ITunes authorization limit

Hey I have maxed out my authorization limit and the computers that I originally put it on don't exist anymore how can I get this reset without Jakob a new account because i don't have the money to make a new one. I don't want to reset the entire account I just want to reset the maximum number of authorization limit because I have a couple of expencive apps that I bought.

Why would you want to authorize a computer that does not work?
Agaijn, deauthorize all and then authorize the active computers.

  • Possible to reset authorization limit?

Would one of you be kind enough to help a geezer? I'm flummoxed by this "authorization / deauthorization" business.
I know that you're supposed to deauthorize iTunes before getting a new computer. However, I've never had the opportunity to do this because every one of my laptops died suddenly and without warning.
This past week I had to send my laptop to Dell for repairs. When I got the laptop back, iTunes wouldn't synch with my iPod until I reauthorized the laptop. So I reauthorized.
Afterwards, iTunes spit up a message saying that I was now authorized on FOUR out of a permissable FIVE computers. Mind you, I've never owned more than one laptop at a time, and since all my other authorized laptops are dead and gone, there's no question of deauthorizing them.
    So my question is:
With only one authorization left before iTunes stops authorizing, is there a way to reset iTunes so that I can continue authorizing beyond my five-computer lifetime limit? What if I live to be 80? That's four more laptops!
    Thanks kindly for your help.

After digging through the forums, I found this link:

Sounds like I can "deathorize all computers associated with my Apple ID," thereby resetting my authorization limit.
Will give it a shot, and come back if I have any problems.
    Thanks anyway!

  • How can I reset the countings of maximum authorization limit?

Please advise how to reset the maximum authorization limit for ADE. Thanks.

Options for when an iOS device gets locked because of forgotten password:
Restore (and reset password) on your device by connecting it to the last computer to which it was connected:
iTunes: Backing up, updating, and restoring iOS software - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
If you cannot connect it to the computer to which the device was last connected you will have to use recovery mode to completely reset the device, losing all data:
iOS: Unable to update or restore - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808 - recovery mode (e.g., cannot connect to computer last used to sync device, iTunes still asks for a password)

  • My itunes authorization has been upgraded 5 times what do i do about the 6th upgrade

I have used my 5 authorization limit on my itunes.  I want to build a new Win7 PC and need to authorize a 6th computer.  Will that be a problem?

Again, deauthorize all.  The authorize the active computer.
Deauthorize all is an option when deauthorizing.

  • ITunes Authorization on Bootcamp

For some reason, even though this is technically the same computer, iTunes needs to be authorized on Windows 7 Bootcamp, even though it is already authorized on Mac OS X. I don't use Windows 7 often, only for a few games that they don't make for OS X. However, it is highly annoying to have to use up all your authorizations on just one computer. Especially considering I'm at school and I've got computers back at home that are authorized, so it's not like I can just unauthorize them, they have to be authorized.

I think that my Mac Pro is uniquely identifiable** to iTunes
As I said previously, to the iTunes server, it's two _instances of the *+iTunes app*+_: one on OSX and another on Windows. It is no different than if the app were running on two separate computers. If you want Apple to modify the way the iTunes authorization system works, let them know your thoughts on the feedback page I linked to previously.
...but if disk failure takes out 2 Windows and 1 Mac OS
Since you are relying on _+one hard drive+_ for the multiple "computers", this makes backups that much more important.
Forgetting, or not even knowing that disable account must be done before a reinstall is necessary
is not excuseable. I am at 5 of 5 now and expect to lose iTunes access (through no fault of my own) in the near future, to the music that I paid for.
You can deauthorize all computers when you reach the limit of 5, even if your don't have access to the original computers. (i.e.: hard drive failure.)
[About iTunes Store authorization and deauthorization|http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1420]
So if you have a proper backup of your iTunes library (or libraries), then even a full disk failure is not the end of the world. Just deauthorize all, if necessary. Not the most elegant method, but far from the doom-and-gloom that you're making it into. The important thing is *+_HAVE A PROPER BACKUP OF YOUR ITUNES LIBRARY!!+_* For example:

  • HT1420 I use two MacBook pro, two iPads and two iPhones. Upon connection and attempt to synchronize photos I receive a message that my authorization limit is exceeded. I read that iOS devices do not count against the authorization limit.

I use two MacBook pro, two iPads and two iPhones. Upon connection and attempt to synchronize photos I receive a message that my authorization limit is exceeded. I read that iOS devices do not count against the authorization limit. One iPhone and one iPad show in the authorization list. iTunes wants to delete my purchased programs and books from the iPad to continue synchronization. What can I do?

