ITunes can't "get" Podcasts

Suddenly, I can't download any podcast episodes for any program. I can see each episode as being available, but when I click get, I get a grey exclamation point and the following error:
The URL ... could not be found on the server.
I've gone through and checked the feeds - the files are there. I've upgraded from 9.0 to 9.0.1 - no fix. I've unsubscribed, and deleted every episode, then resubscribed again - still nothing. Help!

I am having this same problem!!! HEEELLLLPPPPPP!!!! I want my podcasts! I dont' have internet at work....the downloading banner will pop up for like 1.5 seconds then disappear and there is just an exclamation point near the podcast....

If they were imported from CDs, and you had no other backup of them on your system or another drive, you'll need to reimport them from CDs again.
For music purchased from the iTunes, you can redownload each track at no cost via iCloud.  See this article for more details.

  • ITunes Can't Find Podcasts on my iPod Touch

Since I upgraded to OS3.0 on my Touch, I have been unable to keep track of my Podcasts in iTunes (both 8 & 9). This has persisted despite upgrading my Touch to 3.1.1 and iTunes to 9.0.1.8. iTunes only finds 16 podcasts, even though I have 76 - so I can't delete any. (I do not sync my podcasts because there are more in iTunes than I want on my Touch.) Any thoughts how to get iTunes to accurately read my Touch? I know the podcasts are therebecause I can play them, and MusicRescue identifies and copies all of them. Why can't iTunes? It doesn't make sense, but it's been a problem for about 2 months, now. My music files appear to all be OK.

The problem appears to be with the Touch - because when I checked my iPod Classic, all of the podcasts are found by iTunes.

  • Can't get podcasts to download

I'm having a horrible time getting podcasts to download (from ESPN and NPR publishers). They'll get about 1/4 of the way through and then just stop. I did a speed test and can download at 35 mbs/sec. itunes diagnostics said I passed all network connectivity tests (details below). This is driving me nuts. Please help.

Podcasts don't come from the itunes store - they come from the podcast producer's website.
You might try downloading them directly from the ESPN or NPR websites. That's all I can think of. My NPR podcasts seem fine, for whatever that's worth.

  • I Can't get podcasts that I subscribe to downloading any more

I have read some similar posts but they are not specific to my issue:
I can download purchased content from itunes, no problem. Podcasts will not download - some get to 30% and go no further, others not at all. My Internet activity monitor shows no traffic and I do not get a firewall "blocked application warning".
The only thing that has changed is that I upgraded from Intego's X5 to X6. I cannot find anything within the settings to suggest that itunes is being restricted in any way. My gut feel is that X6 is the culprit but cannot see anything wrong (I have raised a ticket with them but so far no response). Does anyone have any other pointers (upgrading to X6 may well be coincidence).

I have X6 and it doesn't cause this problem. If it was blocking a podcast I would expect the download never to start in the first place.

  • My nano completely emptied and I no longer have a podcast section, How can I get podcasts back?

This morning I was trying to sync my iPod and add new podcasts for my commute to work later. After plugging in my iPod my computer let me know that I had damaged files and gave me an option to scan them. I did scan, now my iPod is empty, which by itself is upseting not, I see that I am back to the 1.0.4 software and no long am able to support podcasts at all. Does any one know how I can get podcasts again?

Double check to make sure podcasts are configured to sync to your device from under the iPod's Podcast configuration tab.
To access the Podcasts tab for your iPod, plug your iPod in and click on it from under the Devices section in the left hand pane of iTunes.  This will bring you to the Summary tab. Along the top you should see a Podcasts tab, so go ahead and click on it.  Here you can configure how and what podcasts sync to your iPod.
If you do make any changes to do this tab, make sure to hit the Apply button in the lower right hand corner to apply the update changes to your device.
Otherwise, are you getting any error messages when you sync your iPod Classic with iTunes?

  • ITunes can't get album artwork for songs iTunes has in the store... how do i fix this?

i have a bunch of songs that either have the wrong album artwork or none at all.  the weirdest thing is that some of the albums are SOLD on iTunes. in fact, if i highlight one of my songs in iTunes, Ping sees it and shows me the correct cover art. BUT when i click "get album artwork", it tells me it cannot find the artwork. i've tried matching the text (song title, album title, artist, genre) exactly as it is in iTunes, but that doesn't help. it is doing this for about 60 of my albums and i don't know how to fix it. how can i get it to find the artwork?
also... when iTunes finds the WRONG artwork, how can i direct it to the correct one?

