ITunes Authorization on iMovie

This is a first. Dropped a "purchased" song into 06. Began to edit it when the itunes window popped up telling me the song was not authorized for this computer. This is the computer it was purchased on. So it told me to go to the itunes store to authorize it. I did, now the song will not play in iMovie.
This could be my computer, but it could be related to 08. Strange things have been going on since the install. Has this happened to anyone else ?

I am having the same - very frustrating problem. It seems like the bigger my iMovie project gets, the more the problem is occuring, so I tried making a new movie that was smaller -- same authorization issues. After you open iTunes and authorize, it still continues to give you the same message. Also, the screen freezes when playing in full screen mode -- another bug! Help us, Apple!! I have made dozens of movies with iMovie, no problem. I've used the same music, the same libraries. This is an intermittent bug, with the only difference that I note being that when I start up iMovie and the file opens, it shows a box with the song titles loading. If they don't load, then they won't play and the authorization issues show up. If I see all the titles loading, then I can play the movie -- but not in the full screen mode. Of course, this is happening with a very precious project (aren't they all??) when we have just returned from a very expensive cross-country trip with my son's 12-year-old baseball team and I offered to preserve a week's worth of precious memories on DVD. About 100 people are waiting for my creation and I am ready to put my fist through the monitor!!

  • IDVD-Error-itunes authorization

I have an odd problem that I never had before. I made a slideshow of old slides on my parents' iMac. I made a quicktime file and started burning it onto dvds with iDVD.
I decided to put the file onto my laptop as well so I can burn twice as many DVD's (they are for gifts for family).
However, when I use put create an iDVD project on my laptop, I get this message from itunes saying I am not authorized to use this video. When I go into iTunes to authorize, the message is still there in iDVD.
It still lets me preview the DVD and it plays fine so I tried to burn it but it gives me an error. Why the heck does itunes think it claim my video that I made?
    Any suggestions?

I suspect the disc image proposal won't solve the iTunes re athorization issue. But if it does work, please let us know.
The way I work around iTunes authorization, is to first make a CD of that audio I wish to use and then import as an aiff into iMovie or iDvd (otherwise you may have the very same issue arise each time you attempt to play it on a different laptop (other than the one it was originally authored on).
    Good luck on this!

  • ITunes music on iMovie no longer works (iTunes 7)

I just upgraded to itunes 7 and now the music i had on an imovie does not work - saying the computer is not authorized (but it is!!!).
The same song on itunes is fine - imovie does not play that song!
    Help.

Same problem. I created my iMovie project on my iMac (G5), stored it on my LaCie drive which I then plugged in to my Mini so I could burn it to a DVD. Now I'm told I'm not authorized to use the two songs in the project - but only on my Mini. I just updated all the Mac software on the Mini tonight, and it still does not work.
I have OS 10.4.7 on every mac I own, and all the software levels are the same on every computer. However, the Mini is an Intel, and my other stuff is G5. Does that make a difference?
The project is Christmas greetings from home for the troops in Iraq, and it's my daughter's 4H project. We have to mail the DVDs by December 1 in order to get them to Iraq by Christmas, so I urgently need some answers.
    Thanks!

  • When I upload audio from itunes into my imovie project, it does not show all of the track?

Hi, I have opened a new project in imovie - I have uploaded 200 photos into the project to make a Comic Book movie!
this project is 7 mins and 8 seconds long - the exact length of the audio track that I want to play during the movie!
I have selected the music by clicking the musical note button in imovie, which open up my itunes library and displays the track I want to use that is 7 mins and 8 seconds long.
When I click and drag my MP3 audio from itunes into my imovie project, i only plays the first 5 mins & 33 seconds; leaving my project in silence for the final 1 min & 3 seconds????
I have not added markers, there are no fade ins or fade outs - only the first 5 min & 33 seconds or a 7 min & 8 seconds MP3 Audio track???
I have spent 10 hours trying to rectify this problem.......
can anyone help me with this problem

If your computer is not currently authorized to play your previous
account name's purchases, when you double-click an item you
purchased before you renamed the account, the authorization dialog
may show the old account name. If this happens, you will need to
remove the old account name from the account name field, type the
new account name, and click Authorize. This authorizes your computer
    to play the account's purchases.
If you are unsure about which account was used to purchase a
    particular item, follow these steps:
    1) Control-click (or right-click) the item in your iTunes Library.
    2) Choose Get Info from the menu that appears.
    3) Click the Summary tab. The account name will be listed on the
    right.
If you need further assistance in locating the current account name,

  • HT1420 Possibility to use 1 Computer - configured with 2 user accounts - each account uses a different Apple-ID for iTunes authorization ?

I wonder if it is possible to use 1 Computer (Macbook Pro)
    - configured with 2 (ore even more) user accounts (i.e. me + my kid)
    - and each user account has a different Apple-ID (account) for iTunes purchases & iTunes authorization ?
I woud think that is fine in terms of the underlying license agreement refereing to re-download purchased movies, shows, apps, etc.
However, it seams that there is that miraculous 90 days restriction, which I don't understand, and which allows me only to "authorise" the Computer under one or the other account. The switch is unfortunatelly only possible every 90 days ?!?
    Thanks anybody for help
    Oliver

The 90 day association doesn't stop you authorising an account, it only stops you from using another account for iTunes Match or automatic downloads or redownloading its past purchases : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4627
There are a few methods listed on this page for how you could do it e.g. multiple user acounts, same iTunes but you having separate playlists, separate iTunes libraries : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1495

I recently downloaded iMovie on my iPhone 5 and it is telling me to connect to wifi or use itunes to download iMovie well I have done both and it is still not working can someone please help me?

