows 8?
The Windows iTunes App section indicates something was shared and has an appropriate date and size, but the photo part says 0 photos, which makes it a little hard to delete.

Sharing to iTunes means the item is stored in the Individual app's file sharing area.
When your iPad is connected to your computer and selected look for the Apps tab. Select that then scroll down. First there will be a list of all your apps. Scroll down below that to find a list of your apps that support file sharing. Select iPhoto and you'll find the files you have shared to iTunes. Copy or drag them to your computer and move them where you want them.

ITunes apps won't sync with iPad without deleting all the apps already on the iPad!

I've been using my iPad with iCloud sync for a while and now have decided to go back to iTunes sync. I have a bunch of apps i downloaded on the iPad from its app store and want to keep them. However, when i go to the Itunes app section (which is grayed out) and select the sync apps button, all the apps on my iPad in the preview screen disappear!!! How can i sync apps from my computer and keep the apps already on the iPad?

Ditto. Even the new 2.0.1 firmware made no difference. I've had no luck with iTunes in this dept at all. I can download apps to the phone, but they won't sync back to iTunes. If I download apps to iTunes, not only will they not transfer to the phone, but all the apps on the phone get wiped w/o warning.
I've tried the following per Apple suggestions, but to no avail:
- Reset iPhone (the home and lock button method)
- Remove (I manually deleted all content little by little)
- Reset Settings (done thru software, don't know how this differs from "reset iPhone" above)
- Restore - a Huge pain in the *** for nothing. Took forever and obviously I then had to manually put all my songs, ringtones, contacts and photos back on it.
What else is there left to try?

Itunes 12 freezes when I try to select apps section on a device

I'm using itunes 12.1.2.27 on windows 7.
When I connect my iPhone 6 plus or iPad Air, both running IOS 8.3.
And try to select the apps section on the device, itunes invariably Freezes and I have to stop it via the task manager.
This also happened in the previous version of itunes 12, so rather than updating to 12.1.2.27, I uninstalled itunes and then installed a fresh download form the apple site. This made no difference.
Anyone else getting this?\

Hi Zivan,
As I understand it, iTunes is becoming unresponsive immediately after selecting the Apps on the device when it is plugged in. To help resolve this issue I'd like you to please follow the directions in the article below.

The safest way to do this would be to copy your itunes library to an external drive. For the purposes of this excersize the new Laptop would be the external drive

"Apps" section of my iPod disabled in iTunes

I have a 3G iPod Touch, that works very well, I restored it last week (from last backup), and now, when I go on iTunes to sync new apps, the "Apps" section is disabled, I can not check or uncheck "Sync apps", I can not manage and rearrange my apps from iTunes as you can see :
I have tried to disable restrictions from my iPod, my iTunes version is up to date, my iOS version is too (obviously, my iPod is not Jailbroken).
Does anybody had the same problem before ?

Is the computer authorized for the accts that purchased the apps?
Is the iPod signed into that account?

Whenever I try to enter the "apps" section of Itunes it crashes

Whenever I try to enter the "apps" section of Itunes it crashes. I cant figure out why, but it started after the update.
Tried to restore the phone and reinstall Itunes. Sitting on Windows 8 and an Iphone 4s. Every other page works fine.
I've seen posts about "Store" not working as it should but that is not the problem for me, just the "apps" section of Itunes.
Any kinda help is appreciated.

Smart family iCloud/apple id/iTunes/Apps Store setup?

