Itunes Can't identify my iPhone 3G properly but my computer can?

For some reason the iphone can't seem to connect to itunes properly. i don't know why but i did restart the phone and it still will say the same thing. The even stranger thing is that my Computer can easily tell what it is and extract photos from it.
I also get a Error message from itunes when i do it.
Picture below of my computer detecting it fine and iTunes can't detect it:

This would lead me to believe it is a problem with iTunes. I would try and reinstall iTunes and see if that fixes the problem.

    please help

Macafee security center is may be the culprit.
    Open Macafee then: select;
    Internet & Network > configure
    Firewall > Advanced
Programm Permissions > scroll down to Itunes
    Highlight (click on)
Then Grant full access to Itunes.
    APPLY then OK
When you select store from Itunes you will need to register with Itunes.
    Try that or:
    Disable your firewall.

  • Had 3G, moved to 3GS.  Backed up 3G and restored 3GS from backup with no problem.  When I want to add songs, I get itunes message that the new iphone is synced to another computer and now wants to erase everything.  How can I add music?

Had 3G, moved to 3GS.  Backed up 3G and restored 3GS from backup with no problem on a Dell computer.  But now when I want to add songs, I get itunes message of death that the new iphone is synced to another computer and now wants to erase everything.  How can I add music without erasing everything on my new iphone?

Yes, I was aware of this but the phrase "Any items imported from audio CDs or acquired from other sources will not copy from your device to the iTunes library." is what worries me.  Will this eliminate my Notes, Calendar Events, etc or will it apply mostly just to the music?

  • Itunes locking up when the iPhone is connected to the computer

Has anyone found a "real" solution to the problem of iTunes locking up every time and iPhone is connected to the computer for syncing? I'm getting sick and tired of having to reboot my computer 6-7 times before I can get a clean connection so the two will sync. I would have thought Apple would have gotten off their collective A* by now and fixed an obviously serious software issue. Or are they going the way of Windows and just crank out crap just so they can say they have the coolest gadget?
Here's what I did today and still can't get iTunes to sync with my iPhone:
    1. Completely un-installed "ALL" Apple products.
    2. Cleaned the registry of "ALL" Apple products.
    3. Reset the iPhone back to factory settings.
    4. Shut down and restarted both.
    5. Reloaded all new Apple software.
    6. Started iTunes and as soon as I connect the iPhone, iTunes locks up.
    7. I have restarted my computer 6 times and still can't get iTunes to run without lockup.

  • Will iTunes support an iPod and iPhone that uses the same computer?

I'm curious to know if Apple has/will take into consideration that many people who will purchase the iPhone, will make the purchase as an addition to their Apple perepherals and not a substitution. Meaning, the iPhone will not replace the iPod as their portable music player. As I understand, Apple has set copyright guidelines to how many iPods one can assign to an individual player, and how many iPods one could transfer files to, to only 1 player. My question is, is Apple going to allow file transfers to both the iPod and iPhone when the user syncs from their computer? I want to purchase the iPhone upon release, but I would reconsider if I was unable to listen to music on both my iPod and iPhone.

Nobody knows how it will interact. Probably just like an iPod does now. You can have multiple iPods for syncing to one computer, each receiving different content. So there shouldn't be any issue there.
By the way, the authorization limit is number of computers not iPods. There has been cases here of whole families with each person having one sometimes two iPods.

  • ITunes doesn't see my iPhone on my Windows 8 computer.  It used to, now with latest version of iTunes it doesn't.  Help?

I can't get iTunes to see my phone anymore.  I am trying to sync my phone as I've done a million times and now suddenly I can't get the device to show up in iTunes.  I have reinstalled iTunes, restarted my phone, and followed a few other steps in the online help that got me nowhere.  Anyone have advice as to how to do this?  I've got to sync my calendars asap!
    Thank you!

    Hi akwritermama,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
It's possible that the iTunes software didn't update properly.   Try the specific steps below for the iPhone first:
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538
If the issue is not resolved, you may need to uninstall iTunes and all of it's components, and reinstall the latest version as explained in this article:
iTunes 11.1.4 for Windows: Unable to install or open
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5376
I hope this information helps ....

    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH2613
    Turn off iCloud completely
Depending on whether you want to stop using iCloud on all or only some devices, do one or more of the following:
On your iOS device’s Home screen, go to Settings > iCloud, then at the bottom of the screen, tap Delete Account.
Note:   If you delete your iCloud account, iCloud will no longer back up your iOS data. You can still back up your device in iTunes (for more information, open iTunes and choose iTunes > Help).
On your Mac, open iCloud preferences, then click Sign Out.
If your Mac has OS X v10.7.5 and you turn off iCloud, your calendar information and reminders aren’t stored locally in iCal. If you want to retain your calendar and reminder information, you need to back it up before turning off iCloud. For more information, see the Apple Support article iCloud: Calendar & reminder data removed from Calendar and Reminders or iCal when disabling iCloud Calendar.
On your Windows computer, open the iCloud Control Panel, then click Sign Out.
Note:   If you turned on automatic download of music, app, or book purchases (in iTunes preferences or in Settings on your iOS device), your iTunes purchases are still downloaded to your devices.
Set up iCloud on your devices

  • Itunes doesn't recognize my Iphone 4 on my new computer

Got a new PC which uses Windows 7.  I've downloaded Itunes w/ 64-bit installer.  Itunes works and now has all my songs, etc. on it.  However, it does not recognize my Iphone4 when I hook it up to my computer.  Computer does recognize it is there though.

Iphone 4 . . . all the answers seem to say check the cable or make sure the phone has been updated to the latest software version.  I don't know what else to check.  I have downloaded the 64-bit installer version of Itunes to my Windows 7 PC.

  • Itunes says i have the iphone...but i have an ipod touch.

When I select my ipod in itunes to look at its review (where it shows the capacity info and whether or not it needs an update, etc that kind of stuff) it says "iPhone" at the top and tells me "your iphone software is up to date..." blah blah blah. i have a 3rd gen ipod touch...? i don't know if it has always said that and i'm just now noticing or what.
EDIT: I just finished a sync and it even said "iphone sync complete" at the top. whaaaat?! i'm pretty sure that it has always said "ipod."

AND, it's also taking forever to sync and back up. it was giving me the error message that it could not load data from sync services or something like that but that went away after i unplugged it and plugged it back in. it's still taking forever to sycn though. gahh what is going on? :/

Well I know that I didn't get any responses but I thought I'd just let people know that after not having it plugged in all night and plugging it in in the morning, everything is back to normal. It says "iPod" again and tells me that my "iPod" has finished syncing. What happened last night maybe was some sort of temporary bug? I don't know.
