ITunes burns wrong song

Using itunes 7.4.2....I am trying to burn one AAC m4p file that I purchased from iTunes on to a CD. My preference settings are set to Audio CD. I created a playlist with the single song....click Burn at the bottom right of iTunes....everything seems to proceed normally...the information in the top center window shows the correct name of the tune as the burning occurs....but when the CD is completed.... its the wrong song that appears on the CD.. Each time I have made a burn the same song which has nothing to do with the playlist appears. I tried deleting the original playlist and created a new one... repaired permissions etc and the result has been the same on several disks. Any ideas or help will be appreciated.

John...you suggest.... "Oh you have to tell iTunes to convert songs into the format that you want. Go to iTunes>Preferences>Advanced>Import. From there those the import file type to AAC. AIFF is just another file format like AAC or MP3
Ok....even though the tune is already AAC I changed my preferences...as suggested and selected convert to AAC which the message will not allow... but tried another burn. Same as before...the burn is on the wrong song. Again, there is only one song in the playlist. What I was trying to do is buy a song from itunes....and use it in a home video...which requires an .aiff file. It used to be so easy....but not anymore. I think this is the end of my itunes adventures. I will simply buy the CD
I think itunes is very limited....Apple I am sure has their reasons....but this does not work for me anymore.

  • Mac iTunes plays wrong songs

I know this question is posted alot, but I can't seem to find an answer. If anyone can link me to the solution I'd be very appreciative.
On my macbook pro when I open itunes and choose a song to play, the wrong song plays (select something by Yes, I get a song by Led Zepplin etc). Select the same song on my Iphone and its plays correctly. I do have Itunes match turned on.
If I go to the exact file through Finder and select it, the correct song plays.
Seems like some corruption with my Itunes library?
    Any help appreciated.

    Hi there pj300
You may want to try re-creating your iTuens library as an inital troubleshooting step. Take a look at the article below for more information.

  • ITunes creates wrong song information

I'm using a one year old HP desktop with Windows 7.
Within the past few weeks I noticed my iPod giving the wrong song information, but the correct album artwork.  For example:  a Foo Fighters album artwork with the song information of the Beatles, but the Foo Fighters song would play.  I discovered iTunes was the root of this problem.  I uninstalled/reinstalled iTunes.  Then I went into iTunes and "played" each song, therefore getting all of them to 'reset' to the correct song information.  This seemed to work, at least for now.
The question I have is how do I prevent this from happening again?  It took almost two hours to go through the entire music library and ended up having to update roughly 1,000 songs, if I caught all of them that is.
    Thanks ahead of time!

No its not checked. Basically album art just keeps disappearing and song information is changing itself. Its really odd. I looked through my library today and about 1 in 5 album art is gone. Any ideas?

  • Itunes transferred wrong songs to iphone

I just upgrade my iphone 4 with the latest software along with the latest version of itunes. I removed all my music and synched to albums that I had checked off the list. Nothing else in any other category was checked off. Yet, on my phone are songs that shouldn't be there. They're part of my library but nowhere did I check them off to be put on my iphone. Any answers.

    Hi sawpaw,
One of the new features of iOS 7 is the ability to show all of your purchases in your Music Library.
Click on the link below to see page 62 of the iPhone User Guide for iOS 7
    http://manuals.info.apple.com/MANUALS/1000/MA1565/en_US/iphone_user_guide.pdf
You can change the Settings > iTunes & App Store to turn this feature off for Music

    Hi, shrosie and feuquay!
I experienced a similar issue after updating to iTunes 10.5 and my iPhone 4 to iOS 5. Here's what I did to resolve the issue:
    Connect your device
Click on your device on the left side of iTunes
Click the "Music" tab at the top of the screen
    Uncheck "Sync Music"
Click the "Sync" button to sync your device
After syncing has completed, check "Sync Music"
Click "Sync" button again to sync your device
The steps outlined above worked for me and all my tunes and cover art are in order again. Hope it works for you!
    Good luck!