Albums, artists and complications must match precisely for iTunes to get a hit.  If you have a compilation, chances are you have a 'various artists' for an album artists ... there is a bit of a science to it.  I've managed to get most of my 'picky ones' to match.  But I have some that just won't - for whatever reason.

  • AppleScript error with iTunes: Can't get window 'iTunes' of class pcap ...

Hi there. I'm working on a script that posts iTunes track names to Campfire based on the AirPlay device in use. I've been getting a "Can't get window 'iTunes' of <<class pcap>> 'iTunes' of application 'System Events'" and was hoping someone might see an obvious answer. The error pops up randomly. I'm positive there's a better way to check if AirTunes is the active device (maybe by seeing if the current playlist is a device playlist, and checking the source name?), but I don't have any way to test that.

  • Very unhappy with new podcast app...how can I get podcasts back into normal music app or possibly go back to iOS5?

Just "upgraded" to iOS 6.0.1. Thanks to the new "Podcast App" I can no longer keep my podcasts combined with my music. I don't want access to search new podcasts, but seems like I'm forced to have access to this section of the iTunes store as it comes with the podcast app, even when the iTunes store is turned off in the Restrictions section under General Settings. I can probably tell iTunes that my podcasts are really "music" by using the "get info" option in iTunes, but then it won't let me listen to it at double-speed, which is the only way I listen to podcasts. I'm very frustrated. Is there anyway around this or a way to "downgrade"?
If any Apple folks are listening please give us the option of how to listen to our podcasts. It's pointless to have to download one more app when it worked great the way it was. What is the point of separating them??????

"in which case it will" force install the app ... So Yes iTunes will force install the app as I said. My gripe is with Apple yet again forcing a change onto their customers. I use iTunes for sync, so no matter how many times I delete the crappy app it will be forced back on me at the next sync. Most apps have a "remove" option in iTunes but not podcasts. Again, there is no way to stop that I can see. If you know a way to stop this iTunes behavior please document it here. Thanks at least for these forums for aggrieved Apple customers having a chance to find solutions to these issues.

  • Is there a way for iTunes to automatically get podcast subscriptions from my iPod/iPhone?

I just had a hard drive crash, and while I've got most of my music and ebooks pretty well backed up, I've found that I didn't do the same with my podcasts.  I'm not worried about the podcasts per se, but I'd rather not have to subscribe to all of them individually again if it can be helped.  I'd like to believe there's got to be an easier way, going through this process every time a hard drive fails or a computer gets updated gets rather old.

    Yes...
    For iTunes purchases...
Launch iTunes on the new computer. From the iTunes menu bar click Store > Authorize This Computer
Now from the menu bar click File > Transfer Purchases from...

  • Trying to Buy Songs thru iTunes - can't get it done - What's wrong?

I just got my ipod. Did all the signup stuff - downloaded itunes 7.2. Went to the store - found a song - clicked buy song. It takes me to a screen promoting the new version of itunes. I have alrady downloaded that -- 3 times now -- rebooting the computer after each time. My PC confirms - i've installed it -- but i downloaded it again anyway. Anyway - I do go back to the store after each install and click "buy song" again. Same result.
How do i get to the next step. There are no other instructions on that screen.
Is there another place i can buy music?
    Any and all help appreciated...

Maybe try downloading and installing the update manually via this website:

  • I have lost my songs from both by Ipod and my Itunes library but they are still purchased according to the Itunes store so I cant rebuy/re download them straight from iTunes, Can I get them back?

I have recently restored my Windows laptop to factory settings in a successful attempt to speed it up but this resulted in my laptop login account being deleted as well as my iTunes library that was linked with it so since I couldnt use that account I decided to make a new iTunes library on my new laptop login then when I tried to get the songs on my iPod on to my iTunes library I lost all of the songs on my iPod so I no longer have any of my songs anywhere that I can see but when I tried to redownload my songs from the iTunes store it just says purchased next to every album/song so I can't redownload anything so the only way that I can think of to retrieve them is downloading them from , it there anyway that I can retrieve my songs?

Download previous purchases from the iTunes Store - Support - Apple
