Itunes back up to icloud

Can anyone help with this.
We want to ensure we don't lose our itunes music, apps, books etc.
We are a family but have 4 different apple id's.
Are we able to upload all the info for the 4 apple id's into the cloud using one subscription or do we have to purchase 4 different icloud subscriptions.
Also, does icloud back up the apps as well or just the music?
I am confused about this stuff, trying to look it up on itunes help.

backups do not save music and apps per this article: iOS: How to back up - Support - Apple
you may redownload them from the cloud to gain them back without paing for them again by this article: Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and ...

  • TS4036 I am trying to restore my phone using iTunes back up and iCloud back up. Both won't let me do it.  They said that it could not be completed.  What can I do to get my phone restored?

I had to wipe my phone clean because of storage issues.  It kept saying I didn't have enough storage for pics or apps, but I only had about 75 pics and 1 extra app. So, I backed up my iPhone on icloud and itunes, then cleared off my iphone using the steps in the settings.  Then, when I am going back to restore my iPhone using iTunes back up and iCloud backup, it fails in both locations.  It says it failed to be completed.
    What now?

Thank you Terence for your help.  I was able to restore my backup from my time machine ext drive to a new 1tb seagate ext drive.  so i felt sort of ok.  but yesterday that older ext drive i used for time machine wouldn't open! i called applecare and they trouble shooted with me and said it's probably a goner and data is probably corrupted.  it's only a few years old and i'm very careful with it.  my husband accidentally dropped my new drive last night -- i know, unbelievable, i was SO upset, poor guy -- but I'm so stressed with all of this.  i have 10 years of photos and videos.  so now i only have the one newer drive with a backup.  i have to buy another one today to backup again so i at least have two backups.  i tried to delete a ton of files last night to free up the 30 gb of space i need to get my full library back on my mac. i have 90gb free and deleted 7 years worth of photos i had on picasa that were in my "pictures" folder and also a ton or random photos and videos i had in that same pictures folder and thought that would give me the 30 gb but it hardly freed up any space at all!  do you know why that is?  all of this stuff is really a pain and really stressful.  thank god i did have a backup in the first place but now i am panicked the one i have left will somehow crash.  especially after my husband dropped the drive lastnight! it didn't fall far and fell onto a wood floor and seems fine, but after my older ext drive crashed yesterday -- and i lost my entire iphoto library a fewweeks ago off my mac -- i feel cursed.  any answers you have would be great. thank you.

  • Does my music from iTunes back up to iCloud? If not, what is the best way to back it up?

Does the music on my iPhone and iTunes back up to iCloud?
I tried to go to the cloud and see and it does not appear to be there.
I do use an online backup service and although that does save the items on my HD, it seems llike iCloud is supposed to as well.
    Thanks

All your purchased music on iTunes can be downloaded from iCloud at any moment. Also, if you have iTunes 11 on your Mac or PC, you can listen to your purchased music without having it on the hard disk, because iTunes will download it from iCloud to listen to them.
If you want to upload all your songs to iCloud, you have to use iTunes Match, but I don't recommend it unless you run out of space on your computers and devices. Note that you can't use iCloud to back up your music

  • HT1449 Now that i have my iTunes backed up on iCloud and iCloud Match running, can I delete the music files from my MacBook Pro?  It is running out of hard drive space.

When I started this request in the Support section, I did not realize I was typing a subject into a header.  Sorry.
My MacBook Pro is nearly full and I would like to rely on iCloud for my music with the hope of freeing up space by deleting the music files I have accumulated on this machine.  Can I just delete the files in the iTunes folder or is there some special procedure?
Thanks in advance for your help on this.

  • Are non-purchased songs on iTunes backed up on iCloud?

I have a lot of music that I transferred to iTunes from friends CDs or CDs that I didn't want to take up space in my house. I'm thinking of getting a new macbook pro and I would like to know if all of this music will be lost if and when I do so? Online, apple support says that all PURCHASED items are recoverable. As these are not what will happen?
    Thank you

You need to backup your iTunes library on your old computer and transfer it to the new computer.  Songs not purchased via iTunes will not be recoverable.

