ITunes Asking for Authorization to Play Downloaded Song

I am having a problem I've never had before.  iTunes won't play a song I downloaded 11.0.4 won't play a song I downloaded from the iTunes Store as part of an album.  It asks to authorize the computer to play the song.  When I enter my name and password, it says my computer is already authorized.  But then it wil not play the song!  I've tried the troubleshooting tips on the webpage (ie deleting my SC folder, etc) to no avail.  The "Info" section on the song, oddly, doesn't indicate that the song was downloaded from the iTunes store (the rest of the songs on the album list me as the downloader).  But I also can't re-download the song, because the store thinks I've already downloaded it.  The store offers me the opportunity to play the song, but then the same authorization problem happens.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Delete it and then redownload it.

  • ITunes asks for authorization, though computer is authorized

Hello! Happy New Year! It would be happier for me if I could get my iTunes purchases to play.
Recently I was having problems with my laptop computer, so I had to do an Archive and Re-install Operating System. After doing this I am having problems playing the songs I have purchased from the iTunes Store.
I have my computer authorized, but when I click to play a song, I get a message prompting me to authorize the computer. I then re-enter the authorization info. I then get a message telling me that this computer is already authorized, but the song still will not play.
I have the latest version of iTunes installed. I have tried de-authorizing and re-authorizing all of my computers. The authorization works on my other computers - can even play the same files that are on my laptop - but for some reason I cannot get the songs to play on my laptop.
    Any ideas?

OK GUYS, *SUCCESS AT LAST*!!! I'VE GOT THIS AUTHORIZATION FINALLY RESOLVED AND I'VE NO IDEA HOW COME ITUNES SUPPORT WERE UNABLE TO GET ME STRAIGHTENED OUT IN ALL THE TIME THAT WE TRIED - INCLUDING GENIUS BAR.
    HERE'S WHAT I DID:
1-LAST NIGHT I GOT RID OF QUICKTIME AND REINSTALLED.
(TRIED THEN TO RUN MY ITUNES "PROTECTED" BUT TO NO AVAIL....SO FRUSTRATION RESURFACED)
THEN DAVID JD SENT ME A THREAD THAT LED ME TO EXPLORE FURTHER (THANKS MAN!)
2-TODAY, AFTER READING THE LATEST THREADS AT SUBMITTED BELOW, I DOWNLOADED THE LATEST VERSION OF ITUNES....VOILA! I ONLY HAD TO REAUTHORIZE ONCE FOR EACH ACCOUNT (2) AND NOW I'M BACK IN TUNE.
(BUT REMEMBER I DID THIS AFTER DOING A REINSTALL OF QUICKTIME; WE HAD DONE A REINSTALL OF ITUNES AT THE GENIUS BAR BUT THAT HAD NOT WORKED THEN)

PS: I DID NOT, REPEAT 'NOT' UNINSTALL THE PREVIOUS ITUNES. I JUST DOWNLOADED OVER IT. GOOD LUCK ALL.

  • ITunes asking for authorization

iTunes will sometimes say that my MacBook Pro is no longer authorized for apps that are installed on my iPhone.
When I do authorize; it shows the message that my computer is already authorized for items purchased on my iPhone.
Any ideas to how I can get this to stop happening?

Delete it and then redownload it.

    Hey megatony87,
Thanks for the question. I understand you are having authorization issues with a purchased album on your computer. The following article may help to resolve your issue:

  • TS1717 authorized cumputer asks for authorization then say it is authorized, will not play music

When I try to play a song, it asks for authorization, then I authorize it, the message then read already authoized, so then go to play it asks for authorization...Do you have any clues?

it occurs with just some songs. I purchased 2 albums and only 1 song on each will play. the other ones get the authorization message.
Okay. If only a couple of the tracks are throwing that message, that suggests that the tracks are damaged.
If your country's iTunes Store allows you to redownload purchased tracks, I'd delete your current copies of the dodgy tracks and try redownloading fresh copies. For instructions, see the following document:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Otherwise, I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.
Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
Find the items that are not playing properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the items, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" links next to the items.

  • Since downloading 11.0.1 (12), Itunes can't locate or play many songs but the same songs still play on my synched iPod.