  • Burns correct song, but wrong file name

I have been burning a song of mine. After the song is finished burning I click on the cd icon and when it opens it shows a name of a different song. When I play the cd it plays the correct song-the one I burned! The name it labels it with is a drum track I once created so I deleted the drum track, restarted the computer, etc. It still burns the right song but names it with the track I deleted. I am preparing this cd to go out to radio stations and, although my outside labelling (cd art, Lightscribe on the cd) identifies the song, I am afraid of what will happen if the cd is downloaded, e.g. it won't show up with it' correct name.

I burn cds with iTunes-my own music imported from Garageband into iTunes.
I deleted all copies of the song that keeps being labeled on my new songs from iTunes.
I see there are iTunes Library data files in my iTunes folder, but I can't open them. There is also a folder labelled Previous iTunes Libraries with old dates on them. I don't know why they are there.
I repair permissions and restart my computer regularly.
Following the lead of some other apple discussion threds where people have had the same problem I created a 1-second silent track and added it to the playlist of the one song I was burning. Then I labeled the silent track and my demo under one album name. Then it burned and labeled okay. It turns out this problem only happens when you are burning single songs. Burning albums don't have this problem. Compilations will have this problem if you don't change all the songs to one album heading. Also, it happens with any single song burn, not just my Garageband stuff. I tried burning a single Bob Dylan song and it still came out labeled with the wrong name, the same ones iTunes put on my demo.

  • Does anybody know if Windows 8 is causing a problem with iTunes?   Many songs on my old iPod are now missing in my iTunes library and I can't find them anywhere.  Also, I have a new iPod and am afraid of using it for fear of something else going wrong.

Try assigning Queen as the Album Artist on the compilations in iTunes on your computer.

  • Weird iTunes Match issue - song correct on computer and iPhone, wrong on iPad

    I hope someone can help.
I use iTunes Match for my mobile devices, with my main home PC being the golden source/reference.
Most songs work fine on my computer, iPhone 4S and iPad3 using iTunes Match ... however a few songs are incorrect on the iPad.
For example, Kelly Clarkson "Breakaway" is plays correctly on computer and iPhone, but a completely different Kelly Clarkson song plays on the iPad (a song we don't even own!).
    Troubleshooting ...
    a) on iTunes on my computer, iTunes match is up to date and the 'problem' songs are listed as "Matched" in the iCloud Status column.
    b) on the iPad, I've tried turning off iTunes match, then re-enabling iTunes match - same issue occurs - the Kelly Clarkson songs show up, but the 'wrong' song plays
    c) I've tried restarting the iPad ... no change.
I've read other threads with similar issues - they say contact support - but my systems are out of full warranty and there doesn't seem to be a way of contacting support without paying.
Does anyone have any suggestions ?

Hi - thanks for the response.
    A couple of points/questions
    1) I did further debug by deleting the song from my computer (leaving the song in iCloud) - then downloading from iCloud .... the song labeled Kelly Clarkson 'Breakaway' in iCloud is not the correct song .... this isn't coming from my system, as the song was 'Matched', not 'uploaded'.
    2) I rechecked my iPhone ... the Kelly Clarkson song 'Breakaway' which plays correctly is stored locally on the phone ... it's not coming from iCloud/Match.
    3) You mention removing "Music" from the iPad .... how is that possible? I can remove apps that I've downloaded, but don't know how to remove 'native' apps (like safari, music etc.). Also - based on my further troubleshooting, this clearly isn't an iPad issue any more ... it's an error with Apple iTunes Match catalog.
Any ideas on how to contact Apple (without me paying!) to have this resolved?

  • Hello - I used a Sony DVD to burn 350 songs. When I put the DVD into another computer to rip those 350 songs, the 'import songs' button never appeared in the lower right hand corner of iTunes. What's preventing songs from being ripped?

Hello - I used a Sony DVD to burn 350 songs from my iTunes library to share with a friend. When I put the DVD into my friend's computer to rip those 350 songs, the 'import songs' button never appeared in the lower right hand corner of iTunes. Anybody know what's preventing me from ripping what's on the DVD?