Currently, we have the following setup:
Apple ID 1: (gen.appleid), used for:
Mac App Store for all compurers (desktops & laptops)
iOS App Store purchasing on Mom & Dad accounts on both Macs and their iOS devices
Apple Developer / Apple Seed
iTunes purchases on central OS X Server Computer including Match. This central server runsalways and can be accesses on all iOS devices for Remote, and from AppleTV. Mom and Dad thus have a full copy of their Music library on each account on each desktop
iTunes purchases on Mom & Dad OS X accounts on both Macs and their iOS devices.
Used as general Apple ID by Dad (e.g. find my iPhone etc)
Used for Home Sharing
Apple ID 2: (mom.appleid), used for:
Nothing specific yet
Apple ID 3: (dad.appleid), used for:
Nothing specific yet, an not even sure it exists already
Apple ID 3: (child1.appleid), used for:
iOS App Store purchases of child 1, has no credit card attached but gets money on it via gifts
iTunes Music / Video purchases of child 1
Apple ID 4: (child4.appleid), used for:
iOS App Store purchases of child 2, has no credit card attached but gets money on it via gifts
iTunes Music / Video purchases of child 2 (each child has his/her separate iTunes Library with apps & music and own iOS Device(s)
All iOS devices are synced with their owner's OSX account.
User accounts are accounts with Portable Home Directories so everybody can log in on any deskotp/laptop at home and away and get his/her own home directory there. Very nice, even if PHD syncing is not extremely robust.
This is a bit of a mess.
Mom & Dads photo's are separated, but they should be shared. There are two cameras, one used by Mom, and one by Dad and the photo's are in each account and sharing is a pain (and duplicates a lot)
Mom & Dad keep separate full copies of the large iTunes database. These are synched/matched via the gen.appleid account, but it takes up a lot of space.The large iTunes Library has one copy on the central server and two on each desktop.
All the other iCloud things are not used (e.g. calendar syncing etc.)
What is a good setup and how can I get their from this setup?

I assume you are all using one ID at the moment ([email protected]) for iCloud, iMessage, FaceTime and iTunes.
If your husband created his own ID ([email protected]) and your daughter her own ([email protected]), then you could do the following.
iCloud. Each of you use your own address, this keeps your contacts, calendars, photos, documents etc seperate, it also gives you all your own 5GB of cloud space for this data and back ups of your devices.
iMessage. If you want to see your daughters messages, then I'd suggest you and your daughter logs in with [email protected] and your husband with [email protected]
FaceTime. You can't really monitor FaceTime by sharing an ID, so I'd suggest you all log in to FaceTime with your own ID's.
iTunes & App Stores. I'd suggest you all use [email protected], that way you all have use of the existing purchases of apps, music, books etc.
In order to share your calendars, there are two ways.
1. You (or/and vice versa) could use the share feature in the calendar app (Tap calendars at the bottom of the calendar screen, then tap the i next to the calendar you want to share and add your husband to the shared section on the next page).
2. You (or/and vice versa) can add [email protected] to your device as a secondary iCloud account (settings > mail, contacts, calendars), this allows you to share mail, calendars, contacts, reminders and notes, which you can enable individually as you wish.

If you had a backup either in iTunes or iCloud of the iPad you can restore from it by following this article:

If not you can go into the Purchased section of the App Store App, and download your Purchased Apps from there for free. However their data will not be restored.

If iTunes purchases, delete and redownload by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Otherwise delete and resync if they play OK in iTunes on the computer

When I had 10.6.8, itunes would leave a left over amount in itunes apps. When I got the upgrade to 10.7 I thougt the problem would go away but it did not. There is a bug in the app system and I think it should be resolve quickly.

I would got to up date them and there would be no apps to up date. 2 days later I would go to up date apps and it would show I have 15 apps to update when I really have 6 then it would add on more invisable apps to which is not there. There is a bug in itunes that needs to be fixed please fix this app section. I have sent letters about this before and you did not listen. I a beta tester and I hate it when my requests don't get fixed.

You are on Windows 2000, you do not have a "Firefox" button, and should consider yourself to be fortunate in that you still have menus and don't have to do anything to get the menus back instead of the "Firefox" button. (The same applies to Windows XP users).
Use the "File" menu to get to Import. You are not on Windows 7 or Vista, and don't have to put up with the nonsense added for Aero.
If you want the "Firefox" button you can get it with View -> toolbars -> (uncheck) Menu Bar. The menu bar and the "Firefox" button were supposed to be mutually exclusive (which is impossible in some cases without being incompatible).

Problem syncing iTunes app and Music app

I recently purchsed my iphone 4s, I have synced the ipone and my pc with the intent to transfer my music. The music shows up in the purchased section of my itunes app, but when I open my music app it says there is no content. How do I sync the 2?

Make sure your computer is authorized for the Apple ID used to purchase this music (iTunes: Store>Authorize this computer), connect your phone and check your sync preferences in iTunes on the Summary tab to ensure that you have checked "Sync only checked songs and videos", and that you have selected to sync music on the Music tab. Finally, make sure you have checked all the songs in your library that you want to sync to your phone, then sync.