Since downloading Itunes 11.0.1 (12), Itunes can't locate or play many songs but the same songs still play on my synched iPod. I have a MacBook Air, Lion OS, Itunes version 11.0.1 (12).  I didn't see this problem with older versions of Itunes.  I do not manually change the organization of the Itunes library.  I use the Itunes "add to library" feature or Amazon's MP3 downloader.  Sometimes, however, I have changed song information in the "info" window.  Such as unchecking the "compilation" button and sorting by artist (for that song), so that I can search by artist in the top pane of Itunes (otherwise the song is sorted in an album that is a "compilation," but not under the name of the artist who sang a particular song.  I've done this without problem in the past, but perhaps the newer version of Itunes can't handle the changes I made and has lost track of where the older version of Itunes stored such songs?    How do I fix all these older previously ok changes if that's the case...  If I could just find where they are stored in Itunes it would be easier perhaps.  I've looked in compilations, unknown artist, and so forth to no avail.  And Finder search can't find them.
Details: suddenly, many songs are marked with "!," denoting that Itunes cannot find the songs in the library and cannot play them. Oddly, my iPod CAN play the "unlocatable" songs with no problem (it has been synched "post problem").  So the songs are still there somewhere in the Itunes library.  This problem occurs by album, that is, all songs from the same album become unlocatable, although different albums by the same artist may still be found and played.
Exploring the Itunes library to try to locate the missing albums/songs, I discovered that generally there is no longer any folder specified for any artist associated with a missing album [artist is the top level of organization and album is the second; compilations are in the same folder]. This is true even if I have other albums from the same artist which Itunes IS able to locate.  I cannot find a single song/album by such artists anywhere in the Itunes file system, even the ones that Itunes can still play.  If I right click and "get info" for an unlocatable song, I get a notification box that asks if I want to locate the file.  If I click "no," next thing-- the info window for the song pops up, with all the correct info (including sort info, which I double check)!  Why is Itunes able to locate all the info on the song, but is not able to play the MP3 file?
Using Finder I cannot locate the songs that are unlocatable by Itunes (except the original download files in the Amazon MP3 folder).  Finder is, of course, able to find Itunes songs that Itunes has no trouble locating.  What's up?!  My iPod can find them just fine.  I just synched my iPod again and am playing the "unlocatable" songs right now.
I can "fix" most of these files by downloading files one by one into Itunes from my Amazon download folder or from my CDs using the "add to library" feature. In fact, it is strange.  But this will take a very long time!  And what if this problem continues recurring?   But something strange happens when I implement this fix.  I added one song to Itunes (from the Amazon MP3 folder, using "add to library") for one "unlocatable" album of Pete Seegers. After adding that one song, I looked at the Itunes music library and discovered that a folder for Pete Seeger (which was not there before I added the song) had been newly created, or restored.  In this folder was the one song I had just added, but ALSO all my other Seeger albums that had previously remained "locatable" by Itunes.  But the other "unlocatable" songs were not restored, unfortunately.

I have found a workaround. When I create a new playlist, iTunes allows me to add or remove songs from existing playlists for a short while. Then, for some reason it prevents me from adding and deleting songs again. Not sure why. Go figure.

  • I've authorized my iPhone on a Mac but when I go to play videos it asks for authorization again, only to tell me that I have authorized too many computers. Help!

So I used my work Mac to authorize my iPhone so I can play music, but now that I want to play a movie it asks for authorization. I've already authorized that account! I don't understand why it's asking for authorization again when I want to play a movie. Plus, I can't access the iTunes store from my work computer, so I'm stuck until I go home to deauthorize my other computers. Why is this happening?

Authorization does not apply to iphones.  Authorization is for computers.

  • New purchased song repeatedly asks for authorization

So I try to play a song I just downloaded, and it says, "requires authorization to play this song", so I put in user name and password, but it then says I'm already authorized.   I try again to play the song, and it goes back to, "requires authorization to play this song", and repeats this cycle.

  • Itunes says its going to ask for authorization password but that window doesnt pop up

please help. The problem is that when it says itunes will open and ask for authorization, itunes window doesn't pop up.