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for just such an occasion.

  • Back up in icloud and itune

i have doubt and need clarification on backup -
1- backup on icloud : is it possible to back up my iphone5s in icloud ? my iphone is having 32Gb and almost 17gb is used ..... ? what is the max capacity available for backup in icloud ?
2- itune back up : if i backup my iphone in a laptop thru itune  to day using my apple ID, is it possible to back up again my iphone thru a different laptop using my apple ID at different date say after six months ..... ?

    Hi.
Yes, wifi. It began to make the backup. It is the third wifi I tried and this did work. Maybe it was the bandwidth. Not over yet, but I hope that is positive.
I have no idea why it stopped working backup on the pc. I do not know how to fix it.

  • How do I prevent files from being backed up to iCloud and iTunes?

I have created the ios app using adobe AIR16 and flash cc. After submission of my aap into aapstore, I received a message from Apple with the following message –
    From Apple
2.23 - Apps must follow the iOS Data Storage Guidelines or they will be rejected.
By using xcode we can prevent files from being backed up to icloud and itunes, but i want to know that  what is the way to achieve this by using AIR. While creating an explicit app id from apple developer account , i am not enabling icloud support.

Within AIR you can set the File.preventBackup property to true on a directory or file to prohibit that content from being backed up to the cloud:
    File - Adobe ActionScript® 3 (AS3 ) API Reference
This is all you need to call when you first create the folder or file to have it work with iOS backup guidelines.

  • Recently got a new iPod 4th gen; I had previously backed up to iCloud and subscribed to iTunes Match, and then wound up syncing the new iPod to my MacBook Pro; all iCloud tunes were downloaded to Mac but won't all sync to the iPod - any suggestions?

Recently got a new iPod Touch 4th gen; I had previously backed up to iCloud and subscribed to iTunes Match, and then wound up syncing the new iPod to my MacBook Pro; all iCloud tunes were downloaded to Mac but won't all sync to the iPod after multiple attempts, despite all songs showing properly on the Mac and multiple syncs occurring after all songs were properly reflected on the Mac.  I updated iTunes Match from the iTunes Store menu as well pre-sync.
I should mention that I had previously had the library on a Dell (which is still running) and shared it on my home network.  While all iTunes purchases now show in the Dell, the Mac is the device I use for all syncs.
There appears to be no rhyme or reason to the iCloud physical sync failure - some songs were legacy, some were purchased via the PC, some on the old iPod.
The Mac shows all the songs correctly and none show iCloud status -all have been downloaded, but the downloaded songs that were previously showing up as iCloud based aren't syncing to the iPod.
Is there any way to force all music being seen by my iPod as iCloud to download to so I can listen to them offline?  Is there a way to force the sync from iTunes?

The "system" performed as designed. All devices syncing to one iCloud account are kept in common sync. The idea is that all such devices belong to one user. Different users should have different iCloud accounts.  Once your contacts were edited, all devices were updated as well and subsequent backups (from yours and her device) reflected the changed contacts (and any other data that may have been edited like calendars). Your first task is to change your daughter over to a new account before she makes other changes.
The only way I see for getting back contacts is to restore them from a time machine backup, assuming you also have a Mac included in the account which syncs the contacts. However, I'm not sure whether time machine includes contacts from iCloud along with those that are local, "on my Mac".
Otherwise the deleted contacts are gone.

  • How do I find my iPhone Contacts in iTunes? I'm backing up my iPhone 4S to iTunes (and not to iCloud).

    Hello,
I'm backing up my iPhone 4S to iTunes (and not to iCloud).
I haven'tyet  needed to restore the backup to my existing phone or a new phone.
Is there a way to check in iTunes whether my Contacts are stored there?
Also, occasionally, after a backup, I am unable to locate some names/information in my iPhone Contact list.
Is there a way to prevent this?
    Thanks.

If you want to free up your memory, maybe first checking to see if you got duplicates. -
From the File menu in iTunes, choose Show Duplicates. iTunes will then list all of the duplicate titles in your library.
If you delete a music in the iTunes folder, then when you try to play that particular music in your iTunes, it won't work as iTunes wouldn't be able to find it. However, when you import music on to your computer, always import straight into your iTunes, no where else.