    Hi troy157,
I'm sorry you are having issues with the iMovie app you purchased for your iPhone5.
The first thing I would suggest is to log out of your iTunes Account on your iPhone, turn the iPhone off and then on again, and see if app finishes downloading/updating.
Settings > iTunes & App Stores > Tap on your Apple ID account > Tap Sign Out
If the issues persists, the article below will give you a few more troubleshooting steps:
iOS: Troubleshooting applications purchased from the App Store
Try the following steps to resolve your issue, testing the app after each step.
    1. Update your device software
Update your device to the latest version of iOS.
    2. Check for app updates
Ensure that your apps are up to date:
Open the App Store and tap Updates. If updates are available, tap Update All.
When prompted, enter your iTunes Store account information. App Store will then download and install the application updates.
Note: Some applications may require a Wi-Fi connection to update.3. Install another app from the App Store
    4. Restart the application
If the issue affects only a single app, try closing just that app:
Press the Home button to return to the Home screen.
Double-tap the Home button to display recent apps.
Tap and hold the affected app until the red minus appears.
Tap the red minus to quit the app.
Press the Home button, then restart the app.
    5. Restart your device
Hold the Sleep/Wake button until "slide to power off" appears. Slide to power off your device. When it is off, press the Sleep/Wake button to turn it back on.6. Reinstall the affected application
Remove the application from your device and reinstall it.
Touch and hold any application icon on the Home Screen until the icons start to wiggle.
Tap the "x" in the corner of the application you want to delete.
Tap Delete to remove the application and all of its data from your device.
    Press the Home button.
    Go to the App Store.
Search for the application and then download it again.
Note: If it is a paid app, ensure you are using the iTunes account you purchased the app with originally. If it is not, you will be charged for the app again. For more information regarding downloading previously purchased items, see this article.
I hope this information helps ....
    Have a great day!

  • Can't import itunes songs from imovie

When I try to play a song from my itunes list on imovie it doesn't play. Then if I drag it into the movie I get the following error message:
"The file could not be imported: The file could not be found."
If I open itunes I can drag the same song in and it will work. It's just a hassle to do so. Any help?
    Mackbook   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

    Hi, Trevor,
    Sorry that didn't work.
Are the songs you cannot import purchased songs from iTunes Music Store? If so, you will need to burn them to a CD and reimport them into iTunes and then they will work.
Or, if you are having problems with only one or two songs, you can use WireTap to record these and then import the resultant AIFC file into iMovie. You can find WireTap here
If you are having problems with all songs regardless of whether they were purchased or imported from your own cds, then the problem is with your iTunes. Try deleting the iTunes plist (Same pathway, just a different com.apple.iTunesplist).
Post back if neither of these helps.

  • ITunes Authorization on Bootcamp

For some reason, even though this is technically the same computer, iTunes needs to be authorized on Windows 7 Bootcamp, even though it is already authorized on Mac OS X. I don't use Windows 7 often, only for a few games that they don't make for OS X. However, it is highly annoying to have to use up all your authorizations on just one computer. Especially considering I'm at school and I've got computers back at home that are authorized, so it's not like I can just unauthorize them, they have to be authorized.

I think that my Mac Pro is uniquely identifiable** to iTunes
As I said previously, to the iTunes server, it's two _instances of the *+iTunes app*+_: one on OSX and another on Windows. It is no different than if the app were running on two separate computers. If you want Apple to modify the way the iTunes authorization system works, let them know your thoughts on the feedback page I linked to previously.
...but if disk failure takes out 2 Windows and 1 Mac OS
Since you are relying on _+one hard drive+_ for the multiple "computers", this makes backups that much more important.
Forgetting, or not even knowing that disable account must be done before a reinstall is necessary
is not excuseable. I am at 5 of 5 now and expect to lose iTunes access (through no fault of my own) in the near future, to the music that I paid for.
You can deauthorize all computers when you reach the limit of 5, even if your don't have access to the original computers. (i.e.: hard drive failure.)
[About iTunes Store authorization and deauthorization|http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1420]
So if you have a proper backup of your iTunes library (or libraries), then even a full disk failure is not the end of the world. Just deauthorize all, if necessary. Not the most elegant method, but far from the doom-and-gloom that you're making it into. The important thing is *+_HAVE A PROPER BACKUP OF YOUR ITUNES LIBRARY!!+_* For example:
[iTunes: Back up your iTunes library by copying to an external hard drive|http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1751]

  • ITunes Authorization on Returned Machines?

    Hey guys!
I was wondering, I recently exchanged my Macbook (without any idea what iTunes authorization is). So, guess what, I didn't de-authorize. Will the Apple Store de-authorize is eventually? Or do I have to manually do it somehow...

    No.
Or do I have to manually do it somehow...
If you haven't run out of authorizations, leave it as is. Otherwise, click here and follow the instructions.

  • Resetting the iTunes Library in iMovie HD Jan. 2006

Does anyone know how to reset the iTunes Library in iMovie?
I have manually deleted tracks in iTunes .. which are not visible in any playlist or the library, but they are visible in iMovie's audio tab wher the iTunes Library exists.
I tried deleting some of the ".plist" .. but I didn't want to erase any iTunes plist in fear of losing my playlists.
I looked at "Doug's iTunes AppleScripts" and found nothing that would help..
    Any thought?

I'd say that quitting iMovie and relaunching it ought to do it. If not, quit and restart iTunes as well. That should force it to update all of its stuff.
