ITunes authorization.

My problem is how to transfer itunes account authorization from my old mac mini to new imac?
When I try to synchronized my ipod touch with new imac and transfer all my app is always failed. Do I have to transfer all files from mac mini to imac?

authorize iTunes on the new iMac to play/use content purchased with the iTunes account used on the mini.

i think the problem is that your Touch is synced to the mini's iTunes - your Touch can only sync with one device @ a time.

If your computer is not currently authorized to play your previous
account name's purchases, when you double-click an item you
purchased before you renamed the account, the authorization dialog
may show the old account name. If this happens, you will need to
remove the old account name from the account name field, type the
new account name, and click Authorize. This authorizes your computer
    to play the account's purchases.
If you are unsure about which account was used to purchase a
    particular item, follow these steps:
    1) Control-click (or right-click) the item in your iTunes Library.
    2) Choose Get Info from the menu that appears.
    3) Click the Summary tab. The account name will be listed on the

  • HT1420 Possibility to use 1 Computer - configured with 2 user accounts - each account uses a different Apple-ID for iTunes authorization ?

I wonder if it is possible to use 1 Computer (Macbook Pro)
    - configured with 2 (ore even more) user accounts (i.e. me + my kid)
    - and each user account has a different Apple-ID (account) for iTunes purchases & iTunes authorization ?
I woud think that is fine in terms of the underlying license agreement refereing to re-download purchased movies, shows, apps, etc.
However, it seams that there is that miraculous 90 days restriction, which I don't understand, and which allows me only to "authorise" the Computer under one or the other account. The switch is unfortunatelly only possible every 90 days ?!?
    Thanks anybody for help
    Oliver

The 90 day association doesn't stop you authorising an account, it only stops you from using another account for iTunes Match or automatic downloads or redownloading its past purchases : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4627
There are a few methods listed on this page for how you could do it e.g. multiple user acounts, same iTunes but you having separate playlists, separate iTunes libraries : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1495

  • ITunes Authorization on Bootcamp

For some reason, even though this is technically the same computer, iTunes needs to be authorized on Windows 7 Bootcamp, even though it is already authorized on Mac OS X. I don't use Windows 7 often, only for a few games that they don't make for OS X. However, it is highly annoying to have to use up all your authorizations on just one computer. Especially considering I'm at school and I've got computers back at home that are authorized, so it's not like I can just unauthorize them, they have to be authorized.

I think that my Mac Pro is uniquely identifiable** to iTunes
As I said previously, to the iTunes server, it's two _instances of the *+iTunes app*+_: one on OSX and another on Windows. It is no different than if the app were running on two separate computers. If you want Apple to modify the way the iTunes authorization system works, let them know your thoughts on the feedback page I linked to previously.
...but if disk failure takes out 2 Windows and 1 Mac OS
Since you are relying on _+one hard drive+_ for the multiple "computers", this makes backups that much more important.
Forgetting, or not even knowing that disable account must be done before a reinstall is necessary
is not excuseable. I am at 5 of 5 now and expect to lose iTunes access (through no fault of my own) in the near future, to the music that I paid for.
You can deauthorize all computers when you reach the limit of 5, even if your don't have access to the original computers. (i.e.: hard drive failure.)
[About iTunes Store authorization and deauthorization|http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1420]
So if you have a proper backup of your iTunes library (or libraries), then even a full disk failure is not the end of the world. Just deauthorize all, if necessary. Not the most elegant method, but far from the doom-and-gloom that you're making it into. The important thing is *+_HAVE A PROPER BACKUP OF YOUR ITUNES LIBRARY!!+_* For example:

  • IDVD-Error-itunes authorization

I have an odd problem that I never had before. I made a slideshow of old slides on my parents' iMac. I made a quicktime file and started burning it onto dvds with iDVD.
I decided to put the file onto my laptop as well so I can burn twice as many DVD's (they are for gifts for family).
However, when I use put create an iDVD project on my laptop, I get this message from itunes saying I am not authorized to use this video. When I go into iTunes to authorize, the message is still there in iDVD.
It still lets me preview the DVD and it plays fine so I tried to burn it but it gives me an error. Why the heck does itunes think it claim my video that I made?
    Any suggestions?

I suspect the disc image proposal won't solve the iTunes re athorization issue. But if it does work, please let us know.
The way I work around iTunes authorization, is to first make a CD of that audio I wish to use and then import as an aiff into iMovie or iDvd (otherwise you may have the very same issue arise each time you attempt to play it on a different laptop (other than the one it was originally authored on).
    Good luck on this!

  • Need help with Itunes Authorization issue

I've been a Itunes/Ipod user for a couple years. During that time, I've sure spent over $500.00 on Itunes music from the Itunes store for my Ipod. My daugter and I both have Ipods.. There have only been 2 machines with Itunes installed here but I occasionally rebuild my computers to have the latest and greatest hardware for my business.. The other day I backed up all my music and data before rebuilding my machine due to hardware upgrades. Everything went smoothly including importing my purchased music back into Itunes.. The problem is I can't listen to it now. When I try to double click a song I get an error that says "You have already authorized 5 computers with this account. To authorize this computer you must first deauthorize one of the other computers" This isn't possible because the computers aren't around anymore to deauthorize. They were all housed (except 1, my daughters pc) in the same case as I have now.. Please respond...

okay. you may have ended up with multiple authorisations on that PC due to the system changes. if so the following documents should be of some help with techniques for freeing up authorisations:

  • How do you fix the never ending loop with Itunes authorization process??

Every time I try to Sync my Iphone, an itunes popup shows up claiming that my computer is no longer authorized for the apps on my phone. On the pop up it gives three options to choose from: "Cancel", "Authorize", and "Don't Authorize". If I choose authorize, it asks me to put in my apple ID and password. Now right here confuses me because when that pops up, it show's a very old email that hasn't been used with itunes in atleast over a year (most likely longer). On an offside note, with my phone I understand a bit of why the email popups with my Iphone because I used to use the email until I got my own apple ID. But now when I try to Sync my girlfriends ipod, which has never come into contact with the email, it shows the same email. Anyway, I change the email to my current one and type in my password and click on "Authorize". Then comes the final pop up telling me "This computer is already authorized. Includin this one, you have authorized one computer out of your available 5." and then gives me the option "OK". I click OK and and the process repeats itself.
Here is a picture of the first popup.
I'm new to this so I don't really know if I need to blur anything out but this is it.
This is the second popup. This first pictures shows what it looks like at first and the second is me putting in my information.
Then the third popup after I click "Authorize"
and of course after this it repeats itself.
I have tried authorizing the computer under the itunes store tab but then it says its already authorized. I don't know how to fix this and it's been a pain for over a month. I heard someone else in my family had the same problem and it just randomly went away after certain amount of time, which I don't get. Any help is gladly accepted.
    Also Merry Christmas

    A few more details....
Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.

  • ITunes authorization problems won't let me sync apps

The last few times I've tried to sync my iPod all apps are removed and will not be synced to the iPod because I am "not authorized to play them on this computer." I do, though, have my iMac authorized with both of my iTunes Store accounts. Reauthorizing them does not work, nor does restoring the iPod. What am I supposed to do to get my apps to sync?

I am having the same problem popping up with "apps": Only mine is from an old account I had 3 years that hasn't been used for 4 years. It prompts me to authorize my computer to this old account which doesn't even exist... the message reads:
"This computer is no longer authorized for apps that are installed the iPhone "my iphone". Would you like to authorize this computer?"
When I enter current account info it tells me that this computer is already authorized and when I try to sync again it immediately pops up the same message above.
This only started happening after downloading and installing iTunes 8.1.1
    Any Help??

  • ITunes authorization and song selection/playback issues

I use my computer (macbook air) and iTunes for work (I am an itinerant elem. music teacher).  The computer does not have a disc drive, so I import music from CDs and use iTunes match to transfer tracks to my laptop or iPod.
I'm having a few issues with iTunes (11.0.5) that have been occuring recently.
    1) I play a song from a playlist with no issues, then play the same song later (sometimes just minutes later) and receive a prompt saying I am not authorized on this computer to play that song and that song only.  Entering my ID and password gets rid of the prompt, but causes iTunes to freeze (I usually force quit and restart the program, which sometimes fixes the problem and sometimes doesn't).  I use iTunes match on this computer, but it still allows me to play other songs from the cloud while one song has authorization issues.
    2) When searching for a song using the iTunes search bar I used to be able to double click on the matching items without pressing enter (as I type in the search query it brings up options, which I can then double-click to play without completing the search).  Lately, when double-clicking on those songs they either don't play at all, or an entirely different piece of music will play.  If I click again it will cycle to another (also wrong) piece of music.  Despite what I type in the search, the songs that play when I click are songs with trumpet in the title somewhere, with the exception of one song, which is a trumpet sonata but does not say trumpet in the title or description.  When I drag the song from the search menu to a playlist and click on it the correct song will play.
    3) Some songs will refuse to play (iTunes claims that it is unable to find these songs).  I usually re-import from a CD when this occurs, which usually fixes the problem, but sometimes not.
    4) Some songs were imported but do not exist in my library.  Most of these songs are accompaniment versions of other songs (background track only, with no vocals).  They have the same title as their counterpart, with "acc" added at the end.  At first I thought I simply neglected to import these tracks, but when I try to import just the ones I need they still disappear and I am unable to search for them by title (using the search bar) or by looking up their album.
    5) Itunes will sometimes be unable to access tracks stored in the cloud, despite the computer having a strong internet connection.  I can download songs from the cloud using iTunes match, but this becomes problematic as I use more songs than I have room for on this (school-issued) computer.  I really don't want to spend time downloading and subsequently deleting files every week.