Since installing Windows 7 there have been some weird goings on with my laptop.
I kept muddling around with this and ran a few diagnostics only to find that everything was fine. There was an incompatibility problem with Windows 7 and Firefox (safe mode) which I cared for by simply agreeing with everything Windows 7 wanted to do. It made an adjustment and apparently between the two programs they worked it out.
I tried downloading Firefox 4 beta one more time...using a fresh download in my Firefox browser and from the Firefox webpage. Oddly, this time the program downloaded saved itself to my laptop. I was able to open and install it without incident.
Now, I am all sync'd up!
Thank you very much for your assistance

  • ITunes keeps asking for authorization and won't close

I have been having trouble with iTunes ever since I upgraded to Mountain Lion.  iTunes will open and repeatedly ask for authorization.  I've tried resetting the authorization, using terminal to do it, deleting folders, etc.  I would like to try and uninstall iTunes, but I cannot get iTunes to close. Not even force quit will cause it to stay closed long enough to delete it and reinstall it.  Then there's the problem where it appears to have lost my library completely...which may be part of this issue or a separate issue.  Considering it started at the same time, I'm guessing it's just another facet of the issue.  I'd love to just reinstall iTunes, but I can't get it to not open and/or close.  I am about ready to throw the MacBook in the garbage, because this is the sort of problems I expect with Windows, not Apple.  Any ideas would be appreciated to save my laptop and sanity.

here is the fix..it worked for me

  • I connected my iphone 3g to itunes which was in 4.1 firmware and itunes ask for an update which i downloaded an updated the phone to version 6.1.3 but my phone cannot start it shows no service my sim card is not getting network and i cannot use the phone.

i connected my iphone 3g to itunes which was in 4.1 firmware and itunes ask for an update which i downloaded an updated the phone to version 6.1.3 but my phone cannot start it shows no service my sim card is not getting network and i cannot use the phone. what should i do.?

First, you do not have a 3G if you could upgrade it to 6.1.3, because 4.2.1 is the last version that will work on the 3G. So you either have a 3GS or you somehow hacked the phone to install an incompatible version. You can check the model you have by entering your serial number here: https://selfsolve.apple.com/agreementWarrantyDynamic.do
Assuming you have a 3GS the most likely reason for your problem is you have a gray market phone that was hacked or jailbroken to unlock it. When you upgraded it you removed the hack, so the phone is now locked to its original carrier.

  • How do i get itunes or any other program for ipod to play one song and then stop instead of contiuing playing. I need it to be in the same playlist and ready to play the next song when I press play?

how do i get itunes or any other program for ipod to play one song and then stop instead of contiuing playing. I need it to be in the same playlist and ready to play the next song when I press play?

Good luck.  I tried to do this to cue sound effects for a theater, and never found anything.  iTunes will definitely *not* do this, nor was I able to find any player that would play one song at a time in a single playlist.
In my case, I ended up using AutoHotkey to tie individual tracks to the keys on an external keypad. This was an excellent solution for my problem, but I don't think AHK runs on Macs.
One workaround is to make a folder, and fill it with *shortcuts* to the songs you want (ie, the actual files).  You can change the names to start with numbers to get them in the right order.  Then if you double-click on one it will play just that song.  You'll still have to double-click on each song.
Might be a good time to learn AppleScript   It would  also be pretty easy to write a Java app to do this.

  • HT1349 I downloaded the latest version of iTunes and now I cannot play the songs in order, they skip around randomly. The shuffle feature is off. All I really want to do is play an album from start to finish.

I downloaded the latest version of iTunes and now I cannot play the songs in order. It will skip around or just stop playing the song currently playing when it is finished. I just want to play an album from start to finish. The shuffle feature is turned off.

It is working now. I no longer get the message about the item not being available in the US and I can access the store.

Itunes asks the authorize my computer before downloading how do i do s

There's a couple of ways to get through to the authorisation controls in the 11.0.x versions.
The control is still in the Store menu, but first (if you're using iTunes versions 11.0.x) you might need to bring up the menu bar to see the Store menu.
If you're using 11.0.x, click on the wee boxy icon up in the top-left corner of your iTunes to see the "Show Menu Bar" control, as per the following screenshot:
Then you'll find the control in the Store menu:
Alternatively, if you don't want to bring up the menu bar, it's still possible to get into the authorise controls via nested menus accessible from the wee boxy icon. Here's a screenshot of where to find them:
