ITunes asking for password to old Apple ID

I had to delete my e mail address as it was hacked. Because of this, I needed to change my Apple ID information. I set up a new Apple ID and deleted my old one, however when I am trying to update any apps, iTunes askes for the password to my old ID and yet I've changed iCloud and everything. I can't change my e mail back as it's deleted. It's quite frustrating as I need apps for school work but cannt use them until I have updated them. Help would be REALLY appreciated!! P.S Please keep it simple! Thanks!

Apps are permanently tied to the ID used to purchase them.  Have you tried providing the password for your old ID to update the apps?

  • Phone keeps asking for password on an Apple ID I never created.  Won't reset password.  Never get email.  Birthdate incorrect.  What do I do?

Phone keeps asking for password on an Apple ID I never created.  On my sons phone, it keeps asking for his password for a supposed Apple ID I NEVER CREATED!  I've tried every combination of passwords I can imagine and every route I can think of.  It won't let me delete the account until I can sign in with that password.  Somehow, the find my iPhone has created a loop that won't let me do anything after loading ios7.   It won't even let me delete all contents or settings without the password!  When I ask for it to reset my password, no email comes....  I don't know what to do!  Please help

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iTunes account on your iOS device, you need to sign out of the account from your iOS device first, then sign back using your updated details. (Settings > store, scroll down and tap your ID)

  • ITunes asking for password varification when videos are playing

Is there a setting that can be changed in iTunes? When I am watching movies on my iMac iTunes will pop up a message stating "check for downloads please enter password" I press cancel and get back to my movie 1-2 min later the same pop up appears and re appears untill I enter the password and then it asks again. I have run anti-virus software on my computer (though I don't see why I had to it is brand new I got it 1 week ago) no viruses. I took it to the apple store and they took a look at it and could not find any virus. So what is going on!!? I thought with the new update to OS X 10.8.3 I tunes would ask for password once and never again while it was running. I get asked for a password varification at least 6 times when I am purchasing from the iTunes store or downloading new content or updating my library. ***!!! I don't mind varifying my password when I am purchasing but when I am watching a movie iTunes needs to turn the **** off!

  • After booting itunes asks for password ..

only on my mini i7 itunes always asks for password, very anoying ..
thankfull for any ideas to solve this.
    (all other macs no problem)

Sounds like you encrypted your iPhone backup. If you did, a password is required to restore the information to iPhone(the one you entered when you checked the box to encrypt your backup). If you encrypt an iPhone backup in iTunes and then forget your password, you will not be able to restore from backup and your data will be unrecoverable. If you cannot remember the password and want to start again, you will have to do a full software restore and when prompted by iTunes to select the backup to restore from, choose Set up as a new device.

  • ITunes asking for Password over and over, wont open, won't quit

Hi All... My MAC is Driving me mad, please help!!!!
I'm pretty sure this is a Cookie problem from some of the other threads I've found and because it started shortly after insaling "Safari Cookie" - which I have now removed.
    Senario is;
If I dare to open iTunes 10.6 (latest one) it will open ok then ask for my Apple ID and PW which I enter again and again and again... sometime with a Remember box (which I tick) and sometimes not.
I have persisted with this wondering whether it will have an end when maybe all of my DL songs are individualy recognised perhaps, but after pasting it in well over 100 times I gave up.  I've also tried Cancelling the request but it just keeps asking me over and over untill it crashes.
On one thread I saw that it could be because the something in the way iTune Store's PW are formated/storeage/processed has changed and I should go to to the iTunes store and reset my PW, but if I attempt to open the iTunes Store iTunes crashes - evertime so I can't do it.  I did manage to reset it by clicking Forgot PW but after changing it no it made diference.
Inscidentally, when it does crash, it reopens whether I click "reopen" or not.  If I quit, it reopens, if I fource close, it reopens.  To reboot I have to Restart, Force Close, Force Close Force Close untill the Restart App gets to close when Itunes is in it's DownTime of the loop.
Just thought of something odd too.... after doing the PW change online, I tried entering the new one (over and over for a while) and then looked at the keychain and it still contained the old PW.
I've tried reinsalling iTunes, deleting all cookies and the Keychain PW (not the certificate as I'm worried I'll loose my perchased stuff?). Changing PW in Apple.com, changing Cookie settings in Safari to "accept all", used Onyx to repair boot and done all the automated maintainance/cleaning/permissions.
I can't think of any other useful info... but ask anything you need to know and please help if think you can!!
    Thanks
    James

  • Keychain asks for password to old mac?

When I install/reinstall OSX on my computer, and afterwards sync my keychain with the backup on mobileme, I'm asked for the password on my old iMac. I guess this is because some entries where created on this machine, but is there anyway to permanently cancel this association? Maybe it's due to the keys in my login keychain – what is the risk of deleting these entries – what do they do?

You're right, it's because of the keychain entries from the old machine being unlocked.
It's a two step process to fix that: if you want to make it so only your new, fresh keychain is on MobileMe, you want to reset the Keychain sync data, and replace what's on MobileMe with what's in your new OS X installation. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1497 has some good instructions on where to find those settings.

  • ITunes asking for password to unlock backup file?

I am upgrading my iPhone 4 to iOS 5. I backed up my phone (via iTunes 10.5) and downloaded and installed iOS 5. I am now going through the setup process and it is at the "Restore from iTunes Backup" step. I connect to iTunes and iTunes is prompting me for a password to "unlock your iPhone backup file." No I did not encrypt the iPhone backup, nor is it or was it checked in iTunes. I have tried my iTunes password, my 4 digit unlock code for the iPhone, and several other passwords. When I did the backup an hour ago I was not asked for a password. I am at a loss as to what it is.

