ITunes Authorization Error

I've read all the posts about the authorization error when trying to place a song from iTunes into iMovie. I've tried all the suggestions on both my computers (G5 iMac & MacBook) with no success. All software is up to date and I reloaded iTunes 7.2 onto my MacBook. File Permissions have been updated numerous times and I've even zapped the PRAM.
I'm starting this thread to keep it up front in case Apple reads the posts. Anyone else having this problem, go ahead and post it to keep it alive until we get a solution.
I'm subscribed to all the related threads in hopes of a solution. So far, no joy.

I have had the exact same problems as stated. Repeated prompts to "authorize" use of iTunes both in the iMovie itself and again if iDVD is attempted. If the process was done(authorizing) for each song in DVD and the DVD burned, then some songs were placed in the soundtrack and others not. This also happens if I try to burn a DVD of an old movie project which had been done months agao and created and burned without problem. Some music purchased from iTunes store and others not. It doesn't seem to matter where the music comes from to get into the iTunes. The other prompt I've seen after reinstalling QuickTime 7.2 is that there was a "warning" about the project and that it should be fixed prior to burning DVD. The support people I've talked with have been very nice, but it seems that no one has a fix I'm aware of yet (8/1/07). Interestingly I have done a test movie in the last 48 hrs and the movie allowed song placement, editiing and saving project all OK. Playback on computer OK. DVD attempt and the warning appears, I did not attempt to go further.
As frustrated as the rest. Hopefull for fix soon. It used to work well only a few months ago. / Thanks and share fix if you get one

ITune Authorization Error

I just opened iTunes and tried listening to a song in my library. A window opened that said there was an authorization error (-42408) and I couldn't access any of my iTunes purchases. What's up with that?

I just got off the phone with 2 different Apple Care support folks. Here's what we did to get things running. Restart your computer. Reopen iTunes. Go to Store, then Deauthorize, and deauthorize your iTunes. Once you do that, go to Store again, Authorize, and authorize your iTunes again. Worked like a charm.

Itunes authorization error when attempting to burn idvd file

The software updates should take care of it, but I got this help from the ilife team at Apple. If you encounter "your computer is not authorized to play this song" error messages when trying to burn an idvd movie, it may be because the file contains music you downloaded from itunes. This fixed everything: Go to the apple.com and go to the apple store. Go to "Account." Go to "Change 1-click settings." Make sure 1-click setting is turned on. Then go to the itunes store though the itunes page, and authorize 1-click ordering and ensure that all of your account information is correct in the itunes store.
That fixed all of my issues.

alright, i added new ram, so i am running 2 gigs now, tried again...failed. i get all the way to burn and a popup comes up saying burning finished errors found during the burning process, i click ok and the burning wheel is still turning and i need to force quit to get out of idvd. i might go crazy, so any help is appreciated.

IDVD-Error-itunes authorization

I have an odd problem that I never had before. I made a slideshow of old slides on my parents' iMac. I made a quicktime file and started burning it onto dvds with iDVD.
I decided to put the file onto my laptop as well so I can burn twice as many DVD's (they are for gifts for family).
However, when I use put create an iDVD project on my laptop, I get this message from itunes saying I am not authorized to use this video. When I go into iTunes to authorize, the message is still there in iDVD.
It still lets me preview the DVD and it plays fine so I tried to burn it but it gives me an error. Why the heck does itunes think it claim my video that I made?
Any suggestions?

I suspect the disc image proposal won't solve the iTunes re athorization issue. But if it does work, please let us know.
The way I work around iTunes authorization, is to first make a CD of that audio I wish to use and then import as an aiff into iMovie or iDvd (otherwise you may have the very same issue arise each time you attempt to play it on a different laptop (other than the one it was originally authored on).

The single download means that you won't be able to redownload it from the store without paying, either on a computer's iTunes or an iOS device - it doesn't stop you from copying the audiobook to your other computers or syncing it to your iOS devices, you just can't redownload it. (I believe that they are all supplied to Apple by audible.com, so I assume that it's them requiring the one-time download.)
You can download audiobooks on your computer's iTunes and sync them to iOS devices, you do not have to buy them directly on the device (if you do then you can copy them back to your computer's iTunes library by connecting the device and using the File > Devices > Transfer Purchases menu option on your computer's iTunes).
What you are doing to sync them should work i.e.
- connecting the iPad to your Mac
- selecting the iPad on your Mac's iTunes
- selecting its Books tab and selecting the audiobooks that you want to sync to the iPad and syncing/applying that selection.
You should then get an audiobooks option in the Music app on your iPad. If they aren't appearing there then do they show in Settings > General > Usage > Music on the device - if you have audiobooks on the iPad then they should be listed there under an 'audiobooks' heading.
By 'restart the iPad' do you mean a soft-reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
You could also try closing its Music app via the iPad's taskbar : Force an app to close in iOS.
And do a soft-reset and retry syncing.
I assume that music and other items sync ok ?

Itunes radio error

when I try to play a radio station I get the following error. I am using the most recent itunes released today.
"We could not complete your iTunes store request. You are not authorized to access the requested resource."
Radio works on my iphone.