  • How can I retrieve a video clip that I deleted from my iPhone 4s? I did not back up on iCloud or iTunes or iPhotos?

I accidentally deleted a video from my iPhone 4s.  I believe I am using IOS 7.  As soon as I realised my mistake, I switched off my wifi connection, data roaming, etc, to ensure that no new data can enter the phone.  I have not taken any more photos or videos since the incident.  I have kept my iPhone switched on since the incident.  I had not backed up to iCloud or iTunes or iPhotos.
    Any advice? Thanks

If it is not on PhotoStream and you did not backup, it is gone.

  • HT4910 my iPhone is not backing up to iCloud. On iTunes on the computer, i have set it to back-up to iCloud and after each connection to the computer it shows the last time it was backed up, but on the phone itself it shows it hasn't been backed up for we

My iphone is not backing up to icloud even though on itunes i have set it to back up to icloud. whenever i do a cable connection between my iphone and mac at the end of the exercise it indicates the last time the iphone was backed up i.e. "last back: 9.08a.m. but on the iphone itself it says it hasn't been backed up since March and on icloud there hasn't been any back up because the latest additions to the iphone are not there.
Periodically i get this message "This iphone has not been backed up ... weeks" I have followed through with all the steps and still no joy. I did however notice that my icloud email account on the iphone is different to the one i have on the computer. It would apear that I am using the two interchanagably but i have been trying to correct this so that i"ll use the same one right through.
Might this be the problem and how can i resolve it? Pls help

If this is your first time backing up your phone then yeah it might take several hours. It's definitely something you want to do before you head to bed. So try that but also make sure that your contents that are to be backed up are less than 5GB since iCloud only has 5GB of space. Usually photos are what would take up the most space so check how many photos in terms of GB you have by going into settings->general->usage then look at photos and camera.
    Hope this works!

  • Have iPhone 5 set to back up to iCloud but need both iTunes and iCloud done...

after going from 4s to iphone 5 and dragging and dropping like 15 playlists and about 4300 plus songs there must be a better way.
I backup complete itunes folder, exporting all playlists as xml files i am learning as i went from 3 to 3GS to 4 to 4s and now to a 32gb white 5. while i learned on the 4s to 5 that icloud only does store bought music of which i have a lot but most is my own music ripped from my cd's at AAC 320 VBR.
anyhow problem is i always did itunes manually never auto sync for at least 6-7 years as i did auto sync once on original ipod and learned never again after a wipeout.
so i keep icloud on (under icloud on iphone) and itunes also is checked back up to icloud on"summary page" of iphone when it's plugged into itunes 10.7. i did try changing the settings back and forth but
and hit back up every other day or so using icloud manually in phone. i did the turn one off and other on once or twice but based on time etc. it seemed like it had to start a complete backup tpicloud agoin but checking icloud via broweser (IE 9). but do use itunes daily and manually hit the sync button and rite click my iphone in left column and choose backup daily. I see the backup in preferences so assume it's doing its thing. I use 4 pop3 accounts including terrible icloud mail which is so spotty. it started as @me in july and in august my kids signed up and got @icloud addresses. i see i have them also in email settings under icloud allowing me to send or recieve from either.
none of that matters I just want to know if my dual backup scenario is actually working. apple says its one or the other from their own KB articles. BUT I THINK DIFFERENTLY JUST BY THE RESPONSE MANUALLY.
I see the space taken up by the current iCloud backup I do. I also see the current back up I do manually through iTunes so does any other user here know if this works? I see my "notes" and any changes made today so at least iCloud is picking it up...now how to find if iTunes is doing the same.

no one has doubled up on their backups so they don't lose earlier bought music or expensive audiobooks prior to iTunes 10.3?
or at the least none of the knowledgable people here are familair with doing this?
thank you I have huge library and don't want to manually redo it again for my own music. the store bought apps and music for the most part works from icloud but I defenitely want both options available to me.
    thank you