Ok, now I do wish I could edit....
I forgot to APPLY the network settings for the USB cable to work. Connected thru USB I can tether.
So, I kept playing, and playing some more...
I had previously unpaired everything, and gone as far as removing network devices HOWEVER...
I didn't remove the Ethernet, Firewire or Airport Network devices.
Now, I have done so. I REMOVED EVERYTHING
    No pairing, no network devices.
Bluetooth was already turned off, and I rebooted.
I turned off tethering and rebooted the iphone.
I turned on bluetooth (on the MBP), I turned on tethering. I browsed for the iphone. It said I was already paired???? Ok, repair AGAIN, and THE IPHONE SHOWED MY BLUETOOTH TETHERING BLUE BAR at the top of the screen!
I opened a web page, no go... d4mn, I was close...
Opened network preferences and the created a new bluetooth PAN and voila! Internet back on the MBP. I am about to reinstall the ethernet and airport (I can live without firewire for now) and see what happens.
Basically, the link I posted two posts ago, I had already done that, but I NEEDED to remove ethernet, firewire and airport as well...
So MAYBE it's fixed, we'll see for how long. I'm not going to mark this as answered for now, because basically, it has failed for no reason, and I want to know why...
Hopefully someone can come up with something, but having to delete and reinstall all pairings and network devices (to me) is not really a solution, it's a workaround (at best).

  • Authorization limit

I have an iMac, a mac pro and a laptop all with iTunes.
I have just recently noticed that my main computer will not play downloaded songs, telling me I have reached my authorization limit (5).
I have installed a new OS on one computer without de-authorizing, and now have 2 iPads in addition to 2 iPods which sync to that computer.
Do the iPod/iPads count as extra computers, or can I simply de-authorize all and start again.

Ipad/ipods/iphones do NOT count, only computers.
You can deauthorize all and the authorize the active computers.

If your computer is not currently authorized to play your previous
account name's purchases, when you double-click an item you
purchased before you renamed the account, the authorization dialog
may show the old account name. If this happens, you will need to
remove the old account name from the account name field, type the
new account name, and click Authorize. This authorizes your computer
    to play the account's purchases.
If you are unsure about which account was used to purchase a
    particular item, follow these steps:
    1) Control-click (or right-click) the item in your iTunes Library.
    2) Choose Get Info from the menu that appears.
    3) Click the Summary tab. The account name will be listed on the
    right.
If you need further assistance in locating the current account name,
please reply with the account name listed in your items' Summary
tab. In addition, please include the order number for those items if
    possible.

  • HT1420 Possibility to use 1 Computer - configured with 2 user accounts - each account uses a different Apple-ID for iTunes authorization ?

I wonder if it is possible to use 1 Computer (Macbook Pro)
    - configured with 2 (ore even more) user accounts (i.e. me + my kid)
    - and each user account has a different Apple-ID (account) for iTunes purchases & iTunes authorization ?
I woud think that is fine in terms of the underlying license agreement refereing to re-download purchased movies, shows, apps, etc.
However, it seams that there is that miraculous 90 days restriction, which I don't understand, and which allows me only to "authorise" the Computer under one or the other account. The switch is unfortunatelly only possible every 90 days ?!?
    Thanks anybody for help
    Oliver

The 90 day association doesn't stop you authorising an account, it only stops you from using another account for iTunes Match or automatic downloads or redownloading its past purchases : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4627
There are a few methods listed on this page for how you could do it e.g. multiple user acounts, same iTunes but you having separate playlists, separate iTunes libraries : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1495

  • Automated script for setting authorization limit in GL

    Hi,

I have found another way to achieve this. By inserting the data directly to GL_AUTHORIZATION_LIMITS table.
    INSERT INTO gl.GL_AUTHORIZATION_LIMITS

  • IDVD-Error-itunes authorization

I have an odd problem that I never had before. I made a slideshow of old slides on my parents' iMac. I made a quicktime file and started burning it onto dvds with iDVD.
I decided to put the file onto my laptop as well so I can burn twice as many DVD's (they are for gifts for family).
However, when I use put create an iDVD project on my laptop, I get this message from itunes saying I am not authorized to use this video. When I go into iTunes to authorize, the message is still there in iDVD.
It still lets me preview the DVD and it plays fine so I tried to burn it but it gives me an error. Why the heck does itunes think it claim my video that I made?
    Any suggestions?

I suspect the disc image proposal won't solve the iTunes re athorization issue. But if it does work, please let us know.
The way I work around iTunes authorization, is to first make a CD of that audio I wish to use and then import as an aiff into iMovie or iDvd (otherwise you may have the very same issue arise each time you attempt to play it on a different laptop (other than the one it was originally authored on).
    Good luck on this!

Hi... I had authorized my work computer to access my iTunes account, but my work just upgraded & returned all our old Macs, BEFORE I had a chance to de-authorize that computer. I'm at my 5 limit with that, so... anyone know a way to deauthorize a computer when you don't any longer have access to it? I keep thinking there has to be a way.... Thanks in advance if anyone knows!

    Check this out:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93014
"Deauthorize all" only works if you are at the 5 limit, and only works once a year.
Then you'll need to reauthorize the current computers for them to play iTunes Store content again.