I find that I can intentionally and repeatably cause this error on my mac by resetting Safari. Apparently part of the iTunes store authorization information is stored in the databases that Safari clears when ordered to "Reset Safari," probably because iTunes makes use of Safari to display the store (which is really just a web page with some extra button widgets thrown in the mix). Either reauthorizing the computer or signing into the iTunes Store again will fix the authorization issue until I reset Safari again, at which point iTunes will finish out playing the current iTunes Radio song and then refuse to play the next song, giving the same authorization error as before.
Steps to reproduce error:
1) Play iTunes radio.
2) Reset Safari (in Safari: "Safari" menu > "Reset Safari"; check all boxes and hit the "Reset" button)
3) Wait for current song on iTunes radio to finish. ITunes Radio will refuse to play the next song.
That said, I find that without resetting Safari, I never encounter this error, and iTunes Radio otherwise continues to play. One way around the problem would be to surf the web in Firefox or Chrome instead of Safari. I find that unpalatable, because I prefer Safari (de gustibus non est disputandum).

Authorization error when syncing apps from iphone to mac, mac to iphone

I am having this error with both apps I've synced from my iPhone to my Mac, and one I purchased from ITunes (which as a side problem, I can not sync to my iPhone no matter what I try). I have one iTunes account and it is the same on my computer and on my iPhone. However, the one I bought on my mac I can't authorize on my computer, and I can't sync some back because I get this same error message (I have all the latest software on phone and Mac):
THERE WAS AN ERROR STORING YOUR AUTHORIZATION INFORMATION ON THIS COMPUTER
The required directory was not found or has a permission error. Correct this permissions problem and try again, or deauthorize this computer if the permissions can not be changed.
Is this just becuase these apps aren't made to USE on a computer? Because that would make sense. I'm just worried it has something to do with the app I purchased on ITunes not syncing back to my iPhone.

I created a new user on my macbook and tried to authorize the computer but got the same authorization error. This doesn't have to do with the fact that I have once used a different iTunes account? (not since I have had the iPhone. I have tried to figure out how to delete this but it looks as if apple doesn't want me to.) Plus, it's the same email as my dot mac which I've ALSO been having trouble with the past few months-- it keeps resetting on its own and my keychain and iphone can't get into it. online chat has not solved the problem so i decided to just let it expire...

HT1925 Itunes reinstall error 2404 missing component

I removed and reinstalled Itunes. got all the way to the end and it is stuck at Status about 2 bars from the end. I opened C programs & see Itunes & others, Bonjour and Apple Software Updates. really all im trying to do is access my itunes account use sync phone, ipod from my desktop PC. Problem solved.
1. Download and install WinRAR (or 7-Zip)
2. Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe icon and choose "Open with WinRAR" (or 7-Zip).
3. Once the EXE is opened in WinRAR, double-click AppleApplicationSupport.msi and when the installer window is open choose "Repair". (In my case, it didn't even ask to repair, it just installed it.

Authorization error while attaching document in ME22N

Hi,
Scenario 1: I attach a document in ME22N and then save it. Result: I get an authorization error.
Error is: "You have no authorization for extensions (activity03)"
Scenario 2: I just make a change (say in price) without attaching any document and then when i try to save it. Result: There is no authorization error.
Message (output) type in both the cases is EDI.
On further investigation, we found the authority-check abap statement which is responsible for throwing the error.

            id 'EDI_DOC' DUMMY

pi_cimtyp = Z2ORDERS02

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it, which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

ITunes Installation Error Message?

I recently had to install an update for iTunes. After the update was installed, I was promted by an error message that "iTunes was not installed correctly", and that I needed to reinstall iTunes. Once I completed the process of uninstalling iTunes, I began to reinstall iTunes. After the reinstallation process, I was then prompted by another error message that had said, "iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes. Error 7 (Windows error 126)." I have continued to receive this error prompt every time that I have attempted to reinstall iTunes. I have even followed troublshooting procedures on this Apple Support page: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1926 and still have not had any luck. Is there anyone that can help me with this please?

Check for .dll files
Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes and C:\Program Files\iTunes and look for .dll files.
If you find QTMovie.DLL, or any other .dll files, move them to the desktop.
Reboot your computer.
Note: Depending on your operating system, you may only have one of the listed paths.
Uninstall and reinstall iTunes
Uninstall iTunes and all of its related components.
Reboot your computer. If you can't uninstall a piece of Apple software, try using the Microsoft Program Install and Uninstall Utility.
Re-download and reinstall iTunes 11.1.4.

Authorization Error on Peoplesoft Login Page

Hi, this is related to the previous project we are still working on.

While we have found that our approach have been successful in Dev and Test Environments, once we migrated the changes to Production, it seem to have stoppped working. Our client wants to test the link from Test Environment and would Single Sign On to the Production environment. But we are getting this eror, Authorization Error -- Contact your Security Administrator on the Peoplesoft login page when the link is clicked from the Third Party website.
The node setup for Dev, Test and Prod environments under Node Definitions are using PSFT_CR as the default local node and are all working when ping'ed. The defaut user that is used for allowing public access in the Web Profile are setup'ed just the same in all three environments, and application/web servers have been restarted as well.
One thing we noticed is that the url of the third party website is http and the url for the PS prod is https. Could this be the one causing the error, or have we missed something on the setup.
Again, we appreciate your insights regarding this.