Well I finally got through with the correct password. For some reason it was the original iTunes password I had setup when I first got the iPhone 4 and iTunes 17 months ago. I had changed that password soon after creating it and have since changed it several times. Somehow it popped into my head and after trying hundreds (no I'm not kidding) of passwords, success!
It is important to point out:
When I have performed previous upgrades to the iOS I have never been prompted for a password when restoring the data.
I have never checked the box in iTunes to encrypt the iPhone backup.
I still have no idea what made iTunes go back to an ancient password.
Good luck to all if you have to go through this because this has not been a fun few days.
Let me add a suggestion that I have come up with for storing passwords where you can access them from anywhere. Setup a Yahoo or Hotmail account with all fake information (Name, address, b-day, etc.) with a “handle/name/email address” that has nothing to do with you but you can recall. In other words, you are setting up an anonymous email account. In this email account, create an email to the same account and put your passwords in it but do not include the accounts/websites they are for. You could include hints (that only you could recognize/decipher) that would tell you which accounts/websites went with which passwords.
This will just be a list of passwords so at least you have a master list somewhere and not stored on your computer(s)/drive(s). Just an idea I wanted to share.

  • Itunes Ask for Password

I have previously downloaded apps on my iPod and deleted them because I've given my sister my iPod. How do I make the App Store ask for my password when she downloads apps? This is because previously installed apps don't ask for your password, they just say install. Any help would be appreciated.

No I mean like, I want her to download apps, but she has to come to me to enter a password. But say, like Facebook, I had that previously installed. I deleted it off her iPod, but if she wants to download it she can go to the app store and just click Install, it won't ask for my password because I installed it before. How do I stop that.

  • Can't update apps.  Ipad asking for password to old email address

I I'd updated my email address several months ago.  The App Store app worked fine.  Now all of a sudden it's asking me to log in using the old email address and wants the old password.  In settings for both the App Store and iTunes are correct.  I can sign out and sign in from the settings menu but cannot update my apps through the App Store app itself.  This just started today.  How do I fix this?

IIf you got the app with your old email you can not change it, you need to update it with your old one. If you get any app with one email you can only use one email. Even if you log into your new email from itunes( scroll under and click on the email and sign out and log in with new email) it still won't let you do it with your other email. Sorry. You can not use different emails for some things.      You can go to settings-iTunes and AppStore- update apps( it means it will automatically update apps) it does work, but uses a lot of battery usage. I hve had it on for a long time but I don't mind.   hope this helped.

  • HT2731 when i restore my ipod itunes asked for password but i forgot it how to know my password or get back it.

    help me

Only you will know your backup password, it's not stored anywhere and nobody else can tell you what it is. From http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4946 (which applies iPod Touches as well) :
Warning: If you encrypt an iPhone backup in iTunes and then forget your password, you will not be able to restore from backup and your data will be unrecoverable. If you forget the password, you can continue to back up and use the device, however you will not be able to restore the encrypted backup to any device without the password. You do not need to enter the password for your backup each time you back up or sync.
If you cannot remember the password and want to start again, you must perform a full software restore and when iTunes prompts you to select the backup from which to restore, choose set up as a new device.

  • I wanted to update 6 apps. but iTunes asked for the password of my old Apple ID. Now, I can't get into iTunes., I wanted to update 6 apps. but iTunes asked for the password of my old Apple ID. Now, I can't get into iTunes.

When I opened my App Store today, I found 6 apps needing update.  I clicked “Update All” and there popped “Sign in to iTunes Store” and asked me to enter the Apple ID password for <my account>.  I entered my password for the Apple ID but it said “Your Apple ID or password is incorrect.” Since I entered incorrect passwords many times, I had to reset my password two times already.  I want to update the apps on my phone. But, I can’t , and this is tiring, exhausting, and frustrating.  My questions: (1) Why is iTunes asking for a password for an old account  when I changed that already? (2) What to do now - Do I sign out of iTunes, delete the account and create a new one?

We are fellow users here on these user-to-user forums, you're not talking to iTunes Support nor Apple - I've asked the hosts to remove your email addresses from your post (it's not a good idea to post personal info on any public forum).
Is the old account a completely different iTunes account, or is it just a previous primary email address on the same account ? If it's a different account then all content that you download from the store is tied to the account that downloaded it, so only that old account will be able to download updates to its apps.
If it's the same account, just a previous primary email address, then what id shows at the bottom of the Featured tab in the App Store app on your phone ? You could try tapping on that and log out of it and then log back in with the updated version and see what id then shows for updates.

When trying to update  Apps in iTunes on my computer my old Apple ID appears, which is no longer in use and has no password; even when I try to create a password for this Old ID, Apple won't let me. When I go into see my Account settings My new Apple ID / iTunes ID are listed and the passwords are correct obviously so why can't I update my Apps?   Why does my Old apple ID keep appearing and how can I get Apple to change this?

I have the same problem - it is maddening. I rely on this iPad for work so this is not just an annoyance! The above solutions of changing the appleid on the device or on the website do not work.
The old email address no longer exists - I haven't used it in a year probably and I no longer have the account.  I logged into the appleid website and there is no trace of the old email address so there is nothing that can be deleted or changed there.  On the iPad there is no trace of the old email address so nothing can be deleted there either. I have updated the iPad software and the same problem comes right back.  Every 2 seconds I am asked to log in using the old non-existent email.  The device is currently useless.
The only recent change to anything was the addition of an Apple TV device, which was set up using the correct login and password.
Does anyone have any ideas? The iPad has been backed up to the iCloud so presumably it now won't recognize the current iCloud account? So restoring may notbe an option?