my home computer, where my library is stored, is running XP and it is not compatible with iMatch!
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/:
    iTunes 10.5 system requirements, Windows
Windows XP Service Pack 2 or later, 32-bit editions of Windows Vista, or 32-bit editions of Windows 7
I'm not sure how you're testing this with iMatch since Apple's site says it is not available yet, and there's no mention of any different system requirements (or any system requirements for that matter).
I don't know about the mp3 problem.  It might help if you provided a link to specific examples others could test.  I would think if this was a common issue with old mp3s there would have been 100,000 posts in this thread since it was started a month ago.

  • TS1389 iTunes authorization not accepting my new apple id and password

I plugged in my ipod to sync it and it asked to authorize my computer. I entered my password and I got an error message. I got an email to reset my password. I did. I go back to iTunes and I get the same error. I get another email to reset my password. This time I make sure I save the apple ID AND password. I get an another error and email from iTunes. I have re-set my password FIVE times in the last 30 minutes. WHY does iTunes not accept my apple id and password? I have an iPhone 4S and it works fine with the ID and password. Only iTunes denies it.
    Please help. Thank you.

How are you getting to that screen ? If I tap on my id at the top of the Settings > iCloud screen then I get a popup with :
Is that what you are seeing ? On the previous screen, below the account name and Mail, Contacts etc should be something like :
Do you know if you originally set up iCloud on that iPad with either of those 2 passwords that you've tried, or was it originally done with a different id ?

  • Mac Mini keeps losing iTunes authorization

I have a Mac Mini that keeps losing its authorization to play new iTunes content. Each time I try to use it, I have to deauthorize it and then reauthorize it to play the content
My iTunes content is stored and shared from another PC. So when I fire up the Mac Mini, I select my shared library. Then when I try to play new content, that's when it tells me the computer is not authorized to play the content. After deauthorizing it and then reauthorizing it, the new content will play.
This problem only occurs with new content that has been downloaded since the last time I used the Mac Mini. Existing content plays just fine.
Does anyone know what the problem might be?
    Thanks!

This normally happens when your neighbor and you are using the same WiFi channel. Try changing the default channel in System Preferences -> Network.

  • Vista RC1 and itunes authorizations

Has anyone else upgraded to Vista RC1? I just did yesterday, and now whenever I try to play a song I bought on itunes, it asks me to authorize this computer. I enter in my password and it tells me that the computer has been authorized, but when I go to play the file it tells me I am not activated again. The cycle doesn't end.
    Any suggestions?

I have the exact same problem. All Apple Support will do is suggest I unistall and re-install iTunes. I have done so three times and even taken off all my music and it still won't work.
I am hoping some future build will resolve it. In the meantime, I am not using iTunes.

  • ITunes Authorization trouble -- 8.0, NOT 8.1

Sigh. After reformatting my hard drive, I tried to reauthorize iTunes and it was giving me a hard time, so I changed my password. Now, I still can't authorize it for my old stuff - new stuff works fine.
So I guess I somehow created a new account, but when I try to re-authorize the old stuff with my old account (the user name it says in the info summary for those tracks), it says my user ID (my yahoo email address) can't be found, which is how I ended up creating a new account in the first place. I have also tried every user name and password combo I could think of.
How can I make it play my songs if it doesn't recognize my user name??
(I haven't upgraded to 8.1 yet because of all the issues people seem to be having! But I don't think that's an issue because this has been going on for months now.)
    Thanks so much!!