When I put the DVD into my friend's computer to rip those 350 songs, the 'import songs' button never appeared in the lower right hand corner of iTunes.
The import command only works with audio CDs. So if you burned the files in mp3 format, try instead using the "File > Add file to library" or "File > Add folder to library" commands.

  • Sometimes iTunes burns CDs with song title info on them, sometimes not

When I burn a CD in iTunes, sometimes the song titles and other info seems to transfer onto the CD so that when I put it back in the disc drive the titles and artists show up on the iTunes track listing of the CD, other times it seems they don't transfer onto the CD so that when I put it back in the disc drive iTunes first tries to get the track info from theCDDB and then just lists the tracks on the CD as Track 1, Track 2, etc. Is there any way to assure iTunes consistently transfers the song titles & other info onto the CDs it burns, so that when I play those CDs in other machines that can display this info, the info is there for it to read?

iTunes recently added the option of embedding CD Text into audio CDs (although the option is disabled by default). If you’ve enabled this feature, it’s likely that your car’s CD player is reading that. I don’t believe that iTunes is enabled to get track info from CD Text. It's possible to harvest track names from CD Text on a Mac with AppleScript. I’m sure it’s possible on a PC as well, although I’m not sure how.
iTunes remembers audio CDs that you've burned and stores their track lists in your library file, so if you burn a CD, then re-insert it in your computer later, it should remember the track names. If you’ve replaced your library file, or the CD in question was burned on a different computer, then iTunes will have no record of having burned the disc, hence no track names.
    Hope that helps.

  • Last played updates wrong songs on shuffle, but updates nothing in iTunes

I recently upgraded from a 2nd to a 3rd generation iPod Shuffle. The 2nd had real problems updating the "Last Played," "Last Skipped," and other settings in iTunes so I wasn't that sorry to see it go belly up recently.
But the 3rd Generation's problems in this regard are so much more complex. I want to use Autofill but right now it updates the wrong songs on the Shuffle (as viewed through iTunes) which is fine, I guess, because the main music library doesn't get updated at all.
What is going on? Why is it so difficult to play a song on a Shuffle (whatever the generation) and have these settings update correctly in both the Shuffle and iTunes?

I think it is a virus on your shuffle or it is on another file extension. If it is a virus try to reformat it.

  • TS1424 will itunes issue refund for wrong song purchased?

The wrong song was downloaded.  Will itunes refund me for the purchase?

You mean you clicked on the wrong song and bought it?  Or do you mean you clicked on the song you wanted but some other song was downloaded?  If the first, chalk it up to experience and move on.  If the second, your time is probably more valuable than the $1.29 you got ripped off. I'd again recommend moving on.  But technically, if it was the second you are due either a refund or the song you were supposed to get.

  • Itunes corrupting files--right title, wrong song

I have Windows XP and I'm using iTunes 7.
I've been putting together playlists, and suddenly something strange is happening frequently. I'm getting songs that are matched up with the wrong song names. All the songs are songs I have in my collection. Sometimes the original file is fine (i.e. only the playlist has the wrong song) and sometimes it is changed as well. I didn't resize the playlists (I did a search and found that can cause a similar problem). This is happening on itunes before I try to update my ipod.
This is upsetting especially because I'm losing songs that I'll have to buy all over again.

    Open windows explorer.
Rt Click on the c drive and then properties.
    Click on the tools tab
    hit the Check now button.
If you have bad sectors then the drive is failing. Its my experience that if you see checkdisk repairing links when you are booting up then get your data off fast. Like I said two weeks ago all of a sudden my itunes stoppped working as I was importing cds. Then other stuff stopped working, so I rebooted the pc and saw the checkdisk startup. The very next day I backed up my data and bought a new drive. A while back when checkdisk would repair stuff it would do exactly what you describe, you play one artist but the music is someone else.
Would the drive you are using be a Western Digital by chance?
