Itunes Backup Files

Hi!
I was in the process of formatting my computer. Of course my iPhone 3G decided to quit during formatting leaving me with no backup of my phone.
I was able to recover the MDDATA/BACKUP files from my formatted hard drive, but how can I import it in iTunes? I thought it might have been as simple to copy/paste it in the backup folder, but when I open iTunes "AppleMobileDeviceHelper" stops working.
If I can't import my data, is there any way I can read the MDDATA files so I at least can get my contacts back?
Thanks!
Steffen

I tried recovery software but had no luck!

You reformatted the drive in your computer. The backup files you want to access were overwritten when you re-formatted the drive. They are gone. There may be data recovery services that can get them back. Search google if you want. This has absolutely nothing to do with using an iPhone at this point. You deleted files on your computer...

  • Is there a way to get back a previous iTunes backup file than the most recent Backup?

I did a manual backup and wanted to restore the iPhone, but iTunes forced me to update the iPhone before allowing me to restore the iPhone...
After updating, I realised that iTunes created a backup automatically without confirming with me, and now the latest backup file is not the one I wanted.
Is there a way to get back the backup file I manually backup?

No, to the best of my knowledge the device backup area is simply updated with new information each time the device is backed up so there are no previous versions preserved. Once a backup has been used to restore a device however it gets locked and dated so that you could return back to that snapshot at a later date.
Your manual backup should have simply updated the backup with any new data since the last automatic backup. Upgrading should not have overwritten a backup taken just before the upgrade with a, presumably, empty state. Have you actually tried to restore the current backup that is available? It may have what you want after all. You might like to try backing up the current state of the device to iCloud first, or if you have access to another computer back it up to that.
N.b. I always disable automatic syncing of devices so that I am in better control of when data starts to be written, and in which direction it flows.

  • ITunes Backup Files on Lion?

ITunes files lives at Home Folder(~)/Music/iTunes

  • Is there anyway to pull the data from an iPhone/iTunes backup file?

Is there anyway to pull the data from an iPhone/iTunes backup file so it can be read and imported into a DROID phone. Have a customer with a dead iPhone and they went out and purchased a DROID as a replacement and would like all their contacts to be imported into the DRIOD. Is there any software out there that can do this?

Here is one that can at least get at the data: iPhone Backup Extractor
There may well be others of better value. Google is your friend.
You'll probably need to do something with the data you can extract, like add it to Outlook, rather than being able to send it directly to the driod.

  • Missing iTunes Backup files

I just did a sync with my iPhone 3GS 3 days ago, then today I upgrade my iPhone 3GS to iOS 6.0.1,
but I accidentally select new phone for my first sync.
Later on, I tried to find the backup files which I sync 3 days ago, it didn't appear in the list.
I only see the latest or the nearest date was a year ago, how is this possible?
Where is those I sync between 2012 and 2013?
Anyone has any idea how to solve this?
I am using MacBook with iTunes 11 to sync.

Did you back up to iCloud or to your Mac through iTunes?

  • Deleting all itunes backup files to remove backup encryption

Alright, I need to reset my encrypted backup password on itunes, i forgot the password. I have all the data on my phone still so i am not trying to restore, i just want to remove the encryption so i don't mind deleting the backup files on my computer. I am up to date on iTunes and am running windows 7 64-bit. Thank you in advance.

    From the article mentioned below:
Warning: If you encrypt an iPhone backup in iTunes and then forget your password, you will not be able to restore from backup and your data will be unrecoverable. If you forget the password, you can continue to back up and use the device, however you will not be able to restore the encrypted backup to any device without the password. You do not need to enter the password for your backup each time you back up or sync.
If you cannot remember the password and want to start again, you must perform a full software restore and when iTunes prompts you to select the backup from which to restore, choose set up as a new device.

how to delete songs from itunes backup file

There is nothing to delete, as no iTunes content is included in any iPhone backup.

  • I routinely check my iTunes backup files...

And reread old text messages. However, I recently started my iCloud account and since then all my iTunes backup are old, and not showing me any text convo's for the past 3-6 months. Any idea whats happening? I feel as if it has taken my most recent backup and stored it in my iCloud but I have no idea how to retrieve that without resyncing my phone, which ultimately deletes past SMS conversations that you haven't saved.. I need some help!

Go into iTunes and check your backup status on your device's summary page. It's probably set up to back-up to iCloud instead of your computer. Just change this behavior and apply the change.

  • Can someone please tell me how to organise my itunes backup files

  • Where do iTunes backup files reside?

I'm not worried about music, but I imagine everything is in the same place. My primary concern is iCal and Address Book. I back up my iPhone and iPad to iTunes. I want to make sure it backs up to Carbonite so in the unlikely event I would loose my Mac and both devices (fire, theft. etc) and if I would need data I would need to know where to look. I don't want to use iCloud, I've had too much trouble with all 3 devices syncing to each other.
    Thanks
